Dear Heavenly Father, help me to stop being a lazy natural, help me to listen to Kim and use her tips, cause I don't want to deep condition ERRRR-Time I shampoo my mane. Send your natural hair Holy Spirit to rain down on me and give me patience. She is only on number FOUR and I'm exhausted and lazy all the more. Help me Lord! Thank you in advance, in Jesus' Holy Name. Amen. LAWD...……KIM!!!….she is STILL TALKING!!!!!
I started washing my hair weekly with shampoo, deep conditioning, and putting leave-in on in the shower. BIG difference! This quarantine has helped a lot.
Yes my hair has made some changes since I've had more time to tend to it....but once I go back to work idk if I'll be able to maintain this 😔😔. Is tew murrch!
Testimony: I’ve been doing was and gos twice a week for 2 years straight and my hair is flourishing. My boyfriend even noticed it was getting longer and looking healthier. Doing wash and gos really helps you get to know YOUR hair and helps you develop your technique. At this point my technique is so tight, my hair still comes out good even when I’m not using holy grail products.
do you actually wash your hair with shampoo twice a week? I want to try this and am concerned that washing my hair twice a week instead of once will dry it out.
Using heat with my leave-in or letting my leave-in sit in my hair under a shower cap for a while before styling is FANTASTIC advice. I've never thought to do that before. I'm washing my hair tomorrow and will definitely be taking that advice, among everything else. Thanks!
@@blackdove1299 I have one of those microwave caps that I use to deep condition my hair but I've never thought to use it with my leave-in! I can't wait to try it.
Adrienne Chambers After my leave in is applied, I put on a shower cap then a turban before I get out of the shower. You’ll be surprised how much the leave penetrates into your hair.
My hair makes me feel like I’m going crazy sometimes. It’s constantly changing. I’m so happy to hear you say that your porosity changed, and that your hair’s compatibility with certain products can change over time. It seems like every time I find something that works, after a while my hair changes slightly and I restart the journey. You never ever stop learning how to take care of natural hair. My porosity recently changed from high to low porosity and I’m trying to understand what that really means for my hair care routine. I’m battling dry hair right now, tried Melanin, tried CurlMix, my hair is like a fussy baby that doesn’t want to eat! 😖😫😤
I got a filtered shower head for the first time and it made such a difference in how fast my hair absorbed water. I never really thought it would make a difference, but it did.💓
I just want to say having low porosity hair after watching your wash n go series i have started putting my leave-in in while in the shower....this has been a major game changer!!!!!!! Thank you so much for this tip....this has cut my styling time down and i just thank you!!!!
All this while I had been skipping working out with Deep Conditioner in my hair with a shower cap on. I have never thought of that method in producing heat. Very creative! I will add that to my routine. It will really make my life much easier...in addition to preventing any procrastination!!! Thank you Kim!
My hair has been amazing this last year since I started weekly washes with shampoo followed by deep conditioning. 4C and my hair stays soooo moisturized (it took me 10 years of being natural to realize I didn't need to fear shampoo lol). I realized my hair didn't have a clean enough cuticle with the cowashing, and my scalp really didn't benefit from them either. My scalp needed that shampoo!
One of your brothers here watching. I appreciate this post. Like most guys, I'm not the best with giving a lot of attention to my hair. My mom loved the hair she helped create on my head, but she didnt give it much thought to teaching me how to care for it since she took care of it the best she knew. I'm an Gen Xer, so even though my hair is fine and a mix of straight and curly, my mom managed my hair as though it was coarse. Needless to say, that's how I tried to manage it until the past 3 years. Your video is much appreciated. Understanding porosity, I've seen my hair switch back and forth depending on how I treated it, and honestly I wasnt keeping track of a regiment. Now, I'm going to use your tips, many of which resonate with what I've done in the past but didnt understand why it worked. Thanks again.
Everything you mention is everything I learnt last year in my first year being natural. I don't think anyone can be more obsessed with moisture as I was lol, until hygral fatigue hit hahahah. MOISTURE is everything!
Loved these tips 👏🏽 when people ask me why their hair is dry I always ask how often they are deep conditioning and I suggest they put their leave in on before getting out of the shower. These steps are super easy to follow; we bout to be drip dripping in 2020
Girl, I gotta give you props. I had thought that these tips for curl/moisture training were for folks with looser curl patterns like yours (I know you said forget curl types lol) because I haven’t seen too many tighter curl patterns caring about maximum hydration to the point where their texture shows. I wasn’t happy with my results following them so I went back to the idea of moisture training my hair and really dedicating to it and it’s like night and day with my hair. I didn’t even know that I could achieve such curl definition with my tightly curled/coiled type 4 hair. I love how my hair looks and feels. It’s the most moisturized and softest it’s ever felt. My hair now curls up with just drenching it in water while washing it now when before it would just poof up until I put conditioner on it. The ONLY thing I don’t do is style in the shower. It’s time consuming and messy and I hate being drenched in water for that long 😂 but I do saturate it for my wash and go’s with a spray bottle which has given me awesome results rather than with damp hair like I used to. Also Kinky Curly Knot Today and the Curling Custard is the TRUTH for my hair. Thank you for your tips! 😄
Can’t wait to try some of these techniques tomorrow! It seemed that the longer my hair’s gotten the dryer. Watching your vid I think I figured it out. I had been rinsing my deep conditioner out with cool water to “lock in the moisture” instead of keeping it warm for the leave in. We’ll see if that’s the difference.
I’ve been working from home and watching your videos since the quarantine started. The tips you’ve given have completely changed my hair! My wash and go used to be soo dry with no definition. And now my hair is super defined and moisturized.
I love that some of your tips are the opposite of what a lot of other curlies recommend. I’ve been following a lot of others tips but my hair still isn’t where I want it to be. Imma try your method.
Listen..I wish I can ask you sooo much, but since I can't you videos have be EVERYTHING to me! I've been natural for a while but just now investing in my hair (cause it's expensive 😩) and learning my hair. I've been binge watching your video and you speak a language I understand and it's so refreshing! Thank you thank you.!
First, your hair, face, personality and everything is so beautiful!! Secondly, you are the first one who's ever exposed the 'oil-game!' Lol! Thank you!! New-subbie
I’m glad you brought up the oil thing bc I DO NOT like an abundance of oil in my hair. It makes my face greasy and now that I am really learning my hair I realized less is more! Most leave-in conditioners, hair masques/masks, deep conditioners & hair butters contain oil so it makes little to no sense to seal an oil based products with more oils! So thank you for elaborating on this ❣️
When I found out my porosity it was a game changer. Also when I stopped using oils. Thank you for that.. A friend of mine stopped doing LOC or LCO years ago (even though she told me after you lol) and her hair is waist length. Lastly, I didn’t know I should deep condition when I co-wash mid week. Thank you!
It's crazy cuz I've been subscribed for so long that I've lowkey been moisture training my hair! Kim has never EVER led me astray💞 Hopefully the girls listen this time lol
Thanks for the tips fren!! I've been deep conditioning and putting my plastic cap back on after I put on my leave-in getting back under the dryer is a great idea thanks again.
I truly appreciate the way you explain WHY you do certain things. I’m high porosity, medium density, but your steps truly help me understand the process!❤. Thank you. New subbie
Coming back to this video after about a month just to say thanks! My curls have definitely been better! Adding a leave in during the shower has been really helpful and we’re getting there! 👏🏾
I love how thorough you are in your explanations! My hair is strong and healthy but I have a difficult time keeping it moisturized. Definitely gonna try the tips for a few months and see what happens...
i washed my hair 3x a week consistently with everything for like 3-4 months and all my friends were noticing how much it was growing and staying moisturized, so I can vouch for number 8.
I love your tips! You have a great personality and you make me laugh while educating me. I’ve only been natural for a year so still trying to find my way!
I think you’re talking about Fen-nah-Greek (pronounced) seeds 🙌🏽 Fenugreek is known for aiding in hair growth and /or stopping hair loss.. I’m always looking for a new leave-in especially that help with retention ♥️ And I agree it’s no way I can do my hair without deep conditioning.. I have seen my hair’s health improve with the consistency 💪🏽
You are one of the VERY FEW youtubers who actually gave the right tips. This makes my heart smile! Girl where did you learn this from? I learned from about 4 different stylists. I went as far as to use products without oils and my hair is a lot shinier and absorbs water a whole lot easier. I hope everyone listens so they all can have bomb curls. It took me some time to get my curls poppin. But I will say too, to stay away from braids with added hair because they do compromise your cuticle and make it difficult to maintain moisture. Your hair tends to feel rougher after braids.
Yes ma'am!! Oils are only used on my scalp occasionally if im feeling a hot oil treatment. I dont put it on my strands anymore makes my hair waaaay too greasy. My products have oils don't need to put more!!
Yo youve helped me so much. I swear homie just chasing moisture instead of length and having a consistent moisture routine is really working for me. Lots of love❤❤❤❤❤ 1 month in & curls poppin!
I love that you emphasize the porosity and not the pattern 🙌🏽🦋 love the real ness in your video too boo cause with this Quarantine I been sleeping on my curls so this video got me ready for a new hair regime . Lol thank you baby!!!
Oil oil oil!! Lol! I’ve been following your tips for a long time and I get so many compliments on my hair. I owe it all to you- thank you for teaching us
I'm so mad that I'm just finding your channel. I'm just getting hip to moisture training after years of following the LCO method. You are such a great teacher! Thanks so much for sharing.
I think she meant that if it's SUPER dry by that point it is damaged. But hair is cyclic whatever you've gone through can change it. I just had twins it is NOT the same type of hair I had before and that's perfectly fine.
Kim. Thank you so much. Your videos are so informative and clear. I am so thankful for your channel!! Your tip about applying the leave-in in the shower and using warm water was a game changer for me! I also noticed that all of my products have oils in it after you mentioned it! Crazy!! Such a great point.
Thank you for this. I was over here watching another you tuber who claims that low porosity hair dries fast and that has to do with curl type. I had to unsubscribe and pray for a video from you!😭 Thanks for the info...will try the wash and go for 3 months.
I couldn’t believe it either when I watched it because at the end of the day, she edited that video before post so even if it was a mess up she could have corrected herself but when the chile put the hashtag on the screen I wanted to throw my phone 😩😩😩😩😩
Denise Hackner Definitely not low porosity without heat. If I’m lucky 36 hours, but most times at least 48 hours to air dry. Does she have super fine hair?
love the tip of sitting under a dryer after applying a leave in. I always felt the need to do this but wasn't sure about it. Definitely trying the next time I apply my leave in
I never thought about the oils! ugggh....I may have to do a wash without adding extra oils and see what I get. I do love my oils!! Thank you for the tip!
I've been struggling so much with moisture!! Sometimes my hair is juicy and full of life then others it looks like I was traveling in the desert for days with NO WATER!!🤦♀️🤷♀️ The struggle is real out here!!. I'm trying Frennn. Thanks for the tips. I just gotta do better.😔 Update: still struggling!!😒 I just don't know what to do anymore!! Maybe I need to find a professional to do something with my curls!! My roots are so frizzy!!! I think the only thing that holds in my hair is grease!!
From my limited experience, I feel like my hair retains moisture when it’s twisted versus in wash in goes. I’ll keep your advice regarding consistently wearing wash-n-gos in mind.
wash and go styles do not work for me. And clarifying my hair every week will also not work. I enjoy watching youtubers but we know our hair best and have to do what's best for us. I will be using oil and moisturizing shampoos.
Sis we on the same page. I learned a lot of these tips from you. You have helped my natural hair sooo drastically in the last few months. 👏🏽 Chile!!! The best tips that I’ve been doing that I needed was to put the leave in in the shower, putting a plastic cap on after the shower, using clarifying shampoos more often, etc. This video is soo informative. You did that!!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
I just love you channel and content. This info and your techniques are game changers! I've seen so much growth! Keep educating us. I'm always here for it!
I keep telling myself that I would only do wash and go’s when my hair gets longer but I realized I don’t really know my hair I just use the products my sister uses and my growing rate is fast but my length retention and moisture routineis not good at all so this just motivated me to do more wash and gos
This has been my biggest focus during quarantine! I love how my wash and go’s look totally different in 2 months. Lol also.... soon as you mentioned you stopped using oils “my whole life has changed” 😂 lastly, I have concluded my hair had no act right because I depended on other people doing it.
Can you do a detailed video on your routine? Like how many times you wash your hair? If you detangle with a conditioner before applying your deep conditioner, and if you add additional water when applying your deep conditioner etc.. please?
Hey Kim. Really great content. I know you ALWAYS stress not using oils as a sealant. I do not like using oils as a sealant for my hair. However, have you ever done a pre-poo with aloe vera and then an oil combo? I did an overnight aloe vera and hot oil treatment last night and the results were amazing.
Putting a plastic cap over your leave in is the bizzness! It works y’all, forreal. Also using the leave in in the shower. Even staying in the hot bathroom and doing your hair works...keeps your cuticles open. Where as when you leave the hot bathroom, the temp in your room, changes and is cooler and I’m sure affects your hairs cuticles and makes them close a lil.
Just did box braids on my hair and told myself I was going to wear braids for the remainder of the summer 😩 now I wanna take them out so I can moisture train my hair 🤦🏾♀️

Do u wash weekly with a sulfate shampoo? And when u say put ur leave in during the shower do u just mean when. It’s wet

hydration is water moisture is oil

“Wash your damn hair!” 😹😹😹😹 ....I just started back deep conditiong because Ive been lazy/slacking and my sh*t has been dry Sis 🗣DRY!! 😹😹
I love that you emphasize the porosity and not the pattern 🙌🏽🦋 love the real ness in your video too boo cause with this Quarantine I been sleeping on my curls so this video got me ready for a new hair regime . Lol thank you baby!!!
For the 1000th time, WE LOVE TO SEE IT FRIEND 😭😍😍😍
Finally a comprehensive breakdown of this method. Thank you so much
Oil oil oil!! Lol! I’ve been following your tips for a long time and I get so many compliments on my hair. I owe it all to you- thank you for teaching us
I agree with everything Kimberly said...I did most of the tips she mentioned and it helped moisture train my hair...
ME AND MY DRY HAIR IS HEREEEE
I'm so mad that I'm just finding your channel. I'm just getting hip to moisture training after years of following the LCO method. You are such a great teacher! Thanks so much for sharing.
I just started adding leave in and sitting under the dryer with it let me tell you my hair has never felt so moisturized
Taylor Rogers do you put a cap on first? And how long do you sit under the dryer for?
Fiona M yup I add my leave in then put a cap on and sit under the dryer for about 10-15 minutes
I got rid of my wigs and have been doing wash & gos twice sometimes three times a week since February and babyyyyy . Hair just flourishing!
Yessss
I normally don’t comment but I have been WAITING for this. Okay let me go back and pay attention. 🥰
Yaaaayyy!!!!! I'm so excited to see you back!!!! Love you Freeennn!!!!
All high porosity is not considered damaged some people naturally have virgin high porosity hair.
Exactly
Funnily enough I’ve never viewed HP as damaged, why would people say that? I’m LP BTW
Exactly. My hair is healthy, it's just hp
Yeah idk where she got that from all porosities are normal unless that porosity is abnormal for your hair
Kim: “Know your porosity and throw curl type away”
Me: Say it louder for my people in the back please fren
Hair BEAUTIFUL love 💕💕
Only just discovered you last night - you’ve got a real spark to your personality. Love it. ❤️
i really like how happy u look in this video💖✨
Thank you thank you thank you!!! Water is so much better for moisture instead of oils for my hair. Tried it!!!
Yasssss!!! Love to hear it fren
Thank you for this. I was over here watching another you tuber who claims that low porosity hair dries fast and that has to do with curl type. I had to unsubscribe and pray for a video from you!😭 Thanks for the info...will try the wash and go for 3 months.
lol are you referring to alyssa marie??
I’ve very low porosity hair and it takes a long time to dry 😭 n that’s bad cz i start sneezing after a while
I couldn’t believe it either when I watched it because at the end of the day, she edited that video before post so even if it was a mess up she could have corrected herself but when the chile put the hashtag on the screen I wanted to throw my phone 😩😩😩😩😩
MissLelee Lmao who was it
Denise Hackner Definitely not low porosity without heat.
Your personality is EVERYTHING!
I've been struggling so much with moisture!! Sometimes my hair is juicy and full of life then others it looks like I was traveling in the desert for days with NO WATER!!🤦♀️🤷♀️ The struggle is real out here!!. I'm trying Frennn. Thanks for the tips. I just gotta do better.😔
Update: still struggling!!😒 I just don't know what to do anymore!! Maybe I need to find a professional to do something with my curls!! My roots are so frizzy!!! I think the only thing that holds in my hair is grease!!
This is the video I've been waiting for..... yeeeeeessssss
From my limited experience, I feel like my hair retains moisture when it’s twisted versus in wash in goes. I’ll keep your advice regarding consistently wearing wash-n-gos in mind.
Rita Jacobs That was my question too!
wash and go styles do not work for me.
Chile!!! The best tips that I’ve been doing that I needed was to put the leave in in the shower, putting a plastic cap on after the shower, using clarifying shampoos more often, etc. This video is soo informative. You did that!!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
I never realized how many oils are in products already! Felt like she was coming for my neck! 😂
Just did the big chop and THIS IS THE BEST VID SO FAR
Yay!!! Yes this is a great start. Check out my Mastering the wash and go series as well.
It’s in my playlists
Why did I feel attacked when sis was talking about adding oils🤷🏽♀️ Okay I’ll take a look at what I’m doing with the extra oils. Okay, okay 😂😂😂
My hair loves oils, i listen more to my hair than the influencer.
I know I hate when ppl touch my hair but sis.............your hair looks amazing n touchable.
“After 7 days everybody shit dry” 🤣🤣🤣
Teach the people fren yesssss.
This was very informative 👍🏽💪🏽🖤
I just love you channel and content. This info and your techniques are game changers! I've seen so much growth! Keep educating us. I'm always here for it!
I keep telling myself that I would only do wash and go’s when my hair gets longer but I realized I don’t really know my hair I just use the products my sister uses and my growing rate is fast but my length retention and moisture routineis not good at all so this just motivated me to do more wash and gos
Omg missed you girllll 😭 nah you’re too funny. You are able to teach without making people feel bad, that’s a skill
If you detangle with a conditioner before applying your deep conditioner, and if you add additional water when applying your deep conditioner etc.. please?
Listen sis reading all dem oils on them products 😂👀 I felt attacked
Oils are not moisturisers, i thought that goes without saying 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Me too🤣🤣🤣
your hair looks goodt! a lot of hair youtubers got the length but not the moisture... ima listen to these tips!
Hey Kim. Really great content. I know you ALWAYS stress not using oils as a sealant. I do not like using oils as a sealant for my hair. However, have you ever done a pre-poo with aloe vera and then an oil combo? I did an overnight aloe vera and hot oil treatment last night and the results were amazing.
Thank you for being real with us, I feel better after having a failed hair wash day. Can't wait to try this 😌
Putting a plastic cap over your leave in is the bizzness!
Tell um frennnn!!!
Kimberly Cherrell 😘👊🏾
Your hair looks so amazing. I am going to definitely use your tips.
Just did box braids on my hair and told myself I was going to wear braids for the remainder of the summer 😩 now I wanna take them out so I can moisture train my hair 🤦🏾♀️
