For the person that asked (this is what I got from it). Others can chime in if they got other tips.
    1. Apply products in the shower (at least the leave in so your hair can fully get the moisture)
    2. Use heat (body heat via plastic bag, blow dryer, hot water, etc) to make sure keep your hair moisturize before you style
    3. When applying products, check how it reacts to your hair. With LP hair it will take a minute to absorb but if you notice it's not absorbing don't add more product. Try starting from scratch cause it won't come out as good as you might like (it will just sit on your hair)
    4. Once you apply the product correctly, sit under a hooded dryer (or airdry your hair. Time varies for how long your hair generally dries). It will elongate your curls. A diffuser of blow dryer is nice but it drys your hair unevenly and chances are your hair will shrink or some parts might not be dried (as I always experience)
    5. Get a technique that works for you. You will learn, through trial and error, how to get your best wash and go so learn your hair. Find out what it likes and how it reacts and stick to it.
That's it. Thanks again Kim for the tips

I know to do leave-in cond while in the shower for better results but how long should I wait to add the other products?? and should I still do in shower ?? maybe with it hot and steamy in the bathroom to keep the hair cuticles open ?

Everyone always say type 4b/4c hair can’t do wash-n-go’s 🙄🙄🙄 I’ve been out the shower for about 20 minutes now and my sister and mom are both asking me to do their hair! I should mention that I did get out the shower after the leave in and put a bag over my head while I towel dried myself off before putting the eco styler gel in. But I did however leave the door locked closed to keep the heat in 😂😂😂 still my wash and go has never turn out this way and it’s all because I did the majority of it in the shower!

Your hair wasn't dry the next day because you (micro)towel dried your low porosity hair after washing, and applied product onto already dried hair and therefore the products didn't penatrate your hair but just sat on top of your hair strands, causing your hair to remain covered with product sitting ontop 😊

Im a frizzy low porosity 4abcdefg headed woman writing this comment sitting with my blowdryer hood attachment on my head finishing up a wash and go. I avoided self made wash and gos for 2 years after collecting an expensive slew of gels, creams, activators, shampoos, and co washes that i purchased in hopes that my hair would have defined kinks and curls shellacked and frozen in place with a glorious gel cast. What i always ended up with was a gray crunchy residue ridden wiry helmet on my head. The only time i wore a wash and go was when i treated myself to my yearly visit to Tameka, the curl whisperer. I saw this video and nearly cursed you because you inspired me to go back and try something that always failed for me, and left me having to rinse my hair in the AM and go to work with a wet bun. I write to you this morning (its 3am) with thanks as i am drying my hair and it looks like i achieved a successful wng. My curls and kinks are defined, and frizz is to a minimum. My hair is letting the gel do its work. Thank you so much for taking the time to trouble shoot the wash n go, and display your technique in such a way that it really cues us on what to do, and why. You are definitely an educator. Now i can enjoy all these gels and such with out frustration. Thank you x 1000.

I love this video, I've been natural for 3 years now and I'm also low porosity and am literally just learning techniques that work for my hair. Seems like no matter what I do my hair is always dried out if I don't add a leave in directly after washing and bag it to allow it to seep in. I've been directing everyone I know with low porosity hair to your channel! We have to forget everything we've learned over the years, a lot of those rules do NOT apply to us! This is one of the best and most accurate vids on low porosity I've watched ever, so thanks for this!

Your hair isnt dry because your lo-po and when you stepped out the shower with DRY hair, it's harder for products to fuse (bind) together and work in your hairs favor. So the product AND the added cool water is just SITTING on your hair now. You can still see the product in your hair. Your hair is still beautiful tho😘

I have never successfully diffused my hair. Now I just need to know how to keep it moisturized and looking shiny past day one.

I said what I said! You just pushing out facts on Christmas Eve, Kimmie lol. I already knew after you added the leave-in that this was not gonna go well. Leave-ins are to be added in the shower on low porosity hair. I put hot water in my spray bottle then spray 3-4 sprays in the sink to get the cold water out of the tube before I spray water on my hair. Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas!

" Pretty okay "was my vibe for 2018... 😭😓 had to make it work
So this has left me FULLY informed I have some other things to get together before I start rocking my wash and gos.
Also firmly believe that my hair is low porosity.... or low to normal porosity in some sections.
I know when I dont sit under a dryer my hair at the roots always takes longer to dry especially if there's product....currently I dont have a hooded dryer so I endure and air dry ...I never thought about it before that it was also linked to the porosity...hmm

Kimberly Cherrell you definitely are. I'm a planner so you're totally helping me feel more prepared for when I want to set out into some different styles in 19' and what to expect out of my wash days.
      Techniques are key.

So Kimberly, your wash and goes do not last a week that you have to do them 3x a week

    • @brittmyzone8agarden
      @brittmyzone8agarden 5 років тому +2

Connie Arrington I believe that has more to do with the fact the influencers are making videos throughout the week therefore trying out different techniques and products so even they tend to manipulate their hair more... I could be wrong.

I have not commented on a youtube video before but I am so shook and I must say this. I did the big chop almost 2 years ago but have been wearing my hair in senegalese twists because I kept struggling with my wash and gos being so dry and undefined and I was ready to give up. But I decided to try again for the holidays because your video pointed out a bunch of problems that I had been having. I didn't realize I had low porosity hair and I had been doing everything wrong. I just changed my regimen based on your tips and it is like NIGHT AND DAY. I cannot believe it. I have not seen my hair like this in years. My curls are popping and I feel so so so happy so I just want to thank you so much. Please keep up the videos I am so grateful :)

Thank you so much for this priceless info! SIS! This is how my hair looks when I do my wash and goes and I always wondered why it looked white when saturated with products. I have always wanted to do a wash and go where the products went on clear. I would be looking a hot mess because my products would be sitting on top of my hair instead of my hair absorbing them. I have tried to use other products and got the same results. It would take all day and then some to dry. This is me exactly! Thanks for the facts!

When you said you study your hair and explained what was going on at each process PLUS gave reasons for doing certain things, it showed that you've spent time to become an expert; And as a yute who cyaa really be bothered with the whole heap of ambiguity on hair care, you're really helping a brother out! Thanks!
