Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Hey Chris! I’ve actually been using crayons for a few months now to color my baits for personal use! It saves on using the materials from my business and it really works out when you have that ugly green color from most remelts, to just chuck in a black crayon to dye it black instead of wasting all the black pigment! Good luck. And keep up the videos!
Thanks for doing these experiments!!! This has amazing potential, especially when I don’t necessarily want to have a lifetime supply of a weird color dye that I may only use a few times
Amazing tutorial as usual! I am going to start lure making, have been watching as many videos, and soaking up as much info as possible so that I'll know exactly what I'll need when I start purchasing product. You have by far the most informative videos out there, and the obvious passion you have for lure craft is infectious, and makes me want to start making my own lures more than ever. This could be a way of getting by without having to spend much on pigments to start out, and pick up a couple more molds instead haha. Thanks again for all the great information you share with us, and please don't stop.
Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.
Hey Chris! Wow, it actually worked! When I first saw the title I thought you were setting yourself up to fail. But of course you nailed it again. What an awesome video. Thanks for the work you do for us! Incredible!
wow thanks for the experiment, i can get crayons at just about any shop in South Africa but plastisol colourants are hard to come by, so this is going to help me greatly.Thank you.
Seems like a GREAT alternative to pricey pigments! The smell leaves even bigger questions about the usability, since scent plays a large part in attracting the fish.
I didn't think the wax would work so well, but they turned out great! The Bubblegum was my favorite, you reminded me that I should go get some pink worms now haha. Awesome video
Just looking at the title before even clicking on the video the first thought was it's not gonna work, as soon as it sets the wax is gonna turn hard again. This really shocks me and is totally awesome! I gotta try it!
This is badass lol if you buy one of those big boxes of crayons the color combinations could be endless would be a great way to do some testing before investing in higher priced pigments. I have a question do you use any scents on any of your plastics? Perhaps making your own and putting them on a couple and going to fish with them would be a good experiment.
That looks like a great color. The Okeechobee crawl was my favorite. Looks perfect. And you used crayons. Nice I always love these kind of videos fun and I love it when you prove another way to change colors with non traditional materials.
I love this! I’m always looking for new things to throw in some plastic to see what it does. And bubble gun is a Canadian favourite! Have you ever thought of throng to get a clear mold? I think it would be neat to watch what happend son the inside
thanks for the video and the idea of crayons. my only question is, it seems the crayons dont go very far in that you might get 3-4 cups of plastic and the crayon is gone. so how cost effective are crayons really vs buying pigments?
Oh I have no idea and that is completely beside the point, just a fun experiment as a bait maker.. unintended to be a real world alternative solution, but they do work very nicely.
Hi! I am just getting into soft bait making. I was just wondering after all this time, has the texture changed now or are they still pretty soft and squishy to the touch? Especially if you haven’t put them in water. Thank you!
Questions how well did these baits hold up after some use since it is something that is rather different than the standard colorant systems. Did the wax in the crayons mess with the baits after a while. Was wondering if you have tired making a powder from colored pencils and tried using that to see what happens
You are always doing the coolest stuff. I was not expecting these results! :O I think that sunshine flake would look beautiful in a clear shell with maybe a chartreuse behind it, maybe some yellows or lime greens of some sort?
Hello mate .. i have been watching and learning from you a lot. I was wondering about the price of an aluminum mold. Could you mention price range min to max that i could have an idea? Thanks and please keep doing new things that we can learn.😊
Well I'm 'GOB SMACKED' I would have never thought that the wax would act like that! I can just imagine the BIGMOUTHS looking for colouring books😂🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣. Absolutely brilliant video thank you for sharing & take care my friend 👍😷👍🏴
Publix subs are some of the best. I've had a Italian sub from main bar in Sarasota and that was hands down the best Italian I've ever had. Other than that public is the best around my area. (Ft Myers)
the only thing is price compared to the dye? was thinking when cools the bait would be firmer and seperate a bit when cool. like brittle. nice work!!!!!
Do you know how it holds up to the heat while fishing on your boat? Will it bleed some of the colors on to a surface like a boat deck? But it's amazing what you did. The colors are awesome. Thanks.
Great video Chris. I enjoy your channel . A couple of ?'s Do the worms smell like crayons? How was the flexibility of the worms in cold water? Can't wait for the next video.
I've got a question that I need to send you some pictures for. But I got a big bag of mixed baits and 2 of the ribbon tails have some very stiff heads. It looks like a hand made bait that I've never seen and you can see some lamination marks where it switches to a much softer plastic. Have you ever seen or done that before or is that even possible?
Paraffin is the wax that is used in crayons and takes a long time to biodegrade. Now some are made with a wax made from soybeans which biodegrades faster. it would be interesting to see how each holds up in lures. (I believe the ones you used are of the paraffin variety). Interesting experiment... Let us know how they hold up fishing.
Im not surprised, with all the other weird things you have done this one is probably my personal favorite. I wonder would the color fade after being in the water for a bit?
is the wax really blending in with the plastisol? also i really think a floating test is in order as well since you would think the wax would make them float more then without crayons
I knew someone that would use colored pencils cores to make dye for string bracelets. He said it took twice the amount of the reds to make the color look right. Try color pencils next time and see how that turns out.
Who knew haha..which were your favorites??
Your my favorite UA-camr
@@jamesnixonbaseball9114 🙏🙏
Next video you should see about trying to make a trick worm with markers
I wonder if it would like mix the colors in a cool way and make a tie die kind of worm or creature bait
Gimme 5 or 10 and I'll have ur answer 😁😁 :me looks 26 min well we better add another 10min to that lmao

thats awesoe
If you've done laminates, does the color bleed?
@@cant_hit_nuttingaming3464 so far I have used black and brown and blue, so far they haven’t bled on me! Good luck!
The first worm colour with black crayon and orange holo flake gives me Mepps Black Fury vibes 🔥
Thanks for doing these experiments!!! This has amazing potential, especially when I don’t necessarily want to have a lifetime supply of a weird color dye that I may only use a few times
Haha nice..they work
That’s awesome! Make sure to do a follow up with durability, action, etc.

2 mins 2 mins well worth it "mighty ducks". When ducks fly ducks fly together. A favorite of my childhood movies.
Haha yes!!
Yes I knew I wasnt the only one that got it! Ducks fly together!
7:31 "I don't think I can do better than this" proceeds to hand pour perfectly over and over
Freaking perfect! Crayola Craw!!! ooh ooh!....CRAWola lol oh jeez...
Hahahaha
Crawn

The Bubblegum was my favorite, you reminded me that I should go get some pink worms now haha. Awesome video
Awesome video, I just watched the salt vs no salt video, you should test how crayons affect how the soft plastic sinks and its action in the water
Love the black orange flake worm! Seems like it would be a killer stained water bait
I was pleasantly surprised at how well they turned out. Good job!
Just looking at the title before even clicking on the video the first thought was it's not gonna work, as soon as it sets the wax is gonna turn hard again. This really shocks me and is totally awesome! I gotta try it!
Yeah it was crazy
Awesome! Who would a thunk! Thanks for sharing and plan on trying that!
Thanks for watching
Great idea 🤯👍!!!! I had no idea. Beautiful colors
Man those craws look amazing!!!! For fun videos like this you should collaborate with Norm and have him test and fish with them!
That would be cool!
hmm, was watching Marling baits make some soft baits and he mentioned check out Chris over there. This is pretty cool, glad i am here.
So fun! I used crayons to color my homemade skate wax back in the 90s! 🤙

Did a whole video with special clear molds .. check it out
I love those movies the quotes from. Recently introduced my son to them and he's loving them too.
Try those orange flakes with a green pumpkin. I have an old pit boss in that color that has done well.
I am shocked that crayons worked so well. I love these experimental videos!
Thanks so much for watching
Yes please do more with the bright neon ish flakes. I'm a sucker for the neon ish colors on lures. They get me every time. Lol 🎣🇺🇸🎣
I have used a polyurethane automotive paint for coloring before. It seems to have worked just fine.
Your excitement in this video is absolutely the best. Lol keep it up my guy. Great lures too
Haha thanks sir

Wow great job Chris, where did you get those open pour ribbon tail molds.
Watch you fill the molds was so satisfying for some odd reason 😂😂
Hi! I am just getting into soft bait making. I was just wondering after all this time, has the texture changed now or are they still pretty soft and squishy to the touch? Especially if you haven’t put them in water. Thank you!
I really learn a lot from you,i work in hair and wire, but you make me think outside the box, thanks
Happy to hear that!
the claws seem firmer not as floppy nice job, do the tubs seem to come off the tube easier, I was also thinking to add red to that pink ( bubble gum )
Questions how well did these baits hold up after some use since it is something that is rather different than the standard colorant systems. "2 minutes, well worth it" its gotta be Mighty Ducks, cant be anything else. Also as a complete hockey buff, loved the quote thank you ❤
Hahahaha yep
Wu! Wu! Kenny Wu!
That carnation pink is one heck of a good bubblegum color.
it really is...even the next day they look great

Gotta admit the red white and blue hand poured worms look awesome
how did you deal with the re-heat? Crayons have a flash point far lower than 350 so I am amazed nothing smoked or caught fire.
Bloody amazing mate.
Thank ya
That's cool, I'm going to have to grab some now!
I often use oil based artists paint as pigment and that goes well
Go for it!
I wasn't sure the color saturation was going to do so well. They came out great. Do they smell any different? Like melted wax / crayons.
What injector do you use? I have a do-it molds smaller size one and have the worlds trouble using it
the only thing is price compared to the dye? was thinking when cools the bait would be firmer and seperate a bit when cool. like brittle. nice work!!!!!
Those ribbon tail worm look awesome especially the new ones
This was a really cool experiment. Handy to know it works in a pinch.
Indeed
That is an awesome color. "rootbeer" for sure
Do you know how it holds up to the heat while fishing on your boat? Will it bleed some of the colors on to a surface like a boat deck? But it's amazing what you did. The colors are awesome. Thanks.
I actually like that orange flake in the black worm. Almost gives it that root beer look without a brownish base
👍👍
I'm amazed how well the crayons worked, the ectocraw and the bubble gum were my favorites can't wait to see what the next experiment is gonna be
Thanks man
That black with orange flake is a very good color on lake Champlain
Great video Chris. I enjoy your channel . A couple of ?'s
Do the worms smell like crayons? How was the flexibility of the worms in cold water?
Can't wait for the next video.
They actually did smell like crayons, did not do any sort of water test
The smell leaves even bigger questions about the usability, since scent plays a large part in attracting the fish.
Add some fish attractant to the mix....might work
I've got a question that I need to send you some pictures for. But I got a big bag of mixed baits and 2 of the ribbon tails have some very stiff heads. It looks like a hand made bait that I've never seen and you can see some lamination marks where it switches to a much softer plastic. Have you ever seen or done that before or is that even possible?
Possible to recreate or did someone just make a mistake
need to land some of the old creepy crawler molds for bait making
thank you so much!! ive been looking for a local place to pick up some pigment... ITS EVERYWHERE!!!
Awesome stuff bro!!!
Dude all of them are fire man!
the first crawfish ones were my favorite for sure...i want those lol

Yes these were paraffin
Awesome, another great video!
🙏🙏
the punch craw is amazing with the brown swirl in the green pumpkin.
they are really nice
Im not surprised, with all the other weird things you have done this one is probably my personal favorite. I wonder would the color fade after being in the water for a bit?
Not sure .. I'll definitely test them
Oooh laundry is back!! You know its gunna be a good video if you see the washer and dryer in the first minute 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
I have to take a break from making baits. I have a little plastic burn on my arm. So I'm putting together some skirts for my jigs and spinnerbats
Oh damn..sorry to hear
Have you ever thought of using koolaid as a colourant? I have used it to die wool for tying jigs
Curious of the longevity of these, have any after three years? lol just got into open pouring and want to know if this is actually liable
Man that’s sweet. Who would have thought hey I got crayons let’s make fish baits out of it. But the craws are spot on
Haha thanks
They look amazing!!
Another great pour video. Have you put them in water? The wax may make them very buoyant!?!? And or colder water may stiffen them up!?!?
Bahahaha the washing machine debate continues Chris lol.
loving the craw and pink.
It can make some interesting color combos or color enrichment
Hey where can I buy that ecto craw mold I’m in love with it
Angling Ai molds
is the wax really blending in with the plastisol? also i really think a floating test is in order as well since you would think the wax would make them float more then without crayons
There appeared to be no film or layer of any material on the surface of the plastic, the baits actually feel very normal
What plastisol do you use and is that one avalibel in europe?
I bet that the orange flake would work very well with a pearl blue plastisol
I knew someone that would use colored pencils cores to make dye for string bracelets. He said it took twice the amount of the reds to make the color look right. Try color pencils next time and see how that turns out.
AN FYI....Bright orange was a favorite for the northerns in upper Canada.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!! TY TY TY FOR DOING PINK!!!!!!!!! Luv it!!!!!!
💪💪
substitute shredded crayon wrapper for flake ftw.
You are the best lures maker I have seen
Thanks so much
i want make the pink worms and fish them like a wacky worm,,, very cool video thanks
Oh wow...I love those ribbon tail worms....how do I purchase some of them...please tell me
Have you tried food coloring? Ritz dye? India ink?
that looks awesome, damn nice work.
im not typically on this channel but glad i clicked good job
That’s is crazy!!! Mind blowing !!
Haha agree
Sweeet! Now my question is will these "bleed" color or are they safe to store without worrying about it?. Thanks for the great vids!
Mighty ducks! Man your hand is so steady when you pour!
D2 baby
You are making some marines hungry with this video haha
I love that color
this is pretty darn cool ima have to try this one time that worked better then I thought it would awesome idea man that has my wheels turning now lol
Yeah it's surprising
