I once dropped my Aqua Terra onto the tiles from a height of five feet. I heard a big bang, checked my watch and nothing had happened. Then I looked at the floor fearing I had broken some tiles... I was probably lucky, but on that occasion the watch had proven to be super solid.

Here's a question for you: I've recently become interested in watch brand swag you can find secondhand on the online marketplace (Rolex business card holders, Lange & Sohne pens, old Omega in-store display trinkets, etc) although I haven't actually bought anything (yet.)
Do you have any interest in these sort of peripheral knick knacks? Part of me thinks that any money spent on this suff would be best saved for actual watches, but on the other hand I like the idea of a Longines paperweight on my desk at work.

Loved AET, but it didn't match the feel of your solo content, which I much prefer (I like honest Mr. Boring much more than silliness and shouting). TGN is my current favorite podcast, and I'd love to see something like that regularly from you. I like that most of your videos come-in under 10 minutes. That's good for me. Shorter. Snappier. Focused. Still full of your personality, but talking about something specific. More of that would be good, but let's be honest.. I'd watch your content anyway 💁‍♂

I think watch brands like JLC and Seiko (and others) are getting more expensive because they are seeing the ridiculous prices on some watches and they think:
    "Why not us? "
"Why shouldn't we sell at higher profit margins if others do?"
Contrary to Adrian's opinion, I think their existing margins are already enaough to make the company profitable.
But if they can go for more profit they will give it a try. I would probably do the same in their place.

JLC's 2023 price hike of 35% had little to do with inflationary pressures. It was all about repositioning the brand to make it comparable to Rolex and other more luxury brands. In their view, their long standing reputation of offering good value was outweighed by greed and extracting maximum profit. Are Richmont obliged to increase shareholder value even in recessionary times?

I would prefer the longer in depth videos, as I feel you have the presence and personality to entertain in this way. My biggest criticism, if I may, is that generally your short videos about releases etc, are no different from the rest! We already know the specs, the history and the story and I feel you are better than that and crucially could grow your audience much further. You wouldn't be out of place at all, in my opinion, presenting Hodinkee, so why not create your own version! I have followed you pretty much from the off and will continue, but you asked for opinions etc etc!!

I definitely think you need to nail down a purpose or identity for this channel. I watch everything you do and have for years but I am not sure what's going on with the channel at the moment. I would love for you to do something like the old Walk & Rant videos again and i think consumers would like to watch someone who holds a mirror up to this industry and politely calls them out on their lack of imagination, ridiculous pricing and all the other questionable decisions they seem to make. But in a non-shouty way and with great photography.

I think a collaboration could definitely work for Bark & Jack, rather than a dedicated watch brand. Also, please do a series like 'talking watches'. Hodinkee is on its arse and I feel lost touch with the roots. I really enjoy seeing 'normal' collections and hearing the stories and meaning behind individuals' watches. Not just the piece unique and top end stuff - but the accessible watches too

Hey Adrian, I have a question for you. There is a watch that I’ve been looking at on EBay at a great price and has the authenticity guarantee as well as a high positive feedback from customers. My concern is that it’s 23% cheaper than if purchased straight from the dealer. The watch is brand new with box and papers. Just wanted to get your thoughts. Love your posts.

Great video, mate. I’ve had a change of heart around the new F1 and think your comments are actually pretty fair. I won’t be surprised if we see a similar release (without the Kith LE aspect) in the long-term.

The Omega Speedmaster price went up significantly with the introduction of the new movement. I think from £4000 to £6000.

Point about the price hikes. Don’t forget the difference in currency exchange rates which are notoriously volatile and in turn affecting retail prices.

That’s very true, I should have mentioned that. I had an interesting chat with the CEO of Hamilton about their price increases and he explained their watches are actually the same price in CHF, it’s the conversion to other currencies that has changed.

20 min (cap) UA-cam interviews are a sweet spot for me. The 40 min length is a bit much and 30 min ones seem to be able to be edited to 20. ;)

I saw the price hike with the Seikos and Omega. I wasn't paying attention to JLC but they must all be in the same boat. Except Rolex, charge what they like, don't care about customrrs at all. They're selling a dream.

What crash? A watch that used to sell for triple the list price now selling for only double the list price isn’t a crash. It’s still ridiculous. In general luxury items are already overpriced at list price.

Adrian, long format would be awesome BUT - definitely keep the visuals coming, not just podcast style. Also consider adding more “real life” shots. Hafiz J Mehmood is the only one I can think of that has done this expertly. Macros are great, but dime-a-dozen. We rarely get to see what it’s like to see a watch at arms length or normal viewing distance as-in, how others would see it sitting across from you. Keep up the great stuff.

The market is changing. I popped into my local Rolex AD to ask about an Explorer and the wait list, and they offered me one there and then. Unfortunately I need to get rid of a couple of watches to help fund it and the AD doesn't deal with the secondary market so I had to leave it.
