No idea who this fella was before the introduction and knowing made no difference ... just enjoyed his enthusiasm and enjoyment of his collection. More of this type of content and guest please 👍
@@svanvoorthuizen2886 dialogue between two watch people, talking through a collection off/journey, good fun to watch. Very relatable. Hodinkee built itself on the talking watches concept
I love James McVey! Such a lovely human! I loved hearing him talk through his watches. But the real question: did you guys outfit colour match on purpose?! 😝
I had absolutely no idea who James was. And I could not have cared less about it. In the end, he's a bloke who likes watches. No matter where we are from, or what we do in life, this interest in watches brings us all together. Great talk. Loved it.
I hadn’t heard of this young man previously. Charming and down to earth which is wonderful to see. Great watch collection too especially the linen dial day date wow Excellent interview well done
Oh man, more of this Adrian! This was solid, it's always so interesting what other people's collections look like and the narrative behind each decision.
Finally a talking watches-type piece of content in which we see some of the not-so-usual suspects. Anyone who will blend his Grand Seiko's with Rolex, Studio Underd0g, Omega, and Christopher Ward is a true enthusiast in my view. Loved it.
This was great. I love these types of sit downs and this ranks at the top. Nice work! Doesn’t hurt that his collection was pretty killer; my man had the sweetest of sweet Christopher Ward!
YES, YES, YES. Great video. Nice conversation. Good balance of discussing the specific pieces, stories, and thoughts on collecting. I also appreciate lots of long close-ups of the watches. Many videos do not spend enough time showing the pieces that are being discussed close up, and in good detail. I’m on the record now, that’s good quality content. Thanks!
Adrian this was one the best video, please keep this kind of interviews , nice and purity affordable collection of watches. Also de sound was superlative, very clear, I watch de video in my iPad in the gym running in the treadmill with earphones and I can differentiate the sound coming from you or your visit as also the sound when the watches are contacting the wood of the coffee table , excellent views of the watches too. Thanks!!! Keep doing this kind of videos
Lovely content. Great to see someone so clearly enthusiastic and knowledgable about his watches and the people behind them. Also supporting British watch brands!
American here, so this guy is a musician? Thank you Adrian for covering that in the opening. I would have never known who this was and why you'd be interviewing him.
Seemed like a top guy, and a genuine watch enthusiast. I really appreciated the fact his collection included Rolex, to Studio Underd0g, and that he made a point of praising Christopher Ward too. I hate collectors who describe proper watches as “shitters”, it’s just a dumb thing to say, especially as we see Rolex prices continue to tank to levels that more represent their true worth. Excellent video, I loved the energy and format. 👏
Nice video, very relaxed setting and good chat. Looking forward for the next episode. The Bel Cantos are really a hit and well loved, happy to see a small brand having such a smash hit and people loving them! Well done Adrian & Team!
Great video and a great collection too. It feels very much like an obtainable collection (within reason) compared to a collection of completely unaffordable and out of reach high end watches which was refreshing.
Superb interview Adrian, fascinating to see someone else’s watch journey and I must say as an interviewer you did a great job of letting your interviewee do the talking. So many interviewer try to take over but this was just the right level of informal casual conversation whilst also having a structure to it. Kudos to you and hope to see more of this alongside your other wonderful work.
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the mamacoo book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
I really like your point about researching the watch to hell before you buy it, having already finished its story by the time it's on your wrist. This is something I tend to do and never realized until you said it - this is why sometimes for me, the culminating moment of getting the watch on my wrist doesn't feel as magnificent as I has hoped.
Love this style of content! Not heart of this guy but he seems like a really sound lad with an incredible collection 👏. Keep up the good work Adrian!!!
First time on this channel and I don't really know these guys but it was nice to watch. The fact that the guest would mention his "budget" was in a way relatable to me. Though his budget is very much more than mine.
What an absolutely feel good conversation it was! Amazing how down to earth James was, seems like a really nice chap who got sucked in tho this horological rabbit hole. This is a bangin' idea to have a coffee with different enthusiasts and geek out in this chilled fashion! Great job Adrian, thanks for the new theme, I think there's a lot in this direction! 🙌🙌🙌
“everything about this watch [two-tone Datejust] is what I wasn’t when I got my Submariner” - that’s it. that’s what I love so much about this hobby, and about collecting - if done right, your collection grows as you grow, and as your taste evolves you learn that there’s a place for a modern Sub and a two-tone vintage Datejust - in the same collection, and on the same wrist.
Love this video. I could spend hours taking watches like this. Great collection and how refreshing that there’s no snobbery and a real mixed bag of styles and value especially for someone that could probably afford £20k plus watches a plenty.
The most pure and clean person you can see - is an 30 years old ex boy-band member, not in a negative state, James is honest guy and his collection is superb.
Not aware of this man's music, but really interesting conversation! More please. Also I want to know where and how he's chosen a lot of those straps, because those choices are exemplary!
Please do more of these interviews, Adrian! Really nice content. James seems like a nice humble guy, im sure you will come up with a few more people like him. Cheers from Hamburg, Germany

All the people commenting 5 minutes after the release on how amazing this 17 minute video is. 😃 I'm at minute 13 and evaluation is pending. Edit: 4 minutes later. Can confirm. Amazing video. Love the new format!
On the Daydate…even if it’s option 4, the dial was fitted aftermarket and it’s not Rolex, does it matter? It’s beautiful. It’s yours. It means something to you. Just enjoy it and ignore the hype/trolls/people who aren’t in your life judging a watch they’ve not got. If it weren’t for Social Media, you wouldn’t know or care anyway. That goes for everyone, about everything. Just do what you want, not what everyone else wants. You’ll be happier for it.
Great video as usual! A Bel Canto in tobacco sunburst is a knockout! James McVey is a great guest! someday have him over to showcase guitars and watches.
I own a Daytona that I bought in Iran back in 1998. It's still in perfect running condition, and I remember the excitement of purchasing it like it was yesterday. Now, I'm curious to see how much it's worth today, so I'm planning to do a little research. It's amazing to think how the value of these timeless pieces can appreciate over the years.
I had Rolex change the dial in my 2019 bi colour Daytona from black to white in 2021, just had to pay for the service and the dial, cost about £1400 all in & they sent the original dial back with the watch.
Great choice for an interviewee, and i definitely have experienced where my taste in watches has "matured" ...ie changed over the twenty years I've been into this lovely hobby.
