"I've experienced a couple of things that you'll never experience: The feeling of being the No. 1 overall draft pick in the NFL. And a 28th wedding anniversary; it was yesterday." Drew Bledsoe to Tom Brady. 🤣
The Roast was hilarious, but my favorite part was Bill, Robert, and Tom having a shot together. Awesome! It was also nice to just see people being people, no matter of politics, just laughing and having fun and not taking things seriously.
Apparently a cut for time joke that Nikki did was towards Gronk saying when the Concussion movie with Will Smith came out he thought it was a sequel to Men in Black.

Loved seeing Richs facial expressions and couldn't wait to hear what was going through his head . I enjoyed that and it was definitely a therapy session. Let's fucking go
I feel bad for bill on the craft deal. He gets let go and screwed over with the falcons, comes on the roast as a good sport to Tom. Then he has no choice on live tv but to take a shot with the guy who just did all that to him. No win situation for bill.
Ben…no clue cause I genuinely like him, but he should have stayed home. Horrible. Ron…I was cringing at first, but he got a head of steam and landed a few good ones. The character just needs to retire forever.
I think Tony Hinchcliffe was an incredible example of being a comedian who doesn’t limit their comedy based on rules about who/what you can’t joke about, but doesn’t say anything that could be viewed as hatred. I speak carefully, as I don’t want to be lumped in with people who say “cancel culture” and “woke mob” every other sentence. That said, I *despise* the notion that jokes about certain groups is equivalent to violence, or that it’s acceptable to campaign to end someone’s career if you think _another group’s_ feelings could be hurt. Tony Hinchcliffe, Shane Gillis, and others are finally walking comedy back to its normal state-hallelujah.
Didn't he call someone a racial slur and then do an offensive impersonation of an Asian person at one set? That would be career-ending in any normal job.
@@charliepanayiotou4305 Okay but comedy is kinda far from a normal job, no? Aside from child friendly standup, _a lot_ of the subjects talked about in standup would be career-ending if you someone tried to incorporate them into their normal job. Regarding your question about Tony, I encourage you to look into it and come to your own conclusion. Note that he was following a set by an Asian comedian, Peng Deng, whose set had consisted largely of jokes about white people. Peng posted Tony's set, but not before deleting anything that could be deemed racist or offensive from his own channel, and engaged in a sort of press tour. I am not Peng Deng, so I can't tell you his intentions, but I can tell you that it very much seemed like a calculated move designed to garner some publicity. I'm not even some big fan of Tony Hinchcliffe, aside from his set at the Brady roast, I'd only seen him through clips of Kill Tony, which isn't him doing standup. My point is more that it seems like more and more people are realizing that typical "cancellings" aren't organized and executed by people who had jokes made at their expense and became rightfully offended, they're organized and executed by people on Twitter who get to tear someone big and successful down, and then pat themselves on the back for being such a good and compassionate person.

If unparalleled success over 20 years, in a venue (NFL) designed to level the playing field, so as to give the opportunity to other teams to make their mark in the annals of admiration on a cycle of just a couple of years is the goal. Then the therapy is not for the Pats, it’s for the rest of the league to try and emulate. Though everyone latches onto this therapy scenario, the Pats organization knows that they accomplished something that will never be done again. Because the right people, with the right mindset, worked at, and perfected the blueprint to beat the design set up to accept mediocrity. And if you just look at those 20 years in a geographic sports view, the Pats mindset did rub off in the fact that the tally was 6 Super Bowls 4 World Series 1 Stanley Cup 1 NBA championship Now that’s good therapy
I was thinking about NBA people. I feel like Magic and Larry would be GREAT together. MJ would be terrible, because he would take everything personally.
I'm not surprised that Brady would agree to the roast. Several sportscasters have noted that there's probably nothing said here that wasn't said in the locker room while Brady was playing. He did set one boundary (Kraft) which is appropriate, both ways - there has to be at least one artist/comedian (just like musicians!) who pushed the envelope, as well as several lines. Drew Bledsoe as (near) opener set the table. The other brilliant but simple piece - Netflix was the perfect media outlet for this. Broadcast TV, even cable TV, and even among streamers/paid channels - what would be the alternative? Max formerly HBO would have been the heritage choice.
