Thanks for this, I'm starting off with Pizzicato - Just gaining muscle memory in 1st position, my fingers feel natural, but when I put the violin down, my wrist was very sore 🤣 So when you mentioned about it being the elbow doing the movements it made more sense 🙏
Thank you for making this video. having small hand, i really struggle to reach G string and also placing fingers on E string. i will surely try this technique.
My wrist was so sore i was going to give up thinking my arms were just wrecked from work, l will give thid a try. So simple i missed it, thank you. Wont give up just yet.
im not a beginner but ive been mostly self taught and recently started feeling pain while practicing a concerto,, ive been playing for 8 years and i think i do this lol 😅 ig now i can fix it
I'm very much a beginner, but this is super helpful! I find it slightly more uncomfortable trying to reach the G string with my pinky but I think I definitely move my wrist too much. Will try this exercide out next time I practice, thanks!
That's the problem I had in class yesterday. I just started the G string and my wrist hurts trying to play those notes. Especially fourth finger D. Even though she was explaining the E string this helped me with my issue.
That was so helpful! I've always instinctively thought that my elbow needed to go out as my fingers went to the higher strings. Such a dummy. This is so much easier! Thank you and I look forward to watching all your other videos.
It will be very helpful for me, i tried to play the three octaves G major and it was very difficult, now i am sure that will be more easier, thanks a lot...
I am having difficulty when practicing double stop thirds where the lower note is let’s say played with my fourth finger and the higher note is played with my second finger… And I can’t stop my wrist from collapsing. Can you suggest anything or any exercises to assist? THANK YOU
Back in my first year playing, sometimes i hold my violin with my wrist going forward allowing my palm of my hand nearly touch the violin until i corrected my wrist in a proper position.
Dear Amanda Violin Girl! I'm pretty sure you will be able to do vibrato! On G and D string. Just swing your elbow so you can reach your G and D strings. Remember knock side rock fro. HEATHERS AN EASIER WAY VIDIO AND TAKE NICOLAS BEGINNING VIBRATO AND I BELIEVE IF YOU WILL PRACTCE 5 MIN A DAY YOU WILL BEGIN TO ACHIEVE VIBRATO ON G AND D. FOCUS ON A STRING FIRST AND GET THAT DOWN PAT. THEN SHIFT YOUR THUMB UNDER THE NECK TO REACH THE G AND D STRINGS. JUST BECAUSE YOU MAY HAVE SMALL HANDS YOU CAN STILL PLAY THE VIOLIN. LOOK UP VIOLIN STARS VIDIO SHE TACKLES SMALL HAND ISSUES. JUST PRACTICE A LITTLE EACH DAY.😅
I am struggling a bit with my left hand. After a few minutes, my hand feels very stiff which does not seem right. Is this normal when you are first learning? Will the stiffness go away with practice? Is there an exercise that I can do to reduce the pain?
Hi Kevin! It’s hard to say what’s causing your stiffness without seeing your setup. Make sure you are staying relaxed as you play (not gripping the neck) and taking breaks as needed. You should not be experiencing pain when you play. Best of luck to you!
Do you suffer from a chronically crooked wrist? 🤔🎻
Yes 😅😅😅
Been playing for five years and i recently found some discomfort, thanks for the vid
Yes, huge problem, thanks for great tips!

i just thought my hands were too small to reach across😂
Of all the lessons for violin on tube, that I saw yours are the most practical and the most intelligent. thank you ~

Liked again one year later as I forgot... and pain is no gain !!!
3:56 "We just starting with our finger hovering over the g-string" made me giggle :D
Lol!
I can do vibrato easily on the E string and A string but not on the D and G.
Keep working at it, Amanda! You’ll get there.

Sounds like a classic case of a collapsed wrist! Glad you were able to correct it.
My thumb at the bow grip aches badly after practicing, the tip of thumb is problomatic 🤔😥
Hm, sounds like you might be holding the bow a little too tightly.
@@TheTuneProject🧐 I am trying to lift out the pressure somehow 😥
