The biggest help for me was definitely the wrist smile and Hill. Easy images to understand.

Such a big help! I have always played with tension in both my left hand and my bowing hand as well. My teacher tells me that I need to connect my notes more in my scales, without a break after each note. I didn't realize I was doing that and have struggled with a tense, straight wrist and finding a way to make the motion more fluid. Your tutorial has really helped me get the feel and motion in my wrist so that I can connect my notes better!!! I like the bow hold explanation too. I curve my thumb but don't do it on the angle of my thumb. Lots of ideas and things to try to improve. Thanks!!

YAY! Super excited you found some answers to immediately improve your playing. Many teachers say what needs to be done but leave out the important part of how to physically achieve that result.

This was a great help for me, thank you. The best for me was to clearly and slowly see your wrist movement, as well as practice middle of the bow and at the frog in front of the mirror. I already see some improvement. Thank you!

Yes! It was an ah ha moment for me watching how my wrist should look at the frog and the tip. No one has ever showed it the way you have. Thank you!

Thanks for the video. My ah ha moment was when you mentioned not raising the elbow as much and keeping the shoulder relaxed. I know the wrist was supposed to raise up, but was raising my elbow so much that the wrist didn't need to raise much at all.

How is the violin coming along?

@HeatherKaye hi. Thanks for checking in. I got through some open string exercises, and was doing fairly well. I got a little discouraged, as I just feel my bow hand placement and movements are not where they should be. I haven't played in a couple months. I've been telling myself to get back to it, as to not lose progress.

Very useful. The problem when first learning is you are having to be so focused on what notes come next that technique goes awol. But once you have familiarised with a few pieces you can focus entirely on the technique. I'm 62 and so enjoying learning to play. I am finding that its not just the violin you have to master but more importantly your own body, because the violin becomes briefly a part of your body. I have been a builder most of my life and my muscles have certain rigid holding patterns, I am having to do lots of stretching exercises. I will check out your course Heather, Thank you!

Keep it up! Take the time to get your posture down. Have patience with yourself. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Thank you for this video. I plan on wearing it out. I’m 68 and just had two lessons. I have a stiff wrist and I’m working hard to make that nice wrist at mid level- tip. I got the smile, that’s easy but the hump camel thing is hard for me

I rely too much on arm weight for smooth bow changes (my wrist rarely moving around) but it's still sound ok. Will this become a problem in future?

If dance pieces or bright song. Does this wrist movement apply too?

Thank you! I will do these exercises. My problem is that I think I'm bending my wrist but I'm not bending it enough when I'm playing a piece. I've videotaped myself and I'm shocked.

The elbow needs to be straight, in air, at the same level with the chord youre playing and changing the position(up/down) when changing cord, atleast thats what I was taught and it works so good
