Love this duo from the 70's. I had their albums. They had a lot of great songs such as "Angry Eyes", "House At Pooh Corner", "Your Mama Don't Dance", "Thinking Of You", "My Music", "Watching The River Run", "Vahevala", "Lahaina", "Sailin' The Wind", "Pathway To Glory" etc.
Danny is Kenny's brother. Danny found out his girlfriend was pregnant and was going to marry her. Kenny (one with the beard) took most of the lyrics directly from that letter. Btw the son's name is Colin. I met Jim Messina in the early 90s. A friend of mine was working for him at his Studio.
Woof, Someone I would love sitting down with him for coffee ☕️ with. Where I live, you can't fall down without landing in a coffee shop! I would love to know about his history with Poco, and prior, Buffalo Springfield ( he replaced the original base player) and before...of which I have a severe lack of knowledge of..as in none. Color me green with envy!
Logging and Messina released this song on their Sittin In album which went platinum. Their first three albums went platinum. They were very popular in the U.S. and I had the good fortune to see them multiple times during that time. This song was very popular on rock stations. She mentions it took almost 35 yrs. for her to hear it, but the song was released over 50 yrs. ago. Maybe she's only 35 !
Sitting in my room in rehab, recouping from an injury, staring out the window singing along to this song, feeling blue. A couple of nurses came in and started singing with me. I remember how much this song and the moment I spent with those kind women meant to me. I smiled the rest of the day. A simple song can bring joy to many!
So many brilliant songs by these guys. The long version of "Angry Eyes," "Be Free," "Watching the River Run," and on and on. This song was mostly Kenny Loggins. The two harmonized beautifully and their songwriting complemented each other. Saw them recently at The Hollywood Bowl and they were as good as ever. Messina is such a talented guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer, and engineer. Amazing talent.
Absolutely LOVE Loggins and Messina! Surely brings this old lady back! Lord, where did the time go? Love your heartfelt reaction,Britt! I SO enjoy your insight and enthusiasm! Love you, girl!❤️❤️
@karenharp4647 This song (& so many others) makes me ask myself that same exact question. Where, indeed? We had so much great music. There's a twinge of sadness to think about how long ago it was & how young we were then...but I wouldn't have missed those years for anything. Loved your comment. Hugs from Kentucky.💙🌿
@@deborahcornell171 for sure! And one of the things I remember from back then was how many older folk advised me to enjoy it now because it’s gone before you know it! Kenny "Danger Zone" Loggins is one of the voices you heard in the "We Are the World" song. He has a number of great songs with Jim Messina and a long and successful solo career. "House at Pooh Corner" is another good song for kids, or kids at heart.
Britt, your infectious personality, warm humor, gorgeous looks and enlarging appreciation of pop music, before your time … keep me returning to your entertaining platform. I am an 81-year-old geezer, who genuinely enjoys watching you discover classic tunes from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Yes, you did miss out on memorable music and iconic performers! Glad you are finally discovering them!
This song is one i grew up with. Sang it on the back step with my mom while she played the guitar. It set up my expectations for what to expect from a partner. Been married for 28 years with a man who doesn't expect our relationship to revolve around money or gifts he does insist in telling me "I love you" evey day. Why i always enjoy your reactions may i suggest you listen to Bobby Bass Headless Horseman.
'House on Pooh Corner' is a great ballad by Loggins and Messina! You'd love it! Those of us who grew up in the 70's and 80's and had Pooh Bears it really hits a special way. Also, for a more upbeat song by them, check out 'Your Mama Don't Dance'.
I feel better having listened once again to this song's loving message. What a nice way to start the day. That, and the sun's shining, chickens clucking outside my window and I can hear the laughter of my grandchildren.
Bless you for this Britt. I was in my teens during the 70's and I loved Loggins and Messina and this song. I loved your emotion and hope that you'll listen again to the song so that you can absorb the whole of it more. I will tell you one little thing, back in the day a pregnancy test was done by the woman peeing in a paper cup. Hence the lyrics" Love the girl who holds the world in a paper cup". Such a sweet, touching song.
When I think of Danny's Song, I think of Candian Country singer Anne Murray's Cover of Danny's song from 1973 album of the same name, this song had been written by Kenny Loggins as a gift to his brother Danny on the occasion of the birth of his first child. Anne Murray sings the song from the woman's perspective.
I saw this band a few times back in the 70's. 1973 the first time. Listen to their song "Trilogy" you will be amazed. Jim Messina was a member of a few super groups of the time, Buffalo Springfield and Poco, and also was a very respected producer. He "discovered" Kenny Loggins, put together a band and produced the first album that this song is from. Jimmy decided to play on the album himself, hence the name Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina "sitting in".
Yeah the song is about Kenny's brother...Danny. Kenny has a lovely, lively voice--famous for movie songs like FOOTLOOSE, I"M ALRIGHT(from Caddyshack), DANGER ZONE(from original TOP GUN)...I think you might like them!
What a great reaction to a mellow, beautiful old love song. I was 18 when I first heard it. Really enjoyed hearing it again with you. You're like a ray of sunshine to brighten my day Britt!
I think I remember an interview where Kenny Loggins said he wrote this song as a senior in high school. Amazing for a 17/18 year old to have that much maturity.
Post-pandemic, my kids were old enough that I finally felt they would enjoy their first concert. I bought tickets for "Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina Sitting in" at the Hollywood Bowl. Unfortunately someone in the band caught COVID and the concert was postponed. The kids saw Home Free as their first concert, but got to see these guys as their second when the rescheduled concert happened. Still a lot of fun even though they're grey on top. Kenny Loggins was one of the performers in "We Are the World" and had some major hits as a solo artist. You've probably heard them in movies like Top Gun and Caddyshack but just didn't know the artist.
A huge song back in the day. It was the first introduction of one of the best duo’s of pop/ folk rock music in history. Kenny Loggins went on to become a great solo artist with many hit songs some of which were soundtracks to some very popular Mr movies!
Loggins and Messina made great folk/country/pop music in the '70's. In the '80's Kenny Loggins went more in a rock/jazz/fusion direction and LOTS of movie soundtracks like Top Gun and Caddy Shack. He worked with other singers including Michael McDonald and Steve Perry of Journey. You liked "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" by Journey. You should try a really energetic Loggins/Perry song, "Don't Fight It".
LOVE THE GIRL WHO HOLDS THE WORLD IN A PAPER CUP.. = The girl who WHO doesn't need crystal glasses and pure silver utensils, A simple down to earth woman. 😉
I was pregnant with my first child when I first heard this song -- it seemed to fit my and my husband's life at the time, and even though we're divorced now (and the children are all grown), I still cry happy tears whenever I hear it. This is Kenny Loggins singing, by the way.
Kenny Loggins, the one without the hat, wrote this for his older brother, Danny. The song is Danny's perspective. To me, the most amazing thing about this song is that Kenny was 17 and a high school senior when he wrote it.
I was a young teen when this came out! So many great Childhood memories! Best years of my life! Thank you for this reaction! You are the BEST! Many Blessings on You and your Family!🙏❤
My decades long marriage came to painful end. Yet when I hear the chorus, “Even though we ain’t got money. I’m so in love with ya honey.” It makes smile and cry remembering when we were just starting out. So full of hopes and dreams.
Messina then musical partner was Kenny Loggins....whom you saw sing a line in the We Are the World video without knowing it. These guys were such a fun duo 1970's. Fast and Slow songs. Your Mama Don't Dance, Love My Music, House on Pooh Corner, Angry eyes....more, Loggins did the theme to the Footloose movie and lots of other things. You won't hear the Jason Aldean types do such a beauitul song....
When my son was born, and things were perfect. His mom and I had this on, he was asleep between us, and I realiezed how beautiful my life was. She left, had 2 more kids with a woman-beater, and married another guy. Now this song makes me empty-cry.. I need a drink.
FOR A LULLABY FROM Kenny Loggins "Return to Poo'h's Corner" FOR SOME "L&M" ROCK: You're Mama don't Dance". Kenny's most Iconic song from the 80's was "Highway to the Danger Zone". This Song MUST be heard while wearing Aviator Sunglasses!
Yes, it’s a beautiful love song and it’s hard to believe it’s over 50 years old !!! Anyway, for a couple of other similar love songs, please check out (if you haven’t already) Brad Paisley’s “Today” and Bryan Adams’ “Please Forgive Me”
Kenny Loggins was doing this first album when the record company suggested Messina (already famous in his own right) to play with him on some songs. It went so well that they played together on all the songs so they decided to add Messina in the title and called it "Sittin In" as...Messina was sitting in with Loggins. The album did so well that the record exces (Clive Davis) suggested they stay together as an official dou...so the next album was called just "Loggins and Messina". You must play " Pathway to Glory" I owned and managed a few record stores in the 70s/80s and that song is in my all time top 10. Listen to the album version. Turn It UP!!!
Kenny Loggins had the contract with the record company. Jim Messina was told to help Kenny do his first album. They end up being a duo, hence Loggins and Messina. In 1986, Loggins wrote and performed "Highway to the Danger Zone" used in Top Gun.
@brittreacts This song takes me back to 2003 driving down the highway with my first wife before we had our son that year..we were broke and in love and nothing else mattered because we had each other. Sadly she passed in 06..thanks for reacting to this and taking me back to that special time.
My bother inlaw is a good friend of Kenny. I have met him and had dinner with him. He is the nicest down to earth guy you could ever meet! Beautiful human being !
I knew before clicking play that this would hit you in your feels, especially with you expecting. This entire album (especially this song) was a big part of the soundtrack of the 4 years my wife and I dated dating before marrying 40 years ago. ❤️
Kenny Loggins did "Danger Zone" for Top Gun, "I'm Alright" for Caddy Shack, and "Footloose" for Footloose. Also, has a string of other hits, big rabbit hole.
Speaking of wedding songs, you gotta react to Paul Stookey - "The Wedding Song (There Is Love)" A beautiful song that he wrote to play at Peter Yarrow's wedding (They were both part of the group Peter, Paul & Mary). It's a song that's been played at a hundred billion kazillion weddings.
As soon as I saw the title, I knew you were going to love this.. House at Pooh corner is just as sweet. Both are beautifully written songs. Annie's song from Denver is as ironically sweet. Most of L&M songs are faster pop songs.
These two were great together. I first heard this album when I borrowed it from the library - on a reel to reel tape. That's right; before 8-tracks were popular.
Welcome to the fantastic world of the iconic Kenny Loggins. He was the absolute KING of soundtracks in the 80's. Please react to Footloose (Footloose), I'm Alright and Nobody's Fool from Caddyshack, Danger Zone and Heaven Helps the Man (Top Gun). He is has AMAZING ballads - Heart to Heart, Forever, Meet Me Halfway, This is It.
Lol, many hippie children were conceived to this song. This was supposed to be Kenny Loggins first album (he was an unknown singer-songwriter) with Jim Messina (Buffalo Springfield along with Neil Young & Steven Stills, & Poco) as the producer. Turns out they clicked & it became the first Loggins & Messina album, they stayed together between 1971-76, with a couple of reunion gigs though the years.
They have so many great songs, you could spend a week on them. If you enjoyed this, try Watching The River Run. Nobody but You is also great. Love your reactions.
As a mother with a young child, You would love "House @ Pooh Corner" Kenny Loggins wrote the song as an ode to his childhood. I think he was 17 or 18 at the time. He was dating the CEO of Disney's daughter. They owned the rights to "Winnie the Pooh" They sent him a cease and desist letter. His GF talked her father into allowing him the record and sell the song. It became a major hit. It is also very sweet. There is a great live version Here is a link. ua-cam.com/video/_iV4mol-Otw/v-deo.htmlsi=ZNnDDUSHg1DAoD0r
This song takes me back to high school in guitar class learning and playing this song. We had a guitar instructor Mr. Miabara, looked just like Pat Morita (karate kid) those were the days. Loggins and Mesinna almost forgotten after Keeny went super star.
Some other great love songs of the era: Your Song - Elton John Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton Watching the River Run - Loggins and Messina Annie’s Song - John Denver
"Kenny Loggins penned the romantic ballad as a gift for his older brother Danny Loggins to mark the birth of Danny's first son Colin. Most of the lyrics came from a letter Kenny received from Danny, who was planning to marry Colin's mother and was in the middle of moving his new family to California." The Logins here is Kenny Loggins of Footloose and Danger Zone fame.
They had so much great music and albums like House on Pooh Corner, Full Sail and the list goes on. Have a Great evening Britt! God Bless y'all and bring many happy moments to your lives!
Kenny loggins is amazing he has written so many songs themes to movies like Top Gun, Caddyshack, Footloose but I really love his song Return to Pooh corner
I agree that this is a top shelf love song but ultimate love song? Everyone has an opinion but ultimate to me is John Denver's Annie Song. Great job once again Britt
This is the same Kenny Loggins that did the “Footloose” theme, “I’m Alright” from Caddyshack, and “Danger Zone” from Top Gun, plus the other big hit he had early in with Messina “You’re Mama Don’t Dance (and you’re daddy don’t Rock’N’Roll)”
This song was a hit when I was pregnant with my son. I wanted to name him "Danny" so badly - but there were so many Danny's already in both families.....You can bet his middle name is Daniel. (And he indeed had Pooh sleepers -popular at that time - and a Pooh Bear)
Britt, I know this is their song. But if you'd like to react to a version that, in my opinion, is ten times better, you should react to Anne Murray singing Danny's Song! Some lyrics are different since she's a female artist, but it's absolutely flawless! Anne Murray was one of the greatest female vocalists of the 70's and 80's. If you've ever heard "Snowbird," that is likely Anne Murray you heard.
Kenny's career is a rabbit hole, from movie sound tracks, ballads and rockers. I suggest his collaborations with Michael McDonald. That alone will keep you busy!
Angry Eyes is a favorite!!
Kenny Loggins is definitely worth a deep dive. Check out House At Pooh Corner from his live concert in the Redwoods. Incredible writer and performer.
Great songs one and all.
More Loggins & Messina!!!
@@nitab1971 Nice choice!!! "Vaheevla " and "Sailin' the wind"
And one of their bigger radio hits - “Your mama don’t dance and your daddy don’t rock-n-roll” is a must listen.

Kenny Loggins wrote this song and released it in 1970. Anne Murray covered the song and made it a big hit.
Especially if you lived near Canada! Loggins single made out pretty good itself. (I lived rock throwing distance)

A great song sung by performed by one of the best duos from the early seventies.
They have so many great songs, you could spend a week on them. If you enjoyed this, try Watching The River Run. Nobody but You is also great. Love your reactions.
I have loved this song forever.
"Angry Eyes" is the song you want to hear, it's their masterpiece!
That entire album is FANTASTIC!
Loved this reaction!
My favorite Loggins & Messina songs.
"House at Pooh Corner" is a sweet song L&M did for the kids.
Evergreen and Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain are are songs about love.
Kenny Loggins was part of We Are The World. He sings right after Bruce Springsteen and before Steve Perry of Journey.
Kate, this song reminds me of you after all these decades. I hope you are alive, well, and happy.
Some other great love songs of the era:
Your Song - Elton John
Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton
Watching the River Run - Loggins and Messina
Annie’s Song - John Denver
They have so many great songs! I really like “Angry Eyes”! You should listen to it with us!
Another ABSOLUTELY AMAZING one from them is Return to Pooh Corner! You will LOVE it
"Kenny Loggins penned the romantic ballad as a gift for his older brother Danny Loggins to mark the birth of Danny's first son Colin. Most of the lyrics came from a letter Kenny received from Danny, who was planning to marry Colin's mother and was in the middle of moving his new family to California."
The Logins here is Kenny Loggins of Footloose and Danger Zone fame.
They had so much great music and albums like House on Pooh Corner, Full Sail and the list goes on. Have a Great evening Britt! God Bless y'all and bring many happy moments to your lives!
Such a beautiful song. Loggins wrote this about his wife and son - yes
Bringing back my high school days! Thank you
Kenny Logins song Return to Pooh Corner, is so sweet too.
I did want this for my wedding song 40 years ago! Still a pretty song!
Winnie the Pooh doesn’t know what to do, got a honey jar stuck on his nose. 🙂
Kenny loggins is amazing he has written so many songs themes to movies like Top Gun, Caddyshack, Footloose but I really love his song Return to Pooh corner
You will love John Denver "Annie's Song" - a love song for all time
I still love this song, I’m only a year older than this song. Songwriter: Kenny Loggins Producer: Jim Messina
Loggins has a billion huge hits. But this one ... This one is special.
Angry Eyes will astound you musically..by these guys
As others have said "House On Pooh Corner" is another sweet Loggins & Messina song, and for a very upbeat classic, try "Your Mama Don't Dance"
Oh yeah, my favorite reaction personality listens to one of my favorite songs....A gift from Heaven. 😷
I agree that this is a top shelf love song but ultimate love song? Everyone has an opinion but ultimate to me is John Denver's Annie Song. Great job once again Britt
I love Annie’s Song soooo much!
A beautifully sung song.
Try their, "Your Mama Don't Dance and Your Daddy Don't Rock n Roll."
Just a great love song
After Britt brings the new little one into the world, she will really enjoy 'House on Pooh Corner'.
You need to react to John Denver "Annie's Song". Another love song that is so expressive. You will LOVE IT!
This brings me back to when I was a kid thanks
