She did him a favor by showing her bad traits, so he could get up and walk out of the relationship that was toxic thanks to Carrie.

I feel like this vid glossed over the importance of Natasha. In reality, Carrie knew nothing about Natasha, never really made the effort to. Just cause she's "boring" doesn't mean that she deserved to be cheated on. In fact, i loved how Natasha emphasized that Big fell in love with her during her confrontation with Carrie, in spite of the fact that she was supposedly "boring." She could've actually been many things (funny, smart, even career-driven) but with Carrie as the other woman, all of Natasha's traits are dismissed and the blame of the cheating is pushed onto Natasha for being "boring." This, I thought, was always Carrie's biggest flaw.
Yes! Jealousy is no reason to allow the shitty treatment of others. We can make our own excuses for our poor behaviour sometimes!
And yet in real life if we love someone and they're with someone else, we also might not be able to help but find the worst qualities in their significant other. Even if we don't want to. Even if we know it is wrong.

For me, her deeply flawed character wasn't the problem. The thing that always troubled me is that despite her countless mistakes, shortcomings and her inexplicable way of life, she always get things served on a silver platter. Her flaws may be realistic, but the consequences she faces for having them aren't.
Completely agree I’m a lot like Carrie but unlike her I acknowledge my mistakes and my issues and I wish Carrie did that in the It would have made her a little bit more likable

But that’s what it’s often like in society! If a person is considered attractive and have other components that attract people (like her living in a ”cool” city, having a voice in a paper regularly and being a published author. Don’t underestimate how forgiving people will be if they can have a friend in their life who is attractive sith a large social network.
@@shanfarco1574 the big picture here though is that he is a cheater too. And who says he sill not continue to do the exact same to Carrie when he finds someone? I mean, did anyone see him doing some big change at all after Natasha? He just moved in and paid zero attention even how the home was decorated, he left it up to his wives. That says plenty to not even invest enough interest to care what it looks like when you get home.

I love that Sarah jessica parker plays it since she is not considered by many “conventionally pretty” but she and carrie are very confident and just beutiful. It’s not often seen.
Is she not conventionally pretty? maybe not from the neck up, but so are other actresses who's acting is so good their face doesnt matter as much. Sarah is skinny, white and blond I think she has met all the prerequisites for western beauty standards.

elle ofhearts that is such a shallow analysis, possessing conventionally attractive qualities is not the same as being conventionally attractive. sarah jessica parker has been absolutely hounded by the media for her looks because while she may be skinny, blonde and white, her facial features are not conventionally attractive. she has a long face, a large nose and fairly small eyes. margot robbie is probably one of the closest examples of someone who is conventionally attractive, and her and sjp look nothing alike

Enjoyed the analysis overall but I think it dropped the ball on Natasha. The takeaway from Natasha isn't that she's "boring" but that she's vulnerable even though she doesn't look it. Also that serial cheaters love to pit women against each other by dating physical opposites. The message to Carrie is, "See how quickly I can replace you with a younger, hotter, richer upgrade?" The message to Natasha is, "You will never be enough for me not to cheat on you," or "I married you because you fulfilled a specific image and now I'm bored and its your fault."
Other than that, spot on analysis of Carrie as a likeable anti-hero, especially how she equates drama with love. Looking forwaed to takes on Charlotte and Samantha.
you are absolutely dead right! I think Big was doing that without being entirely conscious of the fact that he was doing it - not that that makes it okay. What I loved about the series is that they were all human. The episode where Carrie tries to get Natasha to forgive her is amazing! We finally get to see Natasha a s a real human being and we also see Carrie have to really accept the fact that she did a bad, bad, thing and really hurt someone and she doesn't get to feel better about that.

"Boring" isn't even a flaw in my opinion. It's just a lazy justification to make the cheating somehow seem "reasonable" and somehow makes it seem like it's Natasha's fault that Big cheated on her, when that just simply isn't true.

I literally have my own “Mr. Big.” 2 years of accepting whatever emotional crumbs I can get. My frustration with Carrie makes me reflect on my own ways

I think everybody at some point in their lives, male or female, had a "Mr. Big." Somebody who didn't love you nearly as much as you loved them. And you were always chasing them, but they could have cared less about you. And I've also been guilty of being the Mr. Big in a relationship before.

the now popular hate on Carrie reminds me of how Rachel from FRIENDS used to be the one everybody loves but now hates. like, come on, people want tv/film characters that are relatable and realistic but can't get the fact that *realistic* doesn't mean: "perfectly likable with no major mistakes because their morals should be considered out of the millions of viewers who share different morals as well. they can't make a big mistake and learn from it because apparently no one can learn and grow into a better person from their mistakes."
The problem with those audiences is that they observe from a distance, not from the perspective of the character. That kind of audience usually hard to empathize with others. Thus, they want to be entertained, not to think, especially understanding how Carrie's thought process.

I think it has more to do with the idea of “what people are supposed to want”. The social environment of the 90s made people want to be like Rachel and Rachel was designed with that time frame in mind. As the world changes and that world we wanted to be Rachel in goes away, that’s no longer something we can gravitate towards. Another example would be June Cleaver from Leave it to Beaver. In the 60s June was the ideal aspiration for women at the time but by now, most women look at June Cleaver’s life and become terrified by the prospect.

I just finished rewatching the show and my problem with Carrie is that, for me she is not relatable. Because I am a Miranda. So I was getting indignated with many of her choices, and so was Miranda. But I do understand that there are people out there that are like Carrie, and I believe that she is a very interesting character. The fact that she makes me shake my head and almost scream at the TV also shows that, while I don't like her, I'm not indiferent to her. They still made me care about her because I wasn't happy when she made mistakes, I wanted her to be better, like you would want a friend to be better but you still see them fail and are upset about it. Just to be clear, I didn't like Rachel in FRIENDS either, I was full on Chaendler though I wanted to be Phoebe.
I do not understand how Carrie can be so well liked in Sex and the City. She treated her friends terribly and she treated Aidan in such a degrading way. He was a good guy. It sends the disturbing message to treat people as badly as one likes and be rewarded. Carrie never suffered consequences for her actions.
Even as a man, I loved Sex and the City. The creativity of Carrie, the sexiness of Samantha, the charm of Charlotte, the career-mindfulness of Miranda and the manliness of Mr Big are some of the things I aspire to.

I like Carrie. She’s fascinatingly individualistic. I know it’s popular these days to insult her or drag her down and prop up Miranda and Samantha, but imo SATC would not be SATC without a gray character like Carrie. Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte were all very strictly defined one way or another, where as Carrie was the wild card. She’s farrrrrrrrrrrr from perfect, but who wants a perfect character? She had many flaws, but she was also not as bad as everyone exaggerates these days. Thanks for the video.

It was funny. And she did that because Charlotte is an optimist and yold her you always learn smth and it all happens for a reason. I would love to see a video about Charlotte! She has always been my favorite character and the one I am most like. I think it's important to talk about the fact that feminism is about doing what makes you happy not what society says you should. (Because women feel pressure to have children but especially now there is also judgement on the opposite side towards women who decide to stay home and raise children because that is what they want to do)

We're both enfps, have wild curly hair, and we relish in our messiness. I realized that Berger was to Carrie what Carrie was to Aiden. He was charming, honest, passionate, accomplished but insecure and flawed, and ultimately didn’t have it together enough to make a good thing work and fucked up but not out of maliciousness. That’s what Carrie was to Aiden...I wonder if that pattern means anything. Maybe through dating a version of herself is a catalyst for her final arc?

Berger was a straight up man child jerk! I would say Carrie treated Aiden the way Big treated her.
Even though I find Carrie to be almost intolerably annoying at times (maybe because she reminds us of the worst parts of ourselves), I love character analyses. There's one glaring statement I disagree with though: I don't believe Carrie was supposed to end up with Big. That story arc probably took a turn because people loved them together (the passion, chemistry, AND all the drama) and the writers knew that. It's the Hollywood ending everyone wanted, but it's not reflective of what happens in reality. Men like Big always end up with the safe, respectable woman, like Natasha, not Carrie.
I don't think the interesting, flawed, quirky girl being irresistible is ultimately the message. The writers simply placating their audience is actually the most positive interpretation. Carrie and Big ending up together has a much darker, heartbreaking message: 1) If you wait long enough for one "ideal" person, you might be sloppy seconds or thirds, which is better than nothing and 2) If your self-worth, self-respect, independence, and identity are sufficiently lacking, you might allow someone to string you along and waste ten years of your life. Carrie was ready to marry Big relatively early into their relationship, but he didn't want the same things. Instead of fixating on Big, she could have moved on and built the life she wanted with a man who truly loved, wanted, and appreciated her (like Aiden or someone else).
Honestly, the ending kind of ruins the show. If Carrie had rejected Big at the end for good, it would have redeemed her, showed her personal growth, and solidified her character as a woman who walks her own path.

What was the most realistic thing was that , people like Big would end up cheating on women like Natasha, no matter how good they are . The only thing I liked about the affair storyline was that Natasha finally left Big .
I loved your look at Miranda. I don't know if the popular hate on Carrie has to do with the impact of her choices over everyone else's. She is the lead of Sex and the City. The story is hers. The words are not, a man wrote these characters as explains the constant discussion around men in the show, but what I really like about this video is that it explains what I love about Carrie Bradshaw- her sense of self, her independence, and the fact that she does learn from her mistakes, hard as they come. She is always herself and it's more than just "her times." Yes, the show is 20 years old now, and yes, a lot of attitudes are dated (i.e. views on people on the orientation and identity spectrum), but I love that you frame her to be the female antihero- because that's who she is, and the message of following her story from 1998 to 2010 is, to me, revolutionary because women are human beings with flaws, and are measured by the sexist double standards men put on them, and the show analyzes that, give or take the flaws that people have pointed out over the years that have validity. Thank you for this video.

To be honest, Mr. Big's actions never came across as manipulative to me, at least not intentionally. He seemed honest about who he was up front, in that he wasn't available, and Carrie always seemed to put the relationship further along the line in her head than it was, which drove me crazy. But in the end, they grew together as they matured throughout the series (which wasn't by a lot, as I feel like Carrie's growth over SATC was the least over all 4 girls).
But I find the relationship between Carrie and Big definitely more interesting and compatible than her and Aidan, which I know isn't a popular opinion. Aidan is a fantastic guy without a doubt, but that doesn't automatically mean the relationship is meant to be. Carrie wasn't into the country life, settling down and having kids, while he was. They were two very different people.
Mr. Big was all about the high life in the city and somewhat immature, just like her. Their scenes in the latter seasons are especially endearing, as well as amusing (he offers her money for her down payment, shows up on her bday, reads her book and reflects on himself as being an ass back then).
Carrie's complexity makes this show such a classic. I love SATC so much that I can watch it over and over without getting tired of it.

Yes, that is how I see Big´s and Carries relationship. Aidan wanted different things from life. Someone who was more similar to him. Big and Carrie had more things in common in their values and what they wanted from a partner and it took some time for them to find that out. To me, Aidan was as boring as Natasha was. Nothing wrong with either one of them. It just doesn´t fit.
I totally agree. Big had his issues but he was the better match. Aiden and Carrie really had different goals in life. Aiden would have wanted children. That would have been a point of contention if they ever had made it down the aisle. While not romanticizing the dysfunction of Carrie and Big...they were the better match.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I can identify the episode after 5 seconds of any clip and can recite MOST of the lines by heart. 😳
I've always LOVED the relationship between Carrie and Mr. Big because, dare I say it, I think it's an incredibly realistic representation of a type of toxic love overall. Think about the real world for a sec - not every women has a healthy and wholesome relationship with a guy. What's more, not every women *chooses* a healthy relationship, and some women will never *ever* learn to choose a healthy relationship. Whether intentional by the show or not, Carrie is an organic portrayal of that demographic of women (or man). I applaud that. Not every women is a Miranda.
For me, Carrie's behaviour always made 100% sence in that context. Carrie ending up with Big was REALISTIC that's just what some women would have done.
Some people may believe that the show glamorises toxic love because it never outright criticises Big and Carrie. I would argue that people don't like being force fed
romantic ideals and morals down their throats. Instead, this show smartly gave us four very diffrent characters and their approach in love and relationships. Judging by the amount of people who have come to dislike Carrie's choices on the show, this just shows that the audience are intelligent enough to decide for themselves which of the characters' lifepath, or none at all, best suits them.

Great analysis, I loved how you explained how Carrie's likeability was still retained through flaws. I must say that although I never really wanted to be like her and detested many of her decisions, she still had something about her that made me intested in her story as it unfolded. You hit the nail on the head, girls! :) With that in mind, I still think she is being objectified and the opening credits show that. However, I think she is the one who is objectifying herself, marketing herself as this sexual goddess (yes, the column), while at the same time she is struggling to be perceived as a deeper person. It is an ongoing conflict, which she loses many times.

I think the modern viewers hating on Carrie just don't get that characters like her paved the way for young women like us. Shows like SATC pioneered women getting to be materialistic, selfish, chase silly relationships, and make all kinds of dumb mistakes and live the life we want to just because we can. The only reason we can afford to analyze the morality of Carrie's actions today is because she enabled us to take that kind of freedom for granted now.

Maybe a video about Charlotte and Harry. He’s not the Prince Charming we were expecting, but he’s the one we deserve and the one we should strive for.
I wanted to be like Miranda or Samantha a lot more than Carrie. I loved all four women but always found Carrie the most self absorbed so she was the one I gravitated towards the least (and despite that I still really love Carrie). I think people hate on the show and especially Carrie too much. The point is exactly that despite Carrie having a "fabulous" wardrobe and life in NYC she was often her own worst enemy when it came to her personal life. She was always underplaying her debt (something a lot of people do) and she often ran into a lot of romantic woes. I don't think young women should see everything Carrie did as an aspiration to be exactly like her, but more as a "Women, it's ok if you fuck up. Carrie made a mess or got caught up in one but she was able to keep going."
There's this image that women are supposed to be perfect and have their shit together all the time, and Sex and the City shows that that's simply not true.
So much Carrie-haters here. Well, no one dare to admit that at some part of their lives, they were Carrie : single, sometimes lonely, free spirited, has their own thought/opinion/world, not caring much about the surrounding, still searching for something. They only proud as accomplished characters of liberated Samantha, career Miranda or conservative Charlotte.
So, if there's Carrie-haters, I guess they are/were Carrie, a mirror they don't like to see.

I personally think that more people are like Carrie and that's the reason she gets so much hate. She could not be put into a box and most people are like that. It's hard to see your own reflection in the mirror because then you have to admit your own flaws. She was the most varied character in the series and she never conformed to what society expected from her as a woman, she lived her own truth and own her being a mess. In reality most people are a mess in one regard or another. She was not perfect, no one is and that's what made you want to watch the show. I know she was my favorite character. I see my self as a Carrie in an emotional sense and in relationships.
Oh I'm so sorry for hating on a selfish, slut shammer, homophobic punchbag, I should have loved her more than anything in the world.
And the details goes here:
1. Carrie didn't believe in the concept of bisexuality (remember that one guy who told her he dated a guy once and several other girls of course and she was paranoid about that one guy, and couldn't let go of the thought that he might be gay)
2. She slut shammed Samantha after running into her while she was giving someone a blowjob and tried to make her feel ashamed about it, Samantha has high self-esteem so she was unmoved.
3. Carrie ditched her friends for guys
4. Carrie tried to change Mr. Big (remember how she used to leave her belongings in his apartment)

I have met tons of women like Miranda. A few like Charlotte. But Samantha was the one that - while a very entertaining character - was not a realistic woman/archetype

Just because you don't know anyone like Samantha doesn't mean that people like her don't exist! I haven't met many women like Charlotte, at least not *young* women, but they are probably out there anyway!
I watched the first episode of satc when I was 13 in 2007. And I never got the appeal of Carrie. I found her euqally as awful at communication as Mr.Big and generally an egotistical person who is often not a great friend or partner. I still appreciate a flawed female protagonist, I just never got why fans wanted to be her so badly.

This happened to me, when I was younger. She was never my favorite, but everybody wanted to be like her. My favorites always were been Samantha, because she is so extreme that you want to see how far she goes, and Miranda. I've never knew that everybody disliked her.
I think that something that irritates me about Carrie is how superflous is she (who the hell values shoes so much?) and made so many poor choices. I don't like when people call "mistake" to things like affairs or not having enough money to pay the rent, because you decided to spend everything on shoes. Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte, really did mistakes and pay for them. But they keep going, actually learn something and try again.

Let's be real; Carrie was WAY more manipulative than Mr. Big throughout the series. He was shitty to her, but in a closed off, "take it or leave it" sort of way. He presented her with ultimatums, where as Carrie CONSTANTLY tried to get him to do things and then when he didn't, would try to railroad the relationship in that direction anyway.
She asked to meet his mother. He said no, so she stalked him. She wanted him to be monogamous, he said no, so she went to a party, flirted with another guy, and then called him up to tell him so. She wanted him to say I love you, he didn't, so she took another guy home from a party they went to and NEVER TOLD HIM THAT HE SPENT THE NIGHT IN HER BED.
They were both shitty people, but in terms of manipulation, Carrie has got Big beat.

I love her, but she makes you crazy! She’s sympathetic and likable but often makes such bad decisions. She’s an incredible character and this is one of my favorite shows ever
When you watch a show for the first time, you root for who the show tells you to root for. It’s when you rewatch a show, you begin to question things. This happened with me when I watched Friends, and also when I watched the Office. When you first watch a show, you’re so busy just seeing things pan out for the first time, that you don’t really notice the things that make you question rooting for a certain character.

I don’t think Carrie disliked undramatic or smooth relationships. No doubt she loved Aidan but just not enough to marry him. She was madly in love with Big from the very start. And her love for Big was not just because he was somehow unattainable. She loved him because she had never felt such intense chemistry with someone else before. I’m pretty sure she would have jumped to the idea of marriage in the first season itself, if it was Big kneeling down and proposing to her. People are never truly that dramatic or commitment phobic. If it’s the person you truly love, there’s no phobia of commitment.
I think everybody at some point in their lives, male or female, had a "Mr. Big." Somebody who didn't love you nearly as much as you loved them. And you were always chasing them, but they could have cared less about you. And I think many of us have also been guilty of being the Mr. Big in a relationship before as well.

This was a great analysis, and good point on how she was the first female antihero but was, contrary to today's majority of female antiheroes, still likeable and not in a position of power, professionally. I think the writing on this show is somewhat underrated and, along with or because of the themes, easily brushed off as "farcical" by some.
I think what people don't like about Carrie is the fact that she doesn't grow enough as a character. Things happen as consequence of her mistakes, but she remains basically the same afterwards. It is rinse and repeat in a long running show. It gets really annoying. In real life, people do make the same mistakes over and over and over (...) again, but in a tv show, you can't do real life's pacing. Her ending was horrible. She went rock bottom with the russian guy, but she didn't get to pull herself back. She was rescued. By Big, of all people. The other reason is that she is a person who lives outside of her means, and doesn't really deals with the consequences of that. This fantasy hurts more in times of economic distress.

I really appreciate how this channel is always positive and never goes for the cheap mass appeal likes. ( Ehem ms.mojo ehem) There is clearly good in everyone and even if these are fictional characters, it's enlightening to see the brighter side where so many are so quick to hate and be nasty online.

I must be one of the few women who could never stand Carrie. What bothered me the most was how often she would complain to her friends but whenever they complained to her she would treat their problems like they were a joke and just disregarded them. Miranda was my favorite even though she was pretty judgmental at least she had a little more respect for herself and wasnt so selfish
Carrie rented her apartment and back then they were affordable in New York. There was an episode where she found that the other three had bought their apartments and Samantha not only owned her apartment but the building as well. Carrie wasn't earning as much as the others, even though she was the most famous, so had to find work other than her weekly column so she tried to find extra work.
Ah, nice memories . . . this used to come on (LIVE!) TV on Fridays at 9PM -- baby in bed, pushed husband out the door to go play hockey, and I got to drink wine and watch Sex & the City. Cathartic.

There is such a huge irony that Carrie hated Natasha for no actual good reason--- she admits herself at one point that she doesn't actually know Natasha--- and just constantly tried to find ways to be better and appear better than her, and yet when Carrie had the affair with Big--- in which one of the horrible outcomes was Natasha smashing her face off of a concrete step--- and Natasha then hated Carrie FOR A COMPLETELY LEGIT REASON, Carrie once again played the victim and spent a whole episode obsessing over getting Natasha's respect and forgiveness.
That is not a flawed person.... that is a psychopathic narcissist.
Flawed can be cute, sure, everyone has flaws.. But Carrie is straight up abusive, emotionally unstable, controlling, narcissistic and selfish.

It's one of life's great mysteries that Sex and the City was so incredible, yet the Sex and the City movies were such complete and utter garbage.
I love Carrie! Yes, I am proud Miranda’s character holds the societal values women have fought so hard for; more financial autonomy, assertiveness and just overall control in our lives; with or without a partner. However, I am lucky this show portrays the other parts of being a woman that might not be so accepted in our society today, but still resonate with some women. I’m not proud of it, but I love shoes, or the way a beautiful outfit makes me feel, and I love the feeling of being in love, at times to my detriment. I have been in love with the “bad boy”, and have pushed away the “good guy”. I have made bad financial decisions. Yes, I have grown and learned from those mistakes, but those aspects have been, and still are, crucial parts of my experience as a woman. Two of my favorite parts in the series portray what I loved most about her character. The first, when she returns from LA and points out her apartment is like her; not perfect, but real. My other favorite: when she is at risk of losing her apartment because of the aforementioned poor financial habits, and Big writes her a check, which she rips to pieces. Yes she chases Big, but she has enough pride not to accept his offering, which was a very feminist action indeed.
I think each character represents the various parts of being a woman. I like to associate myself more with Miranda’s and Samantha’s flaws which seem to stem from their unyielding independence, and healthy doses of cynicism. Regardless, I am happy for Carrie’s and Charolette’s character’s existence on tv, despite their flaws feeling a bit outdated. They remind us that yes, sometimes women STILL yearn to encompass domestic perfection, or get caught up (to our own demise) in the exciting and flashy parts of dating or fashion, to the point of being selfish at times. Though we as a society of feminist women look to other ideals, at times these feelings/actions DO exist. And there are parts of these two characters that are simply wonderful... like Carrie’s apartment, flaws and all.

I remember having S&S parties to watch the show. For me it all comes down to her dad taking off when she was young, that had to be so hard.
To me, she was never a depiction of someone who's flawed but embraces it gracefully/makes a conscious effort to make up for it, but rather the poster girl for a type of woman who is painfully selfish, constantly looking for people and ways to justify it, and generally refusing to grow up because it's not fun, spontaneous or good for her current needs. Basically, a 'princess' who stopped developing psychologically when she developed enough physically to become what's societally considered sexually attractive and feminine, down to the very last cliche.
I used to like her but I didn't understand the series properly. Now I understand why ppl dislike Carrie. She cheats over and over, she smokes and ignores the fact if it might bother ppl around her, she's super self centered, she is financially messy!! The audacity she had to confront Charlotte about not offering her money. When she got the kashmere Schal to her birthday, after finding out its value she asked if she could return it to get the money, how pathetic can you be? Also she hit big in the face and left him with a black eye.
She butchers herself for big wth their on and offs when he made it clear he wants things to be slow and he's not ready for a relationship. She has no self-esteem. The funny thing is, while this character is all about independence and all that, Candace Bushnell stated she made a mistike not to have kids. We all know Carrie is actually Candace so yeah. I adore Sam, Charlotte and Miranda so much more than Carrie. They all have their flaws but they have their lfes in control.
Actually I never hate Carrie , i always recognised a part of her in me during my single days...All that drama , love , pain , lost, gain...were the part of growing up as a woman...Would never change a sigle thing ....all of those experiences had been necessary from growing as a independent woman, wife, mother as I am today...In 1998 i was 21, a little bit younger than Carrie at the beginning of Sex and the city streaming...grown-up together....💋
I was very young when the series started airing (11) but around 13 or so I started watching it. I rewatched again when I was a bit older, before the first movie. And now I'm finishing season 6 again. You can tell a show is good when you not only still like it a lot at different ages, but you also discover new things in it and react to it differently as you get older.
As for Carrie, I agree with the analysis in pretty much all points. There's one thing I even wrote an essay about long ago: I always found one of the biggest and most interesting contradictions was in the fact that her whole career is focused in relationship and men. It's a catch22 in the sense that, for her, being career-focused and thriving professionally necessarily involved obsessing with her relationships, and with all the details and experiences of dating and having sex. Be it her own life or her friends', she was the one who's whole life revolved around that topic. Not even fashion was more important than that.

Charlotte is another case, she was the most old fashioned and judging one... I think Samantha was bisexual and Miranda wasn't but she was friendly curious: she tried to talk about "strapon sex" with Samantha but Carrie interrupted them and said it's discusting (or something like that).
I am bisexual and I "messed around" with other women, so, I can't never date with men? Of course, you can make that decision: not date with bisexual men. But bisexual people cant change their orientation, just like heterosexuals or homosexuals. It's not our fault we are bisexual. Carrie from this show expected bisexual person to choose men or women, and it is biphobic and selfish. (sorry for my english)

It always puzzled me since Carrie has gay friends and she writes a sex column and she wasn´t too surprised when Samantha got together with that female painter. I don´t know. Maybe it was just inconsistent writing, who knows.

I agree that Carrie is a mess on a human, frustrating level. It's unusual to get a female protagonist who can honestly be a real brat without something "you-go-girl" to balance it out. But MY problem with Carrie is that she has no growth near the end and she is rewarded for her mistakes. She has also taken advantage of her friends way too many times to be acceptable (for me.)
I agree with a lot about what you said about Carrie. But," Sex and the City" was a cable show. Which means we could watch each episode repeatedly the same week if not the same day to pick up on the nuances ,sublties, boo-boos,etc... that made a game changer show that ran 6 years and spun-off two hit movies instead of a 13 week miniseries about 4 30-something women who "cheapened-themselves-out-of-the-marriage-market", on the then network TV programming. (Which still woyln't explain how 50% of all American marriages end in divorce.>:I
