to me, there's a major class element to it as well. Carrie didn't come from money, she grew up in a suburban area and this reflects in her personality. Natasha was portrayed as an old-money Park Avenue princess, and I think Carrie was envious of that. For me, all of her fixation on Mr Big is related to the fact that he represents the keys to the NY elite that Carrie always aspired to belong but have only admired from the outside.
@@ESTMYNDA not exactly. It's not really black and white, it's more a grey area with Carrie. Carrie may not even realize that she shooting above her station. I don't mean Mr Big was a good guy but he did have his business shit together and made a lot of money. Like she says Natasha is Vera while she's s sex columnist..she knows that Natasha and Big make sense together looking in from the outside. Natasha is the type of woman you would expect Big to be with and ultimately marry. Carrie would like to be more like natasha just in the sense that Natasha makes more sense for Big..it's not that she wishes she was NATASHA, it's more like she wishes she was more of what Natasha represents..the old money.. What's interesting is that Charlotte and Natasha both seem to be from the same fold and Carrie never wants to be more like Charlotte which tells me it's all about Big. So I think she only wants the old money debutante thing when it's associated with big and Natasha..otherwise she's fine to be what she is.
I never saw her looks as boring; I think they are elegant and ageless. She could have worn them 20 years before the show, they hold up 20 years after. And they don’t compete with her own natural beauty. Charlotte said it best to Carrie: “You don’t know anything about her.” Even if Natasha was really that boring, she didn’t deserve to get cheated on. I feel no sympathy for Big or Carrie. Natasha and Aidan are the victims in this situation. I say this incredibly obvious statement because so many people use Natasha’s quote-unquote blandness as a reason to justify Carrie’s relentless bad treatment of a woman who did nothing to her but exist.
In my opinion even Big felt threatened by Natasha. That's why he went back to his chaotic ex girlfriend that in comparison, made him look like a grown up stablished man. Natasha didn't deserve being cheated on but neither a messy husband who cannot settle down in his 40s.
Natasha was nothing but gracious until carrie gave her a reason not to be. Natasha is literally faultless in this show and is somehow portrayed as the villain in this storyline.
Ikr I hate how Carrie plays the victim in this storyline. I love how Natasha gives her that dressing down after Carrie's terrible attempt at an apology.
It's because it's Carrie's story at the end of the day, but since Carrie's an antihero, we sympathize more with Natasha than a classic hero's foil-enemy
Also i'm suprised Natasha and Charlotte never became friends bc they seemed to come from the same circle, education, work in an artisits industry (Charlotte in Art and Natasha in Fashion).
I think it's because Natasha is very mature and has this quiet confident air in her, she would find Charlotte too childish, which Charlotte and her group of SATC friends are.
Agreed. Charlotte and Natasha were very similar, but Charlotte chose to stay loyal to Carrie, even though Carrie was immature and not such a great friend - growing up is realizing that Carrie had a lot of toxicity to her
@@coffeemug3009 i dont think so. charlotte had friends outside of the group in the earlier seasons. she would have prob gotten along with natasha had it not been for her loyalty to carrie
Natasha was also only 25-27 when she married Big, so Charlotte was at least…7-9 years older than her? So I would think that even if they ran in the same circles, they would have been in different *age brackets*…so despite Charlotte being immature for her age, she may have seen Natasha herself as immature just for being a ~20 something~ and not wanted to associate with anyone that much younger. Especially where charlottes mission in life was to get married
Amen! It’s a crazy switch. I’ve been watching sex and the city since I was 12 (no judgement pls 🤣), Ive always rooted for Carrie because I thought she was the coolest, now that I am in my 30s it’s Charlotte,Natasha , Samantha who I relate to the most now. When I rewatch this show at 30, I realized how childish and self destructive Carrie was and that’s not it at this big age for me! Lol
When I was younger I didn’t root for Carrie, I felt she was too whiny like my little siblings 😂. I rooted for Miranda instead 😂. But I understand where you’re coming from!
Exactly - anyone who would wear any of Carrie's outfits today would look so outdated and cheap, meanwhile Natasha (and Charlotte) looked classy then, and would still look classy now
Exactly! There's a difference between classy and boring. Classy is timeless and actually stylish and beautiful, like Natasha and Charlotte's clothing. There's awareness and intention behind it. Boring is nothing more than functional fabric so you don't leave the house naked 😂. I consider throwing on a pair of leggings and a sweatshirt with zero effort to be boring.
I'd say she is anything but boring. Her fashion is literally larger than life, that's why Carrie feels so threatened by it. Her simple class and elegance doesn't have to do anything, by its timeless nature it doesn't have to prove itself, because it is upholding a reputable legacy. Big, bold, fashion does try to prove itself. Natasha has that self-satisfaction and self-importance that Carrie wants. That's not boring.
I feel like they only used a word like "boring" to put her down. Natasha is a fashionista, even more than Carrie. She works for Ralph Lauren, has her life together and always looks polished. I think the only problem is that someone so put together made both Carrie and Big be more aware of how chaotic they actually were. I really like how they showed a woman in her mid- twenties showing more maturity than people in their 30s and 40s. Natasha's style show all of that with such an ease.
I think Natasha’s style is an Audrey Hepburn type. Soft, somewhat fragile, delicate, warm, graceful in a way that seems effortless. Clean/ chic. Carrie is a bit more rock n roll/ avant-garde. Which can sometimes skew a bit tacky and cheesy.
You really hit the nail on the head with Carrie’s projection of insecurities onto Natasha. Carrie was overcompensating because the person she loved went with the woman she always wanted to be. Her obsession wasn’t necessarily with Natasha, it was with Big and the question of “why didn’t he choose me?” Great video.
I always laugh very hard at the episode Carrie sees herself "untamed, free spirit" woman and Natasha as "simple girl" when in reality she was completely begging him to love her ://
@@julierowe1732 I think you might be projecting maybe you’re similar to her but that’s definitely what Carrie did she constantly made herself more and more pathetic for big and she never stopped even in his death
@@samf.s.7731 I thought so too. They just had different styles, but Carried got so "carried away" obsessing over Natasha, she was less true to herself, like going overboard on her outfit for that luncheon that Natasha didn't even attend.
Patricia Field did a brilliant job of styling these women. Carrie was edgy and, at times, bordered on tasteless. Charlotte had the timeless, preppy look inspired by Ralph Lauren with the minimalist lines of Calvin Klein. Samantha's business suits revealed form fitting sans any inkling of a blouse or tee under her blazers and Miranda had a hint of Katharine Hepburn tailoring in her corporate lawyer garb. Of course, these women would have to put down Natasha from her name to her hair to her age (twenty something). Charlotte remained quiet during the putdown rants because she saw the reality of the situation through a similar perspective as Natasha's. Keep it classy; get married, have a family and, most of all, remain faithful.
It's interesting that they styled Natasha's character after Carolyn Bessete-Kennedy because in real life Sarah Jessica Parker actually dated JFK Jr before he started dating Carolyn! It makes me wonder if SJP secretly felt the same way about Carolyn (when she was alive) as her Carrie character felt about Natasha 😉
It's crazy how when the show came out, we were all focused on Carrie and big and now as an adult, Natasha was so in the right and had such grace in this situation. Seeing Natasha now compared to Carrie, Carrie somehow manages to look cheap. Not to say that Carrie didn't dress expensively but or that a woman can't be "messy" or not "polished"...it went beyond the clothing and styling. The bitterness and ugliness that Carrie exuded when she was making fun of Natasha or complaining about her. Even when she was trying to out dress her; Carrie went to such lengths in her "pick me" era that it never came off as genuine or effortless. Natasha was very introverted and I would have loved to see sparks of color come out a bit more but she was never a push over; her line will always remain iconic television "not only have you ruined my marriage, you've ruined my lunch"! I will still die on the hill that the sequel series to sex and the city should have been about a new core group of friends. Hari Nef's amazing Rabbi character could have been one of the friends! Such a missed opportunity!!
I NEVER put Carrie over Natasha , I’ve always had the emotional intelligence to know that Carrie was no where near her caliber and was actually a piece of shit especially with her childish victim playing ways
Yes but that line of Natasha’s also reflects the still very present habit of women to blame ‘the other woman’ instead of the man. Not to forget that Big was the married one, he had responsabilities and duties towards his wife (loyalty being a major one), not Carrie. Big’s fault is way bigger, let’s be real. And honestly: a lot of times women like Natasha marry men like Big while they KNOW what type of man they are and then play out the suffering wife after discovering the cheating of their husbands. Natasha knew from the very beginning that Big had an affair/story with Cartie whatever, she sensed it all immediately. But she still CHOSE to marry Big. That says something about Natasha as well. Just like men like Big want trophy wives, women like Natasha want to portray to the outside world the perfect family image which they have been raised to portray no matter what is ACTUALLY happening in that marriage. In my opinion Natasha’s morals are not flawless at all neither.
Thank you, you hit the nail on the head, honestly I think Carrie was jealous of Natasha because she was confident and happy, not toxic no wonder her and that loser big are meant for each other.
At risk of using the current annoying cliche', I'd say Natasha authentically and beautifully embodied "quiet luxury" ....before it became an obnoxious trend! Excellent video, you have such a deep understanding of fashion, I really enjoyed this.
Natasha was so confident in herself without being bold. She was so calm when seeing Big with his ex, even in their engagement party. On the contrary, Carrie was so unstable. She didn’t feel safe in the relationship even when there was one else in their relationship. She always showed her characteristics and thought that made her stand out. But no, she was a slave of others’ feelings about her.
@@KierraLovesHipsters atleast by the second breakup she should have started listening to her friends and evaluated herself and her constant need to go after guys like him who r bad for her and why she pushes away guys like Aiden who was good for her. That one episode where she goes to therapy she realises this and instead of actually continuing the therapy and bettering herself, she runs away because she didn't want to meet the guy she slept with. But she could have easily changed the timing so she didn't need to meet that guy. Carrie really needed therapy. She has a lot of insecurities and destructive life choices. Her terrible relationship with finance is one of them. Her relationship with Big even emphasis the fact that throughout the relationship she was so insecure with herself that she never judged Big for the way he treated her. Her friends warned her so many times how terrible Big was and so when she restarted her relationship with Big a zillionth time she hid it from them at the beginning.
@@mishasaji2365 thank you for your reply. Do you think it was big being a terrible person or him just not being into her or both? If she was less insecure how do you think she wouldve judged big?
@@KierraLovesHipsters Big wasn't a terrible person but he was terrible for Carrie. Because Big symbolised the glamorous New York City being part of the upper NY elite society. And we all know how much Carrie loved New York have it being being the aforementioned "City" in SATC title. And since she looked upto Big so much she felt more inferior as an outsider to that part of NY and blind to the fact that Big was just an average personality guy from a rich background. He didn't nearly value the relationship he had with Carrie as much as Carrie did which was why he was able to move on and find Natasha while Carrie overly romanticised her relationship with Big and got hung up on it. I remember the particular episode 12 Season 2 where she describes their breakup as "Exquisite pain". She and the SATC Show portrayed that second breakup as a tragic love story which indicates to how delusional she was and how well the Show tricked us the audience into thinking as such with the music(Anna by Gunner Madson- loved this music). Doesn't mean Big never loved her, over time in their on and off relationship Big started seeing her more differently than he did in beginning. However he still felt unsure if Carrie as a wilder choice and pulled away from her each time they got too close until the very end of the Show when he comes to to Paris for her like a fairytale. But honestly that was a fairytale ending for their romance that happen only because Candace Bushnell (the author and creator of SATC) was asked to give a romantic ending. In real life Candace who Carrie is based on didn't end with Her "Mr. Big". So it was unrealistic. Basically what I am trying to say is Big + Carrie with all her inferiority complex was a bad combination.
Now this is interesting. I was always fascinated with how Natasha represents what Carrie always wanted to be, and how Big wanted to present himself to the world (because men like him usually have women around who reflect the image they want to project).
@@FabalociousDee I could see a Big type marrying a Natasha but cheating on her with Carrie (constantly) and stringing said Carrie along- which is exactly what happened.
I agree. Also if we look back at the series, all the women Big went for were more of the Natasha type (his first wife, that actress Willow, and even the models he was randomly with in between messing around with Carrie). And the way he carried on about Willow when he was in Aiden's cabin, I'm surprised Carrie ever went back with Big ... he just never seemed "ga-ga" over Carrie physically, but they had the fun, drama-filled and co-dependent relationship.
@@BeYounique...Maryanne I think Big was very attracted to Carrie and thought she was fun, but she wasn’t as educated/classy as Natasha or his first wife, or a status symbol like the actress was.
Great essay! I think it's also a class issue. Natasha and Big come from old money and Carrie is not even in the new money category. This refflects in both Natasha and Carrie's styles and conffidence. I think class it's the ultime reason why Big married Natasha and felt Carrie was "unfit" for him. Of course this doesn't change the fact that Big mistreated both of them all along, and that Carrie refused to accept this. But yeah, class plays a big role, specially in the concept of "ellegance" and "poise", since these come from very bourgois and high class values and standars.
I'm not really gonna give big that excuse, he's wealthy enough to choose whomever he wants as his wife. It's not like there was a gun to his head telling him to "pick a Natasha". If he knew he hated beige, he should have known that's not the color's fault if he chose to paint his walls with it 😒🙄 Now I'm not saying that Natasha should have forgiven Carrie, but we know better than to throw Carrie under the bus for Big's sake. She loved him, too much I would say (And definitely more than she loved herself, which ... Oof girl what were you thinking?) and he just wouldn't leave her alone.
Carrie has _some_ money because let's face it, most of her clothes are designer clothes. The show even mentions it many times. But she's not wise with her money, she spends it all on shoes and has no place to live 😂😂😂 I love both Carrie's style and Natasha's. I'd opt for Natasha's style because I like it a bit more but also because I'd never be brave enough to pull a Carrie.
that is why Carrie dresses up in labels and very obvious and showy designer clothing: she needs to wear her attempts at validation for the world to see
Grace, class, femininity, elegance, sophistication, and regal beauty all is subjective and anyone who is introverted or extroverted can emulate it and embrace it without any bias of the two. Take Audrey Hepburn for example vs Marilyn Monroe or Princess Diana vs Phoebe Dynever. My personality type would be considered either ESFP or ENTJ, but one thing I’m aware is that any woman who holds herself high with full courage, ambition, determination, integrity, self aspiration, respect, and patience for herself is capable of growing into her confidence and having the dual ability to possess self values and having a moral compass that shapes their overall relationship to gaining the expression they’d want to illustrate and achieve in their lives. Realistically, it’s possible, as that is exactly what Proverbs 31, 2 Timothy 1:7, and Joshua 1:9 shares, and actually is and Luke 1:45 coneys from a woman, too, as woman aren’t meant to be seen as one thing, and if a woman wants to be silent in her strength or both, she can, as 2 Corinthians 3:4-5 and James 1:19 shares, but it’s how you convey it, similarly as in Psalm 64:5 and 2 Corinthians 13:1-3, 2 Corinthians 6:14, Ephesians 5:6-9, and Romans 1:16. ☝🏻💗💗💗
Natasha was elegant and down-to-earth, and handled her life (and Carrie) with grace and class. And I LOVE Natasha’s classic, elegant style. It’s very close to my own style of dress. Carrie was a terrible, completely selfish person, viewing HERSELF as a victim while she intentionally destroyed lives (including Natasha’s - the true victim - and her own). In SATC, the viewer sees things from Carrie’s point of view and hears her narration, and Carrie works hard to portray Natasha as a boring, soulless stick figure. But the events playing out on screen portray a stark contrast to Carrie’s self-aggrandizing narrative. Reading through the comments on this video, it’s clear that most of us saw Carrie and Natasha for who they really were, and learned some important lessons about life, as well as how to dress so as to communicate our personalities, values, etc.
I get why Carrie felt like a victim though. Big left for Paris a single man, and returned engaged to Natasha, which felt like a slap in the face to Carrie that he hadn't ever wanted to marry her. Plus, Big didn't even bother to tell her he was engaged before she found out. She was human and was struggling to understand what Natasha had that she didn't. As far as destroying lives, Big is more guilty. He was the one who told Carrie he was unhappy with Natasha and that he wanted Carrie back.
You know when we meet Natasha in AJLT, she's doing really well. She got married apparently to someone who appreciates her (More than John Preston), and had two boys. She definitely was third wheel in the Carrie/John toxic dynamic, and it must have been hard that all that time she actually wasn't John's love interest. She was the other woman, the facade he liked showing off to the world but not the one he truly wanted to be with. It actually was devastating to both women who both probably felt like they weren't enough. At least Natasha left and was able to carry on with her life, she survived hurricane John Preston, albeit not without suffering losses from it. Carrie though, she never stood a chance 😔
@Lorri Lewis She was a victim, they were both victims. Big knew that Carrie loved him, and he used it against her. She did try to not cheat, but he just kept pushing till she caved...he would call her, stalk her in a hotel where she was working, practically forced himself on her in that elevator... I don't even know if she willingly gave in, or her survival instincts kicked in and so she chose not to resist. Natasha, is also a victim of this situation... Being the woman big would marry but not the one he truly wants to be with.. Why do we always blame Carrie? Carrie was practically assaulted in that elevator 🤔 The cheating ruined her relationship with Aidan too, you know... I think the fingers should be pointed at the man who wanted to have his cake, and eat it too. Because this entire ordeal was his doing. Sure she's an adult, but Carrie chose big, big chose Natasha, only to go back on it later on. What kind of an adult man would have such little insight into what he truly wants? I think he wanted both... Like, b!tch make up your mind! You can't have both. At least Natasha got to walk away, she shouldn't have been dragged into the Carrie/Big situation to begin with. A ring means nothing, it's symbolic of a promise, one that can be broken at any minute... Natasha Najinsky deserved better, and got better! Good for her. Big went back to Carrie, the only woman who can withstand these shenanigans and walk out on him. A battered wife in an abusive relationship, with sunk cost fallacy preventing her from ever truly walking away.
@@lorrilewis2178 Big IS the one to blame!!! Yet everyone point at Carrie, classic female hostility to each other 🤦🏻♀️ also Carrie is WRITER! Of course she’s a drama Queen 😂
Yes! From 0:45 to 0:48, that was awesome that Natasha’s friend rightfully gave Carrie a disgusted look. I bet the friend was thinking, “How dare that nasty, backstabbing heifer? Putting my friend through humiliation and heartbreak.”
I noticed only now that after Natasha found out about Big and Carrie, she started dressing more like Carrie with the lower cut and the pink dress. I think, in retrospect, that they were both felt envy toward each other, although Natasha married Big, she was probably very insecure about their relationship from the start(they were together for only few months before they decided to get married).
I thought that too, I also have this theory that the pink dress she wore to the lunch( when Carrie’s tracked her down ) was meant to reflect on Natasha’s inner thoughts regarding Carrie’s crazy apologizing for the affair.
As an adult, the dissection of the "Carrie" Archetype just exudes selfishness, lack of consideration, and going after things that are not hers.I can appreciate the Natasha Archetype more as an adult.
It's not this complicated. Carrie was simply taken by the fact the man she's obsessed with has chosen this woman. Natasha could've been ghetto af, & Carrie would be still be triggered. Ppl do this in these situations all the time, we creep on the competitions, men & women alike. That's all there is to it.
Great point and much more real than the person who said Big went for Natasha because she was prettier and younger. King Charles choose Camilla over Princess Diane. Camilla wasn't prettier or younger.
@@BeYounique...Maryanneevery situation is different. You have to contextually look at things. In this case Mr Big clearly chose a woman who was younger and prettier than Carrie, and more calm then her. He liked that, clearly. Carrie was a lot less refined, didn’t come from old money and not as acceptable to be his wife as Natasha was. I come from his sort of background in real life and I can tell you women like Carrie do not marry men like Big . For the reasons I stated above.
@@chanellover2143 I'm not arguing with you. I'm just saying in addition to looks, background, whatever, it's chemistry (Prince Charles and Camilla were of the same old money background, and she was older than Princess Di). All Big's exes and girlfriends were brunette and/or tall model types (one Black model, and the other model who did coke). If supermodel Iman was an option, he'd go for Iman, and she was older than Carrie. In the end, he loved Carrie but he wasn't IN LOVE with her. Carrie chased him until he stopped running. Even when they were married he was flirting with a woman played by Penelope Cruz (again beautiful model-like brunette. Big had a type that made his eyes light up. Carrie never fit that. He was intrigued by her, but not taken by her.
Youth and beauty? Without watching the video and going by the title. Carrie was a mess and Natasha was youthful, vibrant and had everything Carrie wanted in her youth.
That's the thing, Carrie is beautiful... Messy? Hells yeah! Insecure? Absolutely Not "classy"? I think she can be when she chooses to be... She mostly chooses playfulness instead. Is Natasha not all these things? We literally don't know, we only see Natasha from Carrie's PoV who labeled her like that and it's not necessarily true. Big wanted to have his cake, and eat it too ... Why doesn't anyone talk about how sh!tty he was to both women in this particular storyline? In another world, where big wasn't a douche, Natasha and Carrie wouldn't have been at odds with eachother. It's also funny that Carrie labeled Natasha as the enemy and kept comparing herself to Natasha... It's not about Natasha, it's big... Something is wrong with him. He's a man who can't reconcile his inner desires with the way he wants to be viewed. He wants Carrie to love, but Natasha to show to the world as some conquest. F word that.
I'm an ex Carrie fan, she was such an inspiration until maturity and knowledge showed me she was still in her trauma, she did not help women to be high value but she had a terrible self concept teaching sneaky attitude with both men and women. I wish I did not put her on a pedestal but I guess this is how we learn...
SAME. initially I thought SATC would age well because it offered a different perspective and path then what women were getting at the time. But Carrie's perspective was apt to the show title - Sex in the City. She was just sex, or along the same view, just fun, just flirty, just dating, not serious. I get her column was about sex, but she herself hardly changed unless confronted by a calamity ( which she caused by bad/not making a decision) and usually she is saved by someone else. The only change I saw over the seasons was Carrie's hairstyles.
As a teen I looooved Carrie. As an adult I saw her more for who she really was. It was actually a sad moment when I realized that the person I had seen as a muse was actually a toxic, narcissistic person. I had to rethink a lot of personality traits that I had taken on due to finding the show at such an influential period in my life. Anytime I rewatch the show or see videos such as this, it solidifies my feelings even more.
Natasha made BIG feel little. She was too good for him. He didn't want someone like Samantha or Natasha. He wanted someone that he felt better than, because it boosted his self esteem. He felt better than Carrie so he felt better about himself when with her.
@sparklyunicorn5431 No, he got to a point where he didn't care. He wanted to tell Natasha and even was about to call her, but Carrie begged him not to because of Aidan.
I was just thinking a few days ago about how people project a personality type onto you when you're a bit introverted. Instead of trying to get to know you, they assume they have you all figured out because of the perception they've made up about you in their heads. Cool video and would love to see more on this. Also: could you turn the music down a little? Sometimes, it's hard to hear you.
This!!!!! Ppl do this to me often too nd thts y I feel for Natasha so muchhhhh!!! She is simply a well put together woman who is reserved nd there’s nothing wrong w her reservedness that actually makes her v wise ! Nd wise w her choices
YES! I am introverted and when my friends would invite me to their parties, their other friend would get frustrated that they invited me. They just assumed because I was quiet, that I was wasn't funny or had any kind of personality, until they got to know me and we had a great time.
Thank you SO MUCH for this video - I feel like I've been waiting 20 years for this. I always hated the way Carrie villianized Natasha when all the latter literally did is marry Big. BIG was the problem. I also took it personally when Carrie compared herself to Katie from The Way We Were. Not even close, Bradshaw. ETA: and the fact that she only apologized to Natasha to make herself feel better...and after that, STILL felt threatened by Natasha.
This video has been eye-opening for me! The way you described how our clothes communicate our values and speak a language of their own really made something in my brain click. I was already aware of my color season and flattering fits but never truly considered what I want others to know about me when they're just looking at me... Thank you for the hard work that goes into your videos, it's really appreciated ❤
I never thought of Natasha as boring. Not that we had many opportunities to even get to know her in any way other than Rich, Young, model-like figure who carries ex moves on to after their break up. But if anything , Carrie could be described as juvenile, annoying and even Boring character since there is no growth what so ever to her character.
I like that Just Like That portrayed Natasha as this smart businesswoman who wears flats to work in very comfy clothes. A departure from the perfect and suspiciously dumb portrayal of Natasha in SATC. As Natasha was seen as, in the eyes of Carrie, a bland woman who might be an idiot. Because Carrie did call Miranda that Natasha was dumb. Just Like That gave Natasha’s character so much justice in a short period of time in the show. Even showed her as a loving mom and still compassionate and caring towards Carrie when she burned herself with her coffee with the bathroom scene.
I don’t believe Carrie was ever Big’s type and she knew that which is why she tried to force a relationship with him. If you look at Big’s first wife, she was more like Natasha. Actually Charlotte was probably more of Big’s type. Carrie was just something fun for Big to do and he clearly showed her that by never wanting to commit to her. It was very cliche that they ended up together but I think it was just because she would always run back to him and he knew that and he got older so who better to settle down with than the woman who has chased you all over America. Imo most of Carrie’s clothing choices were immature which makes sense because she was very immature financially, emotionally, and in personality.
If you read more into why Big had his first divorce, he broke it off because she was a strong independent woman his mother wanted from him. If you watch why Big abandoned Carrie on their first wedding, he wasn’t ready as he felt he would go through the same thing. They finally married, but if you looks into his antics with these three women, before Carrie, his first wife was everything Carrie wasn’t, and he wanted to not be married actually. He wanted to not settle down and just enjoy his time and his life without being tied to traditional roles; however, it equally seemed he was quite interested in just marrying someone originally for the sake of commitment and comfort before his passions fell through when his first wife hadn’t been caring in her marriage for him to decide to just enjoy the rest of his life just going about the transition smoothly, which was originally planned out when he tried fitting into what his mother wanted from him than what he wanted. This was even said in season one when he met Carrie and when they first started seeing each other, as Carrie kept seeing him and he didn’t mind. His second wife was an arranged marriage he wasn’t fond of, as he literally and I quote, says, “Oh no. I’m not falling for that one”, in one episode, as he literally shares how he struggles with commitments. Big actually likes Carrie in someways, because he feels he just needs someone who doesn’t constantly think about work a lot or their career like his. He’s a pushover, as he had let both women fight each other over their own insecurities. Natasha wasn’t really secure in her mind, as many think, because she actually felt belittled next to what she had, because she wasn’t a lively spirit and wasn’t able to express herself genuinely despite being the role she had and she wasn’t really too big into her career either, as she had a good balance that he felt he would accept. Carrie just had her journalism career she worked with trying to make it in New York. Trust me, he doesn’t like of these women, but especially his first two marriages, he didn’t respect those women and had a thing for Carrie, because she was more willing to accept his decisions he wanted out of, and Carrie was okay with it because she was jealous and she allowed her to homewreck a marriage she knew wasn’t going to work. She manipulated the situation in and why Big actually preferred her more because she had somewhat saved him from making much decisions, but he still doesn’t really respect Carrie, realistically, speaking. He decided at the end of the movie to make the choice to finally commit because it was what he wanted from knowing Carrie enough to make the decision right there after he had abandoned her.
Natasha is the kind of girl/woman I used to hate before I let go of my inner misogyny and became a girls' girl. 🤷♀️ and I still envy those who always look and act put-together and polished, but now I know that under the surface they're much more than that! in the real world *no woman is a boring mannequin with no personality* . we all have our inner worlds, dreams, aspirations, our tastes and preferences. and it's actually very fun and very healing to be friends with Natasha-like women, at least to me! also my best friend of 8 years is one of them, and I used to be scared and intimidated by her before we got close. I'm very much an ENFP, messy, bright and all over the place, while she's an elegant and thoughtful white swan, and our chemistry is just unmatched. we balance each other super well and help each other come out of our personal shells. personally I wouldn't be caught dead in the stuff she wears, but it looks very nice on her, and that's all that matters. 😅also it's very grounding to have someone chill and reserved near, and very rewarding to see her become more open and carefree around me. ✌️
Poor Natasha. After divorcing Big, she met, fell in love with John Wick, died of cancer and sent her grieving husband a puppy post mortem, whose murder caused the death of thousands of people
I started rewashing the show just for her .🥰🥰🥰🥰 I love her style and the way she carries herself. There not many reviews on her chararcter or style so i'm happy you dit it. Than you TCL 😘😘😘
Excellent video!! I'm a journalist (like the Carrie character) and it always bugged me that Carrie "grammar shamed" Natasha for the misuse of "their" when it should have been "there." Not everyone is a grammar expert, that's why we have editors. It was so catty of Carrie to suddenly feel that air of false superiority after seeing the invitation, which was actually sweet for Natasha to handwrite. Natasha gave Carrie every chance to be friends and Carrie shit all over it. (Yet Carrie insisted that Big and Aiden be friends).
@@hollyroxy25 Yes, and correcting her grammar was really pulling from the bottom of the barrel. Someone's not an "idiot" because they misuse grammar. No one is perfect and one thing Natasha knew that Carrie didn't was not to push Big; they fell in love organically.
I think it demonstrated how little effort and attention to detail Natasha gave the letter. She wasn’t obsessive with Carrie the way Carrie was with her.
Diana was FULL of Issues…Bulimia, Covert Narcissist, Manipulator, Gold Digger, User, Chasing out of Control Love-Sex Addict, Liar, Borderline, Etc. You Clearly Don’t Know what you are Talking about. Same w Camilla. Carrie had her Share of Problems, but its NOTHING like Diana’s.
I can't describe just how much I love this! Always love your videos and the sheer amount of effort you put in the videos. I just got my CBSE 12th grade result and this is still the highlight of my day!😅😂 You're amazing Michelle!
I think it was also so interesting to me that Natasha and Charlotte likely had a lot of parallels. But Carrie was so wrapped up Big to see Natasha clearly.
Natascha never did anything wrong. Big acts like he is trapped in the marriage when she had nothing to hold over him. And Carrie only apologized for the sake of her karma, I like how Natascha responded in the lunch scene.
And years later, Natasha is thriving, with a new and better career, and a stable, happy marriage and children. While Carrie is still obsessed and insecure. Let's face it: Natasha won.
@@capture_diaries Yup, you can't win if you cheated on the rules. I think the writers kept her character clean as she didn't want Big's money from the will.
If I had the money and figure I would dress like Natasha, not Carrie. I always thought that Carrie was the worst dressed person out of the four, except a few occasions. Natasha's style is classy and elegant. I agree that Carrie was inferior to her in every matter.
Whether the writers wanted it that way or not .. Natasha represents a person that you have a lot of empathy for . She is sandwiched in between to egomaniacal narcs , who didn't want to fully commit to one another but didn't want the other to be in another relationship either(mainly on bigs) . Big is the main problem as most triangulation loving men are but Miss Carrie was the "big-giest" pick me as well . Carrie irrational hatred for Natasha seems to be a projection on how she feels about herself .. despite her quirky facade .. she really has a vapid man obsessed personality and only feels alive when big runs back to her and she is sabotaging another relationship. Natasha was not the problem and deserved better !
My God i don't wear beige But i went through this I was Natasha very often.. I used to watch this show but never saw myself in it.. Im much older and after dating marriage n coworkers ex girlfriends new girlfriends.. Im finally seeing alot of women were carrie. Explains alot. Makes you feel bad however many women can become dangerous. I quit a job early this year. Because of these women. I got tired of their focus and bullying. Lets just say it got extremely bad. I Didnt know they obsess and wreck themselves so bad over a woman However alot of puzzles are making sense. Wooow😮 Natasha doesn't even know why shes a threat. Usually a honest big hearted person who silently loves women. Being the focus yet despised isnt a good feeling. You can sense it and you don't understand. Honestly i needed this video more than i care to admit. I had no idea.
I always hated that the “beautiful model” was always depicted as soulless, not funny or not having a genuine personality. Just because Natasha was beautiful doesn’t mean Carrie couldn’t empathize with her. I was glad when Natasha got Carrie back in the end
This essay is fantastic, thank you. It went over my head at the time how completely inappropriate Carrie's revealing dress is to wear to "apologise" to Natasha. If you've been having an affair with someone's husband and you feel bad about it, don't hijack the wife's lunchdate wearing a backless, strappy minidress that you obviously aren't wearing underwear with, what are you trying to prove? It says so much about Carrie's character that they selected this headline print, which reminds the viewer of scandalous front page news. The only reason Carrie turned up was not to appease her conscience, but to stir up more drama, and even ogle at Natasha's misfortune at being separated. Carrie is a true anti-hero.
ugh, thank you! I've seen Carrie's party outfit (cowboy hat and tube top) referenced multiple times in articles about tv fashion moments but the writers always seemed to miss the point. she was embarrassed in it once she saw Big with the beautiful preppie princess. it's not a bad outfit but what it represents is that she wasn't chosen by Big. also, I've heard it theorized that the show is an alegory and Big represents New York itself--makes sense that Big would choose younger old money preppie over a writer/artist.
Would you make a video about each MBTI style? Even if it is a more broad understanding of those types, cause you know, each person is gonna have their subtle differences and approach to life and style
This would be a blast! I am an INFJ, so I have a bit of both ladies in me- however, I live on the west coast- southern CA. These would not have the same essences & backgrounds growing up, the coasts, too, have their differences-
Yes, please! I am an INTP, and our style is almost always depicted as oversized hoodies. It is true we value comfort and function a lot but I think we can also look stylish.
When I first watched the series, I was Natasha's age. It made me feel bad because I thought older women hated younger ones already but the shows attitude proved it for me. Especially since Natasha was friendly & open towards Carrie initially
Oh, I just found your videos and commentary, and I'm so glad I did! I love your analysis about clothing, and I agree about Natasha in SATC. I always found her style very Grace Kelly. It's very classic, very timeless, and classy. It's a quiet confidence. Natasha is a testament to the adage, 'a person wears the dress, the dress does not wear her.' Thanks so much for sharing! I also love what you are wearing by the way!
I just wanna say - you are improving so much with each video you put out! Your speech is smoother and smoother, more and more natural (as in, you are getting used to talking on camera), you look in the camera more and more! I think your efforts are very visible and your hard work shines through every new video! Good job!
I disagree w Carrie not knowing who she is… she definitely knows who she is that’s WHY she dresses w pieces pulling from various sources. She is an artist (writer), and ultimately free spirited. Natasha is the antithesis of this. Arguably, Natasha was the one who didn’t know what she wanted. Hence, one of the reasons her relationship with Big failed. She led a life that looked better on paper, whereas Carrie’s life (though narrated on paper) lived the life SHE wanted.
This is beautifully put and such a great point! I always viewed her as having her life revolve a bit around Big which can be blinding and distancing. I feel at times she lost sight of herself, but her free spirit and creative endeavors are such a driving force. I thought Natasha likely felt the same, that Carrie was the exciting, vibrant, and unique one and could feel that same sense of inferiority Carrie struggled with at this point in time. I wish I could go back and shape up that section, thank you for the insight 🙏🏻
The thing that set my unfavorable opinion of Carrie in stone was when she showed up at church to force an introduction to Big's mother. That would have pissed me off FOREVER had I been Big. It showed how needy and self-absorbed Carrie was. She refused to respect someone else's wishes because everything was always about her. And that was the whole problem with her relationship with Big. He never lied to her but she was going to make him come around to her way of thinking. She was an idiot before and after they married.
I’ve never seen this show but I love your videos so much, I watched this one! I love how you explain fashion and psychology- it’s all so fascinating! Thank you for working so hard to make such great content!!
Around 2:50 where you introduce yourself and explain the purpose of the channel, I was so interested and proud -eventhough I do not do the same thing or know you at all, I would think that my higher self would like to. It’s a nice reflection of my future or just a preview of aspirations, but whatever just keep going for me. 💣💥
@@catcat2607 or it might not be !! Look at FRIENDS. Most people love the peaceful steady romance of Monica and Chandler more than the on and off perpetual drama of Ross and Rachel. It's all about writing. There can be drama inside a relationship or surrounding the relationship which can be just as interesting to watch than two dramatic people being in a relationship that's all about drama .
@@Some_guy_passing_by I haven’t seen the show, but I can tell you off the bat I didn’t know Monica and Chandler had a relationship. Actually I had thought I heard they were siblings. The Ross and Rachel stuff was talked about outside the show enough that I had at least heard of them. Which kind of proves my point.
This was really good! One of the best SATC analysis videos I've seen. I never thought about Natasha as simply an introvert. Really interesting, thanks for the vid.
I dont know why, but whenever i see natasha and carrie in SATC, Diana and Camila case is pop up in my head… Natasha is classy, stylish and well bred like Diana Carries is like Camila - well except the previous marriage and divorce Their contrast in anyway is somehow similar to Diana and Camilla Yes… Big ended with Carrie…
Natasha is old money- she has style but also class. I never considered Carrie to be classy and poised… doesn’t mean you can’t be classy on budget but Carrie was not. She was always loud and quite entitled.
After learning more about Caroline Bessette-Kennedy and given that she worked at Calvin Klein… Bridget had it down honey! Style-wise Caroline fits Natasha’s character to a T! The only thing is we did not get to see Natasha in a flattering light like we tend to look at John John’s late wife
Jealous people do that to control the narrative of their own insecurities, so they can shape their own behavior around how they feel around them, while pretending they don’t like them. Even narcissists to this sort of defense mechanism, too, in their own, especially covert narcissists. Carrie must’ve likely tried her hardest to not give her compliments or allow anyone, too, so she talked behind her back and kept her mouth open with all opinions she had of her, even digging into her personality, since she believes she was suppose to have what she had and felt that her grace and quite elegance was much to doubting to her own stature, since she had imagined classy, prep, and sophisticated people to be more communicative, fun, and smart with a intriguing sense of humor, like Big, but because she never known Natasha before, and while being introduced to her, she associated her reserved, quiet nature as stuck up, rude, and bashful, and even went out of her way to cheat, relating to how she lacks any emphasis of being what Big wants, as she was aware that she wasn’t Big’a type, but she wanted what she wanted. Natasha must’ve been too young and inexperienced and she was only in her mid 20s, while Carrie was in her late 30s to 40s, basically hoping to violate any sense of entitlement she had so she could feel better about herself, especially knowing she had the upper hand with the experience part, but she didn’t loved how far she was from the prize, and in her situation, being mean to Natasha in a passive aggressive sense was the only way how to make up for it in her knowledge.
Big and Carrie are a true match- both are self-absorbed obnoxious personalities. I actually think that Natasha and Aiden would have made a good couple, ironically, as they are both kind people.
I agree! I feel like everything Natasha went through had to happen for her self growth as well. In And Just Like That, Natasha seemed like she moved on.
It’s a TV show. The audience wanted Carrie & Big to be together so writer had to come up with the reason. In real life, someone like Big won’t choose Carrie ( took him to decide 19 years) over Natasha (5 months)
Love your deeper take on this relationship. Carrie totally has an anxious attachment style that gets in her own way so much (way too relatable). I think I disagree on Carrie being an ENFP, though. I think she’d be an ENFJ because she likes her categories (very J), and is a lot more social (Extroverted Feeling) and dependent on others’ opinions of her. ENFPs have Introverted Feeling, which makes them more original and odd with their feelings and judgments (I think Stanford, for example, is for sure an Introverted Feeler, an ISFP who cares more about how he perceives himself). Of course, she’s not a real person, so it’s more open to interpretation. Subscribing!
Carrie and her friends were terrible towards Natasha. It makes me happy we now live in a world where we understand the need to uplift each other as women not belittle and compete with each other. The whole narrative of Carrie's friends : "you're the best , Natasha's lame" makes me mad. Even though i have never watched this show. I would never say such things about another woman even if i was head over heels in love with her man ( thing that will never ever happen btw if i know someones taken i wont even breathe the same air as them) this show is terrible with portraying womens jealousy towards each other
I agree. I liked the show more for Samantha and Miranda's one-liners. Not all girls blindly support their girlfriends. I know I don't, If a friend is too critical or too needy with men, do her a favor and say so.
Men bring out the worst in some women. The same women who are all "girl-power" feminists vilify the "boring" "ugly stick figure with no soul" while THEY are the perpetrators. Women get ugly sometimes. Touch their self-interest and they turn into mean girls.
You forgot to mention the main thing, Natasha was a good layal wife. Carrie was the other woman. That is the main difference between them. #TeamNatasha
Mad Men was overly reductive when they did the “every woman is either a Jackie or a Marilyn” scene-however, in this instance I think that love triangle very much informs both the aesthetic and the writing of the Natasha/Big/Carrie triangle.
Carries true horrible personality really came out in the Natasha/Big/Carrie storyline….Big getting cold feet at the wedding to Carrie was karma for how she treated Natasha
I would love to see Carrie in therapy in Just Like That, coming to terms with her deep attachment wounds, profound insecurity, and toxic co-dependency. In the aughts when this show was the hottest thing, there was NO mass self-awareness like there is today. If you open this app or any other, you’re likely to learn more about mental health and psychology than you did back then unless you were actually in therapy. Even though Carrie did try therapy in that one episode (when she was torturing her friends with her obsession with Big) she started dating another patient and bailed! LOL. I think it would be nice if Just Like That had her reflect on her poor choices when she was young, because we all make mistakes until we grow up and learn from them.
I think that I’ve seen this video several times and it keeps getting better. I love the fashion breakdown of Natasha Naginsky’s wardrobe. I find her style to be classy, elegant, and beautiful. And she is as well. My personal favorite outfit is the pink jumpsuit she wore at the restaurant she saw Carrie and her friends at before leaving due to rightfully not wanting to be in the same room as Carrie. She looked chic and gorgeous. I even loved the way her hair and makeup looked. I think that this was showing Carrie that Natasha is more than meets the eye. She is not boring like Carrie thought. The scene where Carrie stalks Natasha to the restaurant where she (Natasha) was waiting for her lunch date and wearing the pink dress further shows that. Carrie realized how wrong she was about Natasha, and how she’ll never be like Natasha. Natasha deserved so much better. She was way too good for Big. She was way more mature, classy, and stable than Big and Carrie. She AND Aiden didn’t deserve the betrayal they inflicted upon them. Yes, this video reinforces why I ultimately never liked “Sex and the City”. Don’t get me wrong. I like the concept of the show. But, the problem is that the main character, Carrie Bradshaw, is extremely selfish, unlikable, uncouth, and toxic. I’m not saying that she has to be perfect or without any flaws. I’m saying that she is the kind of character that constantly makes irrational and horrible choices, and doesn’t truly care about other people’s feelings. No woman in her right mind and who has any decency should be like her.
Really interesting video, I never saw Natasha as an ISTJ, but I guess it makes sense. BTW, the J in MBTI stands for Judging, not judgemental - big difference !
Ah, it’s my English! Thank you for watching and clarifying for me, I didn’t realize the difference. Especially having ‘J’ in my own, it will beneficial for me and the videos moving forward 🙏🏻
to me, there's a major class element to it as well.
This is an excellent observation!
Agreed, this is such a good observation!
Great stuff!
So Carrie wanted big because it represents the validation she needed to know she made it into Big's world??
Well said!
In my opinion even Big felt threatened by Natasha. That's why he went back to his chaotic ex girlfriend that in comparison, made him look like a grown up stablished man. Natasha didn't deserve being cheated on but neither a messy husband who cannot settle down in his 40s.
@@melisacaceres8740 I think that Natasha was so stable that he couldn't thrive. Big enjoyed the chaos that he created, thus the pull back to Carrie.
Yes agree thank you
Natasha is a timeless beauty. I agree with the rest of it as well.
I think the show makes it clear enough that she's only the villain from Carrie's perspective.
Carrie is selfish & whiney
It's because Carrie is the one narrating the story, but we as viewers are free to empathize with whether Carrie or Natasha
It's because it's Carrie's story at the end of the day, but since Carrie's an antihero, we sympathize more with Natasha than a classic hero's foil-enemy
Natasha is my favourite character in SATC. She always had this quiet aura of grace - it's easy to see why she made Carrie feel inferior
Well thats really stupid
Love natasha ❤
Natasha and Charlotte for me I love their style
Carrie always feels inferior
She did well with the little bit of screen time she was given. But I don’t know how she could be a favorite if she’s barely there!
@@kaitlynhall2112 haaa good point. natasha looks/seems older but yea
When you're younger, you root for Carrie. When you're grown, you root for Natasha.
Lol
@@Righhhhhtttt yeah she’s a mess of a person

I never rooted for Carrie 🤣
NEVER rooted for Carrie, especially when she got into it wit Big after marriage. 🤮
Natasha's style keeps living today, many ladies wear clothes like hers. So, her chic is timeless, not "boring" as they tried to depict it.
@@bunnywavyxx9524 Remember she couldn’t even write well. That’s not classy at all.
I agree completely. And the scene where they Meet for the first time represents that perfectly.
I agree. I think the show emphasizes Carrie's inability of dealing with her emotions by showing her averse reaction to Natasha's style.
Actually it's inspired by carolyn bessette kennedy's style

@@KayTea4tea Yeah…how dare she not know everything about Big and how dare a young lady fall for an older men and then leave the marriage with grace.
You really hit the nail on the head with Carrie’s projection of insecurities onto Natasha. Carrie was overcompensating because the person she loved went with the woman she always wanted to be. Her obsession wasn’t necessarily with Natasha, it was with Big and the question of “why didn’t he choose me?”
Great video.
I always laugh very hard at the episode Carrie sees herself "untamed, free spirit" woman and Natasha as "simple girl" when in reality she was completely begging him to love her ://

Pretty sure she had went to a themed party in that episode tho
Woooow that's crazy!!! 😮 It falls all into place. NOW I get it
Omg!!! I didn't know SJP dated JFK JR!!
I'm sure SJP didn't care lol. She moves on quick.
It would seem so. Great take !
JFK was just a rebound after Robert Downey lol. Can’t deny the girl had great taste!
Great take on the characters
I agree! They should have just made new characters instead of trying to resuscitate the original ones
This was what I expected from the show too! A group of friends that occasionally come across the SATC characters
The main villain was Big. Carrie had no right to take it on Natasha but definitely leave that anger for Big...
She was too obsessed with big for her to actually be angry at him.
THANK YOU! I was literally thinking this. Big is the whole f-ing problem.
Question i haven’t seen satc since i was younger and don’t really remember. How should Carrier shouldve handled Big?
@@KierraLovesHipsters I don’t know. I think both of them were horrible and deseểved each other, but they should not hurt someone else.
I always thought that in real life Big would have actually ended up with Natasha rather than Carrie.
@@bronzeblues7795 Yeah, I could see him marrying a Natasha-type in real life, too. But even in the show, Big has always been a fool for brunettes.
I agree with that
I'm not really gonna give big that excuse, he's wealthy enough to choose whomever he wants as his wife. It's not like there was a gun to his head telling him to "pick a Natasha".
If he knew he hated beige, he should have known that's not the color's fault if he chose to paint his walls with it 😒🙄
Now I'm not saying that Natasha should have forgiven Carrie, but we know better than to throw Carrie under the bus for Big's sake.
Little bourgais
that is why Carrie dresses up in labels and very obvious and showy designer clothing: she needs to wear her attempts at validation for the world to see
I never viewed Natasha as "boring". I see her as graceful, elegant, feminine, classy, and beautiful
Same!!!!
Carrie was practically assaulted in that elevator 🤔
The cheating ruined her relationship with Aidan too, you know...
@@samf.s.7731 Big was toxic and emotionally immature. In real life, we would tell a friend who was dating Big to leave him ASAP.
@@lorrilewis2178 Big IS the one to blame!!! Yet everyone point at Carrie, classic female hostility to each other 🤦🏻♀️ also Carrie is WRITER! Of course she’s a drama Queen 😂
I loved it, that Natascha when meeting Carrie and her friends at lunchtime had a friend at her side, that gave Carrie 'that' look.
Yeah I can see that. Big put them in competition without realizing.
Good observation
As an adult, the dissection of the "Carrie" Archetype just exudes selfishness, lack of consideration, and going after things that are not hers.I can appreciate the Natasha Archetype more as an adult.
It's not this complicated. Carrie was simply taken by the fact the man she's obsessed with has chosen this woman. Natasha could've been ghetto af, & Carrie would be still be triggered. Ppl do this in these situations all the time, we creep on the competitions, men & women alike. That's all there is to it.
ghetto?
Carrie was definitely intimidated by Natasha.
Messy? Hells yeah!
Insecure? Absolutely
Not "classy"?
Natasha is 50 shades of beige not exactly vibrant
@@samf.s.7731 I literally live this reality. Not the cheating part, but the dynamic you explain precisely. I am Carrie.
I never thought Natasha was boring. I always thought she was beautiful and classy. Carrie is cheap and self absorbed. Big was crazy to choose Carrie.
He only chose her because he had to. He got caught cheating and didnt plan on that.
Exactly!!!
I’ve experienced this as well!
Exactly! I've experienced this in my younger years before I became more vocal as I got older.
Big and Carrie deserve each other, Natasha was always way above them both.

Natasha was a minimalist. What she had was simple yet elegantly fashionable.
Please do a breakdown of the men of SATC and their fashion choices. Aidan and Jack Burger's clothes are complex and simple at the same time. ❤

She was searching desperately for a reason to feel superior to Natasha because she made her feel so insecure.
@@hollyroxy25 Yes, and correcting her grammar was really pulling from the bottom of the barrel. Someone's not an "idiot" because they misuse grammar. No one is perfect and one thing Natasha knew that Carrie didn't was not to push Big; they fell in love organically.

Not an anti-hero. A villain.
Carrie looked her best this season. The hair and the styling… beautiful.
ugh, thank you!

I agree. She always had a dull plain look in her eyes. Unclear of what she actually wanted and followed class expectations
Big is a red flag. Carrie is a mess. Natasha is the real deal. Acting like a the classy woman that she is.

Carrie brings chaos to any relationship. Natasha brings peace.
Our culture doesn't appreciate peace, it's too boring and healthy.
If the show had led Natasha it would have been pretty peaceful/boring tbh.
@@catcat2607 so true, but the comments are addressing real life
@@catcat2607 or it might not be !!
Natasha could be rich or poor and still be marriage material. Carrie isn’t.
I have watched countless SATC commentary videos, and I still have yet to watch the show
This was really good! One of the best SATC analysis videos I've seen. I never thought about Natasha as simply an introvert. Really interesting, thanks for the vid.
I dont know why, but whenever i see natasha and carrie in SATC, Diana and Camila case is pop up in my head…
Natasha is classy, stylish and well bred like Diana
Carries is like Camila - well except the previous marriage and divorce
Their contrast in anyway is somehow similar to Diana and Camilla
Yes… Big ended with Carrie…
Natasha is old money- she has style but also class. I never considered Carrie to be classy and poised… doesn’t mean you can’t be classy on budget but Carrie was not. She was always loud and quite entitled.
just a side note - YOU ARE STUNNING
Natasha: elegant, controlled, enigmatic, traditional, classic . beautiful
Carrie was what was referred to as “bridge and tunnel” (even though she was living in Manhattan). Natasha was purely upper east side.
Natasha was just the better choice and a threat to Carrie. Carrie was the 'pick me' girl and she will always feel threaten by a woman like Natasha
Not only the video is deep and informative but also the comments are interesting!
Thankyou Michelle ❤️ for this hardwork & perfection in your work and commitment to our preference ✨️❤️🔥
I loved Natasha’s style. Thank you for sharing 🤍
They did Natasha dirty. Carrie calling her a stick finger with no soul.
Natasha was very nice to her until she had an affair with her husband .
This is such a good breakdown, i love how you mentioned their mbti types and the projection that carrie demonstrates
This video is so well made on so many levels, as expected from this channel.
I'm excited to watch more videos from you.
Carrie is so obsessed about Natasha. Natasha doesn't think about Carrie at all.
Natasha has self respect. As soon as she found out about Big and Carrie, she exited the relationship with a quickness.
I have never seen a single Sex In The City episode but UA-cam keeps throwing these essay videos at me...and I keep watching 😂🍿
It’s so funny because I always thought Natasha reminded be of Carolyn Bessette.. now I know why!
Mishal that Black Dress is Giving!! 👑🖤
Thank you! 🙏🏻🖤
Even though you’ve never watched the show?
Men bring out the worst in some women. The same women who are all "girl-power" feminists vilify the "boring" "ugly stick figure with no soul" while THEY are the perpetrators. Women get ugly sometimes. Touch their self-interest and they turn into mean girls.
@@wcolautti yes honey you dont have to be an Einstein to see the dynamics in those short clips. Is that all? Any other questions?
YES! I think it is definitely representative of society at that time but I’m so happy to see how everything is changing
Natasha was a stunning timeless beauty...Carrie hid behind her style
I am thoroughly impressed with this analysis. Every word is spot on.
Natasha reminds me so much of Princess Cathrines public persona (obviously we don’t know her personally).
