One of the most classic Sullivan clips! When "Rock Around the Clock" was heard at the opening of "The Blackboard Jungle" and teens went wild listening to it in the theaters, that was the signal that rock and roll had arrived in the mainstream, and there was no turning back. Only rock and roll band of the 50s to have an accordion player.
It's being played in this performance even though it wasn't played on the original recording and isn't heard on any of their famous recordings, the accordion player then went onto play the piano which isn't heard on any of thier famous recordings..
The reason for this is in the early 50s when they were a western swing band they had an accordion player..
Why keep him you may ask, the reason is he was the only band member who could read sheet music, and thus became their arranger.
Hence why he appears in most of their videos yet has very little, often nothing to do.
But without him they'd have problems so he was kept in, they've also got a steel guitarist who seems to not actually be heard on any well known recordings..
95% of thier recordings contain lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist& vocalist, bass, drums and saxophonist..
    A 5 piece band with 7 members

And that's how you create Memorable lead guitar🙄👍🏻👍🏻, instead of 1,000 notes a second that gives a hoot about

    ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK
    ARTISTA: BILL HALEY
One, two, three o'clock, four o'clock, rock
Five, six, seven o'clock, eight o'clock, rock
Nine, ten, eleven o'clock, twelve o'clock, rock
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
Put your glad rags on and join me, hon'
We'll have some fun when the clock strikes one
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight
When the clock strikes two, three and four
If the band slows down we'll yell for more
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight
When the chimes ring five, six and seven
We'll be right in seventh heaven
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight
When it's eight, nine, ten, eleven too
I'll be goin' strong and so will you
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight
When the clock strikes twelve, we'll cool off then
Start a rockin' round the clock again
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight

@@TempeSoldier123 This didn't start Rock and Roll, but it was the first big Rock and Roll hit. And for that they deserve credit. We may have never ever heard of Chuck Berry, Little Richard, or Elvis if not for this song.

Bill was like: Okay so we are gonna do the song in a little faster tempo and you could see the lead guitarist was sweating bullets during the solo

In the original recording released in May 1954, the guitar solo was performed by virtuoso Danny Cedrone (who unfortunately died in the summer of '54).

@@markmmv Yeah he died not long after the song was recorded. I don’t think it had even hit the national airwaves yet.
