Thank you for this video. It was very helpful. It seems a difficult diet to practice if you are trying not to eat carbs, dairy and wheat. But this video helped!
I'm Vatta/Pitta, but it seems Pitta is the one that's unbalanced in my body. Although inside my mind is still Vatta that leads me to unbalances such as lack of focus or doing 5 things at the same time. I suffer from acne and some digestive symptoms (bloating). I really need help to figure out where the source of my problem is. Is it possible that an excessive Vatta unbalances my Pitta? Like my poor digestion is leading me to have inflammatory problems such as acne. Or that my excessive Pitta is leading me to poor digestion? Watching both videos, the Pitta and Vatta diets, I saw that there are many oppositions to one another which made me confused.
Hi! It is often easiest to start with balancing one dosha and then moving to the next. Vata tends to pull the others out of balance so many people start with vata. It's also helpful to talk with a practitioner who can help guide you around any deeper imbalances. 💚
Great Video! I love the list of foods to eat! My Prakriti Is Pitta Kapha, and my Vikriti tends to be very heavy in Pitta. With an extreme Pitta imbalance, my excess heat tends to make everything very dry. I don't really see it pushing on Vata other than the dry tendency, which can seem odd to a Pitta Kapha. I think it comes from Agni burning up all of the nutrients, leading to the dry/ atrophy tissue state we see in Modern Western Herbalism.
Wild to find out about this today, become so completely engrossed to figure out I am mostly pitta, and then to see all the synchronicities between myself and preferences and what you have said. Very interesting…. Like for example one of my favorite meals to calm myself down is tacos- with a whole bunch of cumin and cilantro 😂

Pitta does well with a moderate amount of oil, as long as it is cooling in nature like Olive Oil. The spices mentioned are only mildly heating, helping to maintain a balanced digestive fire without provoking pitta, and, in some cases, are actively cooling.
Thank you! Good question. When both vata and pitta are equally imbalanced, we recommend focusing on balancing vata first, as that can help bring both doshas back into balance due to vata's inherently mobile nature. I see all the advice on how to balance pitta dosha, but I am searching how to increase pitta in your body, and I don't entirely understand what it means. Does it mean to eat the opposite of what pitta balanced diet recommend? My astrologist told me that my pitta or fire energy is low, so I should eat "pitta increasing diet". Anybody can help me with that? 😌🙏
Great questions! If pitta is low, that likely means vata or kapha are elevated or imbalanced in your constitution. It may be supportive to follow a diet more in line with pacifying vata or kapha. Our digestive fire quiz may help guide your decision www.banyanbotanicals.com/info/blog-the-banyan-insight/details/agni-quiz/

Good question! Generally, Ayurveda recommends avoiding caffeine. However, if it is too hard to give up, there are some ways of making it more pitta-friendly. You can try drinking it with coconut milk, which has a cooling effect on the pitta dosha. Another practice that many of us do here in the office is to add a pinch of cardamom to coffee, which can help make the coffee less acidic on the digestive system. I just found your site! Thank you for this amazing description - you described me in amazing detail. I hope altering my diet will help to alleviate my pitta dominance. My question would be about decaf green teas - how do they affect pitta? Thanks.
Hi Leah! So glad you are finding support! Decaf green tea would be a much better option for Pitta. You can add cooling elements like hibiscus or mint for more balance!
During these summers I am daily taking Shilajit with milk before going to bed, Being a pittah prakriti person is it safe to consume Shilajit as it is considered to be warm in nature.......?????🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Good question! Ayurveda considers shilajit balancing for all doshas, though its gentle heating nature can make it aggravating for pitta if taken in excess. As long as you keep to the recommended dose, it shouldn't throw pitta off. 🙂
We're sorry to hear that! We do have a great article on Pitta Pacifying Foods that you may find supportive 💚 www.banyanbotanicals.com/info/ayurvedic-living/living-ayurveda/diet/pitta-pacifying-foods/
It can be tough to keep balance whenever a dosha gets aggravated, but do your best to move forward, and don't worry if you slip up. It's all part of the process!
It depends on your constitution and whatever imbalances might be already present. The best guide is going to be your body when it comes to what foods nourish us. Chocolate is a very new food and was unknown to the ancient Rishis, so it's not directly attested in the texts, but a little sweetness can be good for Pitta from time to time.
It depends on what your current imbalances are! For example, if you are experiencing elevated Pitta right now, and that is your highest imbalance, then you would want to focus on a Pitta Pacifying diet to bring your Pitta back into balance. If it was Vata that was most imbalanced, you would want to focus on a Vata pacifying diet until that has been brought back into balance, etc.
: Splash water on you les hott and dont overdo it : EXERCISE !! pitta gotta be depleted or i wil not overdo it (adequetly chalenging exercise) 2 hours weak exercises ( joging in right) \ : certain : Sleep in less that 10:00, becouse pitta activates in override after 10:00 to 2:00 am sooo its no sleep time : self massages, preder to do with oils,
Thank you for bringing that up. A small amount of salt is necessary for a balanced diet, however, most popular recipes and dishes out there call for an excessive amount of salt that can aggravate the pitta dosha. We recommend avoiding excessive salt when possible. For example, it might be wise to favor unsalted butter over salted butter, use salt sparingly as a seasoning, and opt for seasonings and spice mixes that contain a small amount of salt in combination with other ingredients that make it balancing for all doshas, like our Kitchari Spice Mix. www.banyanbotanicals.com/kitchari-spice-mix/
To those who are confused between vata and pitta. Ask yourself are you losing weight then you are vata. If you are not or rather gaining weight then you are pitta.
We appreciate your input! We'd also add that Vata type digestion can be indicated by forgetfulness around eating, excess air in the digestive tract, and a variable, somewhat weak digestive fire. Pitta type digestion is typically indicated by hot, sharp qualities, an insatiable appetite, and sometimes an overactive digestive fire. For more guidance, we have a short Agni Quiz that can help determine your digestive fire www.banyanbotanicals.com/info/blog-the-banyan-insight/details/agni-quiz/ 🔥
Thanks for your feedback, and sorry to hear about your pitta imbalance. Much of this information is covered on our pitta diet page, so we encourage you to give that a read: www.banyanbotanicals.com/info/ayurvedic-living/living-ayurveda/diet/pitta-pacifying-diet/
The most important thing I've learned from Dosha is - stay away from Pitta individuals. The characteristic of Pitta, not be discriminating male or female, is crude, naive, narrow-minded, money-hungry and manipulative. This obviously leads to a nature-deficit disorder. That I may perceive that the typical Pitta not give a damn about mother earth and whatever holds the world together is Vata/Kapa, while Pitta divides nature. I use strong language, because the world is at a crossroads, better or for worse and Pitta decide on war day-to-day. You bet!
Her kapha approach as she works to control her vatta tendencies is making my out of balance pitta super irritated... get the led out and teach me how to CALM DOWN. lol
One has to continually up the volume because your voice starts to drown in your throat. Please ensure a clear voice with an outward throw instead of speaking inside your vocal chords.
Pitta Imbalance can cause Eczema, Hives, Itchy Rash etc. One must avoid spicy, and oily food, such As Garlic, Garam-Masala, Chilli, Raw Onions, and Citrus fruits must be avoided.
Dark chocolate is aggravating for my Pitta because it's too stimulating and it has coffein ,I need milk with chocolate to calm the stimulating effect of chocolate down
Anjolo, thanks for your comment! You certainly don't have to eat a perfectly Pitta-pacifying diet 100% of the time. It's great to stick with these foods and practices during the summer when Pitta can become most elevated. However, if you are a primarily Pitta constitution, you can incorporate a few of these tips year round to balance that fiery energy. Even just cooling off with a glass of coconut water or a cucumber can help reduce the qualities of Pitta in the body and mind. Check out this list of foods that can help bring the heat (and anger) down! There are lots of ways to incorporate these into your diet/lifestyle and even more ways to combine them to create delicious, nutritious, and Pitta-friendly meals. www.banyanbotanicals.com/info/ayurvedic-living/living-ayurveda/diet/pitta-pacifying-foods/ Good luck, and stay cool 😎

Can pitta people take coffee?
I am allergic to wheat, I wish I could eat it, would probably help with the acid
We're sorry to hear that! We do have a great article on Pitta Pacifying Foods that you may find supportive 💚 www.banyanbotanicals.com/info/ayurvedic-living/living-ayurveda/diet/pitta-pacifying-foods/
My Pitta gets aggravated 2 weeks before period, because I consume lots of sugar during that time :(
It can be tough to keep balance whenever a dosha gets aggravated, but do your best to move forward, and don't worry if you slip up. It's all part of the process!
Is chocolate aggravating for Pitta? It gives me severe acid reflux ,the dark one atleast ,milk one doesnt bother me at all
It depends on your constitution and whatever imbalances might be already present. The best guide is going to be your body when it comes to what foods nourish us. Chocolate is a very new food and was unknown to the ancient Rishis, so it's not directly attested in the texts, but a little sweetness can be good for Pitta from time to time.
These diets wont harm any other doshas, its good for all in general not specific to Pitta
A balanced diet that soothes the other doshas while balancing for the one you are focusing on is the goal! 💚
So I did my quiz and I found I have more Pitta and then Vata and Kapha…so which diet should I follow?
It depends on what your current imbalances are! For example, if you are experiencing elevated Pitta right now, and that is your highest imbalance, then you would want to focus on a Pitta Pacifying diet to bring your Pitta back into balance. If it was Vata that was most imbalanced, you would want to focus on a Vata pacifying diet until that has been brought back into balance, etc.

Bur you have to eat a little bit of salt!?
Calming the pitta means increacing ine of the moovement or consistancy and maki g your habbits increacing other 4

Me too😅
LOL
Assuming pitta is the warrior architype or thecwll its not and quality iruented i
The most important thing I've learned from Dosha is - stay away from Pitta individuals. You bet!

Thank you for sharing your insights and feedback, we will certainly take these into consideration for our future videos.
One has to continually up the volume because your voice starts to drown in your throat. Please ensure a clear voice with an outward throw instead of speaking inside your vocal chords.
We appreciate your feedback! We will definitely take this into consideration for future videos 💚
Your voice dies off at the end of a sentence and I had to rewind constantly
Pitta Imbalance can cause Eczema, Hives, Itchy Rash etc. One must avoid spicy, and oily food, such As Garlic, Garam-Masala, Chilli, Raw Onions, and Citrus fruits must be avoided.

Low voice ...no use of this video
Dark chocolate is aggravating for my Pitta because it's too stimulating and it has coffein ,I need milk with chocolate to calm the stimulating effect of chocolate down
Wonderful idea! It's good to balance the effects of any foods with complementary ones.
Keep thinking you're about to say pitter patter
This vid is good. But makes me angry, leaving me to eat just healthy boring stuff.
