  • This Dewalt drill won't change from forward to reverse. Change lever works but drill only runs forward.
This is one iv never seen before but can happen. The little micro wiper inside the switch for forw/rev has snapped in half.
It is more common for the trigger wiper to fail, but that one can also fail.
This is not something you can order in, so this is a repair that you can only do if you have a scrap dewalt laying around. Dosent have to be a drill either, dewalt use this setup in loads of tools. So anything with a forward/rev switch may work.
For the Size, price, power, and reliability of those drills, I actually quite like it.
It's not the most powerful, but it is a good unit for the money.

Damn, I stumble across your channel, 7 hours later I have to get to other things, can't sit here all day and just do youtube. Loves repair channels, gives oneself more confidence and understanding to maybe do repairs on my own tools and try to extend the life of all tools.

I like it when re-assembling everything lines up and that little audible click sounds. A master at work.

Thanks for the warning about the hammer action. I got this and the impact in a set for a song from screwfix a while back ( £149 if I remember correctly). Cheap and cheerful they may be, but I’d rather not abuse them. Nice little set for my woodworking and diy.

Helps me... doesn't matter if I never come across the exact same tool - there's always some new tiny detail I learn from each video I didn't think of before and that may come handy one day

Thanks for the warning about the hammer drill action. I got a 2021 model, used the hammer a few times but won’t from now on. Thanks once again:)

I honestly use mine pretty hard on sites. Mostly steel work and the occasional 6mm masonry hole.
Paid for itself a few times over already .
Noticed that every now and again when using the hammer action the bit is a bit of a mission to get out the chuck . Will definitely try to use it less for masonry.

Great video. you are my master!!! Could you ever replace the gearbox in this screwdriver? along with disassembling the gearbox and then putting it all back together? Unfortunately, I can't cope with assembling the gearbox and I need help :(

Interesting why do you say don’t use the hammer? It is not very hammery on my 996 but okay for light weight blocks

Hello there I like your channel very much I can keep watching you forever can you please answering me about why in your opinion you not recommend using the hammerhead on the drill if it is available? Can you do some video regarding your tips and tricks for these kind of things from your experience thank you very much again

How do find the chuck on this? Mine has been starting to become unreleasable. I ended up having to use adjustables to open the chuck

What’s wrong with the hammer design? Find myself using it every now and then. For small one off jobs when I too lazy to fetch the corded

The gearbox is only plastic. The hammer mechanism will heat up and melt into the plastic. Locking the drill in Hammer mode permanently

Now how does youtube know that i own this model ? Mine is almost new and on quick trigger release it makes a cracking noise inside. Is that normal ? This did not make that noise as mine does as if the gears inside as about to break. I think it's the quick stop but i didnt expect it to have a quick selfdestruct function.

Cordless brush motor tools almost did not fail and were more robust and durable. The brushless ones are delicate and have a lot of electronics.

What's everyone's thoughts on Ryobi vs Dewalt vs Makita vs Mauwakee? Would most Dewalt stuff be more than enough for the average office worker who does some weekend mechanics as a hobby?

    • @deandohertygreaser
      @deandohertygreaser  10 місяців тому +12

Dewalt is one of the best all round brands to go for. Motors are one solid piece like a mileaukee, but the quality is good.
Makita also has a good platform and very good tools amd quality amd repairablity is even better. But a little more expensive.
Ryobi is only DIY, it's OK for light work, but low price low quality.
Milwaukee is known as red ryobi, high priced low quality. But if your on the states it has a 5 year warranty.
