  • The North Cascades highway, or HWY 20 from Marblemount to Winthrop Washington, is by far the deadliest scenic motorcycle ride in Washington State. It is a absolutely beautiful ride with stunning views of mountains, colorful lakes, damns, rivers, valleys, and the old west themed town of Winthrop at the end. There are plenty of turns and hills, as well as inattentive motorists. Get out there, enjoy the ride, but be aware and cautious. The single car accident at the end of this video just barely missed one of our fellow riders, and a rider from Bellingham lost his life on a curve out here the week prior to filming.

One of many great stretches of highways and mountain passes. I find myself crossing many of Washington passes nearly every week on my BMW R1250 GS Adventure from March through October, and this is one of my favorite routes. Make sure you slow down and stop at Diablo Dam and when you get to Winthrop WA (modern western themed town). Also recommend lodging at the Best Western in Omak, they have pool tables, a pool, a huge free hot breakfast, and a casino right up the road. Thanks for sharing a great video.

hwy 20 is good most of the way to Idaho, there are a few boring stretches but you still have 4 more passes. Sherman Pass is the highest year round pass in the state

I've ridden the North Cascades highway. It is an unforgettable ride. Bring some layers. Even in summer, it's the highest pass in the state and can get 30 degrees colder than sea level at the summit. Gas up on each side, the crossing over is 100+ miles between stations.

    Greetings fellow moto bikers
, I just made the first trip of the season across and I noticed that just uphill from the gorge lake bridge for about four maybe 5 miles the chip seal is coming loose so watch your speed especially there on the corners. The rest is complete bliss especially on a Tuesday or Wednesday :-)

Great ride... will have to keep that in mind for a cross continent run in 2023.

@@GreatMotorcyleridesWashington I'll be doing a video on my long term planning later this year... I can't see traveling into the states until 2023. I want to zigzag as much as possible around the continent... hopefully I can look you up. I did go from Portland, up the Columbia River Gorge and stayed a stormy night in Ritzville? on my way back east after a cross continent in 2008.

@@OldGuyonaBike nice, the gorge there is the nicest way. The Columbia plateau can be a high straight and boring ride. I am in the west side of Washington. Much more rain, but some of the best riding there is when the weather is good.

Howdy. Just found this and want to ride 20 from the east to west on my way back home from sturgis but looking at the map I have a question about gas. Is there stations along the way. The bike I ride and mods to it I get 125 to 140 miles on a tank depending how much I twist my wrist. Enjoy the vids and info on the channel. Keep up the good work and if you get around Aberdeen give me a holler and we can have a cold one.

Lived here for many years and most all the deaths are on POS Harleys.
