    I did this traverse in 1975, looking forward to doing it again. I'm only 72. I love this alpinist.

    I decided to look up Sahale Mountain. I hiked this trail to the Doubtful Lake overlook many years ago, what a view! I'm going back to continue on and climb Sahale Mountain soon, I can't wait! Thanks for the video.

      @@wanderingwashington I fully, completely understand... I moved to Colorado just over seven years ago and have been in a state of Nirvana ever since (Nirvanarado... ✌). BTW, the Northern Cascades are by far the most similar looking (M)ountains to a couple of my favorite ranges over here. Thanks again for your inspiring content.

    Thank you so much for sharing these unique experiences of yours. I had a chance to live in Washington State for a while and I have to admit, it is one of the most remarkable places on earth. It really goes with the vibe of nature, people are more grounded and down to earth. A lot of good coffee that warms you up in the cold months, ohh I miss Washington so much. Thank you for bringing all these great memories back to me. Truly what I needed after weeks of rising stress and anxiety, this brought me back to myself. Thank you so much. Sending you much love and wishing you the best on your next adventure.

    I have been backpacking for over 50 years and been near many mountain goats. They are usually searching for salt. If you approach them and they are uncomfortable, they will stomp their front feet. That means, “Come NO further!!” If you stand still and let them approached you they will come within 4’ of you. It has happened to me several times.

    Great Video! You had some great luck with the wildlife spottings! I'm planning on hiking this trail in June, up to the Lake (and maybe even down to the Lake) and was just wondering the total time it took for you from parking lot to parking lot? The google maps estimations have been inaccurate in the past, and they don't account for taking in and enjoying the views!

    • @wanderingwashington
      @wanderingwashington  Рік тому

      Took me 7 hours in total(I did trail run half of the descent)
      June will still have plenty of snow in this area, so be advised, should be beautiful!

    For those of you perfecting your PNW pronunciation, Sahale is pronounced SAH-HAIL

    • @leestamm3187
      @leestamm3187 Рік тому +9

      Beg to differ. Any North Cascades park or area forest ranger, as well as experienced regional hikers like me, will tell you that it's pronounced Sah-HAH-lee. It's a 3 syllable Chinook word meaning a high place.
