Yes! I came in April and October in 2022! (My Fifth time) I am not a 'Goth' I am an original 1977 'pUnK rOcKer' Whitby is the most amazing place to come for a holiday or a short break. There are so many wonderful places to visit along the same coast; The Cleveland Way, Saltburn on Sea, Ravenscar, Runswick Bay, Staithes, Robin Hood's Bay, Filey, Scarborough, Withernsea, Hornsea, Hull! Back to 'The Goth Weekend' there are so many pubs, many with live music, there is no end of places to eat/drink and be merry, there is so much to see with; the harbour (boat trips), beaches, cliffs, amusement arcades, but also some very classy shops selling homewares, and great artisan bakeries and coffee shops, and cafe's, and some lovely restaurants. You have to cross the water to see the old town with it's craft shops and take the 199 steps up to 'The Abbey', there are amazing views, and you must visit the 'brewery' and have a beverage ! I would like to live there, as there is a 'normal town' behind the 'Great stuff' that I have already mentioned ! dx
4.54 For a split second, thought that person was covered in broken biscuits 😆 Nice little vid ☺️ Used to do the goth thing about 15 years ago, great memories 🦇💀
Hi Glenn, thank you for the upload again, I was here, and the start 7:47 is myself at the bandstand with my partner, we were in the Yorkshire Post. It was the Legendary Dave Stephenson, Myself, and Craig Jenkins on most of the images. The important thing I'd like to say is that you have captured the weekend so well, what a brilliant video, and everyone was amazing, and some really standout Characters 👌🏻 Many thanks, Shaun 🧛🏻♂️🎩🖤🦇
We were staying in Robin Hood's Bay for the week and went to Whitby on the 29th October it was absolutely fantastic loved it. We did Whitby Abbey on Halloween an event definitely not to be missed.
I was thinking more "Whitby Halloween Weekend" Has a better feel about it, and like you say, no goths come now anyway so rebrand for the better, Im with you.
We came for the actual music not costumes ...each to their own but the Goth part of the weekend has been marginalised so maybe the need to rename it fancy dress weekend.
“I disliked Whitby and the Goths; the place I found wet and the people rude. They had the fine qualities which bore me - thrift and industry and long-faced holiness, and the young women are mostly great genteel boisterous things who are no doubt bedworthy enough if your taste runs that way. (One acquaintance of mine who had a Goths clergyman’s daughter described it as like wrestling with a sergeant of dragoons.) The men I found solemn, hostile, and greedy, and they found me insolent, arrogant, and smart.”
Synth Pop Hello Synth Pop, Believe me you would find Lancashire folk ( just across into the next County) much more approachable/Friendly, ( perhaps you come from Lancashire ? ) Anyway, Peace to all.
As long as everyone is happy we're happy. As a life long Whitby resident is lovely to see all these people enjoying the town for a couple of days, . Everyones welcome, goth steampunk, Chinese and aliens. Tolerance is key.
Did you enjoy this video ? There are lots more local videos at this link.

Great video!!! great costumes💪👍
The scary part is that if Count Dracula did exist ,he would even be noticed amongst the crowds ,then again on any given day I suppose .🤣🤣🤣
Yes I came to Whitby goth weekend and saw my daughter in church street on the video jean. From doncaster

Not like Lincoln in Lincolnshire then .

I didn't encounter any rudeness maybe you started it.
no didnt spot ourselfs
This isn't Goth. This is fancy dress. The real Goths were in the Pavilion or in the Little Angel pub.
Seems such a shame to hide away like that when you come to our beautiful town. Next time come to town and say hi.
Very few Goths in the video. Steampunk is NOT Goth.
Wearing fancy dress is not goth.

Yes but to be fair it's called the Goth week-end.
@@berits.2346 But to be very fair, as a town, we welcome everyone. If you seek to divide then the outcome is often bad.
Same creeps like dressing up as dinner ladies at the weekend lol..
