    I have knit this hat over and over from her pattern and I love it!! I use Red Heart Soft yarn. It has a unique feel and knits up in this hat beautifully!! Try this pattern and that yarn and you won't be disappointed. (And I'm not usually a lover of Red Heart yarns).

    Christine, I just wanted to let you know that you taught me to knit over a year ago through your videos and it’s the greatest gift I’ve ever learned. I knit every day, have made SO many things. I’ve gifted every one of my family members beautiful knitted projects.
    Thank you so much!!
    Also, my hat is turning out wonderful so far. Thanks for the tutorial.

      @@iKNITS I haven’t taken pics of everything I’ve made over the course of the years, but I followed you and I’ll share the recent things. Just a side note, you helped me learn how to knit while my mom was on hospice and I was able to knit while she crocheted. You helped me create life long memories. Thank you for what you do. Thank you 🙏🏼 💝

    Christine. I just tried your cast on and it’s so neat and clean. Thank you. I’ve made many of these hats, and comparing mine to yours is. ( well a big difference on the inside where you have to pick up the live stitches.) I’m so happy you made this tutorial, and sure you’ve helped many knitters. I do long tail cast on and just try to keep my stitches spread out a little looser than I normally would so there's more space between .. and when you fold and join you'll just pick up the line between the stitches trying to match up the knits with the knits and the purls with the purls

    The provisional cast-on in the pattern doesn't work nicely for me, when "unzipping." This looks like it works better. I'm working on the 6th hat and struggled each time. I wish I had found this video before now! I'll be sure to follow your instructions the next time I make this pattern. And I'm sure I will make more. Thank you.

      It can be done if you really prefer straight needles. You will just need to sew the sides together to make a hat shaped tube. The seam will show a bit in the back. If you can get circular needles, give them a try. It seems awkward when you start to use them the first time, but soon you'll love the speed and convenience of not having to turn your work and reverse the pattern to get a consistent front side.

    • @loving110995
      @loving110995 Рік тому +1

      If you're using a worsted yarn you can use the same needle size she used. If you're using a sports or dk yarn then you will need to increase the number of stitches..along with the amount of rows you do for each set of the pattern I would try maybe 100 for a sport or dk yarn and size 4 needles..
      Knit the brim until it's about 5 Inches. Or so then join..
      If you have a way to try it on (maybe slip it onto longer needles) then try it on and see if it'll fit your head or if till be way too big or too small before proceeding further..

      @loving110995 Рік тому

      It depends on head size really.. I can say for my almost 3 year old I casted on 72 sts.
      Using a worsted weight yarn and a 4-4.5mm 86 should be large enough for most heads.. you can always increase the number of stitches by 2 as needed. It would change how you decrease the hat though. You may end up with extra sts or needing to make an extra row of decreases

      @Chipadoodle1116 6 років тому

      iKNITS yes, I have just made the standard size and it fits me perfect! I want to make one for my brother as well but I think it will be too tight. Would there be much of a difference with bigger needles/yarn?

      Anything you knit in the round can be made with DPN or circular needles .. dpn can be a little more of a hassle if you have alot of stitches but some people prefer dpns

      I believe there is a pattern for a similar crochet hat. I would google cc beanie in crochet and see what you find. But you should try this knitted one! It's so fun to make!

    • @iKNITS

      Roxanne West I’m sorry! It’s because we all knit differently. Some knit tight and some knit loose. If you knit a gauge swatch before you make it, then you can compare your swatch measurements to the designers and see if you need to go up or down a needle size, or different size yarn.

      Don't fret! It's hard for many when you're trying something new but keep at it, you'll get it. Here's a tip: try a larger size yarn and needle - like a chunky 5. You'll be able to see your work better and handle the needles easier. Hope this helps. Good luck!

    • @mariemilia4127

      Mine!! I usually join then begin my round. By just continuing to work in the round I had a huge gap.

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  4 роки тому

      Marie Milia if mine looks more of a gap then I’d like, when I’ve finished knitting, I weave my end where it tightens that gap and looks invisible. But there are other ways to do it that good as well. What’s your favorite way to join in the round?

    • @tlneill
      @tlneill 4 роки тому

      Look up invisible join by new stitch a day.
