Found this accidentally and love your ease of shifting between accents. The excitement and passion you bring to talking and teaching this is wonderful.
2:51 I LOVE her 1930's radio announcer voice. It just cracks me up along with her Transatlantic accent from another video where she's reviewing celebrity accents from various films.
As someone who loves learning about languages and accents this really helped. I definitely agree, you have to feel it and live it to make it believable
Thank you for the advice! I pick up sounds (mimicking animals and singers) quickly, and accents easily when listening to a native speaker (in fact, so easily that it happens unconsciously and unexpectedly even down to melody, word order and choice and I am generally unaware I have changed accents until a friend points it out), but for some reason I can never reproduce the accents away from the source. It can be quite frustrating. I shall have to practice, practice, and practice some more!
To be fair, it could be that people are still working on the first part. There's a lot to practice in a lot to chew on and to understand from that first part.
1:41 Like in England we say that we're going to the pharmacy, and when I was younger we moved further north I got really confused because everyone called lunch dinner and dinner was called tea. When people were moody everyone said mardy. And in South London there is a whole slang system that nobody spoke up north. Weird how one small country can have such variation, huh?
I admit, I was paying more attention to Amy's smile than her accent. Of course, I was still listening to her. She is just that captivating! She draws you into whatever she says with such ease and flair! I'm absolutely SMITTEN!!
The way you explain the link between emotions and personality and accent, especially the temporal aspect of it, gives me the freaking chills! Hats off to you Amy.
What fascinates me a lot about this - besides all the great advide about how to learn an accent - is that this advice is also extremly helpful if you want to weaken your accent. I'm from Germany and I don't have a heavy German accent but you can still hear where I come from. So I can use your advice vice-versa to sound a little less ridiculous.
Thanks Amy ! I was born in France and have lived in Australia and struggled with my accent for 10 years. Never thought of it this way. I love the idea of keeping the character's vibe and accent together! Your vibe is amazing by the way! Thanks again!
It is not just about your brilliant performance on accents, but also your body language reinforces every single word coming out of your mouth. Do you also teach body language skills?
Great advice. Thank you Amy, you are not only extremely talented but as you said you have done your homework and spent thousands of hours to get to where you are. Thank you for sharing your gifts and fruits of your work with us.
This girl is definitely an artist!! I am TOTALLY fascinated by accents. And I'm trying to write a book that has a lot of characters with many different accents. So thank U very very much Amy Walker, UR a tru inspiration. Later days.
I second the request for a Spanish accent video, but I also want to tell you, you are AMAZING! Thank you very much for taking the trouble to publish. I'm definitely subscribing!
You are obviously passionate about what you're talking about and I greatly enjoy it. I adore linguistics and I just love learning different languages. I love finding the similarities between languages and etymology of words. You will be a role model for me while I try to tackle learning some accents (Danish in particular). Thank you for the awesome videos! =)
very very long time ago i watched this video and i used it to practice my non native english, and now im back with another account lmao, but this video reapeared on my page and i rlly want to thank you bc i've been mistaked as a native speaker and its thank to this and the first part and i rlly it was life changer
You're amazing. i've been studying for an english language international exam and was searching for the best accent that would fit me durring the speaking test and bumped into your videos. And well.. i got inspired and i think i'm about to let go of the technical and formal aspects of studying that and get onto that which speaks authenticaly inside us. The rithm and vibe tips were the best ever. thanks a lot.
I find it difficult to do regional accents from Great Britain, because some of them seem to differ so slightly, but in ways that are very noticeable to a native. It's the subtleties that are difficult to master, but can make or break the sense of authenticity of an accent.
Her mother tongue accent is American. It is the most natural way she speaks. Her explanations are generally in an American accent and she tends to think before taking on other accents. I would say most likely, she is American.
My favorite is the old radio announcer. I have noticed for some time now that no one speaks like that anymore. Language definitely evolves fairly quickly. Thank you.
Very interesting Amy. I've always been interested in accents, and how they can change people's demeanor depending on the accent, as demonstrated by actors in different roles. Thanks.
I think it's really good that I cannot tell which our of a few of those accents is your real one! You sound so authentic in each accent that pretty much any of them could be your accent that you use every day in your "normal" life. Great work! Subscribed!
I LOVE this! As a singer myself....I get people who talk about my accent all the time...how its too country...or thick etc etc etc. anyway.... Makes a lot of sense. Not only that, you're smart, and beautiful! Peace Drew
I find communicating as a whole fascinating- how we can express our feelings and everything by making weird sounds. Then those sounds differ from place to place and slang forms in different places at different times. I love learning different languages and cultures and have recently gotten into accents. Language is just fascinating.
Born Brit, Grew up in Aus, and yes, you do some amazing accents. Aussie one was great, so true on the Bottleo ahh but can you pick a difference between east and west coasts :P
This woman is fascinating and engaging! It doesn't even feel like she's talking to a camera, she makes you feel like she's actually talk to YOU. I also find it funny that every time she starts talking about exerting an 'attitude' and 'feeling the accent' or 'finding the groove or flow', she always does the Brooklyn accent. I guess that's her idea of one of the most expressive accents out there lol.
I already commented on part one, but I just wanted to add - I've spent countless hours looking up samples of accents and reading or listening to tutorials on accents (including some dialect coaches), and this is easily one of the best resources I've found. I think I'm going to link this to my acting professor.
You really are a legend Amy!! Like you say, time as much as place is vital (ok, I paraphrased), I've been good with accents since I was quite young but I have a tape of me and my mum in '78-'79 or so and that is an accent I can't even begin to do, yet I actually spoke that way!!
Hi Amy, what a discovery it has been for me to find your videos and you! With such a "laser" communication I could understand perfectly all the things and steps I have to take into account to better my English (American) pronunciation till I can at least better my present perfect "Speedy Gonzalez" accent! Thank you, you are lo máximo!
You're so good in your accents, singing, acting, I keep putting your videos on repeat. Absolutely amazing!! Marvellous!! Or should I say "Fascinating!!" I've always been fascinated by the way people speak and analyse their accent and switch when talking to them. You've inspired me. By the way, in Australia it's "bottle shop" , not "bottler", to mean liquor store.
"Try somebody on." Great advice, with implications far more broad than learning accents or characters. On a side note...I'm from Denver, and when I get in a good mood, I've been asked by many people if I'm from New York. Anyone ever heard of adopting an accent that you've never actually spent much time around?
I don't even listen to this to learn how to adopt an accent, it's just jaw-dropping (pun intended) how easily her voice switches between accents and rhythms. It's downright incredible.
you're so talented! i wish you would do full tutorials on one accent at a time..i want to learn esp. the irish ,russian and the old american accent. so cool.
Thanks for the instruction! Yesterday, I was given less than 24 hours to affect an Italian accent for an appearance on a spoof talk show tonight, as a friend of mine could not make it due to other obligations. It will also be my first improv work in quite some time...
I'm an actress too Amy, but I used to be rubbish at doing accents! these videos REALLY helped me and I find it a lot easier to do different characters now. Thank you so much!
This is very intriguing! I've studied a bit of Scouse, as oppose to Liverpool, Manchester, London (English, Cockney), Scottish versus Irish, and a few others. But dang, girl, your on a roll! Thank you for posting these!
LOL...I've always loved people who can do accents, you are really good. I hope you're doing seminars and the like because you can make alot of money doing this...you are talented girl!
@1986mayday yes! A friend of mine is from Utah and her little brother speaks like he is from somewhere in northeastern america (boston type) and the rest of the family speaks a western american accent. He hasn't ever been anywhere near the area where his accent originates.
"Oh my God, You exist!" Genius!
As someone who loves learning about languages and accents this really helped. I definitely agree, you have to feel it and live it to make it believable
Thank you for the advice! It can be quite frustrating. I shall have to practice, practice, and practice some more!
Diana Ries I completely understand.
I can't help but laugh at how part 1 has over 1 million views, but part 2 has less than 1/2 a million views.
A lot of quitters.
Andrew Zoyes that's what feels good about voice acting...sure lot enter, but not many actually stay
I love accents, She has 1 million views thats amazing!!! I have 15 lol
True mate!
More like people were on shitters
To be fair, it could be that people are still working on the first part. There's a lot to practice in a lot to chew on and to understand from that first part.

When people were moody everyone said mardy. And in South London there is a whole slang system that nobody spoke up north. Weird how one small country can have such variation, huh?
Jessica Gomez Yeah, and pharmacy used to be “chemist” and in some places still is, and in some places is apparently even becoming “drugstore”.
Jessica Gomez Speaking of “mardy”, listen to Mardy Bum. ;)
@Mia Smith Yeah I'll just call Superdrug Boots 😂
In the first part you had half an American accent and half an English accent, but now you're completely American. You are extremely good at this!
But you're freaking brilliant. Super good at what you do.
I admit, I was paying more attention to Amy's smile than her accent. Of course, I was still listening to her. She is just that captivating! She draws you into whatever she says with such ease and flair! I'm absolutely SMITTEN!!
I find yoo so talented!!
The way you explain the link between emotions and personality and accent, especially the temporal aspect of it, gives me the freaking chills! Hats off to you Amy.
5:00 xD i'm actually crying. "you exist"
that was the best hahaha
The short clip on the 21 accents is amazing. Thanks Amy for the wonderful accent lessons part 1 and 2. I hope to be able to get to your level one day.
Aww, German accents are awesome (: regardless, remember to always love how you speak! To be honest I really want to speak with a lovely German accent
Larissa Schiefer I think it's wonderful to sound like where you came from.
Larissa Schiefer me too but with Brazilian portuguese
Same LOL
Reducing your German accent is just another way of saying improving your American accent (or whatever accent you’re trying to learn).
I admire you, your tips and your effort for making people understand the world of dialect and accent learning. Salutations from a Spaniard!
Just amazing, love this video has to be the best start to learning accent video I could have picked! Thankyou!! X
Thanks Amy ! I was born in France and have lived in Australia and struggled with my accent for 10 years. Never thought of it this way. I love the idea of keeping the character's vibe and accent together! Your vibe is amazing by the way! Thanks again!
Amy you are a genius, to me.
you are a good actress! the way you shift your character and persona whenever you change your accent is just believable.. I'm amazed!
It is not just about your brilliant performance on accents, but also your body language reinforces every single word coming out of your mouth. Do you also teach body language skills?
Yes! Body language is another major part of language, dialect, and sound
Amy, sometimes I just lose you, but I really like you way. You really know what you are doing. thank you, my teacher.
Whoa... I love that 1930s accent.
i like that you cover the vibe because that's the essential thing that a lot of actors lack. that's why you're sooo aware that they're acting.
You said bottle o'. Big props from us aussies!
Wisconsin... Wisconsin... hey, you're right! I do sound the "o" with an "a" sound! I never noticed that before. Thank you! :)
"You exist"
I cackled :D
Great advice. Thank you Amy, you are not only extremely talented but as you said you have done your homework and spent thousands of hours to get to where you are. Thank you for sharing your gifts and fruits of your work with us.
Gosh, you're so beautiful... I like how you speak and your attitude.. I learned a lot on your videos,, thanks really..you made my day.
Don't be creepy
i can only hope i find something that fascinates me as much as this clearly does you. i admire your passion.
This girl's fascinating to me.
This girl is definitely an artist!! I am TOTALLY fascinated by accents. And I'm trying to write a book that has a lot of characters with many different accents. So thank U very very much Amy Walker, UR a tru inspiration. Later days.
You are so lovely. Thanks for this clip
what i love about you is that you really really know your stuff, you're not just saying meaningless crap for the sake of it!
I second the request for a Spanish accent video, but I also want to tell you, you are AMAZING! Thank you very much for taking the trouble to publish. I'm definitely subscribing!

Amy, if at all can you please upload a Spanish accent video. I would greatly appreciate it! :)
very very long time ago i watched this video and i used it to practice my non native english, and now im back with another account lmao, but this video reapeared on my page and i rlly want to thank you bc i've been mistaked as a native speaker and its thank to this and the first part and i rlly it was life changer
Thats great
Aww congratulations, Lilith!! Thank you so much for sharing your journey with me. I’m honored and grateful. Hugs and vibes!!!
3:05 is it a Transatlantic accent?
You're amazing. i've been studying for an english language international exam and was searching for the best accent that would fit me durring the speaking test and bumped into your videos. Keep trying! You're alright.
This fragmentation in 5 steps is so useful, Why don't you post some videos for Indian Speakers.
Learning different accents is your hobby after all.
She's just awsome ! I was captivated the whole two parts !
She could be a damn good teacher.
She should do a trinidadian accent
I'm simply fascinated by the way she says"Fascinating!".
I had trouble figuring out what your legitimate accent was, lol. Extremely talented.
Thanks Amy Walker ...really enjoyed your video on learning accents. I have always wondered about how actors and actresses learn how to do this.
Her mother tongue accent is American. It is the most natural way she speaks. Her explanations are generally in an American accent and she tends to think before taking on other accents. I would say most likely, she is American.
Don't get me started on her mothers' tongue!
According to Wikipedia, she was born in Seattle, WA. She later spent time in Australia and New Zealand.
My favorite is the old radio announcer. I have noticed for some time now that no one speaks like that anymore. Language definitely evolves fairly quickly. Thank you.
"You exist!" :D
this is like a mini masterclass in acting too
thank you!!
Never in my life have I seen such an attractive woman... #DontJudgeMe

Very interesting Amy. I've always been interested in accents, and how they can change people's demeanor depending on the accent, as demonstrated by actors in different roles. Thanks.
Took the words right outta my mouth....or her mouth....or something.
I think it's really good that I cannot tell which our of a few of those accents is your real one! You sound so authentic in each accent that pretty much any of them could be your accent that you use every day in your "normal" life. Great work! Subscribed!
I would love lessons. Amy is an incredible teacher.
I LOVE this!

Makes a lot of sense.
Not only that, you're smart, and beautiful!

I knew you couldn't do so many and omit Brooklyn. It's an intriguing one. Great videos.
Thanks for the tips and pointers, AMY! You rock!
You really are a legend Amy!! Like you say, time as much as place is vital (ok, I paraphrased), I've been good with accents since I was quite young but I have a tape of me and my mum in '78-'79 or so and that is an accent I can't even begin to do, yet I actually spoke that way!!

Thanks for that! I love accents and have since I was little
You have very interesting mannerism. Your expressions, body language and hand gestures are really engaging.
I am fascinated by Amy Walker.
I cannot get over this. Just......can't get over this. Some of the sounds you notice. OH my gosh.
The vibe/attitude tip is so important!
She Fascinates me! I love her accents!
you are such an artistic teacher.
Lady, you're the best! Incredibly informative and fascinating!
You're so good in your accents, singing, acting, I keep putting your videos on repeat. Absolutely amazing!! Marvellous!! Or should I say "Fascinating!!"

come on. Talented and wonderful that's what this Brazilian here is looking for!

Brilliant once again love, very helpful for beginners and the like. Very GOOD advice. Keep them coming.
