So YES...her southern accent is correct..because "someone" in the south sounds like that. Just like me. I moved to Tennessee..only a state above and they told me I had a funny accent.

I've been doing accents since I was in 3rd or 4th grade and people never really stop asking if I'm from another country (I do mainly the accent at the beginning of this vid after american, not gonna say its british because then someone is going to say something about scottish and so forth) and since I don't talk often at school no one's really quite sure of my actual voice. It's fairly satisfying.

    • @user-xv8rw6zx7q

So what are you actually? Scottish? And how you do it? Do you practice daily?

    • @glowstickblood
      @glowstickblood 8 років тому +3

+Billy Chaplin Actually, I'm American. I'm from the midwest. When I first started trying to do accents, it was when I first started watching the Harry Potter movies, and I've done it so much since then that I can usually just slip into (and out of) the accent. Sometimes, though, I end up getting stuck in the accent. That's when it takes my concentration to get back. No, I don't practice daily, but I do occasionally just work on an accent when I feel like it.

I am from CT but when I went to college in PA, I came home asking questions more like a Pennsylvania Dutch student-with a little dash of South Jersey! Right here in the United States alone, up and down the east coast, you could study the melodies for years!

Oddly, when I speak Italian, I find my hands start waving about and my shoulders start shrugging - unconsciously getting into the linguistic groove I suppose :-)
I can't help wondering if you play an instrument - you have a terrrific ear for rhythm and melody!

The melody seemed silly at first, but when I actually listened I could hear plenty of different phrases that matched the melody you did. I want to learn the more stereotypical (rural as well) Canadian accent for humour purposes, but I'd also like to learn more than just that. It seems like something incredibly fun and interesting to be able to switch between accents.

I think I'm in love! You are BEYOND talented. And the way you look into the camera and explain everything...I feel like we are great friends sitting across from each other at a cafe haveing a chat! I "sumbled" upon this video and it was exactly what I needed for the day. I'm off to the mall...gonna try out and accent and judge where I am based on reactions. Love your face!!

Thanks for the labio-dental fricative. It figures great in Estuary English, London. I'm just a fan.

You clearly have a very good ear that lets you hear and pay attention to these minor, faint differences in pronunciation. This is a basic skill that is allowing you to futher imitate accents you want, if your vocal tract is capable to do so.

When she goes into the English accent, she is so good and convincing, anyone would think she is English. Also, for a person who speaks no English, they probably couldn't tell an English person from an American.

Great video... what she says makes so much sense... I speak 3 languages and they all have those rythems, stress, vowel differences...etc.....

I'm trying to get british, scottish, and irish accents down, and this is really helpful! I'm in love with the rythm of words, and if I can get that down, I feel like the rest will be easier.

This is so cool. I love to learn accents and languages. I can only do an English accent right now... But I know English(obviously) and French and I can have basic Japanese conversations and I know some basic greetings in 3 other languages. I'm going to be taking two language classes next year. Spanish and Mandarin.

You're brilliant! You've made me waste way too much time going through work when I should be doing my own. Your face is an amazing canvas for your work. You've the most expressive teeth, eyebrows, and lips I think I've seen. Best wishes!

Those were some of the best British accents I've ever heard an American do. It was a pleasure to hear. I'm British and some audiobook narrators make me cringe when they get to a British character, because their accents are often just SO bad. But I wouldn't have been able to tell that Amy was not British.
    Amazing. :)
