The old-fashioned style theater entry way reminded me of the theaters I saw on movies and TV and in my dreams. All the glitter, glitz and the singing left me in shock and THe Wizard Of Oz "surprise" at the end of the ride left me practically in tears as I sung "Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead" with the Munchkins and even more so when I saw Elphaba, Dorothy and her friends before the Emerald City. Back then, I had no idea that MGM was part of Disney.
@diegoddogman there are absolutely NO drops on this ride. I've been on this ride once. It was great! You just get to tour around in a car, looking at old time classics. It's relaxing and fun at the same time. I really enjoyed it.
Man, the alien part of this ride is scary. I totally forgot about the part where the crook hijacks the tour. Shows you how long it has been since I've been to Disney.
When the guy was like "you talkin to me" and pulled out the gun, I was horrified...lol I forgot they were acting for a second. And the alien...don't even get me started. Haha.
@lordgonchar yea this ride has such a long track car, like 50 feet or more, but it is so much better in the front cause you are the first to see the alien pop out of the ceiling, and your close to where the wicked witch comes out. awesome ride i always loved this one, rode it for the first time in 93' when i was 7. the alien part scared the shit out of me lol.
I went on this when I was 5 or 6 and this ride was mad fun. I was in the front when the mobster takes over the ride and was like what are u lookin at and I was scared as shit.
whoa i remember this one time when the bank robbing scene scared the crap out of this one little kid. his mother was trying to calm him down. the ride went into Alien and the mother said "look it's okay. we're in Star Wars now. it's fine." you can imagine how badly he was screaming after that lmao poor kid
OOOOH I just noticed the tune that plays in the first ten seconds... Next time I get on this ride, I'm singing "HOORAY FOR HILLYWOOD!!" because its the same tune as that song... In fact, I guess it's a parody of it. xD
does the alien still come down from the roof pannel? I was last here in 2010, and in years before then, and always remember an upside-down alien coming down from the roof. It may have been taken out..
This ride can get so confusing when you're not sitting near the front. You'll be looking at one thing, and the cast member will already be talking about the next movie.
No, it wasn't taken out. I've been keeping up on park updates for this year. Alien was only cleaned up and updated a bit. That was the only change... And other than the Alien bit, I don't see how anyone, especially someone possibly older than me sees how this is a scary ride... I started going on this ride when I was only 9 years old, too. I only covered my eyes during Alien and the rest of the time, I was totally awestruck like a five year old who has just met Santa Claus.
They really should start with a more known 1930's movie. Honestly who has heard of Footlight Parade anymore? Don't get me wrong i love this ride, ever since i was a kid but I think SOME sections could be changed.
the first time i went on this ride i was 4 and i really thought that actor guy wasnt supposed 2 be on the ride i was shaking and ducking during the shooting thing plus when i was in the front so when he came on i was the one he ask "what r u looking at" :) i looked strait and had my eyes wide plus during the ailen one i was ducking into my aunt but i wasnt really scared i
@sammalyncp "For the safety of our cast, we ask that you refrain from the use of flash photography and external video lighting. Thank You." - Having been a tour guide on this ride, I said this quite frequently.
How are some parts scary? The only frightening part to me is Alien... I always cover my eyes during that bit and turn away. And I can't believe that every time I've been on this ride and every time I watch it, no one has EVER answered him when he asks if anyone knows Mary Poppins! D=< You know, every time I've been on it, I ALWAYS answer the tour guide at that part! When I was smaller, I nearly stood up a little bit and I shouted to our guide "MARY POPPINS!" and everyone just remained silent...
Does anyone else remember how BAD it smelled in the alien section of the ride? god i use to hate that smell, and it was there EVERY time i went on this ride, no matter what year lol

This makes me want to go back to Disney World so much! This is one of my favourites.
What an amazing ride. I went on it around 1996 or 97. Hope I have the chance to go back someday.
Last week I screamed at the part with the aliens. It sounded so funny that even the actress had to laugh. I love this ride so much:D.

When I was little I thought this ride was kinda scary in some parts of this ride when it got really dark! Spooky!

it is my lifetime dream to work on this ride. i am sure i am not alone.

lol the alien part scared the pee out of me, i was almost crying and i was holding onto one of my friends, lol and i was fifteen how sad is that
@sammalyncp There was no announcement and no one seemed to care that I was recording.
does the alien still come down from the roof pannel? I was last here in 2010, and in years before then, and always remember an upside-down alien coming down from the roof. It may have been taken out..
could anyone tell me what's the name of the music in the beggining of the ride?
Sooo it's kinda like Pirates of the Carabean but with movies?
I love how every second comment is about the alien section XD
@bellaella16 Because you're allowed to videotape on this ride.

What happened to you there?
@spacepolic29 ya i know when i went on this i was like what is dripping on me and i looked up and screamed
@LOZfan101 i scare easily from things jumping out at me quickly so i ducked down during that part....i felt like an idiot cuz they didnt
@bellaella16 Disney doesn't care. That's free advertising for them.
@ElizaShakiraMassani Because that's where I got stuck sitting. lol
The scary parts scared me to death when I was 6... I went back last year to discover that I am still scared. Sadlife.... I'm 15.
