Cannot believe they're closing this for some Frozen BS. The Maelstrom is a classic. "You are not the first to pass this way, nor shall you be the last."
@@barbarakaklias4070 you both are lucky you actually got to see Maelstrom in person. I was only able to see Frozen Ever After when I first went to Walt Disney World, or Florida in general. I wish they had rides at more of the World Showcase pavilions than just Mexico and Norway, though.
I love this ride! My family and I have been to Disney World a lot and this is one of my favorite. It's educational, fun and it gets you out of the Florida heat! Yes, there are long lines for it, but darn well worth it.
I remember doing the Kim Possible thing in Norway and China in Epcot. It was so fun! My mom went on this ride without me since i hate animatronics and i was too busy doing the KP mission. Anyway i don't care if your a kid or not, do the KP thing whenever you go to Epcot. In Norway the mission is really cool because you interact and can do things like SPOILER make a statue talk!
Ride is short...but cool. And all the staff are very friendly (as most people in Norway are) they are more than willing to talk about there home country.
This is probably the shortest ride they have. I've always liked it though. Never could figure out what that giant lady doctor was doing in that mural painting you see while waiting in line.
I love this ride. as a kid when I went to epcot we did future world first then world showcase at night to be there by illuminations. All day I'd look forward to this ride (although I had other favorites) It gave me something epic to look forward too later on. I remember eating Mickey pizza in that place by innovations and pretending to be a viking about to go on a quest (with my plastic viking helmet lol) my long blond hair helped that illusion haha
This was, besides Soarin' , the best ride in Epcot for me. I love how at the waterfall you can hear the people in the back go UH OH UH OH and the people in the front are like What and then you turn and are like Ohhh NoW I See. I remember sitting in the very back and I was 9 and just like OH GOD I CANT dO THIS! I was relieved when we turned around :)
When this ride first opened to the public, the last scene when you go down the waterfall into the North Sea was a bit different. Originally, the ride attendants had to hand out plastic ponchos at the beginning because the North Sea part had wind machines and waves crashing over the riders getting them drenched. Then, they had to collect the ponchos at the end and it was a pain in the neck for everyone. Now, the end scene is much tamer.
what is the name of the song that plays when he says norways spirit still thunders right before that troll comes out of the dirt and sends you forward into the oil rig? I've been wondering this my whole life but without the ability to write music I can never figure it out
how come there was a 5 minute showing of the polar bear at the end? i'ts a really good film tho.. I was actually working on that ride when this video was shot!! I miss it so much!
I found Maelstrom very entertaining. They're very few attractions @ WDW that I dislike (probably only Stitch's Great Escape and Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey).
idk if its my PC or this video but everytime i try to watch it, it skips REALLY bad!! I want to watch this one more then the other cuz it's in it's entirty. *sigh* oh well.
I think I didn't get to fully enjoy this ride when I went on it because my soul died after the 90-minute wait. D: It's a great ride, though! Does anyone know when to go to WDW when it WON'T be crowded? The crowded times are so different from Disneyland...
The norwegian pavillion is one of the best at ecpot ( including japan and china :D ) im from norway myself, but one think i don't like is how the maelstrom ride is so much different from norway, until the end when you drive forwards again :P
my sister whos 12 used to hate this ride because of the three trolls!! and when they say disapear disapear she actually throught that we all disapeared!!! XD now she loves this ride :L
OMG i went on this yesterday and when it went backwards I was shouting "OH GOD" repeatedly and then on the second drop I was like "NOT AGAAAAAAAAAAAAIN!" Scared me half to death, but I'm not much of a ride-seeker :P lol
@hollowpoint45acp I know-- it's so annoying when people won't shut up. You never know if it is someone's first time riding, or if they consider it a special ride.
By far the cheesiest ride (unintentionally so, anyway. The Coney Island-esque rides at the Animal Kingdom may supercede it) in Disney World, but that's why I love it! Did you see the mural at the beginning? It looks like it should be on the side of a haunted house in a traveling carnival lol Plus, the ride is pretty much a tiny version of 'Pirates of Caribbean' with vaguely Norweigan things inserted--cruise ships, vikings, and if, memory serves, blocks of cheese lol So terrible! So good!
No, but like all the children in the start and people bulding boats xD that was when the vikings lived about 900-700 years ago :P There is a lot of nature in Norway though xD
I've loved this ride since I was a kid. Most fun ride at Epcot in my opinion.
Cannot believe they're closing this for some Frozen BS. The Maelstrom is a classic. "You are not the first to pass this way, nor shall you be the last."
+Matthew Hogan I heard about the Maelstrom and I heard that it was closed down. Frozen was cool but now it's annoying.

I love the Norway area in Epcot. The small museum with the viking stuff, the shop, Maelstrom! Can't wait to go back early 2012! Thanks for the vid. :)
The best short film at Disney World. Don't miss it!
I love this ride! My family and I have been to Disney World a lot and this is one of my favorite. It's educational, fun and it gets you out of the Florida heat! Yes, there are long lines for it, but darn well worth it.
The best part was that bear at the end.
I SAW THIS THEN I LOOKED AT THE REST OF YOUR VIDEOS. oh man ima stay up all night wathcing these
Thank you for putting this on youtube. I hate it is gone... Frozen belongs in the Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios.
A very bad idea!
I've applied to work at the Norway Pavillion and hopefully will be working from february next year!
Greetings from Norway. It looks like fun :D
Great job with this. I love this ride...
Just got back form Epcot!! Norway had a great boat ride...Well worth doing!
I loved this ride it was really cool. Bit of a history lesson as well
"You are not the first to pass this way, nor shall you be the last". Whoever rides it Oct. 5th will be the last
LOL I hope they change the line for that one rider.
oh man, this looks really good
I had no idea this ride was even here, or what it was all about, and when it started going backwards I had a freakout. It scared the shit out of me.
I have been to WDW 5 times since I was born... but it wasn't until my most recent trip a few months back that I finally went on this ride
oooh I hope you have an amazing time ^_^ its the best holiday iv ever been on
Ah, I miss working there. It was a lot of fun!
I LOOOOVE this ride!!
I remember doing the Kim Possible thing in Norway and China in Epcot. It was so fun! My mom went on this ride without me since i hate animatronics and i was too busy doing the KP mission. I hear the voice, and all I think of is Skyrim. Lol
luv this ride!!
I've always liked how cold it is in that ride. Very nice on a hot day.
great quality
It sure is. One of the best! :)
This is probably the shortest ride they have. I've always liked it though. Never could figure out what that giant lady doctor was doing in that mural painting you see while waiting in line.
Hey guys there adding a frozen ride at disneyland 2016 I think I CANT WAIT
I love this ride. as a kid when I went to epcot we did future world first then world showcase at night to be there by illuminations. All day I'd look forward to this ride (although I had other favorites) It gave me something epic to look forward too later on. I remember eating Mickey pizza in that place by innovations and pretending to be a viking about to go on a quest (with my plastic viking helmet lol) my long blond hair helped that illusion haha
For reasons I can't fathom, this was my favourite ride at WDW when i was 3...
rides sweet! as long as you dont have to wait for it. me and my sis and bro rode this like at least 5 times in a row before illuminations
its like 25 feet. ive been on this ride well over 100 times i love it because the line is always short
This was, besides Soarin' , the best ride in Epcot for me. I love how at the waterfall you can hear the people in the back go UH OH UH OH and the people in the front are like What and then you turn and are like Ohhh NoW I See. i have heard of this and that its amazing
I've never even known about this ride!
Now Norway's spirit will always be visiting a castle only to get thrown out for no reason
I worked in Canada and we had an awesome movie hahaha we want a ride too lol
do they still sell them troll figures in the gift shop? i always loved them as a kid.
What can you buy at the gift shop? Any norwegian food? I miss it so much

is that the way it is now--with people talking through the whole ride?
what is the name of the song that plays when he says norways spirit still thunders right before that troll comes out of the dirt and sends you forward into the oil rig? I've been wondering this my whole life but without the ability to write music I can never figure it out
We went on this and my brother and I were saying "GO BACK OVER THE BARGE!" XD It was hilarious.
WOW you help me alot with my fears O_Oso ty!!!!
@Lilgonzo23 Epcot's World Showcase in Walt Disney World Florida
last time i was at epcot there was a very long line for this ride.
Oh, I forgot about Test Track AND Mission Space. Okay this was my 4th fave. :)
the waterfall doesnt look that deep. could someone tell me if its dep enough because i wanna have fun on this ride!
how come there was a 5 minute showing of the polar bear at the end?
i'ts a really good film tho.. I was actually working on that ride when this video was shot!! I miss it so much!
@9kelly9 I know it's not. That's the point. The title says it's HD.
I like this ride a lot... its waaay better than the one in mexico... however... the best part IMO is when unloading area i love it!
I found Maelstrom very entertaining. They're very few attractions @ WDW that I dislike (probably only Stitch's Great Escape and Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey).
cool!
i like this ride and the one at mexico
@sunocox Thanks :)
The Drop Is Nothing But I Still Love This Ride. TIP: Skip The Movie.
Is it a water coaster or just a water ride?
oh, and for the record, there are towns that look like the end fo the ride. my BF lives in one.
idk if its my PC or this video but everytime i try to watch it, it skips REALLY bad!! I want to watch this one more then the other cuz it's in it's entirty. *sigh* oh well.
my favourite part of epcot (minus spaceship earth) was the germany section
is it fast?
I think I didn't get to fully enjoy this ride when I went on it because my soul died after the 90-minute wait. D: It's a great ride, though! Does anyone know when to go to WDW when it WON'T be crowded? The crowded times are so different from Disneyland...
Scarred for life by that troll stump with the eyes
i went on this ride by myself cuz no one cared about it enough. the only person in one whole boat. it was freaking scary
Aww I love this! :) I work at Maelstrom. It's an awesome ride, eyh? ^^,
wot about test track thts like the best in the world nt mine but it owns
Wow, I didn't know Exit signs were a natural part of the Norwegian cliffs, lol!
@MitchellReddSnow just read that part last night
How is this HD?
exactly.
What is this ride about? I couldnt ride it cause i was doing the kim possible thing
The norwegian pavillion is one of the best at ecpot ( including japan and china :D ) im from norway myself, but one think i don't like is how the maelstrom ride is so much different from norway, until the end when you drive forwards again :P
You should give it a try. It's a nice film and its very short. I just wish Disney would update it and take away the early 90s feel it has. lol
my sister whos 12 used to hate this ride because of the three trolls!! and when they say disapear disapear she actually throught that we all disapeared!!! XD now she loves this ride :L
After I went on this ride was when I stopped telling people I was Norweigan.
did you get accepted :P
@jambalolk me to=D got the job from may 1st=)
it looks like a museum from the outside xD
Awesome polar bear.
Good luck sunocox! Let us know if you get it!
The sequence of this ride was so confusing. When I got off, I felt as if I just tripped on acid. Random polar bears? Then an oil rig? like what?
id work there for nothing i love it so much.
OMG i went on this yesterday and when it went backwards I was shouting "OH GOD" repeatedly and then on the second drop I was like "NOT AGAAAAAAAAAAAAIN!" Scared me half to death, but I'm not much of a ride-seeker :P lol
YOU WENT IN JUNE !!!!!!!!!!!
i like haunted mansion one too
@hollowpoint45acp I know-- it's so annoying when people won't shut up. You never know if it is someone's first time riding, or if they consider it a special ride.

Oh right :P
this is a fun little ride i skip the movie though, ive seen it a bajillion times.
Norway, Always Big, Always Adventure! lol
No, but like all the children in the start and people bulding boats xD that was when the vikings lived about 900-700 years ago :P There is a lot of nature in Norway though xD
best part about epcots norway are the Norwegian girls!
Lol omg my sister and I were just talking about this ride. We hated it! XD.
The P is prototype actually.
LOL,
we went on with my little cousin thinking it wus 4 kids and when the ride was finished i think she got traumatised of coasterz!!!!
Best ride ever. I love Norway. Thank God it wasn't raped by Disney Characters. I love the film afterwards. Even if Disney is too lazy to update it.
It's not boring, you're mind is just weak.
RIP :(
Okay, what's with the contruction workers then?
This ride needs a refurb badly, new audio, effects and animatronics might be a good start, extending the ride would be even better.
