    Now that its been 3 years how has it handled the heat? Have you had to replace it?

    Just did this on mine today. Still a little engine noise in the cabin at idle but definitely improved

    I get the ticking but curious about the thunking , hear it louder bending below the drivers door . Could it be a idler pulley ? Thanks PS: your doing a great job !!

    If you want to go one step further sound deaden the doors and floor it really quiets the interior! I can't hear the engine hardly at all it's pretty amazing. I may do the hood like you've done.

      I’ve done that as well. It is pretty quiet. The rear under the window made the biggest difference.

      when you say you've also Denaden the rear underneath the window are you talking about the rear tailgate in the storage compartment area? Not trying to spend too much money and would like to reduce the noise a little bit more in general

    This clickbait title implies that the video is about a mechanical fix for valve/lifter ticking etc. and instead it's just hocking a product on Amazon. A more accurate title would be something like "How to soundproof your Tacoma hood etc." When you mention ticking, it implies a specific mechanical issue, especially considering that the Tacomas have known lifter ticking issues etc.

      No, I'm just hoping to see it become less of a garbage dump with videos like yours. It's a shame that youtube doesn't demonitize for clickbait.
      So you are basically admitting that you are straight up lying because "it's youtube" lol? I wonder how that strategy is going to work for you in the long term?
      There are plenty of channels with millions of views that don't resort to lame clickbait like you. But I guess they are amateurs and it's their first time on youtube lol.

    This is a very reasonable way to improve the sound deadening without mechanical work for sure. My SR unfortunately didn’t come with ANY hood padding so I’m wondering if I should get the OEM padding too to get the same results. Any thoughts?

    • @TimStrange
      @TimStrange  3 роки тому +1

      This isn’t OEM sound padding, but it works great.

    New taco owner of a 18 tacoma here. Ive always thought in general the ticking in engines is bad. So I bought a used 18 taco and heard this. I dont mind the noise level but you are saying that this is normal? Nothing wrong with the engine/valves/etc?

    A ticking noise isn't good. It's either an advance timing issue, exhaust manifold leak or lifters. A hemi tick is from the Cam shaft lobe being warped. So it's not normally for any engine to tick.

    I have the same observation the ticking sound was like a diesel. I’ve switch to higher octane 92 or 93 the ticking was gone. I know it’s a little bit more on money but I think it’s better for the engine in the long run.

    • @TimStrange
      @TimStrange  2 роки тому

      Octane doesn’t have anything to do with it. Using top tier fuel may make the injectors do their self cleaning cycle less often, but octane is just resistance to knock.

    • @TimStrange
      @TimStrange  3 роки тому +1

      4Runner doesn’t have the same engine as the Tacoma currently. Although the 4.0 does tick and it’s completely normal, it’s not direct injection since those engines are port injection only.

    Love the idea, but I hate the thought of using adhesive backing direct to paint on the hood of my truck. And what if the foam material breaks down overtime and falls apart, leaving a mess behind on the hood and in the engine bay? I’m asking, will you make a long term review on its durability?

    • @TimStrange
      @TimStrange  3 роки тому +2

      If I still have the truck, then sure. This material is designed for this purpose, so I highly doubt it would do what you’re describing. I’m sure there are other reviews about it’s long term durability.

    • @TimStrange

      Not at all. It’s designed to resist engine temps. Depending on where you live, you may notice that snow doesn’t melt on the hood though. I noticed that condensation didn’t go away while driving like it used to.
