Thank you for pointing out the "dimple" mark on the end of the gear shaft. I installed forward controls on my bike and didn't pay attention to the position of the arm that goes on there. I have been trying to get this going all week. I knew there had to be a secret.
This was really helpful! I got started replacing my shift lever on my CB300F and had to stop short when I realized I didn't have any grease. This was a useful video to see how and what I need to lube to get things going. Thanks!
My zr7 is being weird when shifting and I'm hoping I just have to clean and re-lube the linkage. Perfect video showing and explaining everything without becoming long or going on tirades
From Honda service manual that has exactly the same system (I guess all or most of Japanese): Torque for that bolt at 12:05 is 20 Nm (14 lbf ft). It felt quite a lot..
Although it would seem easiest to just remove the bolt and re-position the splined arm, The dot and the slot Must align, or the leverage to change gears will be severely increased, Adjust Only via the rod.
I'm not sure I'm misunderstanding your comment, but the purpose of the splines is for adjustment for the individual rider, different people need the pedal a bit higher or lower than factory fitment.
@@theoverengineer oh okay I used bit of alcohol on tissue n cleaned it down then pushed it back onto my shifter I painted it to lime green.. I had done the rear sub frame rear sets too in lime green but fucked them up trying to do outer area in black the wrong way using cotton swabs bcuz I ran out of black from can lol I have to re sand them n do em all over again 😅
Hi, I ride a mash 50cc wich has the same shift mechanism and today i crashed with it in a field. Nothing is broken so far but the shifter on the peg is higher then normal. Could i fix this by adjusting it? Edit: yes it worked thank you!
Sir, this was one of the most straight forward and helpful videos I've ever seen. Thank you for your time.

Switch to Motul 7100 oil and you'll see MAGICAL new shifting and clutch disengagement. I couldn't even get my bikes to shift good with Mobil 4T oil.
Great video! Your instructions were detailed and very useful. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, I'm replacing my lever after it was bent when I dropped my bike, thinking my kickstand was down. This helped.
Glad it helped!
That's how you make a video superb! many thanks!
This was very helpful, thank you! You have a great way of explaining.
Great explanation 👌
Thanks I like videos that explain what's going on rather than poor editing and shitty music thank you hopefully I can fix my honda cbr today

Thanks for the note!
Good job! Great information!!
Can you use normal chain lube for your lubricating oil on this part?
Great video, subbed.
This was amazing thank you
Sir were can I buy the 0:56 bolt please reply me sir , I have lost that bolt while riding I'm not able to find in automobile stores
Of course, it's a motorcycle part. Get one made by a first year apprentice machinist on a lathe in 3 minutes.
hello, my shifter has some rust spots, will the lacquer thinner remove that or should I use CRC evapo rust remover? do I need to use both?
Anything you have at hand and works works, no need for spending money. Polishing paste, wire brush, 2000 grit sandpaper, anything.
@@theoverengineer thank you for responding and very useful video!

How did you get the boots back on the ball joints?
Place them on the rod first, then push, pull, turn over the ball joint housing.
bro wats the name and size of that Alen key bolt hit me back asap on the shift lever bolt
You're the man! This SAVED me today! Out of curiosity are you greek or Austrian?
- grew up in 6 countries, that's 2 of them ...
theoverengineer nice bro! I’m super into languages and cultures eight by the way I think I totally jacked up my fucking shifter today bro

The dot and the slot Must align, or the leverage to change gears will be severely increased,
Adjust Only via the rod.
Good point, thanks for watching!

Autosol is perfect for cleaning stainless steel 👍🏻👏🏼
(Mostly aluminum castings and mild steel parts here)
Great advice thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
So how did you clean the black rubber piece that seats on the shifter there ?
That didn't need much cleaning, just hand-rubbed

Might. You can also try to straighten the bent shifter like this ua-cam.com/video/aT0tIyACq1c/v-deo.html
Great video! Thank you :)
Did you apply the thread lock directly on to the threads then insert it?
Yup, then spread it around, then put in & tighten. Works since.
Awesome video!!!
Very thorough thankyou
Great video thanks!
I cleaned mine in same manner but then primered it skipped sanding an painted over primer lol
