@16:45 he said the car has six gears LOL technically he is right if you include the "reverse" as a gear... Only type s and type r has six gears and base models are all five gears
I also have a 2006 Base RSX lol. Got it as my first car when I was 16, I'm almost 20 now! 7800$ for 80k miles and was in great condition, it was my dream first car and I couldn't be happier to have it. Trying to save money to get some modifications on it, but your car is beautiful too man! I think I'm going to look into a sub like yours. Great video.
That blue really looks nice. I have a base.. but I've been modding it to make it a street comfortable car while being able to outperform a Type R model. :-)
If you want a new car, that car is a good trade. That car is pretty good for a 2006. Putting in the LED tap lights was a good idea. You also have a sunroof and leather seats.
Wow, 38 mpg! I have a 5 speed manual RSX which should be the best mpg version, and the best mileage I've ever gotten is 33 mpg. I usually get between 28 and 24 mpg. Your leather seats look a lot better than mine, even though I Lexol my leather religiously. Thanks for the tip about the trunk leak, I had water in my spare tire well, but it rains so rarely in Southern California, it's not really a problem.
Right on man. Just got the same exact one but in red. Same deal super babied, bone stock. Exactly what i was looking for. Having it delivered in 2 days. Im super excited and can hardly wait.
Hey Mike, Im wanting a fun daily that gets better gas mileage than my ridgeline. Im going to look at a 2006 rsx base 1 owner 114k miles and theyre asking $6799. What do you think?
At that price it should be in good condition with a new catalytic converter installed recently. Great car. Very solid reliability. Check for signs of water inside the spare tire compartment. Check for faded clear coat on top and hood. Make sure you get the RPMs above 4500 to test the VTec during a test drive.
Just another car to add to the list lol P.S. I can find these dirt cheap in FL like this one under $8,000 not bad for a fun car that is a coupe & sunroof.
Very very nice. I do like the i-vtec sticker that you put on the front grill. Looks like you got a good deal on this one. I won't tell you that I bought an '05 Type-S in pearl white about three weeks ago. LOL. Love your car though. Please update us. How many miles were on it in this video? How many miles are on it now? Do you still have it?
Hey Mike, I would like to say thank you for posting this video. This is the ONLY video review for a BASE RSX I have yet to find here on UA-cam or anywhere. The Base RSX gets overshadowed by the Type-S and people need to realize the base car is still a great car. I own a car almost identical to yours except I have the Type-R wing and mines an automatic. Keep up the great work buddy. By the way, I too live in NC and work for a Chrysler dealership. haha.
I got the same car, had it for 4yrs. Got 98k miles on it so far. It goes through headlight bulbs like every 6 months but beside that haven't had to buy any replacement parts yet!
of it's a manual sometimes the 3rd gear won't go in all the way it's a little tricky. it happens on my 05 type s. just shift perfectly and it won't happen you'll get a feel for it lol other than that rsx rides like a dream
Such a small world, found your channel through Maxxtrucks and I live around the Raleigh area! Love your RSX too! I've got an 09 Civic EX-L and have grown to love revving out my little 1.8.
they are both automatic base models. the body styles are changed. my wife drives the 2002 and I drive the 2006. to me the 2002 feels and drives more sporty. its very quick and feels like a little sports car with great gas milage. We switched her car from z rated tires to michelin defender tires to soften the ride and that worked out well. The 2006 which is my car, to me feels slower less torque drives more like a luxury car. its more refined. both cars handle turns well but the 2006 feels bigger a little more sluggish. based on the two that we own I prefer to drive the 2002 my wife's car. I hate the 2006 tail lights and much prefer the looks of the 2002. Both our cars have aftermarket halo hid headlights off ebay 6000k bulbs. hers are tinted mine are not. they are both awesome looking. from the interior they are both exactly the same. we even got the same stereo's. with regular maintenance we have had no issues the engine or drive. we did have to replace the air conditioner something in her car and cost a grand but other than that no problems.
MikesCarInfo Country? You mean in all 50 states or just the state you got the car register?I'm asking cause I have feeling my car won't pass inspection here in P.A..It has a pretty big crack on the window
I know this is an old video but, The base version w/leather seats only came with an auto transmission right ? Plus the base only came in a 5 speed, Type S only came with a 6 speed. So this car is really confusing me... lol If the interior was swapped, maybe the airbag light is on because the wiring didn't get hooked up properly in the seat ?
@@autoaiden1794 not really I wasn't even looking for one I seen it at a lot and check it out and drove it and I was like yeah think ill pull the trigger and bought it lol but I sold it awhile back
how much did it cost to swap out the radio? Also does it have the ability to play music through your phone or personal device via bluetooth? Does it have an aux cord or how does that work.
Funny to see this video. I have a 2002 Acura RSX S-Type, manual transmission, and love it. I bought it new and it now has about 155k miles, It's literally the only car I've owned that I might be a little emotional over when I have to let it go (and I just sold a 2011 Nissan 370Z - which I also bought new). The RSX S-Type is quick, has great visibility for a daily driver, handles well in the snow, reliable. I wish they still made it, I'd buy another. I did just order a 2016 BMW 435i xDrive, but even after it gets here I think I'll still keep my Acura around for awhile until I decide the best way to let her go. :) Great car.
Russian5 I agree! I wish I could buy a new one just like it! I am lucky to have the opportunity to check out a bunch of awesome cars every day but I am glad to drive this car every day!
Acura really needs to bring the RSX back!! I don't know why they discounted it, it was a really nice car!! Acura needs more coupes, please bring the Acura RSX coupe back!
I would also buy an Acura RSX coupe if they still made it as well! I love this car, it was so nice looking & wasn't all over the top expensive like my new Audi is! Please Acura, bring back the RSX coupe!!
Hey mike! Did you have any issues with the taillights or have to make any repairs to the gaskets or assembly to prevent any additional water from getting into the taillights or trunk?
Hey Mike! thank's a lot for the video , this week i will probably buy an 2005 acura rsx and your video help me a lot to take my decision , but i have a question for you , what's the reference of your subwoofer? My current language is French so i didn't understand when you named it :)! ps : sorry for my english fault , ive tried my best to write this comment haha :)!
Mr MaDaX18 He said it was a JL Audio pro wedge which was pricey and sounds like 2 subs. I have two JL audio subs, a cheap one and an expensive one. Buy the expensive one, you get what you pay for. specifically the W7 subs.
+MikesCarInfo Would you recommend it as a first car? I'm 22, i've drove my families vehicles since 16. But i'm looking to buy my first car from a dealership used, i'd have a payment monthly, same model as yours for the most part.
Dude it's Japanese, of course the climate controls are backlit! Your ambient bulbs for for fan speed, temperatures, and vent settings are burnt. And probably also the bulbs for recirc, a/c, and defrost icons. Easy fix :)
i have a 2003 base RSX. about 3 years ago the oxygen and knock sensors went out, so the check engine light is always on. i get about the same MPG as before, so i haven't bothered to replace the sensors. plus it's a several hundred dollar job. mechanically it's a solid car, 190K so far. my enviro dials are/were backlit; one of them kind of died out last year. not sure how much trouble it would be to get in there and replace it.
Out of all the cars posted on your channel, this is the one I like the most.
Awesome video ✨

in your dreams
LlLnig Well looks like dreams are coming true because it can already out handle a Type R. You have anything else to add?
Jujutsuheiho keep telling yourself that buddy
LlLnig I don't have to keep telling myself that. All I gotta do is just go outside and drive it. Bam... constant reminder
Jujutsuheiho just aim higher, tell yourself youre driving a ferrari instead.

I have an 06 rsx non type s the seats are all torn up and 235k miles still fun to drive though
I'm looking at a 2006 RSX now. 89k miles, one owner, clean Carfax, no wrecks. Base model with automatic. $4,550.

In fact, the 02-05 Civic SI has the same engine as the base RSX

The 02’ RSX was my first new car. Great vehicle, I put 250,000 miles(the distance to the moon) on it before I sold it for my 2016 Fiesta ST.
I was thinking of getting a base 2005 or 2004 or 2003 Acura rsx for a first car I'm a teen what do you think
How old are u Im sort off thinking the same thing
I wish I had one when I was a teenager.
manny lopez I'm a teen
Do these cars last or have any problems? (common ones of course)

I had water issues with the right head light whenever it rained.

Did you ever find out at why the airbag light went off?

I notice you have a Air bag light on.Is that a problem when you get the car inspected? Can the car pass inspection with the light on?
It passes inspection in this county.

What's the base gasoline type regular or premium?
It seems to run better on premium for me.
I just bought thus car, how do you check the MPG, miles left etc for the car?
cool car
38 mpg? Really?
+bodhifyer Yes, I get around 33 average. I use premium 93 gas.
+MikesCarInfo I thought the recommended gas for the base model regular 87?
+bodhifyer It is, but I get better performance and gas mileage with 93.
+MikesCarInfo thank you, im looking into this car for myself & this is great information to know

If you are referring to the car then no... I am in it now :)

How much did it cost you when you bought it?
$8500
+MikesCarInfo someone is offering me theirs for 5000 and it has 90k miles on it do you think its a good buy?
Not bad if it has been taken care of and not been in an accident.
Thought a guy who reviewed brand new cars would surely drive a brand new car, but thats a sweet ride!
I don't make enough money to buy a new car. Maybe one day.
does it have paddle shifting.?

Very nice coupe! How much money do you think is worth a 100k mile from the same year? Would love to buy one.
$5,500 for a base, auto, 136,000 mi a good deal?
Not bad if it has been taken care of and not been in an accident.
... and make sure the transmission has been serviced regularly.
A 6 speed trans huh even though it’s clearly a 5 speed.
