Not bad. Here in Canada in 2020 I got a daily 2005 Type-S with about 130,000 kms or about 80,000 original miles for $1650. Pros are it had a newer clutch, tires and brakes. AC runs quite cold, no CEL. I Body is rust free with just dings and a dime sized dent. took off the stock cat, sold it for $800 and put on an aftermarket cat for $150 shipped. The cons were the speakers and heated seats didn't work but that was just a dirty connection. All power stuff works. Had to do the spark plugs but runs and shifts like new. Some of the paint sucks and has a rebuild title. I also sold some extra wheels I go with it for $370. I think I got a really good deal. My other one is a 2002 Greddy turbo Type-S
I just bought the same care last year in July, same color base model. Fixing it up for my son. Wish I has the cloth seats like yours though. I have the black leather and they have some wear tear on driver and back seat. Getting those replaced is not cheap. Look forward to seeing they progress and following along. It's a great daily driver.
Always risky buying old cars like from sellers who rice them out. Chances are they use and abuse them and aren't going to be honest with you on things.
yeah i jacked the car up, turned it on and flet for any wind force coming from all along the exhaust and the flange was bent a little but new gasket and some maker around the edges after torquing sealed shit right off. had o2 sensor code cataylst efficiency code for almost a year and didnt know what it was lol. tiny leak
Welcome to 20 year old cars my friend, When I got mine I had broken passenger side suspension the trunk would not open windows would not open and coolant line burst when I went to drive it lol glove box latch broke, I also have a rusted shut exhaust manifold, I had to replace the window seals $200 from Japan I also had to re paint the trunk and roof because of damaged clear coat and faded paint. I think the guy before me had no clue what the hell he was doing and it also ran like shit for months because it must of been sitting for years. ( I did 95% of the repairs myself)
Eh you're good bro, I used to have a base model rsx auto with a bad cat. Literally go to the junk yard to get that ac compressor, there's sooo many base models in the junk yard.
Bought a k24/20 swapped type s a month ago. Body beat like most, interior ripped to hell. Found out it’s missing the sway bar due to alpha headers, stereo harness wires was cut and the windshield wiper spray system wasn’t reinstalled after the swap. Yea sucks but oh well it was a cheap and a definitely a project. You weren’t scammed, you bought a $2600 used car. Bottom line don’t stress the small stuff, build it and enjoy it.
Nah you didn’t get scammed you get what you paid for ganna have issues like this being how old it is and it’s Honda lol was wondering how you got it cheap then saw it was a base model automatic so makes sense 😂
I just got a rsx a month ago my a/c work but the power steering line bust, interior door line was cracked, stock suspension in the front and coilover worked to the rear end and the eBay exhaust was hanging very low and had one bolt to cat converter. Broken window shield wiper motor. The injection switch not releasing the key 🔑 when I turn off the car. A/c light fade, headlights was not installed properly miss bolts here and front bumper missing driver side. Hood got hood pin hole in it and no pin or no pin latch installed on it. Of course the hood fade. I think it need a tuneup I install blue coil pack on it and it woke the car up and rust just every where. But I still wanted to car anyway I think I got scammed for it lol but I don’t know everyone with 250k miles near me wanted 5,000 for it
@@jessejzRsx having a car like a rsx is going to need some money. That’s the car life just a huge money pit but isn’t at the same time if it’s something your an enthusiast about
Good deal. It was made in Japan so it is top quality. These are getting harder to find in good condition. Good looking small sports car almost a updated CRX look. A new compressor should last 10 years with normal mileage. Keep the windows down in warm weather.
I didn't know Cali was that strict on what type of catalytic converter could be used.. Makes sense, I'm still fixing a Cali RSX that was sold to a buddy of mine, he couldn't get it to pass emissions so it's been one thing after another hidden issues.. Yours seems a lot better condition, if you like these cars you just gotta do what you gotta do to get it road worthy, but trust me yours isn't that bad 🤣😂🤔
i have a 02 base auto as well and i use it as a daily and it’s still fun to drive. so far i have a knock sensor code which i’m hoping in replacing soon, wnd i also gotta fix my throttle body due to a rough idle. keep these videos coming in interested in seeing ur vision
I believe they can check if the battery has been unplugged to clear a code at the state inspection place. In Texas they won’t do it till the car has been driven 100 miles since. Also I’ll have a base cat converter soon so hmu and I’ll let it go cheap lol.
When the plug the computer into the ECU at DEQ it will tell them which systems are ready for testing. Since the check engine light has come on is an indicator that the systems have reset and are sending their readings to the ECU resulting in the code. If the CAT is obstructed by buildup it can result in a code, I believe there are methods to soak the CAT and clean the buildup from it. Worth a try before you sink any money into a sensor or new CAT.
I have bad experience with high mileage Acura that I just stay away from them. Get them under 120k miles and you should be fine. Most people just trash these cars and don't take care of them.. Also if paints fading stay away too cause it turns into a project car.
thank you! hoping this also solves my window vibrating issue lol... when i push on the window it stops the vibrating noise. tried tightening window assembly and no luck.@@jessejzRsx
I have an 03, I’ve had it for about 8month and I have the same issue with the light and code but I’ve left it alone since the exhaust sounds like something has been to it and it hasn’t been giving me an issues I assume its that since its been driving smooth the light goes and turns on very once in a while on its own my exhaust isn’t crazy loud but it does look stock *
It sucks when seller's hide problems & yes you can still scan it even if the light is off why not try to paint the car your self practice on a old panel like a fender or has cap bunch of video's on here showing you how to paint could save alot of money & what about finding a used cat from a junkyard
You could run some cat cleaner through the car see if that fixes the 02 sensor. I have a few videos up on fixes I have done not all of them but a few fixes.
I bought a Base model rsx for $2600 with fresh new paint with 192k miles I had for 2 years now and it’s had no issues
ha, glad here in Canada i can get an aftermarket cat.

make sure you dont have ANY exhaust leaks especially near the cat before you assume you need a cat
Yessirr . Thats the reason for my check engine light . Just need a new gasket and flex pipe

250 miles and it’s a automatic…the first thing you buy is a dip stick and some caps. You definitely deserve to be scam 😐

The A/C is no problem, I bought a compressor kit that came with expansion valve, compressor, pag oil, drier/accumulator for $250 off partsgeek
And its an 02 rsx

I have a RSX Type S for a long time best car you can ever have. Is a honda just fix it or sell it to someone that will not complain
The complaint is about the seller lying about what is wrong with the car. Not the car.
fair purchase imo. sucks that it wasn't what you were expecting

$2600 car with high miles and you are complaining about common Honda/Acura issues. He should have told you the issues but you should expect it.
You should watch the full video.
Bought a car with 250 grand on three clock and blame the seller for telling lies... c'mon maaan. Then you want to restore it for cheap?😂😂😂😂
Irony your channel named shift 1320, and you drive an automatic base model rsx in limp mode.

i had it checked and they told me it was the compressor
whered you get the $45 molding???? i need new ones too mine are cracked and shit lol
website is called amayama.com
thank you!
