Moneyshifting is when you downshift into the wrong gear. Eg: if your in 3rd gear and you have to come to a stop on a 30 roll and you just downshift then that would be considered a “moneyshift” you can’t moneyshift in an automatic/CVT.
okay so i have a auto rsx and i use the manual mode sometimes and when i am approaching a light i am usually in 3rd gear around 35 mph is it okay if i down shift to 1st or is that “money shifting”? i want to know if i am damaging my trans
Alright dumb question, I’m curious if you have to downshift, I’m sure you can downshift for engine braking when stoping without rev matching, but can you just go to a stop from 5th gear without downshifting? Also I’ve seen a lot of hate on the autos, I’m buying a 2005 base model auto rsx and I was wondering if you would recommend the car/ if you can get good power. Also one last think I swear, at 80k miles are there any services relating to the auto that you would recommend, like new auto tranny fluid
Chris Carrera Thanks a lot for the reply! I wish I could have found a type s or a manual but unfortunately where I live in Florida I couldn’t find anything, though I plan to work on this car a lot and I have a bunch of modifications I’d like to do to the suspension alone so hopefully at some point I can start working on a k24 swap to manual!
@@StinkygooberTM i would suggest doing one thing at a time, im manual swapping my acura rsx-s right now and its costing me a shit tonne of money and a lot of time not driving
Late to this but hope you're enjoying the car regardless of auto or manual. Yes autos get a lot of hate but it still can be fun to drive. For me, it's my daily so auto is more for practicality but when I feel playful with the car, the semi-manual is still fun.
1:11 You can start in 2nd if you want in a manual. It's just not very practical. 3rd would technically be possible but again, why burn the clutch and go slow.
Depends on the car. I have a 2002 cavalier. 1st gear is designed for 1-5 mph or idling on hills. 2nd gear is very easy to start in. And 3rd is easy if you're on flat ground and can get the RPMS up.
@@masterv2041 Unless you’re stuck in snow or something, I still wouldn’t use 2nd gear because of the “lower torque” in starting gear. That car doesn’t have THAT much power, and 1st gear should be very manageable in those kinds of situations. And in no reason, should anyone be starting any kind of manual transmission vehicle off in 3rd gear. That’s unnecessary clutch wear and tear. I guarantee you that diesel trucks and high torque engine cars start off in 2nd, and they are totally fine. 3rd is just a no no.
it gives you options. I personally like both and this is a nice example to have a mix of both especially if you're younger. my parents didnt want me to get a manual bc they were scared of the hills in our area so this give you a nice feeling.
I have the same car but everytime I go to move the gear selector over to this mode the car doesn’t do it and just stays in regular automatic mode. Anyone know how to fix this
make sure your cable Isn't seized on the little H fork under the gearbox, also check the gear position sensor behind the driver wheel (big black box) they can also cause the semi auto to stop working.
CVT’s are trash your better off getting a manual rsx if you want to drive manual. It may be hard but it’s better than having to buy a new car or even swapping to a manual transmission.

I had no CLUE the RSX had a feature like this for a manual mode. I might actually go with the RSX over the sport now, from a daily perspective.
A manual you can be in any gear you want. It's all mechanical. There's a reverse lockout on 6 speeds.
Anthony Gentili how you do that ?
How would you do that ?
Have enough air fresheners?
I rather just have a semi manual cuz i can still be fast and cool while shifting and chill during auto
it’s slower than auto
If you ride the clutch enough in a manual dont matter what gear I lost all gears beside 4th at once drove it home 5 miles in traffic
If you ride the clutch. You wear the clutch not your gears
Nice man. Now time for me to go try it on mine! I have a 2005 RSX.
Get higher in the rpms to get a boost from VTEC
The k20a3 that the automatic, base rsx's have doesn't have the "power" type vtec. It's an economical version that engages at 2,200 rpm.

do u just shift or need to release the gas and then shift or?
In 90% of shiftable automatic cars your not supposed to let of the gas when shifting and it can sometimes cause hard shifts or slow shifts if you do.
Thanks
