My mom was pretty much forced to buy a 2019 accord with a 1.5 and cvt. She had a worn out kia and was able to trade it for the accord that had 14000 miles on it. I really hope you are wrong about the 1.5 turbo engines. She has put a lot of miles on it so far, and I make sure she does oil changes every 5000 miles. So once again I hope you are wrong about the 1.5. Honda makes great engines so I think it will be a fine car for her.
I bought an ILX based on a review, which Scotty did a few years back. Thanks Scotty, this had been the best car that i owned. Your insight is truly genius
I sold my ILX Aspec 4 months ago. I miss it dearly. Everyone knocks on the 2 display set up. I miss it the most. It feels like going from a 2 monitor pc set up to one.
Just bought a '22 A-Spec with 19k miles. Has another 4 years bumper to bumper warranty up to 100k miles. I don't care if the interior is "outdated." No turbo (K24), no crappy CVT (8 speed DCT) and it's faster and I think also looks better than the new Integra. Also consistently getting high 30's mpg. A lot of car and warranty for $25k. I love it so far.
I purchased a 2021 ILX ASPEC based on the reviews including this one. I feel so confident in the reliability in this vehicle. The car is a helluva looker too with a nice widow tint.
Totally agreed about the smaller displacement turbo engines, there’s just no way we’re going to see the same reliability as a simple naturally aspirated setup. I’m sure they’ll continue to improve as time passes but I’d still take one of Honda’s 2.0 or 2.4L engines over their 1.5 turbo any day of the week. I had an Accord with the 2.4 in it, drove it till 400,000kms then gave it to a friend, she’s still driving it and it’s still going strong 💪🏻
I agree 100%. My previous two vehicles had the Ford 1.0l turbo EcoBoost; one of them manual transmission, the other with that dual clutch transmission. I just traded the latest one in for a Mazda CX-5 2.5 non-turbo. One of the things like most about the vehicle is the drivetrain, straightforward 4 cylinder with a more traditional automatic transmission. Those little engines are too high strung, and I learned the hard way with the first car that small problems escalate very quickly when you're trying to ring out so much power from such a small engine. Also, it's nice to drive a non-turbo around town, the power delivery feels smoother from a stop in stop and go traffic, it's a nice change. Also, I managed to get 33mpg on a recent road trip (calculated at the pump, not relying on the dashboard computer readout), driving sensibly. I'm more than happy with that from a midsized crossover SUV with AWD. I think I'll have this vehicle for many miles, it's nice to drive a vehicle with a bigger N/A engine for a change, as opposed to the little turbos I've had for the last 9 years.
@svenhodaka9145 this is my 3rd Acura. LOVED my MDX 16 yrs and 300k...went from the tank to this one...and I love it and hope it also gets 300k like the other 2! She is sleek and can get 37 mpg!
Recently traded in my 2018 Tacoma for a 2020 IlX ASPEC with Premium package. Got a couple grand back in my pocket, am getting nearly twice the mpg, the car has 50,000 less miles, and it's so fun to drive. Loving the ILX.

@@paulhance1984 you hate the ILX because it wasn't selling? Do you own a dealership? Acura didn't stop making it, they just changed the name back to Integra and put a oil diluting 1.5l turbo engine in it. I love my ILX so much. It’s a perfect car. Balanced, beautiful engine, amazing transmission, no button shifter, no stupid start stop system, and it’s just gorgeous to look at. Hate how they replaced it with a hatchback with a CVT. definitely buying mine when the lease is up.
2016 and up ILX is basically an automatic 9th gen Civic Si. The DCT transmission in sports mode is a lot of fun, shifts precisely and feels like a manual when you paddle shift. Crazy I’m just seeing this, I bought a 2020 ilx around march 2023 and these cars are priced to be taken out of the lots, for some reason everyone is sleeping on these but paying 15k plus msrp on a civic. When I was looking for a car my plan was to buy a civic, and ended up realizing these ilx’s are cheaper than civis on the used market if you look for something of similar year and mileage, so thats what I ended up taking.
Scotty I don’t always agree with you but thank you for making a great and flattering review of this car. I’ve had one now for years and it’s been a great car which I’ll probably continue to have for years to come.
the new tegs are a disappointment. I'll keep my ilx. K24, 8 speed dct. I appreciate the tegs got the manual, but i'm too old for that now. ilx are still comfy, well equipt, great on gas, reliable, fun to drive, and reliable. 5 years later, i'm still loving it.
Agreed! Love my ilx, I have over 400k miles on mine and it’s still such a joy to drive, never plan on selling. Got to try the new integra multiple times as a loaner and it’s simply not a car I could ever love as much, and I doubt they will be as reliable as the ilx long term
@@evanbyron8391 What year is your ILX? I’m curious about the longevity of the DCT. I have the 2.4L TLX with the DCT and the DCT didn’t get into the ILX until 2016.
Just got one of these for 22,000 with 12,000 miles after my 08 TSX rack dumped its fluids and the engine gave out in the same day. She had 122,000 miles and a previous owner put 84,000 of that on before me. I LOVE THIS CAR. The tech in what is an entry level luxury sedan is pretty impressive actually. Take care of an Acura, and it will take care of you for years.
@@juliedumont3417 the cvt is fine for a commuter and fuel economy but for performance driving, the dct can't be beat especially Honda's which has torque converter for smooth acceleration from stop for daily driving.
@@juliedumont3417 Better make sure it doesn't pop the CVT filler plug out like my wife's 2015 Honda Civic CVT does. The plug is always just laying on top of the engine right next to the filler hole when I open the hood. I have to plug it back in almost every time.
Bought a 14’ ILX w 121k as my first car after watching your last video on that black 16’ ILX. Just changed transmission oil. It runs like new still! Great commuter
ILX= Integra Luxury Xperimental. Acura/Honda did not kill it, they were just playing with letters. It's the same thing. But since people don't get the lettering and kept on moaning and whining why Acura killed the Integra now they stopped their lettering game and spell out Integra for them.
My pops still has his 2006 flagship RL. He drives it a few days a week. Has around 250,000 miles. The trans is starting to have a weird electrical issue but the physical trans itself still shifts fairly well. 1 owner. I drove it from the dealer myself as at the time my pops didn’t want me to drive his old manual truck as he didn’t want me to ruin the new clutch lol. 😅
The ILX was a decent car but the interior is too small. I just bought a 2023 Integra based on the Civic platform. It has the CVT and shifts perfectly fine and I averaged 37 MPG on my first tank of gas. The dealer even knocked $1000 off the MSRP. I was thrilled.
Totally agree with you about the turbos engine but the problem is that companies including Lexus, Acura, Honda, Toyota, now offer 4 cylinders that are turbocharged. It's the new trend and I think we'll have to get used to it for the future.
@@andybales7318 There's going to be a collapse of systems. Finite materials....chinese scrambling to mine for resource. Need coal plants for charging. Or forced public transit. Either way a collapse.
Please make a review on Acura RDX 2019+ (the newest generation). It is a great car. But we all would like to hear your opinion on it! Thank you in advance!
I have the exact same vehicle with the same powertrain, but a couple of years older. This combination of the K24 engine with one of the best DCT's ever made in a regular car is such a dream to drive. It's sad that Acura decided to kill this vehicle instead of continuing it in the market. The only reason why the car wasn't selling as much is because they let it sit without any redesign! The fallacy to think you can resurrect the integra name and just sell with the name but be a carbon copy of the civic with a small turbo and a CVT. This ILX was only a civic in size, the powertrain was completely different and that's what made it stand out and be fun. I love hearing my K24 rev and the quick and smooth shifts. In sport mode it really springs from a stop and takes other more expensive cars by surprise.
I nabbed a 2018 model at 78,000KM. SO far just had to change transmission fluid, and change rear brakes. It's a really fun car to drive, problem is it feels too good to run at 120km/h+ on the highway, you'll lose out on fuel economy. Drop her down to 100km and she sips fuel. I do have to say I love the parking brake. Main reason I chose it over a comparable civic for similar price...that and the lack of a turbo.
Overall i have a high opinion of Hondas and Acuras, but have one complaint. They should have never stopped making the Honda Fit. I know someone who has one and loves it. They handle quite well, are pleasant to drive, and get excellent gas mileage. What more could you want?
I agree. I test drove a fit about 2 months ago, too tight in the drivers seat for me. Seemed like I could not get the seat to go back far enough. I am 6ft even. I bought the ILX about 2 weeks later but I have always thought Fits were cool little cars and no turbo.
Just bought a used 2022 ILX A-Spec with 24k mi - traded in a 2020 Subi-WRX manual with 19k. I was looking for the new Integra, but didn't want a stick - just had a Major birthday and am ready to retire the shifting... Normal Integra was NOT the same car as the ILX. I was disappointed, since we had a '04? Integra GSR - THE Hot wheels car!!! Serial # 74! It was HOT. I swapped every other week with my wife for my BMW 325 Stick, since the GSR was so much fun to drive. The NEW stock Integra is disappointing, unless you go for the fire-breathing version. I had the WRX, so I HAD the fire-Breathing experience, and wanted something a little more comfortable (WRX is a sports car, not a hot sedan). I'm not driving nearly as much as I used to and couldn't justify the $$. I LOVE the ILX and am glad that Scotty likes it too. I RECOMMEND IT!
This car was overshadowed by the Mercedes CLA, Civic Type R, and others back in 2016. I was able to negotiate a great discount on a new 2017 model back in early 2018 all thanks to the people who brag about the other cars online. I love it.
I bought a 2020 ILX back in october and came across this video hoping scotty would have good things to say, glad this car checks out lol! Really is a great car and seems to be bulletproof based on all the reviews
thank you scotty im getting my second car and i really wanted a genesis but i decided on a ILX due to the gas and overall maintenance costs and this video had me feelin better bout ut
I have a 2013 ilx. I’ve put 200k miles on it and it runs and drives like the day I bought it. Minor stuff along the way like suspension and brakes and all that, but it runs like a Swiss watch.
Yes! Great to see a hand brake that is actually pulled by a hand. What's the point of calling a hand brake hand brake if you push a button with your finger to use it.
This is 9th gen civic si in a tuxedo with a 8 speed dct. Its a great car but remember its platform is dated. If you want a reliable car this is fantastic
I own a 2020 ilx. It is a fun little car. This is my second ilx and third Acura. The new integra is significantly more expensive, has a smaller displacement turbo engine and uses a cvt. I purchased my ilx brand new at the beginning of 2021. In two years, the price for an entry level Acura has increased by 12,000 Canadian. When my lease is up, I may have to say goodbye to Acura and purchase a Honda Civic. Still a great car, but not as fun.
Civics are not as reliable as they once were. Might want to rethink that unless you are willing to live with the base level civic 2.0 liter sport or LX with no frills. I have been driving Civics for the last 25 years, won't buy another until they kill the 1.5l turbo which they are putting in the new Integra as well. I'll pass on all that. Do your research before you buy. I did, and I ended up buying the ILX and I am glad. Coming from a 2008 Honda Civic Si 8th gen, I test drove a 2022 Honda Civic Si and it is crap. Dash has a chain link fence across it and the interior felt very tight, tighter than the ILX. It felt sluggish compared to my 2008 Si and it was not fun to drive like my 2008 Si. Feels huge and clumsy compared to my 2008 Si and I hate seeing the hood sticking out in front. I also hate oil dilution issues and having to change my oil more than I should.
Just discovered you this week Scotty ! From Windsor , Canada ; I trust you ,and your funny as heck . You would be a good friend to hang out with . Buying a new Civic . I feel good about it - lots of Canadian parts ! You're a good man .
Do you ever see the oil level rise above full between oil changes? If you do, better change your oil more often to keep your engine from destroying itself. Oil dilution caused by a poorly designed 1.5l turbo engine sucks. If you smell excessive gas odor when changing the oil, you have the issue. Try using 0W16 oil to help.
Had a 2019 ilx premium. Pearl white. K&N drop in air filter, always used 91 or higher. This car surprised me in so many ways. Not tue fastest car in the world but its definitely quick. The vtec and 8spd combined wow.
The ILX is based on the Civic from 2 generations ago, a Civic that was not that well thought of by reviewers. It needed to be replaced, compared to an Audi A3 or even a Mazda3 Turbo the ILX was noisy and harsh. I hate that Honda did not include the dual clutch with the Integra.
Scotty I have to say how much I enjoy your videos. I am contemplating getting my wife a 2021 Acura ILX Premium 13K miles one owner. Certified 38 months or 87K miles which for the piece of mind is appealing to me. Asking 25k. We have a 2008 Lexus GS350 with 100K I bought with 30K and has been a great car. Lately little things coming up for repair.. I know now due to the age things will likely be needing to be addressed. I have maintained it meticulously. Prior I had a 2003 GS300 and from 100K-230K miles- although dependable it was when I was seeing things needing to be repaired. My wife drives this Gs350 and she has a 2008 Lexus IS250 in our 2nd home she loves. For her she feels GS350 is big. So I am attached to my GS350 (rear wheel drive) and I know you are a Lexus guy... Does it make sense to sell the GS350 which I could sell pretty easily and replace it with the Acura with the piece of mind Certified for 3 years and 13 years newer? Will greatly appreciate your opinion
@@olfactory_art I have an ILX and I'm 6'4, 250 pounds, it is drivable but you'll have a lean in the seat, back is curled into the seat and my head almost touches the roof, still love my ILX though
I totally agree... I would rather have a normally aspirated 2.4L than a ridiculous 1.5 with a turbo for the same horsepower, but now you have worse gas milage and you have turbo lag where you didn't before.
I love my Integra. Smooth, quiet, perfect balance of comfort and performance for me….& amazing sound system! Plus, I LOVE stick shift! I just wish it was a little faster.
I love this car so much, I own mine since May 2020, but the thing I don’t like that much is the transmission clunk noise. I even took it to Acura to get check and they said is totally fine
My Integra has equal hp but more torque, 100 less pounds, a kickin sound system, has adaptive suspension, a limited slip diff, and a tried and true Honda 6 speed manual… all while getting 34-38 mpg CITY driving in rush hour. I’m sorry Scotty, but the Integra is a better car overall. My ‘16 ILX was great but I do not regret trading it in for the Integra for even a second.
You had to pay how much for it again? You were forced to get top of the line Integra to get a manual transmission, that's a joke. Manual transmissions have always been the cheaper option when buying a car. They think we are all fools. 1.5l turbo motors blow head gaskets, have fun with that.
Convinced the wife to sell her 19 Optima after we scored a deal on a 2011 Corolla S owned and dealer maintained by an old couple for 5.5k 100k miles. She was sold after I showed her how easy it was to Install an Aftermarket Android Auto/Carplay system. Now I can sleep in peace knowing I won't have to deal with a Kia Breaking down.
My girl has this car. For what it is, its a fun little car thats extremely good on gas. I use it to do instacart/doordash since its so good on gas, sometimes. Crazy good on gas compared to my g37
Scotty, how often should you clean your Mass air flow sensor in this car? I just bought a 2021, and it has 35,000 on it? Car is in excellent condition, but I’m curious if I’d get better gas mileage, maybe? Make the fuel trims, perfect too, I’m assuming? Thanks
I have 8 months left on my 2021 ILX lease.. considering the buy out at $17,000. my only concern is a slight trans knock in low gear when I remove my foot from the gas and replace it on the gas? is that the double clutch?
Might be the trans mount, i have the same issue i’ll try replacing it myself it’s 200$ but the dealer’s not doing crap, maybe get a diagnosis first, also change trans fluid every 10/30k
ILX just didn't have enough ummph for me... I went back and got an 06 Acura TL with the manual. Lots of fun for a road car with 217000 miles and counting
I have 2018 tlx 2.4 the only gripe at traffic lights or at stops there is a annoying vibration that emits a noise the can be heard in the car squeaking rattle that comes and goes not sure if it is linked to having it in eco mode idle get too low sometimes in drive at stops
I have the same car and had the same at about 120,000 miles. I put in new spark plugs and it runs like new. My only gripe is the over sensitive auto braking that sees a vehicle in front slowing down (usually to turn right) that really isn't a hazard and needlessly jumps on the brakes. It doesn't happen much but when it does, I'm looking in the mirror waiting to be rear ended. Even if I press full throttle the car applies heavy braking.

You are right Scotty about ILX. I have a 2016 ILX. The car is fun to drive, I love my ILX.
the new tegs are a disappointment.
Slap a limited slip differential on the ILX and I'm sure it would run circles around the new Integra. The dual-clutch transmission is no joke
@@evanbyron8391
What year is your ILX? I’m curious about the longevity of the DCT. I have the 2.4L TLX with the DCT and the DCT didn’t get into the ILX until 2016.
I have a 2018 ILX. Enjoy it every day.
Upgrade the tech with a wireless android auto or apple car play adapter. Quick, cheap and easy upgrade. No wires.
@@Steve-O_FPV I did so and it is good. Not great, since I can't figure out how to switch the buttons from the menu up to the Waze map, but good!
The DCT should have been carried over to Integra instead of the CVT.
Really don't understand why it wasn't 🤦🏾♂️ Dumbest move by Honda.
No way. I love the 2023 Integra CVT

Recently picked up a 2012 TSX after like more than 2 decades since my previous Honda. They are still great and fun to drive and work with.
I got an 2018 RLX and I love it. Don’t ever plan on getting rid of it unless Acura brings it back
My pops still has his 2006 flagship RL. 😅
I got a 1st Gen 2004 Acura RL and I love it at 188,000 miles I just changed the tranny fluid
My 2014 Civic Si has a similar engine The K24Z7. It currently has 240K miles and still running strong.
Newer ILX uses K24V7, it’s like a 4hp difference hahaha
Wish I had the Si, my 14 civic coupe has the R18,not a bad car just not enough balls, at least it’s a manual. 😊
It is depressing the way it’s going. I’m holding onto my 2006 tsx 6MT for life lol.
Enjoy that CVT. Good luck.
You are right Scotty the new Acura and Honda is a complete different product. Good Honda days are over. We will regret
I make the backlites for the ILX and Integra. Pretty cool seeing this video.
The last good car Honda has made. k24 with DCT is epic. This car will appreciate once people get fed up with low displacement turbo charge cvt setups.
Currently trying to talk my girlfriend into buying the ILX, from what I’ve heard they are bulletproof and have beautiful styling
I have a 2019 with 27k and it’s been great
i work at the honda plant in ohio and seeing this review made me very of the vehicles we build
Totally agree with you about the turbos engine but the problem is that companies including Lexus, Acura, Honda, Toyota, now offer 4 cylinders that are turbocharged. It's the new trend and I think we'll have to get used to it for the future.
I love the turbo. I get 80mph while getting 30 mog

Please make a review on Acura RDX 2019+ (the newest generation). It is a great car. But we all would like to hear your opinion on it! Thank you in advance!
Just found your channel I love how straight forward you are you just gained a sub
Yeah it’s misunderstood as a “upscale civic”. Its an accord engine with an Acura dct on a civic chassis
@@tyro7428 The best of all worlds.
That transmission is remarkable.
Im a Toyota car salesman and Hondas and Toyotas are the only vehicles I recommend when asked about great reliability. They’re simply better.
I LOVE my ILX, and I'll never sell it. Amazing car!
Nah, ILX isnt the same as the Integra. ILX actually got a DCT for the automatic. If the Integra got that I would have bought one instantly
Civic size Acura with 2.4L engine and 8 speed auto transmission is a complete package..
Grab the KTuned Turndown muffler in 2.5 inlet and thank me later if you enjoy driving your ILX
Exact same here.

Indeed we must love our cars with manual transmission that will last so long. No need for any other technology.
Discontinuing the RLX was a bad move, too.
Man Scotty cranking out more videos than these car companies are cranking out cars right now….

Yes! Great to see a hand brake that is actually pulled by a hand. What's the point of calling a hand brake hand brake if you push a button with your finger to use it.
It's a real good-looking car. The pre-mmc is my favourite version - much simpler and elegant altho slightly cheaper-looking.
I have the 2022 blue Acura ILX aspec and I love it.
I can attest to what Scott says. I've had to replace the turbo in my car 3 times so far. My next car will not have a turbo.
It’s a bummer that they did away with the 2.4l engine and the 8 speed DCT.
Looks like a nice car and it's not an EV!
My friends wife has a 2013 ilx hybrid with 160,000 on the clock. The engine runs great but, the CVT transmission is starting to shudder
Acura+Honda= Honda 😍
This is 9th gen civic si in a tuxedo with a 8 speed dct. Its a great car but remember its platform is dated. If you want a reliable car this is fantastic
My mom still has the 07 Acura TSX dawg

Great car. Have a 2019 ILX and love it.
I love my Integra. Smooth, quiet, perfect balance of comfort and performance for me….& amazing sound system! Plus, I LOVE stick shift! I just wish it was a little faster.
I love this car so much, I own mine since May 2020, but the thing I don’t like that much is the transmission clunk noise. I even took it to Acura to get check and they said is totally fine

You had to pay how much for it again? You were forced to get top of the line Integra to get a manual transmission, that's a joke. Manual transmissions have always been the cheaper option when buying a car. They think we are all fools. 1.5l turbo motors blow head gaskets, have fun with that.

my only concern is a slight trans knock in low gear when I remove my foot from the gas and replace it on the gas?
is that the double clutch?
Might be the trans mount, i have the same issue i’ll try replacing it myself it’s 200$ but the dealer’s not doing crap, maybe get a diagnosis first, also change trans fluid every 10/30k
ILX just didn't have enough ummph for me... I went back and got an 06 Acura TL with the manual. Lots of fun for a road car with 217000 miles and counting
I’ll keep my 2018 IlX A-spec.
The whole Honda tuner community jokes about how the Integra is basically an ILX hatch and scotty here caught on.
Love you scotty and Love my ILX !!!!
