How can people not like this video? She is extremely eloquent, very nice, intelligent and a great story teller. And she makes a valid and important point.
White Okay ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx6K7NWahp9y3ir1gVAwysOCHOOPSnWZbw . I got it from my browser's history. I know that it's really frustrating to be over-weighted but all is possible with a strong determination. Good luck…..
To think that they all laughed at Dr Atkins in the early 70's, calling him a charlatan! He's really the father of keto/low carb as we know it today. He deserves that honor and title.
Ginny c no he isn't.....keto was started for seizure patients. It's the only thing it is good for. It's been proven once off the keto...up to triple weight comes back 🙄
A great inspiration. I’m an 83 year old man. Been watching you for a while and have lost 37 lbs in the last 10 months. I haven’t felt this good in years. Thank you and congratulations on your health journey.
That's so great!! That is a huge benefit of low- carb eating, that excessive amounts of bone-busting exercise is not required so anyone of any age and health status can do it successfully. Congrats!
The thumb down ppl are upset bc she is not standing there looking like an under weight female wearing a bikini.this woman instead is very intelligent, very sweet and looks amazing ,she should be very proud of herself!😊
Sooooo proud of you. I learned about this at 72 yrs. lost 50 lbs so far . No more pre diabetes or high BP. Love to listen to you and you are a great teacher! You go girl!!!!
Sheri- Two years later I am reading your question. I am your age and need to lose around 30 lbs. I gained because I stopped walking and doing light exercise, combined with eating too many carbs. So it makes sense to me to return to my better habits and watch my portions. All the best with your health quest. ~ Diane
I was told I was diabetic about six years ago. They had me talk to a diabetic counselor and I told her I wanted to loose some weight. She told me to cut carbs and forget about calories. I did and the weight dropped off. I lost 50 pounds pretty quickly and the best part I've kept most of it off. Low carb is the way to go.
My boyfriend knows I'm trying the same diet as you, he was looking up recipes for me when I walked in and saw food and said "Mmm that looks good! Unfortunately I probably can't have it." he sat me down real quick and showed me some of your videos and now I'm so glad I found someone who cares about me enough to find meals for me and I'm glad he found you
@@mmichael6108 I understand your concern. However, it is not too hard to maintain a healthy keto diet. Often it is caricatured with accounts of people eating steak, eggs, and bacon for breakfast. That is totally unnecessary. It is easy to find healthy proteins, healthy vegetables and valuable fats to eat. Be happy to expound further.
@@thomasjefferson8939 yes exactly this lady at my job was doing bacon and eggs every day and lots of high fats .So i see results on utube but was scared of high cholesterol or gallbladder problems but other then that interested in the diet .
Michael. Nothing wrong with the bacon and eggs... but it's only one option. I also have concerns regarding increases in LDL cholesterol with increased saturated fat intake but it seems to be related to LDL particle size. Good test for you to request from your doctor.
Your story is almost the same as mine. I was diagnosed with uterine cancer (stage1) and DCIS in 2017. I had two surgeries and three rounds of radiation therapy and have been in remission since April 2018. In July 2018, I took control of my health by eating low carb and walking everyday, and I have lost 88 lbs. so far. I still have about 50 to go. Your story is an inspiration to me. Congratulations on your success.
Do you ever hate counting calorie intake and attempting to starve yourself when trying to lose weight? Do you lack power the whole day because you are not eating enough? I was just like you in the past! I Then got shrewd and commenced following The Venus Factor diet plan. It was really easy to understand and put in practice. In only a week I was already losing weight. Want to find out more? Go here to read more or watch the video. goo.gl/LMCbkr
I lost 95 pounds doing very low carb. Took me about a year and a half. I was 230 down to 135 now and I am 5'5" 68 years old. I had all the metabolic issues mentioned above on the video. HDL was 30 Triglycerides over 400. Now HDL is 83 Triglycerides are just over 100. Cholesterol is a little high but doctor is not worried since everything else is looking so good. Doc was shocked to see me do this totally on my own and at my age and very little exercise other than I am a normally hard worker. He is very pleased with my progress. I have kept it off for over a year now with very little effort. I am no longer hungry all the time. Good luck to you.
Me and my wife went to "boot camp" for two years. We didnt loose a single pound. After keto for a year, my wife is down 70 and im down 50. We feel great. So much negativity from the family though.
Wooooow-congrats! How many times a week do u workout? And what are you eating now? I have a lot of weight to lose and I‘m thinking about starting this diet
@@MariamAli-wg6gk We walk a few miles a week, other than that , it's mainly about eating healthy food, fat, and low carbs. The real test is watching your kid eating a huge chocolate chip cookie without taking a bite haha.
Hahha I believe you-I have such a sweet tooth and I‘m a bit concerned how I‘ll manage it😅 but when I hear about such great results as yours, It’s really motivating 💪🏻

,@@MariamAli-wg6gk You really should watch Jason Fung and KenDBerryMd both have a ton of information regarding keto and various types of fasting. FYI, sugar in all its forms is poison to the body, cutting those out is the major part to getting healthy.
Bless your heart. Your story makes me sad. People don't realize how they have been lied to about diet. I'm so glad you finally found the truth. I've been on the keto diet for about 25 years. Yes, it's not a new diet, it's just newly popular. I'm 71 years old now and I actually do cartwheels (not somersaults) on the back lawn with my grandchildren. I stand up putting on my socks, I walk for miles without tiring and I ride my bike within a 30-mile radius, even using my bike when grocery shopping. When I first began eating keto, I lost over 80 pounds and have kept it off. I have been at my ideal weight for many years and I owe it all to the keto diet. For 25 years, I've been in perfect health and don't even have a doctor. I do annual check-ups and all the tests come out great.
Hi Dot I have been watching your videos for quite a while and over the past couple of years been on a journey myself. I remember you saying on one of your vids that you went on the carnivore to try that out. Just really curious how that went for you? I tried it for about 3 months and maybe I should have been on it for longer. But eating just meat is really not for me. It did help with portion control though but I was not digesting well enough. My sugar levels were starting to climb and I am on blood pressure pills. So after alot of research I decided to go on a parasite cleanse as well as a liver cleanse. I was pretty sick about 2 weeks after I started the parasite cleanse. It was the die offs that got me. The dead parasites coming out of my body. But I am under the care of a naturopath and colonic specialist. Not too pleased about having to concentrate on drinking 10 - 12 cups of water per day. That is too much water but if I don't I get constipated. But I have gone back to the keto diet. It's my best lifestyle diet I'm very glad to hear you are doing very well, you look so healthy also FABULOUS & BEAUTIFUL!!! Keep up the good work girl. 😊
Exactly the same for me. I tried everything and nothing helped. I had a heart attack at 59 and was put on statins. Statins ruined my health and had very little benefit and made me feel like shit At 69 I was diagnosed as diabetic and did some research and found out that what happened to me was typical and what I needed to do was ignore the conventional advice and go on a low carb hi-fat diet. Did this at the age of 71 and lost 52lbs in weight and weight went down to normal. Please please listen to this woman.
What a lovely story. I have so far lost 22 pounds on a low carb and intermittent fasting diet. Been 4 months now and going strong. Glad I started this journey. Any inspiration helps me to keep going.
Because her title is about how she lost 145 pounds. It should be how I got heavy. And how you can join my blog. Because the whole video is wanting blog follows. It’s great what she did. But she doesn’t tell how she really did it. That’s what people expected because that’s what she titled it.
@@stephaniemcclintock4292 As a mostly vegan person new to the low-carb lifestyle, I’ve been pleasantly surprised to find lots of options. Vegan and low-carb diets are not mutually exclusive - contrary to what Dr. Atkins might have said! It just takes a little extra effort to make sure you get enough fat and protein. I feel incredible eating this way, and my health problems are disappearing.
I cried after your video. You opened my eyes to see myself! I’m following your videos now thank you for taking time to post them. I’m almost 45... everything you said made sense, thank you ❤️
You are my hero!! I have been on Keto since Sept 1,2019 and as of today I have lost 71 pounds. Thank you for your inspiration. I am keeping you in my prayers as you go thru your cancer journey. May God's healing touch wrap around you.
After my wife passed away with cancer 1.5 year ago after 26 years of marriage , and i was looking after my mum who had dementia .and working 12 hours a day . i found my self eating when ever i could find a few spare minuets , this meant sandwiches and sausage rolls off the food van , microwave meals after work and ice creams . Sit down exhausted and depressed cracking open a few cans of beer , bottle of wine at the weekend may be a bottle of gin or malt whisky . week in week out ..the last few weeks i have felt my body change : tingling in my arm and leg like pins and needles , dizzy , this weekend my eye is all red and blood shot .. This is the first time in my life i had felt a little frightened about my health , i'm on my own and if i take ill how will i cope . i'm 58 , 5 foot 8 and would say about 17 stone now , i was shocked when i saw my self in a mirror . i need to change my life style from now this day !!! , stop drinking in the house on my own and cook fresh healthy meals , more veg and good things .. i looked at getting food boxes but that's not the answer..i will follow these video's , cook and eat the recipes , take up walking again ... little steps may change my life around for the better ( i hope ) :)
@@Dot2TrotsLowCarbLiving Hi Dot, if you don't mind my asking, what carb limit do you try to stay at or below daily? did you lower your carb intake slowly so it would not shock your body? Thanks,
@@stoverreserve5727 It won't Shock your body to lower the carbs suddenly. You may experience what's known as the 'Keto-flu'... but that will pass a couple of days.
I'm starting to see why it's the best way to go. Because I'm having a tough time giving up white rice, dumpling, white sugar and cake. I thought to myself that you can have these foods, but just eat less of it. But, you're still eating it and it's having an impact on me. I'm going to try and cut out the white carbs and try to go natural. But, your success is an inspiration.
You’re SWEET thank you for this story! I’ve tried keto for a short time and it worked well. I was working a super stressful job and eventually gave in emotionally to my bad habits again. I’ve needed some inspiration and here is your story! I love it. I’m 63 and knees are shot but I know it I get rid of a hundred pounds it will be a game changer. Thanks again! ❤️❤️
I'm starting my journey on low carb life style and I love your channel,I'm 55 and diabetic I'm doing it for my health . Thank you for sharing this with us!! Many blessing 🙏
I was thinking the same thing. Your voice keeps my attention. Love your recipes. I'm glad I stumbled on this video to learn more about YOU. You have inspired me to keep going on the keto and I love your recipes. I've lost 25+ lbs so far and my husband has lost 55+ pounds. I'm hoping that you have a great recipe for a keto bread. I'll keep looking. Thank you.
Such a revelation! "Calories in = calories out, just move more" is the biggest lie I've ever heard. Your story is so inspiring!!!! God bless and thank you for posting!

Thank you, i have upped my excerise to walking an additional 4 miles total per day once in a.m. and another after dinner......intermittent fasting has worked for me...low carb low fat diet, water with lemon first thing in the morning. *Your journey on a low carb diet is proof that making dietary changes can have a profound impact on weight loss and overall health. Thank you for sharing your story and inspiring others!*
Thank you so much for sharing your story. Since, I've had my 3rd child, I've struggled with everything you've mentioned. I've had surgery to remove 2 fibroid cysts on my uterus. THANKFULLY, they were non cancerous, but I'm ready to take back my health.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. It's my story as well! I am on day 4 of going into ketosis and I am ready to work hard and turn my life around. I look forward to watching more!
Thank you, ma'am. 6'2", 320 lbs - graduated from high school a cross country runner and boxer back in '81 at 175 lbs. Appreciate your insights - especially since I see the parallels between your life and mine.
I was searching for low carb videos and came upon yours and everything you said it was like “that’s me “ I just found out I am pre diabetic I’m on blood pressure meds, overweight and the list goes on and on, I’m so glad I found your channel and I’m looking forward to watching your videos and learning from them.❤️
The way you expressed yourself about your weight loss journey and how u have had to overcome so many obstacles really made me cry because I myself am going to that same situation. I’ll keep you in my prayers and you have earned yourself a new follower. Thank you!
You have a new subscriber. As I was listening to you, I kept saying that's me. I started my journey in January. I'm loving so far. You are so inspiring. I know I'm gonna love your channel. I am so glad I found your channel. I have tears in my eyes of happiness. Congratulations to you. You look great.
Hey Dot you look amazing and 145lbs is a LOT of weight to lose, I have about that much to lose, but I'm terrified of the lose skin that this magnitude of weight loss leaves behind. How did you manage to avoid this? Your face looks great, your arms are nice and firm, no sagging or wagging skin their either. Please share your secret.
S Girl everyone’s different; you won’t know till you lose it... I was 47 when I lost 65 pounds... I just looked better & my skin remained the same... I kept myself hydrated & my skin moisturized.
So glad I came across your video! It really spoke to me. Although I lost about 90lbs in the past, I gained some back and have been up and down since. You have encouraged me to do what I have to do! Thank you for sharing!
I had the same issue. I was eating less and less, and almost all healthy food. Working out regularly made no difference. Hungry all the time. Constantly. I just kept gaining more and more weight. I'm in my mid-40s. I had almost doubled my college weight despite doing what the experts said I should be doing. The doctors always said eat less, exercise more but wouldn't believe that I almost never at junk food, worked out regularly, and hadn't drank a soda since I was in my early teens. I went from 97 lbs to 179 lbs. About 12 weeks ago I decided to cut sugar, processed carbs, and add fat and more protein (mostly plant based) to my diet. This has changed my life. No more hunger! The weight is falling off at a frankly almost shocking pace. I've lost 12 pounds in 12 weeks. My blood pressure is normal/ideal again. The people that told us that low fat diets were the way to go were full of BS. They ruined a lot of lives.
Yes they did ruin a lot of lives RandomJane and they are still busy doing so, and the sad thing is that they will never be held accountable for it. "Honest mistake" is what they will claim of course! - Meanwhile we know exactly what to feed exotic zoo animals to keep them at peak health, but "experts" can't figure out the optimal human diet? That is of course nonsense. They know the truth, but they deliberately hide it and even campaign against it.
The food industry threw their weight around, their lobbyists head the FDA and they donate to political campaings * etc. So they got a certain kind of "food pyramide" - and since heart attacks, high blood pressure (diabetes too) were on the rise (it showed up in the 1970s already but of course much better than now) - they needed a "culprit" - drumroll..... cholestorol. * It is only a little bit better in other nations, the food industry is left to sell and market their stuff. But it shows, no nation is as obese as the U.S. Propping up cholesterol as the villain: if you force feed rabbits with high fat food (egg yolks and I think other fats added) they would not touch if they had a choice - of course they are not looking good in the autopsy. That sham of a study was the base to declare cholesterol as "dangerous" for humans (if eaten in quantities that were considered normal. think fat meat, or butter or eggs). Eggs have been rehabilitated. You will do much ! better with lard, butter from organic sources (or even normal agriculture) than from industrially processed fats, margarine, shortening (transfats - but not only that). if "low on starches that are easily digestible, plus sugar, cakes, baked goods, are a treat and not a staple" would have been the reasonable order of the day - it would have been BAD for the FOOD INDUSTRY, and restaurants (think pizza, bakeries, fast food industry with deep fried goods) eager to sell more and more of their stuff. It would have been the recommendation for traditional oats - but certainly not the sugary cereals, that the little ones (and their mothers) are brainwashed to perceive as heatlhy breakfast. There is only so much marketing you can do around lentils (dried for homecooking) or oats. Both meals can be easy to prepare, but the staples do not lend themselves very well to lifestyle branding and good added profits - because the main processing is done at home. I like to have some milk and dairy products. But milk is not a beverage. It is food that should be eaten with moderation. (another industry friendly part of the food pyramid). A science based, honest food pyramid would have had implications for the fast food / food industry. and the softdrink industry. Or selling fruit juices (Florida an California !). These juices should be treat, too (hardly anyone eats the amount of apples or oranges that are easily swallowed down in form of fruit juice). They too should be considered to be "food" not a beverage (and certainly as a treat), not the standard way to get enough fluid. For that you have WATER.
I'm with you. I am now Keto. It took the better part of 4 months to start loosing weight. I am now shedding the weight about 2 lbs. A week. It is worth the weight.
Thanks for your comment PQ! I've had a few tries at keto/LC/LCHF and have given up each time after about 6 weeks because it didn't seem to be working. I'm starting again on 1 December and this time I will persevere and see if I can emulate your success!
Update! I am still persevering and this last week things started happening. I water-fasted for 10 days in Dec and then went on OMAD. Sometimes had 2 meals a day. Low carb, some days keto. Have now lost 36lb, with 9lb of that in the last 10 days. SO HAPPY!
Project Queen thanks again for your comment on dots video re being patient. My fatty liver is almost healed and the weight is now beginning to fall off me. Like you, it took 4 months.
I'm happy that you are feeling better. I will be 63 this month and my health is not very good. I'm hoping that I can learn how to cook healthy keto meals and also improve my health. Thank you because you are helping many people, including myself.
I am just beginning keto. I have been watching video after video to learn all I can. Yours is my favorite so far. You are so encouraging and real and informed. I am going to start following your blog. Thank you.
Hi dot. Thank you for telling your story. I'm at your starting point myself and trying to find the best way to get better. You're an inspiration. I needed this direction. It sounds like it will work for me too.
I' have just discovered your channel and will be following your recipes. I've been living Paleo for nearly a decade now and recently have been tweaking it to incorporate more healthy fats and a bit less protein. I've never had issues with my weight - am 57 and weigh 139 pounds, former athlete, swimmer, who still rides her bike and go for long walks. But I lost my dad to diabetes, dementia, Parkinson's and Alzheimer and there's no frigging way I'm going down that path in life . Please keep up the good work!
I’m so happy UA-cam recommend your channel in my news feed. I look forward to trying your recipes and weight loss suggestions. I am over 50 and feel the same way about the metabolic syndrome. Wonderful informative video.❤
That is one of the best explanations and accounts I've seen! Thank you for sharing your experience. I follow a low carb diet because it greatly helps with inflammation of osteoarthritis. I feel so much better and can be active again.
As an older person (63) I can definitely confirm this, gitarmac! I've lost weight using Dr. Atkins' guidelines on and off for years but I do love food and I sometimes back slide; but when I did this recently and gained weight I felt like I could barely move, my back and hips especially were agonizing. Luckily I knew what to do. I went back to low carb eating and presto - my flexibility and energy have returned, my skin and hair have improved amazingly. I am staying here permanently now.
One of the best testimonials of weight loss I have heard and all her delicious recipes that she shares is very helpful. Thank you Dot, God bless you and your family.
I read Dr. Atkins book and followed low carb exactly as he prescribed. I lost 55 lbs and All my vitals were perfect. I tried for years to get back on track, but couldn’t do it. Hoping watching your videos will help! Thank you for sharing! Praying you kick the cancer to the curb.
Hi Dot! I came across this video about a year ago. I don't know what words can truly convey to you how much you spoke to me and got through to me what changes I needed to make. I know you've had a lot of challenges lately and I want to encourage you as much as you've encouraged us. You can do this. You've already done this. You can do it again. Hang in there and we look forward to hearing from you soon!
Just found your site and I want to thank you for being so honest and upfront about your health and weight. I am struggling also and I am going to continue to watch, listen and learn. Thank you and you look fab!
I am so happy to have found this channel....I have been following these young girls in their 20's and trying to stay motivated, but I just can't relate to them. For the most part their videos are difficult to pay attention to because they either have toddlers running in and out, or they want to introduce you to their dogs and cats. How does this inspire me?? I just love that I have found a mature woman with similar health issues and weight range as myself to follow! This is going to be very helpful.....thank you Dot!
Wow, that's so nice of you to say, and I know EXACTLY how you feel. That's what I wanted when I started this channel, and folks like you make me want to keep coming back with more. (note to self: keep my dogs/cats out of the kitchen, hehe). I think there's 1 video with my sheepdog sitting on the floor in it. She gets a quick cameo.
Thanks Dot for this video. I’m 64 and have lost approx 50 lb since Easter 2018. Low carbing, slowly. I need some more easy recipes to throw into my diet! Since I’m a caregiver for my 93 yr old father, my time is limited and stress high 🥴
Good for you, girl! What a wonderful story. You are truly beautiful. I have had to battle extra weight since I was ten in 1966 and the doctor, after taking my appendix out, told my parents I had too much belly fat. I, too, have been on every diet in the world. I finally just started doing what I wanted to do, being active and the real change happened when I cut the white food way back and ate all the good fats I could. At 62 I think I’ve finally “got it.” No holds barred on vacation and the odd treat. You seem happy. May that continue. 💛
I'm IN!! I started my new ways to Keto February 20, 2019 & I am trying to learn all I can to make it good & great! Already have a loss of -13.5lbs! Thank you for your story and look forward to the recipes and learning how to cook Keto!!
Congratulations! Soi happy you took matters into your own hands. Me too. Two years ago I did the switch because I've been diabetic for 18 years and my sugars were in the 500s. I went low carb and got away from processed junk. Monday I will turn 50 and feel better than ever. My sugar numbers are normal. I look forward to seeing your recipes. I weigh what I did back in high school. Thanks for sharing and inspiring others.
This is such an empowering video. Thank you for uploading this and being real and transparent. I've struggled almost all my life being over weight. It's been about a year since I've started my journey and I've never felt better.
thanks Dot, you inspire me. I've struggled with my weight since i was 12 years old. I've been on the Weigh-less diet, weight watchers, low GI diet, low callorie diets, the beetroot diet, south beach diet, injection diets, diet pills and just plain starving with no success. I'm now on the Tim Noakes low carb eating lifestyle and love it. i just gave birth to twins and want to lose that baby weight and some extra. At my heaviest before giving birth I was 154kgs (339 lbs) and hope to reach my goal weight of 100kgs (220 lbs) or more.
I love Prof Nokes! Banting/Keto/LCHF is what I do. Good luck with your efforts. It really is about getting healthy and the weight loss is a great by product. The key for me was realizing that 1. perfection is the enemy of success (it's all about doing the best you can, slip ups happen, don't beat yourself up and get back on track immediately) and 2. the scale is a point in time tool, that is all (better tools to measure success -- your measurements, how you feel, energy level, and how loose your clothes fit. I'd say if I can do this anyone can.
You told all it did for you but no suggestions what to eat. I lost over 100lbs by changing a few things. I have hit a plateau for a while and can't get started losing again and wss hoping your suggestions would help....nope
Just found this video today, and enjoyed your story. It's very familiar to my own. I love being able to move around, exercise, get on the floor with my grandkids, etc. I couldn't do any of that before losing 110 pounds (so far). No more meds. No more high BP. No more statin drugs. And my well being and happiness are multiple many times over. Best wishes to you, and thanks for sharing!
Just found our channel today. Your videos have never come up in my YT searchers for low carb food. I loved this first video. Can't wait to get started watching your other videos.
Madeline, that's so nice of you. Glad you like the channel, and that's great that you have a meetup around low carb. All the social meetups in my area seem to be "going to the bar" kinda things.
You are now strong enough to tackle and beat any issues or health concerns that may come your way now, and as you grow older! You have been very inspiring and I will definitely check out your recipes ! I need to lose a lot of weight myself, am in my early 40s, and my body feels like ive been hit by a truck! I am still uncomfortable in my own skin and I’ve been on a weight loss journey 9 months now. I have been exercising 4 times a week. I have Changed my diet and cut the sugar right out! I’m STILL battling “what to eat and how much” so I am looking to your recipes to help! Thank you so much for your hard work and passing your talents on! I wish you well...and good health! ❤️❤️🇨🇦
I'm so happy I found your channel. I appreciate that you share your knowledge without pushing products or a one fix for all plan. I feel good and not guilty or disappointed in myself after watching your videos which helps so much. Thank You !
Oh my gosh you are awesome and an encouragement! Thank you for sharing your story and for the experience and the information that you found out. I am on a similar journey that I went to the doctors office and discover that I have high blood sugar and I started to eat low-carb and have seen results are ready I’ve only been doing this for about two months. But thank you for the reminder of not really caring about the number on the scale! And also you have a very calming voice! Thank you for doing this
Oh Dot! Where are you? Are you okay? Haven’t seen any new videos in a couple of years and I’ve missed you so very much. You’ve been an incredible inspiration to SO many! Please make a video to let us know how you’re doing. Miss you!
So glad I found you. There are no accidents in life. I believe everything happens for a reason. I have decided to start a low carb lifestyle and was looking for help, ideas, recipes etc. You ended up in my recommendation list and decided to see what you were all about. I have been down the same road as you. At 72 I have decided something needs to change. I say it's never too late. It ain't over til it's over. You get do-overs!
I'm so glad I stumbled upon your vlog. I've been on keto almost a year. Although I've lost 65 pounds, reversed my type 2 diabetes, no more high cholesterol, exercise every day, and I feel great, the weight loss has slowed down to no loss in the last 3 months. It's discouraging, yet my hubby reminds me "you started this because your diabetes was out of control and your doctor said you were a walking time bomb for a heart attack!" I'm thankful for those reminders on days when I just feel like giving up because the scale won't move. I have had thyroid surgery and I may be going through menopause, so I try to remind myself my body is just trying to transition and adjust. I would love to lose another 60-70 pounds, but if it takes a lifetime, I'm going to continue on my journey as I haven't felt this good since i was in my 20s, and I'm 48 now. Another good thing...I have PCOS, and it has definitely helped the pain I suffer from that. Almost to the point where it's no longer an issue. WOo Hoo!
Stargazer Princess Please don’t give up! I am reading through here as I start my Keto life, tossing all the Super Bowl food away, we all know about the scale just getting stuck. If you stay strong you will be rewarded. I get discouraged too. The weight will continue to come off if you just keep trying. Stay strong!
Dot, YOU ROCK!!! Congratulations on getting healthy and living your life! You are an inspiration! I have been overweight most of my adult life and like you been on every diet known to man kind.I would lose some, go off the program, thinking that "I could do it myself", and I would fail miserably.Gaining the weight back, plus more.Last year, I finally got serious with the support of a dear friend and started on l intermittent fasting, low carb, high fat diet..and lost 45 #, trimming down from a size 16 to a 10.I got back to my rowing machine at the gym as well and did 100k meters between Thanksgiving and Christmas as an online challenge.I felt on top of the world..moving easier, less body pain, better confidence and self image.I have hit a bump in the road, moving, etc, etc(life), and have been "off my program" and I have gained about 10 # back in the past 4 mos.I haven't been putting myself first.I have been putting my job and everything else first and I feel like hearing what you had to say is going to help me put the brakes on where I am headed and get back on track.I start out good in the morning, lunch, when I get home, I am tired..and it all goes to hell..I HAVE to get my focus back!thanks for your encouragement and a prayer for your over-coming the cancer..thank you for sharing your story..
New subscriber here..... wow, I finally found someone who isn't a 20 yr old and I can relate to! Last time I went to a regular doctor I think I was told I was at risk for the metabolic syndrome. I will be watching your videos and learning!
I'm loving your channel, Dot! The recipes, inspiration, encouragement...and your delivery is so polished and professional...you could be an anchorwoman! I heartily agree with your other subscribers--I'm so glad to have found you!
I am 82. Just was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I plan to follow you and try your recipes. You seem to make the most sense and that is saying a lot. The internet is riddled with this Doctor and that Doctor one opposing the other. And then there are the dieticians and all of the other informers..it is all too confusing. When I was young and feeding a family of two adults and six kids, I always made meals from scratch, often my own made up recipes for casseroles. We weren't ever sick, nor over weight and though we ate carbs, they weren't the mainstay of our meals and we seldom had snacks. So, I am happy to find you.
Help inspire me? Yes you have! Just ran across your video and you sound like someone I would want for a best friend. I’ve listened twice and looked over some of the recipes . Inspired? Motivated? YES! YES! I will be seeing a lot of you as I try your recipes and follow everyone’s progress. Thanks for being there, exactly when I needed you most!

To think that they all laughed at Dr Atkins in the early 70's, calling him a charlatan! He's really the father of keto/low carb as we know it today. He deserves that honor and title.

A great inspiration. I’m an 83 year old man. Been watching you for a while and have lost 37 lbs in the last 10 months. I haven’t felt this good in years. Thank you and congratulations on your health journey.
Congrats on losing the 37 pounds. That is awesome.
That's so great!! That is a huge benefit of low- carb eating, that excessive amounts of bone-busting exercise is not required so anyone of any age and health status can do it successfully. Congrats!

That is awesome! Truly wonderful.
Margaret OConnor Please tell me what you have done to lose the weight. Specifically. I am 70 and it’s harder to lose at our age. Help!
Good for you
Sheri- Two years later I am reading your question. I am your age and need to lose around 30 lbs. I gained because I stopped walking and doing light exercise, combined with eating too many carbs. So it makes sense to me to return to my better habits and watch my portions. All the best with your health quest. ~ Diane
Nice, we need an update
any averse affect such as heart attack or kidney failure yet?
I was told I was diabetic about six years ago. They had me talk to a diabetic counselor and I told her I wanted to loose some weight. She told me to cut carbs and forget about calories. I did and the weight dropped off. I lost 50 pounds pretty quickly and the best part I've kept most of it off. Low carb is the way to go.
My boyfriend knows I'm trying the same diet as you, he was looking up recipes for me when I walked in and saw food and said "Mmm that looks good! Unfortunately I probably can't have it." he sat me down real quick and showed me some of your videos and now I'm so glad I found someone who cares about me enough to find meals for me and I'm glad he found you
Well I'm glad both of you found the channel. Good luck on your journey. Give a holler if you have questions or need help.
I did my own expriment and to lose fat fast was eating fibre carbs and rice meat and eggs
How sweet is that?

I've been on keto for 3months now. lost 32lbs and feel much better too. I hope to get off all my medications eventually.
I heard your not supposed to dr keto permanently. I need to lose weight and considering this diet. How do you guys recommend maintaining?
Congratulations
Low carb works. I have lost 90 pounds over the last few years.

I still do a cheat meal about once a month.
Do you ever hate counting calorie intake and attempting to starve yourself when trying to lose weight? Do you lack power the whole day because you are not eating enough?
I NEVER do a cheat meal. Only cheating yourself and bringing on the hunger for more. If it works for you then great sure does not work for me.
You're awesome, thanks for sharing. I'm doing low carb and I'm hoping for success! Your videos are a huge help!!!!!
Me and my wife went to "boot camp" for two years. We didnt loose a single pound. After keto for a year, my wife is down 70 and im down 50. We feel great.

This is the first time in my life i had felt a little frightened about my health , i'm on my own and if i take ill how will i cope . i'm 58 , 5 foot 8 and would say about 17 stone now , i was shocked when i saw my self in a mirror . i need to change my life style from now this day !!! , stop drinking in the house on my own and cook fresh healthy meals , more veg and good things .. i looked at getting food boxes but that's not the answer..i will follow these video's , cook and eat the recipes , take up walking again ... little steps may change my life around for the better ( i hope ) :)

natalie dawson . Go! Go! Go! ❤️
I reached my pre covid weight this morning! Motivated to enter the 230s now. First time in decades.
Big congrats on the awesome change in health and mindset. TOTALLY agree with you about low fat diets.
Propping up cholesterol as the villain:
if you force feed rabbits with high fat food (egg yolks and I think other fats added) they would not touch if they had a choice - of course they are not looking good in the autopsy.

Low carb or keto?
Good on You!! This can be the hard end...but I pray the Best for You!! Today is the 1st Day of Change for me! ☺️
Same here.
I’m so happy UA-cam recommend your channel in my news feed. I look forward to trying your recipes and weight loss suggestions. I am over 50 and feel the same way about the metabolic syndrome. Wonderful informative video.❤
So sorry to hear you went through that, I didn’t know! So glad all is well... you’re a true inspiration and help me tremendously
Ms. Dot, I loved your intro. You really got my attention. When you were talking about you, I felt like you were talking about me.
Thank you so much :) I think we all have a lot of the same experiences, which is one of the reason I decided to share all this.
Thank you
Thank you.
Or they are discussing fad diets/unrealistic/starve yourself diets not lifestyle.
Yes. Or they ramble, seeming to just turn on the camera without a thought.😉
Debbie Lynn Loved your comment! 😂😂😂😂dogs and kids running in and out😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks Dot for this video.
Congrats on the weight loss and happy you found the channel
Awesome, very happy it's working out :)
thanks Dot, you inspire me.
So glad I found you!! Congratulations on your transformation. I'm really looking forward to watching your videos.
Thank you
You told all it did for you but no suggestions what to eat.
Please come back.....we miss you,and hope you're well 🙏
Your story is almost exactly the same as mine. I am so glad I found your recipes!
Just found our channel today. Your videos have never come up in my YT searchers for low carb food. I loved this first video. Can't wait to get started watching your other videos.
Thank you
Dot, you are wonderful. I am leading a group of low carvers on Meetup and I have led them all to this channel!
I have that book by Gary Taubs, haven’t finished it yet but I’m enjoying it. Best wishes for your recovery.
You're looking great! What an amazing story. I'm in the process of losing weight and struggling for the motivation. Thank you!
I'm so happy I found your channel. I appreciate that you share your knowledge without pushing products or a one fix for all plan. I feel good and not guilty or disappointed in myself after watching your videos which helps so much. Thank You !
Sooo glad to stumble upon your video tonight 2019!!! I really needed to see an example of someone that was once like me and changed for the better!
Best wishes for continued health and beating the cancer. Congratulations on all of the work you put in to get healthier and for sharing your story.
I like the phrase ''taking my health back.'' And I'm doing this too, your post is inspirational!
I did exactly the same thing and lost 30lb 😊
My story is just like you .
Thank you for making time to make this clip
Oh my gosh you are awesome and an encouragement! Thank you for sharing your story and for the experience and the information that you found out. I am on a similar journey that I went to the doctors office and discover that I have high blood sugar and I started to eat low-carb and have seen results are ready I’ve only been doing this for about two months. But thank you for the reminder of not really caring about the number on the scale! And also you have a very calming voice! Thank you for doing this
Awesome! I am a new subscriber. Just started this lifestyle a week ago and I've already lost 4 lbs, but better than that ...I feel GREAT!
That rocks! Keep up the good work. Thanks for subscribing, and keep feeling great :)

Dr.Eric Berg will guide you always

OMG - Your description is ME! HBP + Prediabetic etc. Thank you so very much for your voice of convidence!
Oh Dot! Where are you? Are you okay? Haven’t seen any new videos in a couple of years and I’ve missed you so very much. You’ve been an incredible inspiration to SO many! Please make a video to let us know how you’re doing. Miss you!
I'm totally fine, I promise. Just doing other things at the moment. I've updated my blog at various times: dot2trot.com. Thank you for caring! :)
So great to hear this, Dot! Will check out your blog. Take good care, pal!
So inspiring, Dot. Love your energy and presence!
Now that is a Testimony
:) Thanks!
Revisiting your videos, always enjoyed them. Wish I knew what became of you. I do wish you well and thank you for all have done
Love this…thanks for sharing your story. I am very inspired to stay on track with my own low carb plan. 💜
I'm another subscribers, because it's so me , congrats on ur weight loss and keeping it off! Thanks for sharing ur story
What a phenomenal and inspiring testimony. Well done Dot... keep up the great work and inspiring the rest of us.
Thank you for the inspiration! I had a lot of success on Dukan, but then got back into old habits. I'm ready to get back on a low carb track.
AWESOME! I just began my low carb journey and exercise
Awesome back! Best of luck :)
New subscriber here..... wow, I finally found someone who isn't a 20 yr old and I can relate to! Last time I went to a regular doctor I think I was told I was at risk for the metabolic syndrome. I will be watching your videos and learning!
Welcome and I hope you'll find some nuggets in these videos that can help you.
I'm loving your channel, Dot! The recipes, inspiration, encouragement...and your delivery is so polished and professional...you could be an anchorwoman! I heartily agree with your other subscribers--I'm so glad to have found you!
Thank you so much!
