"Angie" was a number one hit in the US for The Rolling Stones in 1973. I was in first grade back then and remember hearing the song on the radio station my parents listened to. Definitely a fall and winter song. When you're ready for more from them, check out "Gimme Shelter", "2000 Light Years From Home", "Monkey Man", "Bitch", "Mother's Little Helper", "Tumbling Dice", and "Shattered" along with so many other greats.
Keith wrote the music and came up with name Angie for the song and then Mick wrote the lyrics which is about his breakup with Marianne Faithfull. He has written many songs inspired and/or about her. Wild Horses is another inspired by her and the line "wild horses couldn't drag me away" in the song was the first thing she said to Mick after being in a coma for 6 days after swallowing 152 sleeping pills on a plane to Australia.... he sat beside her in the hospital and held her hand and begged her "please don't go please don't go my darling".... All the doctors thought she was gonna die any minute, but suddenly she opened her eyes and said back to Mick "Wild horses couldn't drag me away".... It's all described in her autobiography book. Very Romeo & Julia-esk relationship... both loved each other deeply, but it didn't work in the end... Marianne blame it on her decision to leave Mick and go and live on streets of London & become a Heroin addict.... You Can't Always Get What You want, I Got The Blues, She's a Rainbow etc are all songs written and or inspired by her. There is a fantastic live performance of I Got The Blues that you just have to see! Sooo good... ua-cam.com/video/FWWhX5BjVRw/v-deo.html
In a interview, Keith said it started out about going on the road and leaving his daughter Angela, he had the music but only a few lyrics. Jagger then reworked them about MaryAnn. Any way it is hauntingly beautiful. ❤
Doo Doo Doo Doo Heartbreaker, Midnight Rambler, Wild Horses, Get Off Of My Cloud, Bitch, It's Only Rock n Roll...........Sooo Many Great Songs, Keep em coming
The Stones didn’t do many ballads, but when they did, they knocked it out of the park. This is one of my all time favorites. Thank you for taking the time to react.
The Stones are one of my all time favorite bands....I've been a Stones fanatic since age 12.They have so many styles of music they touch on...Blues,Rock n Roll,RnB,Country,Reggae ect.So many tunes to discover for you.If you wanna laugh check out 'star, star'(studio version)....a song about groupies using Rock stars and probably one of the first to use the 'F word in the lyrics...pretty innovative for 1973(ha!ha!)!!
another one of their masterpieces. You have just barely touch the surface of this classic & historical band😁. 'Can't You Hear Me Knockin', Wild Horses, 'Last Time, 'Under My Thumb', 'It's Only Rock 'n Roll' just to name a few
Torn and Freyed! It’s one of those songs so good most people don’t know it. Tumbling Dice! Street Fighting Man! Sweet Virginia! Shine a Light! Dead Flowers! Loving Cup! Man there are a ton of great stones songs to dive into.
Such a masterpiece. I'm a broken record about checking out the solo work of Keith Richards whose guitar (and songwriting) is so much the genius of the backdrop of the Stones' sound. Stones: *Shattered, Let's Spend the Night Together, Wild Horses* Richards: *No Mistake 👀, Locked Away (🔥instrumentation), You Don't Move Me (written about Mich Jagger ;)*
Back in maybe 1980, in my memory I can still hear "Miss You" playing in the air , maybe hanging out at the park or coming out a car window as it rolled by. Some songs are so evocative of a time and place, for me "Miss You" is one of those happy few.
Along with “Angie”, more songs on the album goats head soup. “Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)”, “Silver Train”, “ Star Star”, if you do “Star Star”, you’ll have to bleep out a lot of the songs, so listen to it on your own.
when i came home from my dear friend's memorial service i put on the rolling stones' song "as tear go by" and cried my eyes out. they were his favorite band. you want your heart ripped out of your chest, listen to that one.
Another 70s song you will probably like is Hurricane by Bob Dylan. It's about the middle weight contender, Rubin (Hurricane) Carter who was wrongly convicted of murder. Dylan matches the story with great lyrics and tune.
Pistol shots rang in the bar room ! 71 year old scoucer here & my fist recorc i ever bought was the one with winterlude i think ?? hck of a long time ago.
The Stones are one of those bands where I don't have a single favorite song. They got so many great ones. I'm not sure I have a single favorite album. Let it Bleed, maybe. Today anyway. Tomorrow, probably something different.
Have you done 'Shattered" yet? Or, 'Beast of Burden'? Like everyone is saying, and it's true, there are so many songs and we have the time so, Let's get into it!
My name is angie and u have no clue how many ppl sang this to me i even woke from surgery with the dr singing this to me but i was named after this song its the story of my life
🎸💯 The Stone's "Angie" is very cool‼🔥 BizMatik, man, you've gotta check out their "Emotional Rescue" and "Shattered"‼You'll dig them‼"Beast of Burden" is STILL one of my very favorite Rolling Stones cuts‼☮ ❤ 🎶
I had a girl once, love of my life. As things were falling apart (as they often do), I told her how much I loved her. She looked at me and said, "Love don't pay the bills." That was it...the end. 😐
Heck do them all! One or two a week!! We have Moonlight Mile, Memory Motel, Loving Cup ( my favorite) Dead Flowers, Till The Next Time We Say Goodbye, I Got The Blues , Winter. You can go on and on those are their Deep Cuts . They are unbelievable. Listen to them all!
For some more great Stones ballads, Biz, check out "Ruby Tuesday", "Lady Jane", "No Expectations", "Wild Horses", "Moonlight Mile", "Let It Loose", "Winter", "Till The Next Goodbye" and "Waiting On A Friend".
Great review. I'm 69 yrs old. Back in the day there were three bands on the top tier. The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, Tier two, in my opinion, Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Cream, Moody Blues, Emerson Lake and Palmer, The Animals, Deep Purple. After that: Steely Dan, The Band; not to mention solo artists like Elvis, Dylan and on, and on, and on. What's your list? The British invasion was real, that's for sure.
Here’s the story. Back in the Swinging 60s, Angie (not her real name) was a beautiful London model that had a relationship with Mick Jagger. She became a heroin addict, got fat and her face looked horrible. As the 60s wore on, she pretty much self destructive, no longer a model, spent what money was left on heroin. Mick Jagger could no longer keep their relationship together and had to move on. Later, he heard she tried to commit suicide and saw her depressed as she was no longer model (a victim of the 60s drug scene). So, Mick wrote the song to be encouraging, to a junkie that lost hope: “when will those clouds all disappear”, “you’re beautiful”, ain’t it good to be alive”, “there ain’t a woman that comes close to you”, etc. When it came out who the song was dedicated to, I remember her being a famous model and socialite. Then I saw her recent pictures and OMG, she easily looked like a homeless junkie. I’m not saying her name, out of respect. The 60s was an amazing exciting time (I was there), but some partied too hard, some blew their money (Ie., The Monkees, and other bands), and some just weren’t popular anymore as the times changed. I admire Mick Jagger for being so giving in writing this song for her.
great reaction to a legendary band. Mick Jagger is considered to be the best front man in rocknroll history! 230 million records sold pretty much says so.
You gotta listen to "Fool to Cry" or "Love in Vein". Considering the Stones are considered the greatest Rock band, most of their best song's aren't Rock.
All I can say is you've got to be a brother from a different mother. I grew up a little white kid in the suburbs and for the grace of God James Brown was my first influence. No color TV no color distinction in my life. I saw the Stones in 75 with Rufus and Chaka and the only thing that would've made it better is you being there. You get it ❗😎
I'm more of an early Stones fan because of Brian Jones. He brought exotic instrumentation to their songs. My favorites are "Amanda Jones", "Mother's Little Helper", and "Child of the Moon". With that being said, the post Jones work I like is anything from "Exile on Main Street", "Some Girls", and "Shattered".
"Goat's Head Soup" is a really underrated album. A very heavy song "Doo Doo Doo.... Heartbreaker" is on it. Deep lyrics, about race relations. Check it out.
I agree with others recommending Wild Horses, but I also recommend Can't You Hear Me Knocking.
"Knocking" is just too good
Knocking is great, monkey man too :)
HaHahahahaha a little spectrum in your choice? Hey try “Party Doll” by Jagger . Think Texas dance hall. Whoduthunk ?
Two of their best - guitar wise - hide your love from this album or time waits for no one!! Mick Taylor on guitar!!!!
I’d recommend all 26 studio albums. This is the greatest rock and roll band in the world.
Nicky Hopkins on piano makes this song even more beautiful. 🎹
My name is Angie. When I was little my uncle, who plays guitar and sings, use to sing this to me all the time. I love it!
I have loved this song since it came on the radio in 1973. I was 13. I think it’s incredibly beautiful.
Miss You is a great Rolling Stones song, they have a huge discography
could do a whole channel just for them it is so deep.
I agree with David Miss You

Absolutely, all greats!
Listen to Mike!
The whole song is a beautiful, wrenching cry.

Angie is a nickname for heroin and its about Keiths struggle with heroin and kicking the habit for his son..

I hate to keep repeating myself about the Stones, but this is one of the best. I really hope you continue.
The Stones are the true GOATS of music.

The Rolling Stones have a stupid amount of good songs it’s wild
Can't go wrong with the Stones!!! This one is such a vibe! Really love it!❤🌞❤

Wild horses is a great song by the stones
I never hesitated to get my Rolling Stones tattoo. They will be great and relevant until the end of time. I'm glad they are moving up on your list.
I love slow, bluesy Stones. This is beautiful.
Fool to Cry, Heaven, Miss You; any of these.
Edit: Back Street Girl, also.
Fool to cry is great for a reaction vid
@@Stonecrow25 Agree strongly; and Waiting on a Friend; Angie; Heaven; Backstreet Girl.
It's insane how this band can do ALL kinds of music and do it all so well. They will never be beat. Not ever.
Torn and Freyed! It’s one of those songs so good most people don’t know it. Tumbling Dice! Street Fighting Man! Sweet Virginia! Shine a Light! Dead Flowers! Loving Cup! Man there are a ton of great stones songs to dive into.

The great Nicky Hopkins on piano.
The song and a lot of their discography is over 50 years old. Still has the power to impress new listeners. That's the power of their music no?
Along with “Angie”, more songs on the album goats head soup. “Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)”, “Silver Train”, “ Star Star”, if you do “Star Star”, you’ll have to bleep out a lot of the songs, so listen to it on your own.
Good selection. I always call it Star Fucker, with out shame. ;>)
Great reaction once again. Absolutely love this song. Its beautiful. Keep it going! Great work as always. I'll suggest 'Miss You' next.
The greatest RRG because they've survived the ultimate test TIME.

Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker) by the Stones is worth a listen even though it's 50 years old.
I have to say, this has always been my favorite song from the Stones ♥️
OK u gotta do Wild Horses.
"Gimme Shelter" is my fav, this would be 3 after "Wild Horses" not sure if you checked it out.
Anything Stones I'm down for. ❤👍🏽
Biz, Moonlight Mile is the band's best ballad, imo. Also try reacting to Sway, Bitch, or When the Whip Comes Down. You won't be disappointed.
Have you done 'Shattered" yet? Or, 'Beast of Burden'? Like everyone is saying, and it's true, there are so many songs and we have the time so, Let's get into it!
From an underrated album. So many songs to choose from by the Stones, from all eras.
The song is the best. The violin and piano together is beautiful.
Under my thumb, stones...check out the album ,,Some Girls
I believe it's about David Bowie's wife great tune🎶
It's not but she dined out on it for a while!
The dark one from Goats Head Soup is "Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)"
Been thinking about this one for you ever since you said how much you like acoustic guitar work:
This is the gold standard!
Heard this when I was young I remember understanding the song completely and tearing up powerful song 🎵 🤧

Moonlight Mile is a great song, but is the last song on the album "Sticky Fingers"

FOOL TO CRY, SISTER MORPHINE, LOVE IS STRONG, DEAD FLOWERS.
One of my not only favorite stone’s albums but favorite albums period. You should check out 100 years ago.Every song is really great.
HEARTBREAKER is on this same album.
Beautiful song ❣️
Stones were my go to group in the 60's
Try "Girl With Faraway Eyes" one of my favorite Stones songs. It's definitely a "different" style for them. 🤔😎
Or Dead Flowers
I had a girl once, love of my life. As things were falling apart (as they often do), I told her how much I loved her. She looked at me and said, "Love don't pay the bills." That was it...the end. 😐

Yo biz. Anotha one. Dude been a minute since I heard this jam. Great song
This song went #1 in 1973 for a reason
The Stones have some great, classic ballads.
Beast of Burden
Loving Cup
Fool to Cry
MOONLIGHT MILE is the BEST
Still my favorite Stones song, out of 200.
It's so beautiful ❤️
Legend has it Angela Bowie caught David and Mick together. I seem to remember her on Mike Douglas or something.
I've been waiting quite awhile for you to get into the Stones
You should try, Memory Motel.
You are right, $$!
It’s always Charlie that gets people. Check out ‘Sister Morphine’ as well. When he comes in it’s such a badass drop.
Let It Bleed.👍
Wild Horses, Tumbling Dice, Heartbreaker and Bitch are top notch Strolling Bones tunes... 😎
Keith Richards wrote this song about heroin at the height of his addiction.
For some more great Stones ballads, Biz, check out "Ruby Tuesday", "Lady Jane", "No Expectations", "Wild Horses", "Moonlight Mile", "Let It Loose", "Winter", "Till The Next Goodbye" and "Waiting On A Friend".

The hi-hat after whispering "Angie".
"Bitch", please. It is not a song about a certain type of personality, but how life can be like that.
Shine a light - sweet Virginia - Torn and frayed
"fool to cry" was a hit for them here in the uk in the 70s, different from most of their tracks.
Another song…very meanigful even today…is Doo Doo Doo Doo Heartbreaker.
Same album as Angie in 1973
My Angie's name was Marion.
Liked your reaction. 👍🏻
Woohoo! You nailed this one ! So good. Please please please do Can't You Hear Me Knocking next.
great reaction to a legendary band. Mick Jagger is considered to be the best front man in rocknroll history! 230 million records sold pretty much says so.
