You should check out Ticking from the same album. It's an obscure track, but it tells a very harrowing and relevant story and it's mostly just Elton with his piano used to amazing effect.
Music is powerful, magical, and healing. SO every time I hear of school music program being cut, I burn up inside...we are cheating our children out of the right to have something better than what's shoved down their throats by the media. BizMatik gets it here...I was a music teacher....
Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but some of the Beach Boys visited the studio during the recording of this album and provided the back-up vocal harmonies.
Ray Cooper, one of the best percussionists ever, on that tambourine. Elton once did a cool tour, where the first half was just he and his piano, the second half was Elton and Ray who had 20-30 percussion instruments. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Elton was newly sober and was fantastic.
Yes...And check out the 2002 performance "Royal Opera House." Nigel Olsen and Davey Johnstone performing with him for the first time in many, many years...Wonderful performance.
You must check out the live performance "Dont let the sun go down on me, 2002 "Royal Opera House" Featuring original drummer, extraordinaire, Nigel Olsen and original guitarist, Davey Johnstone ...unreal performance. Must see.
I don't know if you messed up that story or not LOL, but your words really resonated with me. The song I have known for years now has a deeper meaning for me. Your timing is impeccable and your words afterward were exactly what I needed today. Thanks for the clarity! I have a friend who could really stand to talk with someone like you.
Elton is on a different level but Bernie helped get him there with his amazing lyrics. If I had to choose a favourite Elton song it would be Daniel . Don’t think you’ve reviewed it yet but it is simply beautiful.
I was never much of a fan of piano forward musicians/bands, but Elton is the exception for me. That said, by far my favorite album of his is Tumbleweed Connection.
Thank God you're playing the original. Elton and George Michael did a duet a few years ago, it was fine, but I've been longing to hear the song from 1974, the duet has been over played by reactors without exploring the original. This #1 song was on the top of the charts 2 months after I graduated high school, playing on the radio, when Tricky Dick Nixon was resigning FINALLY because of Watergate lies. Don't get me started on today...Jesus...
I recommend 2 Elton John classics that weren't hits. Mona Lisas and the Mad Hatters is one of Elton John's greatest songs both musically and lyrically. A personal, lesser known couple of songs I love are We All Fall in Love Sometimes and Curtains. You have to listen to these songs back to back as they go together. There is a fabulous live version of these 2 songs on UA-cam from 2007. Just love it to death.
💙🌞💙 Tom Petty quote that I LOVE... "Music is probably the one real magic I have encountered in my life. There's not some trick involved with it. It's pure and it's real. It moves, it heals, it communicates and does all these incredible things”.
UA-cam, the five foolish virgins. It is similar to the first line of this song. I can't light, no more of your darkness, is like the 5 foolish virgins asking the 5 wise virgins for oil.
THE OTHER HIT ON THIS ALBUM ( CARIBOU ) BIZ WAS : THE BITCH IS BACK😊THE LAST TRACK IS A GR888888 TRACK AND A SUPER GOOD PIANO BANGER CALLED : TICKING 👍YOU GOTTA DO THAT!
DUDE, I KINDA FEEL BAD CAUSE I HAVEN'T CHATTED WITH YOU FOR AWHILE! 😮OF COURSE I WANNA HEAR MORE ELTON💯, BUT YOU KNOW THAT BIZ! HE'S BEEN MY FAVORITE ROCK ARTIST FOR ( 55 ) YEARS NOW SO! 😊AND SO MANY WAYS YOU CAN DO HIM BIZ, HITS, DEEP TRACKS, TITLE TRACKS, ETC!!! THEY WERE QUITE UNIQUE THE WAY THEY DID IT😊, BERNIE WOULD WRITE THE LYRICS, SEND THEM OR BRING THEM TO ELTON AND THEN ELTON WROTE VERYYYYYY QUICKLY THE MUSIC I.E VERSE, CHORUS, BRIDGE, MEDLEY 👍I HOPE ALL IS GOOD FOR YOU BIZ, GODSPEED AND STAY SAFE, TRUMP WON IN A LANDSLIDE, MAGA MAGA MAGA! NO GHOSTINGGGGG! LOLOL PEACE MY FRIEND! THINGS CAN ONLYYYY IMPROVE AND GET BETTER SOON 👍
Always my Fav. Elton John song, and I own every album he ever made until like 2005 or Peachtree Road after the Songs from the West Coast album he went south imho, his voice just is not the same. But this is far better than his Duet with George Michael.
❤
Dang I had forgotten how beautiful this was.
Enjoyed your take on song
And Someone saved my life today about 6 or 7 minutes of great storytelling
So Good! You must watch him with George Michael Live . Try Believe
One of his very best. Just stunning on so many levels.
Fantastic reaction....great analysis of Bernie's lyrics.
Gorgeous Elton tune! One of his best! :-)
george michael also does an incredible version of this song with elton.
My favorite Elton song.♥
This song took on a little extra meaning for me after a health scare.
My favorite EJ song. Carl Wilson from The Beach Boys and Toni Tennille provide great backing vocals.
Yes!!❤
I believe they were arranged by Bruce Johnson
Yes , he did drop the mike on this ❤😊😅
Also check out his song Someone Saved My Life Tonite. It's about his attempted suicide
This song forever brings me back to being a little kid, summer and when life was magical!!! Timeless music!!!
I believe this song was nominated for a Grammy that year.
Yeah the George Michael and Elton duet is my favorite version.
You should check out Ticking from the same album.
It's an obscure track, but it tells a very harrowing and relevant story and it's mostly just Elton with his piano used to amazing effect.
Soooo good. This entire LP played nonstop in my teen years!
Elton's vocals and Nigel's drums, soooo good. ✌🏽
Same here!!

Musical genius!
Biz! Great to see you
Great reaction!
Amazing song!! The schlyrics, the instrumentation and of course Elton's voice! My arm went up at the end too!
My favorite non-Tumbleweed Conection Elton song...

First time I’ve hear this in many many years ago.Happy and Sad times were coming together, but then I mess that up.But I still stand along with God.!!!
I just allow a fragment of your life to wander free.

Thank you! The fabulous Tower of Power brass and organ on this track too! There are other versions out there but this one is sublime.
Yep... i jammed it
Should do "Dirty Little Girl" off Yellow Brick Road. It was never a single for obvious titular reasons, but it's a banger
HERE.

Yo, you gotta check out this song live w/George Michael great version!❤
Listen to Captian Fantastic another awesome song
Around the Mid 70s Elton was the biggest selling Artist in the world, even more dominant than Taylor Swift is now.
This is big production. Obviously Elton inspired by Phil Spectors the wall of sound here.
rocketman 🚀 babe

Horns by Tower of Power
He sounds close to Lennon Taupin

Elton does not have one of the best voices but his music with Bernie's lyrics are magic!
