"Angie" went straight to the top of the charts when it was released in August of 1973. It must have gotten a lot of radio airplay throughout the fall and winter of that year because I remember it as a winter song that I would hear on the radio at weekend family gatherings at my grandmother's house back when I was a kid. "In his 2010 memoir Life, Richards said that he had chosen the name at random when writing the song -- before he knew that his baby would be named Angela or even knew that his baby would be a girl -- and that the song 'was not about any particular person.'" (wikipedia) The Stones remastered their 'Goats Head Soup' album from 1973 this year and it sounds great. After "Angie" check out "Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)" and "Winter" when you can.
Great reaction Scribe! The rumor is David Bowie's wife, Angie Bowie, found David and Mick Jagger in bed together and agreed to not make a press release if they wrote a song about her.
@@robertsaul234 on the album Jagger gets writing credit too, but Keith probably did write the bulk of it. Other rumors said this was about Keith’s daughter whose middle name was Angela but Keith has conflicting stories about it first saying it wasn’t about anyone then saying it was about his daughter. The Bowie Jagger rumor is interesting though because David was openly bi, his wife Angie was into open relationships and if Keith wrote the song about the time that supposedly affair happened why would Jagger get a writing credit? It’s speculation but it’s interesting. Btw Scribe, Bowie and Jagger did a remake of a Motown classic Dancing In The Street. I grew up in The D so I prefer the original but if you want to see the two of them together with their clothes on you can watch that video!
I also heard that part of her alimony settlement from David Bowie was contingent upon her never publicly stating that she found them sleeping naked in bed together. I wouldn't think that this was something that David Bowie would mind though.
Ok well everybody loves rolling stones, led zeppelin, but you want to know what professional guitar players in my day listen too..its a secret but I'm going to spill the beans..don't tell anybody scrib..Robin Trower..really any of his song are mind blowing. You like big voices and excellent guitar playing he the man..try maybe "day of the eagle" or too rolling stone" or "bridge of sighs" it is the hardest to play scorching lead guitar and and sing with a big soulful voice and pull it off but he does it with ease..met him at a party in 78 with my dad in L.A we all jammed for days that night..lov ya got ta goooo. 🤘
Love all the colours you’ve got going on with this! Doesn’t this track kinda remind us of ‘Georgia’ by Ray Charles? There’s s version of this song I know I’ve seen before with with Jagger playing keyboard. People assumed the lyrics were directed towards Angie Bowie, but ... nope. 🤷🏻♀️
Noticed on several reactors that the video is often not synched with the audio by a second or so, i would guess many of your viewers are familiar with the video but i hope your only experience with the video isnt unsynched.
Here is the deal. Mick learned how to sing misery blues from the old share cropper himself,. Yes muddy waters. At that times some well known English arrest begin to sing blues songs straight from the Mississippi Delta. Zager, Beatles, and special notice to led zeppelin, who were recently sued for singing blues tunes with you payout to the original blues men from America'. Led zeppelin didn't even bother to change the words.... And Mick j. .
Like your new background..It looks like a spanish prison cell.🤣.I'm about to play this song on my guitar my daughter was named after this song..love it
I still haven't figured out why your videos are out of sync with the audio,it use to be perfectly cued then about a month and half ago everything seems delayed. 🤔
I was like 10 in 1974 (this was 73) and my girlfriend's name was Angie, I still remembering kissing her in my Treehouse, LOL.
Any clue how Angie is doing in 2020?
Yes, any clue of Angie now? We wanna know! 💘

Oh man, I ❤ this. One of my favorite Stones songs. 🙌🏻
SC, You'll love their "Wild Horses", another beautiful, softer song by the Stones!
Yes
I totally agree
Angie...one of my favorite Stones tunes and not played as often as many of their others.
Coming of age song, you hit the nail on the head there. I was 14 when this came out. It still takes me back there when I hear it.
one of my all time favorite songs...my name IS Angie :D
Jagger calls this song, and others like it, “Kiss Off” songs. Stones do a lot of love them and leave them tunes. This being their most famous.
Haunting and beautiful great stones song
Try Heartbreaker from the same Rolling Stone album called Goat's Head Soup. As a matter of fact pick any song on that album.
Their best work was with Mick Taylor
Ken Menge goats head soup is gold
Oh, man... this just takes me back to my high school dating days. This was the soundtrack to how many breakups?
Gimme Shelter, Rocks Off, Ruby Tuesday, She's A Rainbow
Lovely song. The sweeping orchestral strings make it heavenly.
BRILLIANT!!!!!!.....You should check out Wild Horses....lol...how you gonna be fine while stretching lol, love the new background with the strat style guitar
"Ruby Tuesday" & "As Tears Go By" - musts!
LOVING that you're diving deep into the Rolling Stones catalog and enjoying it!
Love me some rolling stones still the greatest band ever!!

My favorite stones song. It is better without a vid
It’s about heroin according to keef 😉
The most beautiful breakup song ever.
Seriously would like to see a reaction to the Stones' "Bitch" - a song that never got as much airplay as it deserved
That’s how I feel about “Sway”
"Wild Horses", "As Tears go by".
Gorgeous Nicky Hopkins piano.
Yes, I think Mick Taylor had something to do with it also

This is probably the 4th song I learned to play on guitar.
This one and Wild Horses are my fave Karaoke songs, while my faves overall by them remain Beast of Burden and Miss You.
" Heart Breaker" or " Tumbling Dice " are a couple of Stones tunes that I believe You may enjoy. I sure do !!
You won't have this freedom, once you're in the service. Word..
The Stones have a few great goodbye lover ballads -- Til the Next Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday, Wild Horses and Love in Vain

Mick Jagger was heavily influenced by Gospel, Delta Blues and Country music. And I think every British artists was influenced by Elvis.
