    I’m so glad someone took the time to make a detailed video on this cam. It is an amazing cam to run from a stage 2 to a stage 3. I’m partial to Woods.

    Is that dip a tuning issue? That’s really the only place there is any significant incremental difference other than a little on the very top end. I have seen a graph of the XE22 vs stock and it is very impressive. At the hit of the throttle it’s an immediate 20 ft*lbs and gap increases to 5700 rpm where the incremental is 40 ft*lbs. that means it just pulls harder as rpm increases....looks like fun! Nice informative video.

      That session was the same cam. The first tuner sucked! The second tuner got this much more out of it! If you compared this to a stock cam the difference would be dramatic. Even with the old tune, it was a BEAST compared to the stock grind. This was also with the baffle installed, and a 105 degree dyno room, and VERY humid. Worst possible conditions. I loved the cam. Very little throttle required to leave everyone in the dust. Open the throttle and it became violet! Great cam!

    I was thinking of adding the S&S 465 torque cam but now you have me curious on the 22XE. Hopefully more HP and more TQ. My only worries, I don't want my S&S 2 into 1 any louder than it already is and don't want to give to give up any low and mid TQ since I mainly ride twisties pretty hard with my Fat bob. I also have a RGS for when I want to cruse slowly.

      Hey Gonzalo, you motivated me to update my recent Dyno session. Please click "more" under the title of my video for my update. The bike is not overall LOUDER. It is however much more THROATY and powerful sounding. It sounds a thousand times better than a stock cam any day without melting everyone's ears out of their heads. This cam with the proper tune is a torque monster while still providing big power up top. The MPG is better than stock while providing a big increase in power. I cannot see how anyone could be unhappy with this cam on a street bike.

      @@MrSolidman48 Thanks for the update! getting ready to order mine from Fuel Moto. So I hope my guy in town can do s good a tune as CR after my install.
      At the bottom of your update you say "The cam is actually shaking the floor and is MUCH louder!" contradicts you saying "The bike is not overall LOUDER" also "shaking the floor" means what? more vibrations in the handle bars and throughout the the bike? mine already vibrates like hell compared to my RGS.
      Appreciate the update!

    • @MrSolidman48

      @@gonzalopalacio2653 Let me clarify: It is much louder IN PERSON than what the phone picks up. The video does not provide the realism of standing next to the bike. The floor in that Garage is wood....so you could feel the motor pulses in the floor. At idle with a performance cam a motor idles "rougher". Some call it "camming". That does NOT translate to vibration unless you have a solid engine mount. A rubber engine mount eliminates the vibration on "baggers" . Softails utilize Internal engine balancers and solid mounts. Off of idle and cruising I do not notice any "buzzing" or "vibration" coming through the bars. Of course....if you LUG a V-twin (too low of rpm for a gear) any V-twin will be vibrate and be very unhappy. Your welcome for the update :)

      Thank you Shawn :) No sir I did not use a check valve and it works beautifully. If you click the "show more" in the comments section above I do some "splainin" on this. What bike do you have and which cam did you decide on?

      @@MrSolidman48 I gotcha , if anyone needs a check valve I accidentally bought like a hundred or the supplier sent me that many .I have a 2018 heritage classic .I went with the 22x mostly because of the lower amount of cubes from my 107. Also fuel moto says the Softail exhaust is to short . Guess the scavenging isn't as good as the touring models frame is longer? So I'm short the 22x does a little better in torque where I ride ,22xe is more to the right of HP Hill. Now iam looking at the 124 kit lol

      @@shawn9878 Well Shawn.....when the world ends....get you a high powered sling-shot and shoot all the Zombies in the eye with a check valve!! I bet they wont mess with you anymore! lol It sounds like you made the perfect Cam choice for your ride Shawn. If you need more power the 124 kit will definitely do it! All it takes is KASH brother! lol My wallet is extremely happy that I am satisfied with my power level! Me and a newer Mustang with a loud exhaust were playing in town the other day through numerous lights. It was comical each light because I would jump out 2-3 car lengths immediately with about 1/4 throttle. 2nd gear I would roll on almost 1/2 throttle and just smash him every time! Every light he would keep revving his motor and it was a waste of gas on his part! I have to admit.....that was FUN!! lol Good luck and practice with that sling shot!

      Hey Ken! THANK YOU for the awesome comments very much! Step 1. Get outta Callie!!! lol Awesome state RUINED by political hacks :( I had to look up that exhaust...my 2 cents: The upward sweep look nice....however.....it IS going to direct the sound upward.....so it is going to be louder than pointing straight back. With my system the sound is always 5 feet "behind me". The D&D system uses a shorter muffler assembly......and that design ALWAYS loses torque over a longer one. You might gain a few ponies at the top...but how often do you ride at 5-6K? With a cam that loses a touch at the bottom, and an exhaust that loses a touch at the bottom....thats a fair amount of torque loss. With an exhaust that creates a strong bottom end....you will not notice any loss with the increased power/torque of the cam. In fact I gained a bunch! Thank you again for the compliment on the sound Ken. Every time I ride it....I fall in love with it over again! Not too loud.....but VERY deep and angry! LOVE IT! When yours is done please show it off to us.....Merry Christmas.....Gene :)

    Hey Gene, Nice color combo.. what is the total lift on this cam? I been seeing 555, but didn't think it was that high.. I been comparing with a Zipper 468 which has a lift of about .470, for my 107 bagger with 2-1-2 exhaust. I dont think you mention what displacement you have..but suspect you have a 114. Yea, Did you try any Fuel moto can tunes first? I already did my own Trans cover vent too, not other venting though. Remapping they can change your overall throttle position relative to fuel percentage.. so it can be diffcult to judge throttle crispness. Yea 44 mpg is good. Currently I will get 45- 48 mpg without my stage 2 yet installed

    • @MrSolidman48
      @MrSolidman48  Рік тому +1

      Per my Cam card - .470 intake and exhaust, 212 and 234 duration respectively, 100 and 105 centerline. It is a 114. I has been dyno tuned twice. The second time by Cycle Rama in Tampa. The first tune had a lot of throttle acceleration dialed in. The second tune has none dialed in and is much better. The throttle response strictly comes from the tune of the motor. I have not tested the mpg yet with the second tune, but it definitely uses less fuel and makes more power. Riding styles are critical when comparing mpg. I ride sporty and not "grandpa". I am very happy with the power and performance of this cam.

    • @ut1004bp
      @ut1004bp Рік тому

      @@MrSolidman48 well its got the same lift as the Zipper 468, but By the seat of the pants, Would you gauge the 22XE as more of a torque or hp cam result?

    • @MrSolidman48
      @MrSolidman48  Рік тому

      @@ut1004bp It is definitely both. It is at the top of the torque cam rating as far as i am concerned. I forgot to mention the dyno operator tried a 6th gear pull and the clutch would not hold around 4k. This is a new bike with much stronger springs. With a better clutch and cooler conditions the number would be MUCH improved. Remember as well the exhaust has a converter AND a baffle. I personally love the cam.

  • @gary8399
    @gary8399 2 роки тому +1

    Thanks for sharing as I am back and forth on which cam and always bounce back to the 22xe.
    I have been tuning on a friends 2017 Ultraclassic 107" with the S&S 475 and she will pull front wheel everytime on a roll in 1st gear while completely off the clutch as well as lift wheel in 2nd and of course the idle sound just can't be beat and that is what is beating me up.
    This XE is supposed to be better and sure hope so. Only bad thing I can say about the 475 is that it truly makes you run up to very high rpms because she is still pulling and wanting more.... I would much rather have my power come in sooner and peak out sooner.
    This heavy Ultra 107" is a freak as she runs too good. Don't know if it would beat my much lighter 107" softail stage 1 but it wouldn't surprise me.

      Hey Gary I too went back and forth between these cams: S&S 475, Redshift 472 and Woods 22XE. In my research the S&S gave up too much on the bottom, the Redshift is quirky to tune....and the 22XE appeared to be just perfect. I can say with the performance I am getting from the bottom up.....along with outstanding mileage....I DEFINITELY chose the right grind. I have only seen 6K a couple of times and the front end is up and pulling VERY hard. I baby the throttle in lower gears because it is so snappy. I have not tried a hard roll-on in the lower gears.......because I KNOW it will either fry the tire or the front end will go airborne! I can honestly say....you would NOT be dissapointed with a 22XE. Let us know how it goes brother....Gene :)

      Sounds like we are on exact same page. Will let ya know how she turns out. And as far as pulling front wheel, nothing radical just a quick 1/2 throttle blip in 1st gear just rolling along and front wheel pops up every time.😂🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

      @@gary8399 They say great minds think alike! I cant wait to see how pleased you will be. Are you installing the cam yourself? I bought the kit from Fuel Moto, along with the fueling Cam sprocket that fits much tighter. (supposed to eliminate a 4 degree timing swing) I also used the S&S Cam chain tensioner. (More oiling and stouter than stock) I went for a ride earlier.......mid 70's here...just perfect. I paid attention to how little throttle that I truly need. If you go past 1/8th throttle....you better be ready for it and be hanging on.....cause she is tearing ass! It is so fun to just completely distance traffic without even trying. My Scat Pack Challenger is like that. Anything past 1/4 throttle you are frying tires or flying. I love that torque feeling, Tons of power on tap and ready......aaahhhhhh 😁😁

    • @MrSolidman48

      Hi Jason. I recently performed a "Compensator Delete" on my Primary. This eliminates the failure prone Compensator and the disastrous results that can follow. I installed an Evolution Industries 34 tooth sprocket instead. Aside from the benefit of solving that problem, other advantages are over 5 lbs less reciprocating weight on the crankshaft (HUGE), longer bearing and seal life, (because of weight reduction) and quicker acceleration. However, it does away with the vibration absorbing benefit of a Compensator. I must admit that I was concerned about this! I am very pleased to say that it feels EXACTLY the same as before! I cannot tell the difference when starting from a dead stop.....period. (very happy) The Cam does not impart any jerkiness either. If you experience any jerkiness, I would consider a worn clutch, riding style, clutch engagement, speed/gear selection. The ONLY difference that I can tell is when basically lugging the motor at lower speeds (1800-2000) at times you can feel a slight complaint from the drive train. The fix is to select 1 gear lower and cruise at 2200+ and it is completely smooth. I will do this ALL day long for the benefits the sprocket provides. The ONLY people that I would NOT recommend this Mod to are people that basically abuse their machines. If you do hard burnouts, wheelies or power shifts that "shock" the transmission.....stay with the compensator....but go to an (Iron Horse). All this being said.......with a lot more power/ good tune.....there is a slight learning curve to control this power. On my Softail, I can take off as smooth as anyone. I can also crank the power and get with it right meow! lol Hope this helps Jason.

      Thank you Sir! M8's have only 1 cam. After a ride for about 10 minutes.....it is super "lopey". Almost sounds like an alcohol motor! The phone captures only about 10% of it. I have to say it sounds outstanding. I would describe it as "controlled anger". It is by no means quiet....but also not needlessly loud. As far as the attention factor.....it's night and day when I pull in a station. Also in stop and go traffic. Stock.....almost zero looks or attention. Now.....people are looking before I even get parked. It really sounds awesome:) As for the vibration.....heck yeah there's more.....it shakes the ground! lol But...at about 2,700+ it's nice and smooth. At 3K and up it's smooth like a V8. Also it's not so much that it's uncomfortable at lower rpm's.....actually.....it increases the fun factor by 100%! Gene :)

    You cost yourself more hp with that pipe…

    • @MrSolidman48
      @MrSolidman48  2 роки тому

      Thanks Justen for the comment. Technically you are right. 2 into 1 pipes are the best overall power producers on a V-twin. The larger the pipe diameter and the shorter the primary muffler the more you raise peak HP. (generally above 5K) Also considering that you have enough cam, fuel and timing to take advantage of it. However...it is also at the expense of more hp and TORQUE below that. If one vehicle has tons of torque and hp down low.....and the other has less......and only 5-10 hp above 5K......the first bike will reach the goal line first easily. In my 40+ years experience with engines, tuning , and drag racing.....5-10 HP at the very top of a rpm range is basically not noticeable. However.......losing a lot of torque and HP from the bottom up is EXTREMELY noticeable. In my experience .....I will sacrifice the obsessive noise, power loss and driveability issues for a properly tuned combination ANY day of the week. If you have a RACE ONLY machine.....(trailered to the track) that only operates at HIGH RPM....then a completely different setup is in order. (super low gearing, big valves, ports, heads, huge cam, high compression, loud and large exhaust) Honestly.....my Softail pulls so hard from Idle to 6K....I do not want or need any more power! Thanks for the comment Justen :)
