This is probably the most comprehensive cam shootout video I've ever seen. Only thing that would have made it better for me personally is if it was a 117 with a 2 to 1 exhaust because that's what I have on my bike.
I think this really sealed the deal for me on the cr483. It really is a performer.
Thanks Dave for all the hard work.

So I ran an S&S 475 until a barn fire smoked all my toys last year. I installed a CR 483 in my new ride a month ago. I said it rips like the 475 and feels like a tractor compared to the 475. This just proves it seeing that curve.

@@59poppNyou'd probably prefer the CR485. I really wish it would've been included in this video. It's got REALLY close to the same bottom end of the CR483, matches it in the mid-range, but carries it out to the higher end a lot better. It's easily the best overall cam out there in my opinion

Dave - you rock; Awesome video series. Extremely informative with precise details. I could go on and on, but will summarize; imo "Epic"! Would be awesome to throw a big bore kit on Golden Rod, keeping the 4.500" stock stroke (most popular M8 stroke). The 114/117-to-128, 114/117-to-130 (T-Man), and the HD SE 114/117-to-131 kits have been around for awhile, so any of these would work. With the recently released S&S 132 (4.320" bore x 4.500" stroke), and S&S 136 (4.320" bore x 4.625" stroke) kits, personally I'd like to see a 132 build (stock heads, SE 64mm Intake & TB, 5.5 injectors). Few cams that would be very interesting to test: S&S 550 cam (my take: like a S&S 475 cam but with more lift); S&S 540 torque cam; S&S 590 power cam; Andrews M554; Star Racing 3/4 Race Cam (585 lift), and others. Then, up the ante by doing "head work" and perhaps also testing Star Racing two full race cams (615 cam & 627 cam), along with perhaps few others. Crane cams for M8???
Building my '23 Road Glide ST presently. Going from stock 117, 10.2:1 cr to a 132 using S&S 132 cylinders (4.32" bore) w/forged 11:1 pistons; S&S M8 case with Darkhorse blueprinted bottom end & flywheels (Carillo rods naturally).; full S&S Top End kit (roller rocker arms, etc.). Plan to have Branch 'O Keefe do some work to the heads, and plan to run the S&S 550 or Andrews M554 cam (undecided right now). Other upgrades include the S&S piston jets, HD fan added to the OE oil cooler plus already have the secondary engine oil cooler on my Road Glide now (Ultracool twin fan cooler, & their oil filter, tucked in between the CVO lower side fairing, etc. Running the Trask M8 checkvent to ventilate the bottom end. I use DynoJet Powervision PV3B for tuning with 18mm wideband O2's. Cu rrent exhaust system is the S&S full length 2-1 Sidewinder "race version" with db reducer installed.
Keep'em coming; excellent info & videos. Thank you! TM, P&A Rep., out west.

Wow lots of information here, hard to make sense of it all… so I’ll ask a (stupid) question perhaps, I have a 2022 street Glide st that I plan to put rinehart 4.5” slimline duals from headers back onto it along with the Harley tuner which will be done by my dealership cause I’m not good at that kind of stuff, because they have copper accents that go with my bike and will be a little better sounding than stock I think and my question is what cams do you think would work well with this without having to do lifters and oil sump pumps and such to get better performance in the 3000 to 4000 rpm range or so that seems to be the place I use most at the moment…sorry for the lengthy question but would appreciate your input on best options for me…thnx in advance for your opinion..oh I have subscribed to your channel 👍🏼

Great video - thank you. Could I ask please? Do you think the TTS 150 cam would be a good choice for my 2018 HD Tri Glide Ultra? Bike has a Stage 1 kit fitted (HD parts from my local HD dealer) and the majority of riding is 2 up with luggage touring here in the UK and abroad. I am keen to have more pulling ability for hills, overtakes etc in the low to mid rpm range. No looking currently to change anything else such as cam plate etc unless your advice is to do so in conjunction with a different cam.

David, first greatly appreciate the details and explanations! extremely insightful! Now, my question, since your pump gas-timing comment on the RS468 (which was my original pick) now has me thinking either the Feuling 465 or RS472 ( I like the RS472 curve over the WM8-22Xe) which would you recommend for 107ci M8, factory header, Mk45

Amazing video. Thankyou Dave. From Alberta Canada. Glad I went with the S&S 475. 2 years now trouble free. Easy on the valve train. Some people say it’s outdated but it’s still one of your favourite cams. For what reason is it one of your go to cams? Reliability perhaps mixed with all around good performance?

Very in depth thank you from a twin cam 103 FLHR guy. Chose the Star racing 577 bolt in with VH power duals and Tab 4.5 Zombies S&S lifters johnson bros. adj pushrods stock throttle body pump and plate. My first phase !! build and it runs great but honestly too load for long haul. next id love to send out the heads for upgrades and go with Fueling OE pump/plate setup and HPI moderate upgrade. AND I did go with the ThunderMax and glad I did great support. I measured runout at max 3.5 and my cylinders now read 200 psi. Does that sound right or is my procedure off? Any ways again thanks for the effort and the knowledge shared that you put into this video.

Appreciate all u do sir, you have great content. With many cams that have similar hp and torque, do they have the same similar exhaust sound .?👍

I have tried over and over to catch what that last valve spring required cam was. The one right after the F35A. Could not make it out.

And when that shim shatters you will wish you replaced it everytime . Because I know we love it when you gearade it. And the pieces go bounding all around in that crank case cam gear .

So, Dave, it would appear that it’s not really necessary to buy and install an expensive cam plate and oil pump, correct? Stock cam plate seems to work perfectly fine.

The TTS 150 and Fueling 465 were by far the best dyno runs in this test from what I see. Both cams had little to no dip in the torque curve. Nothing but smooth and rising power. I presume results with vary slightly with a 2-1 exhaust compared the the 2-2 you used in the test.

Going with the red shift 468 on my ST 117 with a D&D 2-1 with the valve springs as well. This really helped a lot Dave.

you will not need new valve springs with a 468 lift, stock will be fine

Why don't you recommend a molybube (torque lube) on the cam plate & oil pump bolts? Is it because you are using the stock hardware?
