Loved your entire video and the favorite is the color study. So interesting to see it done this way. Really showed how different. Now when I look at a pattern that draws me in I will watch more about cool vs warm that draws me in.
Sheri, your colorful Autumn Quaker is gorgeous! I love to play with color and I'm not squeamish about swapping out colors. I love your flosstubes. They are so informative and fun.
I love Fall and warm color tones. Your color tutorial was very informative and at times I do find myself wanting to swap out one or two colors in a pattern.
Your video is just packed full of great ideas! Pie included! Yum! That thread caddy is such a find. What a beautiful prop for your super cute new chart. The pumpkins are my favorite. I think I am drawn to warm colors because they seem to have more of an antique vibe but you have me thinking…
Love watching your flosstube! I did enjoy you informative color information. I absolutely love Fall! I enjoy stitching warm colors, hence my love of fall.😁
FALL. I'm a Virginia girl, born and raised and love the variety of colors this time of year. We lived in Thornton Colorado for 15 years as my husbands family is there. They were in Dillon, CO then moved to Westminster and some are in Longmont. I love when we visit in the fall as see the beautiful Aspen trees.
Fall stitching is so fun. I’m more of a warm color stitcher. I like your ideas of changing warm colors to cool and about adding a pop of the opposite to a cool or warm palette! Good food for thought! Thanks for all you share!
So inspiring...never too long. Loved the points you made regarding color, especially the idea of a "pop" of color being the opposite of what most of the cross stitch piece is stitched with. I am definitely a warm color person.
I always feel like I have been to a masterclass when I watch one of your floss tubes. I lean toward warm colors in cross stitch, home decorating, and even my clothes. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I always love when you show Oliver, he is beautiful. Thanks so much! Janine
This video was so very helpful! It helped me look at color in a whole new way. Summer was beautiful but I love fall most of all. I’m sure it’s really beautiful in Colorado!
Thanks for a great floss-tube. Your content is so full of inspiration. I love Fall and found lots of great ideas. I might lean slightly towards warmer colors but I do like both.
Sheri, thanks for the generosity with which you share your skills, knowledge, and ideas. I think a color challenge would be great fun. In fact, I could see a whole retreat designed around exploring color in cross stitching. Happy Crafting! -Anna
I can tell by the patterns that I have that I fall into the warm color team. That's probably why I love Blackbird Design patterns so much. Thanks for sharing!
The video was full of wonderful items and ideas. The topic of colour and colour choice is very interesting as we all see and describe colours in different ways. It does not matter which craft you are pursuing many people have difficult seeing an item in other colours. This applies to cross stitch, knitting and quilting etc. 🇬🇧
Hi, Sheri, So fun to visit with you today. Loved your color lesson. I think that challenging us to switch out colors would be a great camp project. I tend to stitch a lot of BBD, so warm in that regard. I definitely love their color palette. Take care and Happy Stitching! 🧵
Thank you so much for another great flosstube. Love the new designs and learned so much from your color theory segment- as a new designer I just appreciate the information so much.
I’m probably more of a cool color palette stitcher, but definitely stitch both. Thank you for including these educational segments in your flosstubes, I really enjoy them!
I loved your explanation about swapping colors that suit our liking. When I started stitching 2.5 years ago, I swore I could not change chart colors. I told myself I couldn't. But, jump into 2023, I find myself doing that when I have small charts. So far, if it has 5 or less, I don't have a problem picking my own colors. But you provided some great ideas. Thank you. And thank you for sharing about putting back felt efore doing single stitches. I would have never thought of that. Its a great idea. Thank you. I would love to stitch the fall chart. Very cute patter.
Thank you for another fun and informative video. I was fortunate to be born with an eye for color but still study it all the time in nature and in books. My wish list gets longer every time I see you it seems. Happy Stitching 🧵🪡
Such a great TED talk on colors. It was a fantastic comparison between warm/cool. I’ve always known I’m a warm color gal but this just confirmed it all over again. I really appreciate the thought you put into your flosstube and the info you share.
Love warm colors to match my interior colors. Fall stitching is so perfect most projects can stay up year round. Your flosstube is so informative, keeps us up to date with new designs.
What an wonderful discussion on color!! Thank you Sherry I am definitely going to share this video information on my next flosstube and direct them your way. Your thoughtful encouragement will definitely be a confidence booster to so many
I live the season of fall. As a teacher it's a chance to start over new every year! Looking at my stitching, I guess I'm drawn to warm colors. Thanks for such an inspiring video!❤❤❤
I so enjoyed this floss tube! So sorry that your table was a mess but everything you mentioned I was interested in. Your warm and cool colors have given me food for thought. The thread tray is AMAZING! thank you so much!
Thank you for your perspective of cool and warm colors. I really liked how you showed the comparison between the flosses in the same color ways. Congratulations on your WIPS from the last century, so I feel there is still hope for me. I am drawn to the warm colors for stitching about 80% of the time. Each fall we visit the pumpkin farm near our home. I’m always amazed on a sunny day how cool the pumpkin fields look with the vibrant greens and oranges against the clear blue sky.
I love the segment about changing things on the pattern, cool and warm tone instructions, and the 3 things... I tend to gravitate to warm colors...especially on holiday cross stitch .. yes, we have to give ourselves permission to have the finishes in colos that please us... .I've only been stitching a year after discovering I still had a box of DMC thread from 25 yrs ago...
What a great episode, Sheri! I always learn so much from you, and this episode about color was no exception. I’m primarily drawn to cool colors, but also like the warm Blackbird Designs color palette. And who doesn’t like a warm color fall stitch? Thanks for another wonderful FlossTube - and for including Oliver today. He’s a beauty!
Definitely a cool colours person. It was interesting to see how colours we typical think of as cool or warm can have an opposite companion. The pops of warm or cool makes sense when you think of complementary colours on the colour wheel.
Someone else said that too, so I'm copying what I wrote to her. 🙂In general, blues and greens are certainly cooler than reds and oranges. But if you take a True Red (the one color everyone can wear) and add a touch of blue to it, it becomes a cool red. If you take the True Red and add a touch of yellow to it, it becomes a warm red. Same for all colors. The ones with blue hues added, become cool versions. The ones with yellow hues added become the warm versions. I think color analysis is fascinating! I trained with House of Colour and did color analysis for people for several years, and am coming at this more in terms of dimensional colors (floss, fabrics, clothes). If you google "House of Colour Color Wheel" you'll see more examples of the differences in warm and cool colors. The Autumns and Springs are warm, the Winters and Summers are cool. Going a bit deeper - the Autumns are warm muted colors and the Springs are warm clear colors. The Summers are cool muted colors and the Winters are cool clear colors. Anyway - it's fun to see the differences and apply it to stitching!
The Fall pattern is adorable! I especially love the horses. Cool colors are my favorite, but I love the idea of switching out colors to have something really pop! I’m so glad you talked about doing the monochromatic pieces in multiple colors. I’m seeing so many new possibilities in my future. Thanks for the enabling!
Fall is my favorite season! I’m definitely a warm color person. I love how you changed the colors in the Autumn Quaker pattern. One of my daughters had an excellent art teacher. I remember him explaining to the students that you want a little bit of each color throughout a painting…that’s exactly what you did with that piece.
Can't help but fall in love with all those cool colors! Your display of various cool vs. warm flosses was so helpful, along with showing patterns that create the pops by contrasting them. Thanks for your tips! Gotta run out and get a peach pie now! 🍂♥️🥧
Thank you for adding a ‘warm’ touch to my day. This is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada and I tested positive for covid this morning. So I am missing my extended family’s get together and the turkey dinner.😢😢😢
Great video. I'm always happy to see Oliver . I think I'm a little bit of both, cool and warm colors, depending on the season. I love Fall with all the changes, cooler temperatures, and turning colors of the leaves.
Thanks Sheri❤. I truly enjoyed the “class on colors” today - and swapping out isn’t something I have done, but is something I will do. You have inspired me❤. I am drawn to the cool tones but I currently have the warm tones throughout my home, so understanding the pops of opposite tones will benefit me greatly. Can’t wait to see what you have for us next time.
Have to comment again! I FALL into the cool color palettes more often than warm, but am also drawn to patterns with a ‘pop’. I’m color wheel challenged, so again, your examples and descriptions were very informative for a person like me. I love all colors!!😂
Your discussion today about color palettes was very interesting. I never really gave much thought to color selected for various patterns until you pointed them out. Fall is my favorite season. I love all the colors.
Cheri I love this floss tube! My husband came in while I was watching you and I told him how I love you because you always teach us something wonderful! He said he came in because he heard some of the color ideas and he wanted to wanted to hear what you had to say!! I’m going to give your ideas a try. Thank you so much ◡̈. I’m totally attracted to cool colors but not afraid to stitch with warm tones. (I just plain love color). FALL
I am addicted to you flosstube!! I started watching recent ones and now I went back to yur first one and I am watching them in order. You hav freed up my thinking about colors fibers everything. Last nite I took out the white on the house I'm stitching because I didn't like it! I'm changing the house color the window trim and the inside of the windows to my own colors!! I hav never done that before. Always just followed patter. I could go on but just suffice it to say thanks for all you do!
Omg your color comparisons was so helpful!!! Your description as well as actually showing the fibers was very interesting as well as informative. Then to actually pull out patterns and give examples. I especially liked the ‘pop’ examples. Now I know why I like certain patterns!!!❤❤❤ thank you for an excellent video.
I LOVE your new words for home! I’m excited to hear it’s a series. Absolutely adorable. Excellent designs! Hopefully I’ll visit Colorado again one day and visit your store!
Hi, I love all things fall, from the colours to the crisp leaves and pulling out the sweaters, and I love to stitch Autumn pieces with warm orange and russet tones. I so enjoyed watching today
Just another wonderful video , could watch you all day . I am currently a drawn to cool colors . I currently just entered hospice and found a good pain regiment that I am able to stitch and stitch as much as I can . I am currently working on halloween and fall . I plan on stitching till I can't no more . Enjoy and happy stitching. Just want to thank you for all you do for this community and how you touch each one in our own way . ❤
I'm a warm Summer fan, so I never want Fall to arrive! I loved your lesson on warm & cool colors! You have helped guide me when I want to change a color in a pattern. I like the warm colors with a cool color pop! I look forward to your next flosstube!
All of your projects are so beautiful. I've been swapping out colors for years but never think about cool vs. warm. I just pick what I like! And I love fall stitching.
I’m definitely a warm color stitcher. I love your floss tubes. They are so interesting. I’ve learned so much from you. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful ideas. Fall is my favorite time of the year
Fall is my favorite time of year. The colors are gorgeous! I gravitate towards cool colors, but I would have no problem switching to warms. I love colors, period. The more there are, the happier I am. I enjoy seeing all of the new patterns you get for your store. Makes me want to stitch many of them!
I love fall most of all! I'm a warm color person. I quilt as well as cross stitch, and love vintage and primitive things. But I do occasionally enjoy a bit of modern, cool colors.
I really enjoyed the talk about cool verses warm colors. I am definitely drawn to cool colors more. But I do enjoy some warm colors. I loved hearing about the pop of warm or cool in a pattern. I do change colors if I don't want to use the listed ones. Thank you for your flosstubes.
Sheri, your discussion about warm and cool colors was very enlightening. Thank you! My preference is cool colors. In a future video, please let us know if "warm versus cool colors" is equivalent to "muted versus bright colors." If the concepts are not equivalent, please consider explaining how "muted versus bright colors" differ from "warm versus cool colors." Big smile!
Thank you for the suggestions! Muted vs Clear is not the same as Cool vs. Warm. I think of the muted colors as having just a touch of cream (cool or warm, depending on the season) added in. So - black coffee is clear, coffee with cream is muted. 🙂
I love the fall pattern with the pilgrims! So cute! I have learned from your video that I like warm colors, but not opposed to a pop of cool. Swapping out makes things interesting I think! 💕
Fall is a great time to be stitching on a Plum Street design! Sit by a window, watch the Fall leaves floating down and creating another seasonal masterpiece!
I think using the start date is wonderful..it gives the future viewers a sense of history. Love your almost oldest finish.
Thank you Kathleen!
I love Fall and warm color tones.
Your color tutorial was very informative and at times I do find myself wanting to swap out one or two colors in a pattern.

Thank you!
Love how you went into details on the color tones - I love warm and cool - its so fun to mix them together!

Your kitty is so laid back. Your book of days is just adorable. I wish I had the patience to do that but I appreciate your creativity.,
He is a very mellow boy and loves to be held. He's not as interested in being held if I'm talking, though! 😂

Sheri, so glad to see you today on floss tube 🌻. I am a warm tone stitcher and really enjoyed your lessons with cool and warm colors. FALL thank you 🎃

Thank you for watching!
Thank you for all the information on warm and cool colours , very helpful. Love your videos. Happy stitching❤
I love your flosstubes. I always learn something! I think I’m a cool colors person.
Thank you for watching!
Fall is my favorite season! I’m definitely a warm color person. I love how you changed the colors in the Autumn Quaker pattern. One of my daughters had an excellent art teacher. That's a good way to explain it!
Fall is my favorite season.
Boy I fall between both cool and warm evenly.
Thank you for talking about the conversion of colours. Also the Warm and Cool colours too that you can use in your stitching to give a pop of colour.
Can't help but fall in love with all those cool colors! Your display of various cool vs. warm flosses was so helpful, along with showing patterns that create the pops by contrasting them. Thanks for your tips! Gotta run out and get a peach pie now! 🍂♥️🥧
Your change of colors to the one color pattern make it just jump out beautifully. Now I must get that pattern!!! ENABLER
🙂
Thank you for adding a ‘warm’ touch to my day. This is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada and I tested positive for covid this morning. So I am missing my extended family’s get together and the turkey dinner.😢😢😢
Oh no! I am just now reading this, so I hope you are already feeling better!
Amazing video, Sheri. Loved the discussion on colors. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching, Sarah!
I always learn so much from you! Thank you for showing us how to play with color!
Loved your "lesson" on warm and cool colors. I'm aways drawn to warm colors. Nice to know how to make it pop.
Thank you for your talk about colors. It was very interesting and helpful.
Fall is a great time to be stitching on a Plum Street design! Sit by a window, watch the Fall leaves floating down and creating another seasonal masterpiece!
I love that color picture that you painted!
My favorite time of year is fall! I love the warm colors! My home is warm colors and my wardrobe!
