You just took me back to my early 90s teenage years where all the punks and some of the metalheads I knew had a Champion 100 because it was the only affordable 100-watt amp you could get, and it came with the bonus of being a 2x12. And they all put a Boss DS-1 orange distortion pedal in front of it to get more gain out of it. Those older ones didn't have that voice feature at all, and the only effect they had was reverb.
I have a Front man, which was the follow up amp I think. 100 watts, solid state, loud as f, 2 channels. The clean is nice and with some pedals you could get some decent high gain sounds. I got it for 300 bucks new
This is my only real amp, I mostly use plug-ins but this amp can do a lot. I’ve also always been secretly wanting Ola to do a video on it too. Edit: If you run a boost with the amp you can get some killer tones.
@@Starch1b2c3d4a Since I wrote that comment I got a new 8 string guitar (my first one, it’s the Javier Reyes sig) and have been using the EQ Devices Plumes as a boost. I’ve had this amp for about 6 months. I use it only for cleans for practice paired with a Peavey Vypyr 1 with an AB pedal. It was cheaper to get this than get the foot switch for the Peavey. I love this amp!
I started learning on one of these in high school! It will in fact chug while you play wrongly written Metallica songs out of time, can personally confirm
