Hope you guys enjoyed this one. Mike and I loved going through this with Marty. We had a blast with the team at Ping going through all the resources they have at their disposal.
Absolutely! One of my favorites of yours recently, partly because it was unexpected. Love what you're bringing us improvement and details lunatics. Keep it up!!
Marty has been one of the greatest resources for my golf learning as well as TXG 💪I hope one day to meet him and visit PING HQ. Nothing like being around like-minded people nerding out over golf.
Ian this seems to contradict your general advice is that you choose your ball based on short irons and wedge preferences, and then build the rest of the bag around that ball... He seems to suggest you should choose the ball based on preferred driver stats
Great stuff Ian! This testing equipment, conditions, analysis, and application are all very similar to defense industry ballistics testing. Very neat stuff.
Fascinating. For more sophisticated than my method, which is to wait for Srixon’s twice annual Buy 2 get 1 free sale and buy 9 boxes of the XV. Repeat as necessary.
I used the link in the description to do the ball fitting. I had to sign up and give my email address and create an account. They have you go through everything you guys did in the video. I was excited to get my results, until I was hit with a pay wall. They want $40 to get the results. I’m not going to pay $40 for the results and now they can market to me via email. Feels like a double kick in the balls
I don't really find it surprising that they want you to pay. This is a tool aimed at club fitters and fitting studios who are going to be willing to pay a monthly fee to access & use the software. If a consumer wants to use it 1x to make sure they're playing the right ball than $40 (less than the cost of a dozen balls) feels like a fair price.
$10- $20 would be much more fair IMPO. I could see a lot of even weekend golfers paying that but don’t see them paying $40. Love the option to do it however.
Cool watching professional fitters like Mike and Ian listening and watching this with the grins on their face like "oh man, this is so cool". Especially having a club producer doing it to this level.
Always wondered if a Matrix like this existed for golf balls - and now I know the answer! Good stuff TXG, love the depths that you guys go to and explore to provide us with some learnings!
Love this video. Ping is a wonderful company and their in my backyard. Thanks TXG for presenting this to us as another thing to get fitted for from an excellent club fitter. If your fitter is not utilizing this info, find one who does. it's that important. Cheers
Love so much about this video. Aerodynamics make such a huge difference and balls that perform the exact same on quad can perform wildly different over full flights because of it. Ballnamic has been a cool resourse that's a bit under the radar, until now I expect. Way to go TXG in thinking beyond the inital and working to offer and incorporate more ways to get your customers into the absolute best equipment for their game. 👏 Thanks for sharing with us.
Ian, one of the most interesting presentations I've seen on this or any channel. Loved it. Glad to see Bridgestone looked like a good option as that's my favourite brand overall i.e. the RXS version. Not surprised that Ping takes such a scientific approach to ball fitting (and as they said adapting clubs to balls too) as Karsten Solheim was an engineer at my old employer General Electric and the culture still carries on today.
Nice to see a club manufacturer doing this type of research in golf balls and clubs. It shows that they not only care about selling clubs but absolutely want you to use the best ball, for that equipment. Great video guys, this definitely shows you guys are the true winners, when it comes to fittings. Thanks
Came back to this after getting my launch numbers. I have been playing Bridgestone bxs purely for short game and it was my number 2 pick through ballnamic. Chrome soft X got number one and I really never considered playing Callaway so I’m excited to try them out with driver and iron play. Hope to see some minor improvements!
My new ball too. Where I am, I save $30 (a box), against the Pro V and former Bridgestone balls I played. In my testing those balls, weren't $30 a box better. Let alone $0 better than the 💎
That's the issue I find when you go for a fitting at a golf store at a range you are getting fitted on range balls some of the balls are so bad the numbers are jumping all-over the place
No matter who.s doing the testing I keep seeing Maxfli Tour popping up. Bought a box of 48 last year after MGS tested balls and for about $2.50 a ball they were fantastic.
Super awesome video. It would be cool if you could add this algorithm to the mygolfspy quality control. Where a Titleiest pro v1 has high 90's score vs Bridgestone that has mid 70's. For me it takes out one variable to think about. Same ball all the time allows me to work on areas of needed improvement. Love this stuff. 😀
Just this minute watched this absolutely fascinating what a fitting tool to find the right ball to improve your game. I've just purchased 4 different 3ball packs of bridgestone balls to try out let's see what happens.
Love golf physics! Data that you can't argue (not too much) with. Even for an amatuer golfer, why not play what makes sense for your game in every dimension! Thanks for doing all you do and sharing it with us mere mortals. .... :)
I've noticed I do not lose Wilson balls very often , I've played rounds with 1 Wilson ball. Srixon Q and Z I seem to lose a ton. I play pretty well with Pro V buy not good enough player to want to buy them. For me over the last few years golfing , I have just noticed that the Wilson ball seems to stay in play for me by far the most. I like Vice and Bridgestone as well , so Vice pro , Bridgestone E6 and the Wilson Duo. I like Callaway Hex balls as well and the Tit TrueFeel. Not sure but I wonder if these balls have any traits in common that make me notice them over the more elite golf balls.
This is a really cool tool and I see the benefit, but, given the same input, those balls are all likely to come off with different ball speed, launch, and spin. The whole comparison chart at the end is showing what the ball would do IF matched to the launch conditions provided, which is highly unlikely, since that's a major difference between balls. I guess it's a good point to start with for testing, but I think in a practical application you see quite a difference from what the chart suggests. (Unless I missed something and it does have an initial launch adjustment built in based on the ball properties too, like if he's getting 170mph/2200rpm from Prov1X he could expect 171mph/2300rpm from tour BX, 168mph/2100rpm from triad, etc, but I didn't see that).
Thanks for this - had heard about it but didn't know what the $40 would really get me. After I work through some bigger swing changes I'll come back to it when I have a better driver / 7i baseline
Really enjoyed this content Ian getting fitted properly is paramount, yesterday at a range in Auckland I watched this guy getting fitted for driver the tester was just giving him different drivers off the rack no head and shaft matrix and using a range ball his average club head speed was 124mph but ball speed only 159mph average smash factor average 140ish launch 14° after watching your content from when TXG started I'm thinking something is wrong here .
Love this video, thanks boys. Would like to see how the Titleist Left Dot would perform with Mattys swing. They will be available to consumers at some point.
Super interesting. Looking forward to trying it when I better know my numbers. Note that it costs $39 USD for access to the results over a 10-day period. ** From website: "Your purchase of $39 will give you access to the fitting engine of Ballnamic for 10 days, with the ability to adjust your preferences and inputs up to five times during this time. After 10 days, you will get an e-mail with a link to your results or you can immediately send them to any email after each fitting session."
Yeah this annoyed me. The information should be given at the beginning before they ask for your contact information and you fill out the entire questionnaire. Also, if you have access to a fitting facility you'd get better info actually doing this in person IMO.
I play the Kirkland KS1 and it rolls the rock really well. 100% milled face with optional weights, etc. only modification I did was put a smaller super stroke grip on it to feel it more in my hands. I call it the Scotty Scammeron 😂
Reminds me of the Mizuno shaft optimizer, but better being that the database includes just about everything versus offered shafts, good for ping for effectively helping their competitors for integrity’s sake!
For some reason, the FAQ indicates it is only available to US residents. I don't understand how geographical location affects anything we need to enter or the ball selection. Weird.
This is just great and amazing way of seeing things. Would you mind translating to a regular weekend hacker that has a decent game but no time or big bucks to go through a session like this?
The Maxfli Tour is a fantastic ball. Hard to beat for the price. I'm afraid the price is going to increase with all the attention it has been getting on various reviews.
How good do you have to be before playing the right ball is the missing piece? My favorite ball is the Pro V1. Every year or so I will play another ball, but, after awhile, I always find the new ball lacking in some respect. I go back to the Pro V1 and I am happy again. The new ball I am trying is the Callaway Chrome Soft X LS. After several rounds, my impression is that it is longer than the Pro V1 and it still has the stopping power and chipping characteristics that seem to be in my wheelhouse. Your video was awesome. Thank you. You reinforce my belief that you have to hit balls outside and on the course to really know and get a feel for what they are doing and for what works best for you. Ball choice seems to be a personal decision based on the way one plays the game.
I too use the Chrome soft x LS. I go back and forth sometimes with Titleist Pro v1 and Bridgestone Bxs; but always end up back to the Callaway. It is the longest, BTW, for me.
Great video! Interesting information! I think I just might try this out. I have a request though. Could you guys test the Noodle Long and Soft golf ball made by TaylorMade? I’ve always been very interested in seeing the performance and consistency of this golf ball. I currently play Vice Pro Drip. But I see Noodle flying off the shelves a lot. Thanks guys! I always look forward to your videos!
OK I signed up for Ballnamic. Why do I get the feeling that the people at Ping behind Ballnamic had a blast doing it? Finish up a round, go to the 19th hole, sit down, and talk ball dynamics and algorithms.
Excellent stuff guys. So what ball can you recommend to launch lower, 30 yds longer off the driver, straighter.....tighter dispersion off all clubs and never gers lost or scuffed?. ;)
Since a lot of the model is optimizing wind and workability, isn’t an implication that you should change your ball each hole depending on wind direction or maybe if you have a dogleg ? Anyway interesting video, but I think this is sort of gilding the lily for my game. I’m better off figuring out how to stop getting low heel hits off my driver that create an extra 500-1000rpms than worrying about whether I could eek another 3 yards off my 7 iron.
I love your videos! As for a ball that might be worth me trying, I am open for suggestions. I recently got fitted for a set of PXG Gen5 P irons. AMAZING stuff fairly cheap price to access that data
Great stuff Ian! This testing equipment, conditions, analysis, and application are all very similar to defense industry ballistics testing. Very neat stuff.
This is straight golf nerd stuff in all the best ways! Huge huge fan of this.
Ping seems to be the industry leader in engineering their golf equipment. Awesome to see
I play Triad because of the design characteristics for straight flight. It performs well all the way around!
Fascinating.

Feels like a double kick in the balls
Yep. Weird they wouldn’t tell us that.
Did the same and ended in the same pay wall. It also requires you to live in the US to pay so it isn't for any of us in the rest of the world :(
I don't really find it surprising that they want you to pay. This is a tool aimed at club fitters and fitting studios who are going to be willing to pay a monthly fee to access & use the software. Love the option to do it however.
Would pay about £10 for a single fitting
Cool watching professional fitters like Mike and Ian listening and watching this with the grins on their face like "oh man, this is so cool". Especially having a club producer doing it to this level.
Marty’s awesome. Every time I hear him speak I learn something new.
This is a great stuff! Shout out to PING for helping golfers worldwide!
Been waiting for somebody to do a video on Ballnamics. Glad it was TXG so we get the straight good not a bunch of hooey like some other channels.
Always wondered if a Matrix like this existed for golf balls - and now I know the answer! Good stuff TXG, love the depths that you guys go to and explore to provide us with some learnings!

Amazing video with Ping! One of the coolest and most educational that I’ve seen from TXG and overall!
I was excited about this. Until I got to the end and they wanted $39. Plus, even if I wanted to pay it's US only.
Best ball analysis I have ever seen!!! This takes the ball comparison to the next level. Who would ever think about wind when buying a ball?!?!?!?
Nice to see a club manufacturer doing this type of research in golf balls and clubs. It shows that they not only care about selling clubs but absolutely want you to use the best ball, for that equipment. Great video guys,

Chrome Soft X is an excellent ball
Great content. I loved the results pages showing flight/distance differences between the Bridgestone and ProV1X.
What fantastic information to be able to incorporate into a fitting.👍
i cant thank you enough. thank you all for this amazing content.
Cool vid - I’m happy with my Srixon 💎
Love the diamond
My new ball too. Where I am, I save $30 (a box), against the Pro V and former Bridgestone balls I played. In my testing those balls, weren't $30 a box better. Let alone $0 better than the 💎

Terrific video. Really helps when it comes to selecting best performing ball without having as much time and money to test all options
Maxfli Tour/TourX and Vice Pro Soft/Pro are the same balls. Best value on the market for something that doesn't have crazy spin like the Kirklands.
most helpful ball related video I may have ever seen. also makes me want to support Ping with more club purchases :)
Just this minute watched this absolutely fascinating what a fitting tool to find the right ball to improve your game. I've just purchased 4 different 3ball packs of bridgestone balls to try out let's see what happens.
This was a real eye-opener.
Great vlog! Big thanks to Ping for this great analysis! 👍
This is why Ping is one of the best!
Awesome I learn every week from you guys!!!!!

Excellent everyone. Marty is the best.
What an interesting video. Great for those of us that are real gear and golf tech junkies.
This is absolutely incredible. I can’t wait to test out this interface.

awesome video. The data and analytics of the ballnamic tool is very cool to see.
This is awesome. Getting a driver fitting today and am giddy to plug that data into the model and see what it suggests.
This is amazing Ian!!!

Please make Ballnamic available in Canada :)
Coming soon!
@@mikemartysiewicz glad to hear 👍
Really interesting video guys. Don't think the big dirty dog will be rocking a triad any time soon tho!!
This is just great and amazing way of seeing things. Would you mind translating to a regular weekend hacker that has a decent game but no time or big bucks to go through a session like this?
Amazing content. Love learning new stuff- we can tell you love it too!

Excellent info and the process is very thorough but not to an enoying extent
US only and $39 for the results. For those who don’t want to waste their time filling out the questionnaire in other countries
At what part of the fitting would you utilize Ballnamic? At the beginning or after the fit?
Tour bx best wind ball I've used period.
Which ball is best when you chunk it? (Asking for a friend)
OK I signed up for Ballnamic. Why do I get the feeling that the people at Ping behind Ballnamic had a blast doing it? Finish up a round, go to the 19th hole, sit down, and talk ball dynamics and algorithms.
Curious to know if TXG would optimize golf ball before club fitting or vice versa.
Was pretty stoked to see the results only to find out it costs $35 and after you have registered your information and email.
Awesome video guys! I really want to do the Ballnamic fitting but its U.S only...do they plan to open it up to the rest of the world? Thanks
Excellent stuff guys. So what ball can you recommend to launch lower, 30 yds longer off the driver, straighter.....tighter dispersion off all clubs and never gers lost or scuffed?. ;)
You can tell Ian enjoyed the tech talk. #golfnerdsunite
Next level value added resource
So their testing shows that Triad curves the least of any ball on the market? And is that through the whole bag, or just on the driver?
Wow unbelievable 👍👍👍👍
Since a lot of the model is optimizing wind and workability, isn’t an implication that you should change your ball each hole depending on wind direction or maybe if you have a dogleg ?
Anyway interesting video, but I think this is sort of gilding the lily for my game. I’m better off figuring out how to stop getting low heel hits off my driver that create an extra 500-1000rpms than worrying about whether I could eek another 3 yards off my 7 iron.
Shattered this isn’t available in Australia because I would definitely do this
I love your videos! As for a ball that might be worth me trying, I am open for suggestions. I recently got fitted for a set of PXG Gen5 P irons. I love the way they feel, and they are very easy to hit. What I am having problems with is spin and launch, particularly off my mid and long irons, and my hybrid. After receiving the irons, and using them once on the course, and once with a simulator, I brought them back to PXG for a spec check, and they assured me that my spin rates were all exactly where they should be. Here are a few examples of spin, carry, and total:
PW 8599 130 136
9I 7999 142 150
8I 6117 157 168
7I 5211 174 188
6I 4448 185 200
5I 3897 198 214
19H 3074 214 234
Sorry for no launch angle.
All numbers are with a ProV1.
Any suggestions for a higher, spinning, or higher launching ball will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Great video. Shame Ballnamic results are only available to US based golfers only. Nothing for Euros or Oceanic/Asia.
Awesome video. Where can I send in my data to get a great ball fit.
Should you tell something like this what you were fit with when providing baseline data?
Just tried the fitting tool but when it came to payment it’s not available in Canada. Too bad
If I ever get a club fitting I’m bringing a sleeve of Kirklands to be fit around because I refuse to leave it’s price to performance
What I did was ask for Christmas a sleeve of 3 different model of golf balls! This way I can test a ball in all conditions and I don’t feel bad for pumping one or two into the hazard’s! 🥴 Ho, Ho, Ho… you’ll shot your eye out!
If it's saying that it only available in the US, just go to your email and confirm your email with them. Works now.
Companies all say a ball can spin diff off diff clubs but independent testers say high spin always spin high n low spin low ??
Why is ballnamic only available in the US?
I wonder how accurate this recommendations are?
Bx tour 4lyfe
CS ls honorable mention
only available in the US?
I'm a lot smarter on understanding a real golf ball fitting. Really thinking of getting this done one day
This will work in Canada.
Use a US address an pay with PayPal.
Did you actually do that? I live in Ottawa, have a PayPal account, and could use my daughter’s address in NYC
@jimthomson1892 yes. I just typed in a random address.
Ok what do we hackers hit, want distance plus mid stopping power, i like a bit of roll on the greens. I'm confused as fek!
You just made these guys a whack of money. I am doing my fitting right now. :)
Tried mine too. Sadly in Oz so I can enter the metrics but cant pay so as to get my results
Nerd heaven!
Is this free to the public?
