    Once again, so, so, soooo much better than what we got in WW. Seriously, some screenwriters should be hiring you as a story editor. Well done.

      It's so much easier to look at a finished, post-produced product and sit there with commentary, than it is to do it in an office space before anybody's started on preproduction. The luxury of looking at what you think is the script (most people have no idea what the script was like) after the fact that it has gone through pre and post production is one that you are dismissing when praising this man - not to say he isn't capable or anything, just curbing your enthusiasm.

    • @AtticusHimself
      @AtticusHimself 6 років тому +27

      Keep in mind that thousands of people work on a production like this and that, as a writer, you will have to deal with getting pushed around by dozens of producers, the director and execs when coming up with stuff, that is if you don't have to rub elbows with other writers, too, and a lot of that involves compromising. There are many factors that make the end product so starkly different and distorted from the point of view of a first or second draft script.

      Atticus I was thinking the exact same thing as I read the compliments. Not to say his revisions aren’t good. Just made easier from being judged in a visual manner.

    I would say this is also similar to the real life Wernher Von Braun. The only way he could continue his progress in rocket science was to build missiles for Hitler.

      Interesting. Also, I didn't realize this when I watched the movie but did you know that Ludendorff was a real guy? And evsn though he seems like a real monster, it feels weird having him fight Wonder Woman, because he's real.

      I did not know that! I will check it out. Von Braun designed the V2 rocket which pummeled London. He was able to surrender to the Americans and was one of the pioneers of the american space program.

      I also thought of Fritz Haber. He invented the process for synthesizing ammonia for fertilizer as well as Zyklon A (an insecticide), vastly improving food production around the world. He also worked on chemical weapons in WWI and invented Zyklon B, which was used for gas chambers in WWII.

      germany lost not because of anybattle field loss, they were slowly looseing but their army was still fully operational and may have turned it around in fact they would have based on studies. what made germany loose was the communist revolution back home, it would have made more sense for Ludendorf to gas the german communists (thus removeing the reason for the germans seeking peace, thus convinceing the other german leaders to continue the war as they can now win (no trouble back home and a super weapon). i think they should have also made the german's want to win as they think any peace would be terrable [like they did] combined with extreme patriotism (i love germany too much to see it crippled by their [the allie's] peace). At the end i would also do a montage of the germans giveing up due to renewed cominunist activity and the loss of the super weapon aswell as the army being tired of war (make the germans reluctant to end the war due to pride and fear etc but wonder woman can 'rope' them into admitting they want the war to end)

      Since Nando talks about the scene involving the planes, this was a perfect time for Wonder Woman to introduce the Blackhawks into the "DCEU". Another missed opportunity. I know WB wants Steven Spielberg to direct a Blackhawks movie, but at this point it's too little, too late.

    Wow, that rewrite was incredible! I was completely engrossed and could actually visualize every word you said. I always thought it was odd and a waste that Dr. Poison and Wonder Woman never spoke a single word to each other. I was waiting and waiting and waiting for them to meet, speak, cross paths, or something....
    It's really sad (or incredible) that fanfiction has written Dr. Poison better than this major blockbuster film.
    They were incredible polar opposites whose chemistry I'm sure would have sizzled and been an incredible segue for a sequel, after-credits things, etc.

    This and the one from last week belong to the best you have done until now. You have grown way beyond fixing plotholes or adding details. Theses changes change the story as a whole and the way it would have been received by the audience. Nando, ever since it came out I've always felt that something was off with the ending of The Dark Knight.
    I always thought that both of the cruise ships should have blown up at 11:59
    Batman could look confused/angry and Joker could laugh and say "Oops I think I crossed some wires there. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to do a few more trails." Insane laughter. Then Batman pushes him off the ledge, catches him and the movie continues as normal.
    Mostly because I've always thought that the knowledge that all the passengers chose to do the right thing kind of undermines Batman's decision to be blamed for Two Face's actions. I think it kind of intensifies Batman's need to make an extreme decision in order to save the city from itself.

    • @NandovMovies
      @NandovMovies  6 років тому +28

      That's a really interesting point. I like that rewrite a lot. The ending the TDK being so all over the place is one reason I really prefer Begins.

    • @Crick1952
      @Crick1952 6 років тому +9

      Tom Smith I agree with you fully, but even TDK has it's problems and I also think that the ending doesn't quite fufile all the buildup the rest of the movie has set up

    • @Crick1952
      @Crick1952 6 років тому +11

      Nando v Movies Wow, I'm so happy you agree 😁
      What I was thinking is that you could take this in different directions depending upon what you wanted as your ultimate message.
      TDK seems to be leading to Joker's ultimate hypothesis "Everyone could be a villian" This is proven through the corrupt cops, selfish mob bosses, the bloodthirsty mobs and Dent/Two Face.
      If Batman and his philosophy "Everyone is worth saving" get this crucial win BEFORE he confronts Two Face then it kind of takes the wind out of this scene. Batman steals the win by knocking Two Face off the building because that was the only way he could save Gordan. In my mind, Batman should be more desperate in order to make that decision. Then, after Two Face is dead he realizes that he is tainted, Joker forced him into breaking his highest rule. Batamn just killed.
      This new mentality allows him to change his purpose of being Batman.
      Instead of being the symbol of good fighting evil and cleaning the streets, he needs to be a symbol of evil that the good can use to clean up the streets.
      Then all those discussions with Alfred are put into context. Bruce realizes he needs to "burn the forest down".
      And if you want you could justify that Batman was really correct all along by having Lucias record everything on the cruise ships before they blowup, revealing that none of the prisoners or passengers pushed their buttons. Joker rigged them to go off because he is always prepared.

    • @spencermalley10
      @spencermalley10 6 років тому +9

      Crick1952 Kind of undermines Batman's "full of people ready to believe in good" declaration.

    • @Crick1952
      @Crick1952 6 років тому +3

      Spencer Malley He can still say that, but now the Joker has a stronger footing (while paradoxically hanging in the air) to refute it.
      Afterall, it's not like we haven't seen any good people in Gotham, plus being in a bad situation and making a wrong decision doesn't make you bad (which would be a great theme to pick up in Rise with Batman's relationship with Catwoman, a professional criminal who he falls in love with (something I really liked from Rise))

    With the power set for Ares that he mentioned, A fight with him in the modern day would be so fun! Ares would not just be able to summon swords and shields and other ancient weapons, but also be able to summon guns, explosives, lasers, and other modern weapons. Just imagine Ares in a full suit of armor holding up his cape like a matador, taunting Diana into lunging towards him, and he drops his cape and reveals a full on naval cannon that fires into her. He could have a chill moment where he is talking with someone, summons a molotov cocktail, and then just puts it out and offers a drink. If you want to expand on it to have more fun, make him able to summon anything that was used as a weapon, so he could just go all WWE on someone and summon a folding chair, or drive a jeep into someone. And if he is a Justice League movie villain, you could have a scene where he and Superman lock eyes and Ares says "Ah, Superman, you know I was actually scared you would try to stop me. But luckily I have something made just for you..." and he summons the kryptonite spear from Batman V Superman. And Superman just gives a look to Batman, and Batman goes "....I said I was sorry!"

They already used universal Villan in the Darkside camp in justice league so not in that camp and they made sure no other Gods are out there in the present time at least the Greek gods. So what come after this? cheetah is not really a villan I think people will find... well interesting. Duuude.
    This is so well thought out. Doctor Poison totally IS a great foil to Diana. The gray morals stuff is fantastic and I totally agree that it fulfills all the deeper meanings they were hinting at throughout but didn't quite establish to their completion. Plus Charlie gets a redemption moment and Diana standing to the plane's wing would be hella cool.
    And THANK YOU for pointing out that Ares shouldn't have lightning powers! As a classical greek nerd, it was totally bugging me while I watched the movie

    While I was a little dismissive of the first one of these two for having a complaint I don't feel is legitimate and I see all the time, this solidified it for me. Doctor Poison is really a perfect antagonist and foil for Wonder Woman, and was my favorite of the three antagonists in the movie. I will say that instead of not laughing with Ludendorff, she could just have a different tone, an uncomfortable playing along tone, on realizing he's laughing about killing a room full of people. It gives some decent character to both of them without any explicit dialogue.

    This is a nice change to the movie but i don't like it because i liked that scene where she laughs at the people dying. The female villians are always the one who are emotionally conflicted and turned over to the side of the hero see every bond movie ever. I really loved that scene because it shows that she loves what she does. You are right, being a female chemist at that time would have been difficult and the only place she would have be effective would have been in the war. I personally think that rather than fighting the war she would have been happy to be in her chosen profession. Yes she can't practice chemistry as a civilian but why would she want to, in the war she is respected, her work is respected and frankly there's no point in being sad about joining the war effort when she's doing what she wants. Also, dr poison is never seen in the movie at the frontlines, she's always in the comfort of her lab so she didn't see the horrors Diana did. The way she kills people is clean and efficient, no spilt blood or flowing guts or dangling body parts. I think that Dr Poison should have been the villian of the story, but i wanted her to be someone who cared about herself and adapted to the situation she was in. I don't want her to be someone that is uncertain in her morality, we already have every other female villian for that. So yes i think she was one dimensional but not because she was evil and didn't care about the lives of other people but because the movie didn't explore her.

    • @TheKatxRose
      @TheKatxRose 6 років тому +1

      compass696 yes I agree with what your saying, I think a combo of your idea and the videos would make a compelling Villain, where she at first doesn’t want to be “evil” but enjoys finally seeing the people who doubted her perish, I think her deciding to help Wonder Women could be a little anti-climatic and out of character; so instead she tells WW that she is only like this because this was the only way for a woman to achieve something great (in the 1910s) she goes hysterical and drops her gun freeing Steve, I can’t see how it ultimately ends, perhaps dr poison blows up with her only creation who knows.

    • @racheltayman2450
      @racheltayman2450 6 років тому +5

      Heads up, so sorry for the ridiculously long comment.
      Perhaps when WW gives Doctor Poison the choice to help them, when it is really her choice, just as the video says, she chooses to not help them. WW probably disarms her, but then she escapes or something. WW, Steve, and the gang are left with a plane full of active bombs and no way to defuse them. This is where we would join the conflict as it is in the video, with Steve saying goodbye and forcing Diana to leave him in the plane, but this time they didn't do all the work of defusing the bombs for nothing and they are still forced to do something with the plane. The argument of "so that they don't get into the wrong hands" seems kinda weak. (although you still run into the problem of why Steve can't just set the plane to crash into the ocean and jump out with the rest without coming up with some plot-convenient problem of why that won't work).
      I think Dr. Poison actively choosing to "be evil" would farther make her a foil to Diana and enforce the idea of choice. Sure, most people might not have a choice. But even when they are given a clear choice, people will still choose to do bad things, and it's that choice that defines people. This would enforce the theme that Steve has been trying to tell Diana the whole time, that it's not just all good people forced to do bad things, or all bad people who choose to do bad things all the time. It's a mix of all of those. People do good and bad things because they are forced, and people do good and bad things by choice. Diana's lesson is that humanity is complicated.
      One more thing: If all the main character's are simply doing bad things, or things they don't want to do, because they are forced to, that is exactly what Diana thought in the beginning of the movie, except now it's not Ares controlling them but society. I think it's more dynamic if she realizes that it's a mix of being forced and having a choice despite your situation.

    • @Iritis-
      @Iritis- 6 років тому +1

      I hated the scene.
      It felt like something out of a Saturday morning cartoon and didn't fit the tone of what was happening on screen, gender doesn't even need to enter the discussion. Compare it to another black comedy moment in a DC property; the "magic trick" in TDK. It's quick, brutal, and doesn't linger. The humor is derived from the relaxed line delivery accompanied by a nonchalant homicide.
      The gas mask pun is lame because it forces the characters to explain the joke to the audience.

    Eh... not quite liking this ending for Wonder Woman. To put things into a modern parlance, Diana needs a "Red Pill" moment to jolt her out of her naiveté. This... doesn't give her that. I'm not sure it's significantly better than what we already got with Professor Lupin throwing lighting at Diana. Different, yes, but better? It's nice for the other characters to get their moments, but for Diana, I don't think it's significantly better.
    I'd prefer if Dr. Poison had to fight her way to get into the German army scientific research division. That she WAS psychotic and sociopathic and just plain evil - something that Diana has never encountered in a woman. She's heard stories of men who were like that (always being told it was Ares who made them that way), but just assumed it was something that only could be done for men. Then in the movie she thinks Dr. Poison is corrupted by Ares like men can be; after she "kills" Ares, she finds that the war doesn't stop AND Dr. Poison is still evil. She thinks that Dr. Poison will be able to tell Steve how to disarm the bombs, but as she is telling Steve how to disarm them, Steve recognizes that she's simply delaying him and toying with Diana. By the time he realizes it, there isn't time to find a way to safely land the plane somewhere else - he's over the ocean, just minutes away from London, and he has to crash it into the ocean before it can deliver its payload. When the radio crackles and falls dead after Steve crashes into the ocean, Dr. Poison goes berserk because she's been thwarted, and her life's work is ruined.
    No redemption for Dr. Poison. No "This was my only choice!". Straight up, Dr. Poison is Evil, and she CHOSE to do the things she did. Diana realizes that when she was thinking of "Man", she was literally thinking only of Men, and that Women were merely victims of Men. With Dr. Poison being straight up evil, it "Red Pills" her into realizing that the world is far different than she was taught.

    • @josharntt
      @josharntt 6 років тому +1

      Haha, "a near perfect movie"? Absolutely not. I think you're contrasting Wonder woman with the rest of the dceu a bit too much, it doesn't take much to be a better movie than Suicide squad or Batman v Superman, but Wonder woman is still *nowhere* near a perfect movie, and still not close to being one of the best superhero movies, that title lies with either Logan or The Dark Knight. Wonder Woman is the only "good" dceu movies so far, but it is not great nor is it extraordinary.

    Good suggestions all around. I really like the direction you propose for Ares. One adjustment I would make is that I don't think Diana would willingly leave Steve to die. She wouldn't parachute out and let him sacrifice himself, and there's no way he could make her go. She would need to have some compelling problem to solve elsewhere. Maybe Samir and the others are about to get shot down, so she has to go rescue them, trusting that Steve and Dr. Poison can handle the bombs. Then you can still have Steve die (or appear to die, when in fact he is pulled into space to become a Green Lantern so you don't lose Chris Pine in the DCEU, huh? Huh?), and Diana still can be affected by his sacrifice in the end.
    Also, I don't love having Steve choose to down the plane in the water. It's too Captain America: First Avenger in a movie that already feels overly derivative of that film. I would have Steve, Diana, and Dr. Poison try to think of a plan. They can't blow the plane up, they can't risk letting the gas fall into anyone's hands on either side. Where can they hide the bombs where no one can find them? Themyscira. They can fly the bomber to Themyscira and hide the gas there in the keeping of the Amazons. They can face any number of challenges getting there, Diana would show them the way, etc. But she's not allowed to return. Maybe the magic barrier rips her from the plane when they cross it and that causes it to crash, or maybe she just has to willingly leave for other reasons as I mentioned before, and Steve and Dr. Poison have to cross to the island of the Amazons alone. Maybe Steve is wounded by a fighter bullet, but hangs on long enough to bring the plane to the ground before he dies. Then the Amazons can give him the rare honor of a Themysciran funeral, honoring a man for his sacrifice and bridging their divide a little with his world (unless he gets taken by the Lantern Corps first) In the end, Dr. Poison could choose to stay with the Amazons and re-make herself in their company, away from the war and the troubles and the judgement about her face and the sins of her past. Maybe Hippolyta wants to lift the banishment of Diana and welcome her back, but she chooses instead to go back into the world and do some good. There are lots of interesting paths for how the movie could end, but all of this would be better than the lame CGI fight with Ares.
    Nice work. Love the channel.
