This video was very helpful, and you had a lot of great useful tips. I've often wondered if it affects my plant if I move from one spot and try to adjust another. I just recently repotted my palmer and moved it from my kitchen bar at the sink facing window to a lesser brighter place

Nicely explained. My chamedora plant stems are rotten. Also the leaves are showing small small white spots.
Watering properly as u told. Kept in North balcony with bright lights. No direct sunlight.
    Pl advice

Hi Vineet, If your Plant's stem is rotten then you probable have overwatered your plant. Watering the plant also depends on the temperature, humidity and weather in the area. If it is cold weather (less temperature/more humidity) in your area then the plant will require very less water (sometimes may be once monthly). That is what I do with my Palms during winters/rainy days.
Rotten stem may indicate development of root rot. You can repot your plant in a fresh soil to save it from further damage. Assess the roots for any signs of root rot.

Hello, if the leaves are brown, should I clip them all back and follow these instructions going forward? I've also already transplanted into a larger pot, about six months ago. Will it stabilize eventually?

I have my parlour palm near the east facing windows and it gets direct sunlight in morning… the leaves are turning brown and sometimes the new shoots are already brown. Is it bcoz of overwatering or the position where it is kept?

My parlor palm has gotten very dense In it’s foliage. It is very healthy. Should I thin it out or is it ok the way it is? I love this plant and have had it for many years now.

A dense and healthy Parlour Palm tells that it has been taken care well. I think you should leave it the way it is if it actually not bothering you. Parlour Palm look beautiful when they are dense.

Hi there, I think that your plant might have gone into change stress. when we buy new plants and bring them home, their routine, lighting, temperature, and watering changes which can cause leaves to drop. That's very normal. let the plant recover by itself slowly and continue the same routine. once the plant gets habituated to new conditions, it will give out new growth. these plants are generally slow-growing plants so you have to be patient with them.

My Chamaedorea Elegance Palm tree I planted in potted 2 weeks ago I noticed leaves are fading. It is like the leaves are a fade green with with faded white mixed in. It is not a fungus as it looks like a natural color in leaves. I have it under grow light but not real bright. I keep check if needs watering so don't know what is causing it or what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Another great hint is water with bottled or purified water. Avoid water straight out of the tap. Tap water usually contains a high chlorine content & this _always_ turns the tips of my palms & lucky bamboo brown.
My lucky bamboo turns a whopping 27 _years old_ this october! She's older than my eldest child & much larger too. 😂😂

My plant is turning white, i have cleaned it off but it keeps coming back. Do you know why this is and what can be done to save it? Thanks

    • @Homemakr
      @Homemakr  Рік тому

Is the white due to powdery mildews or any pest infestation like mealy bugs? Use baking soda solution or Neem oil solution regularly even after the infestation has gone to prevent the infestation from happening again.

wonderful video! Thank you for posting! I do have a question. I feel like the soil under my parlor palms remains moist too long and then leads to yellowing of the branches. Is there a standard amount of time that the soil should be moist? And is there a safe way to make it dry up sooner, in a way that's safe for the plant? Thanks again for the great info!

    • @Homemakr

Hi Ricardo, Plant soil remaining wet for long can be due to various reasons. First is light. If the plant does not have enough light, it will not photosynthesis well and therefore wont consume enough water and soil will remain wet for long. Second, large pot, contains more soil and more soil holds more water. If the plant is small, it cannot use all the water and again the soil will remain wet for long. Third is Winter season, Plants wont grow much and therefore not use enough water. Fourth is adding perlite, pumice, or coarse sand to soil for extra drainage and aeration.
Make sure you rule out all these factors. place the plant in area where it receives good amount of light. Do not water till the top half soil dries out. If the plant is growing healthy then it will consume the water quickly as parlour palms use more water than other plants. There is no set time for plants to use the water from soil. Depends on their growth, season, temperature, light.

I have two Parlor Palms that I ordered from an online company they came in special pots that require monthly watering. The first one had fungus, bugs and it seemed unhappy. I used cinnamon on the soil after removing affected top layer. And sprayed bugs with Neem oil. Bugs gone, fungus gone..but Now the leaves a curling under...like arthritis. I complained they sent me another one, this one had top leaves mostly yellow..and black spots on alot of the leaves. I'm not sure what to do. Obviously I don't have a green thumb why else spend the extra not to water them 🙄 PLEASE HELP 🙏
