Hi! A new plant parent here, it's like having an actual baby. My Areca palm isn't doing well, the stems are yellowing, the leaves are crusty, used neem oil spray, wiped the leaves individually but somehow, the browning and yellowing isn't stopping. It's probably, the location shock but I hope it springs back. Genuinely liked the tips, will follow.
Excellent instructions… you answered my issues…. But I live in a NYC apartment with limited sum and with north and south facing windows… After 2-months my palm plant stopped growling… Any suggestions?
Thank you for such a in detail information for all the plants can you please elaborate about the word you use LUX .i am not familiar with this word Lux how to find out the Lux of our room.
It is a unit to measure the amount of light a surface of area gets.Normally you will see photographers using lux meters to adjust the lighting during shoots. You can buy lux meters online or download apps on your mobile. They can help you find the out the lux of your room.
Recently one of the areca palm was not doing gradually it has dropped all the leaves not died it has put up two three new leaves after shifting to east facing in bangalore.my question is i checked the pot it's a 14 inch pot i saw it was filled with sand with very less soil and no sign of manure so I removed some sand till i could see the tiny roots and filled it with mixer of soil and kitchen compost i don't see any shock from the plant leaves are growing bigger but very slow . please let me know is it ok to do that or should I mix little bit sand into the soil before it's growth was going up and down was doing well when I feed some manure or liquid fertilizer on top . first time I have checked the soil of this plant it's a 8 years old plant and have kept outdoor east facing.i usually use mixer of soil, kitchen compost and dry leaves as a potting mix for all my ornamental plants and they do well only if needed i add sand for some plants to keep the soil very loose.
Too much fertilization is harmful for plants, Please Check the Link below to know about the right potting mix for all your plants. Thank you! ua-cam.com/video/gFCUP_DrWe0/v-deo.html
Hey! Yellowing leaves can indicate underwatering, Brown leaf tips are a sign of cold draughts or a dry atmosphere Please make sure that you do proper watering. Watering should be done in such a way that you have to water your plant completley until you see watering is leaking from the bottom and the next watering should be done when the top layer of soil dries.
I have killed 4 areca palms in the past..i gave up..but again i bought 2 big plants as i cudnt resist them for more than a year. But i am really scared..as delhi winters are on the way.wt can i do in the winters to help my new arecas.plz
Hey! During the cooler winter months you can allow the soil to dry out in between watering. Soil: Very important to have well draining potting mix - generally palms needs special palm soil that is sandier than average houseplant soil. Humidity: Average humidity of 40-60% is perfect.
My palm was doing well since I got it, but recently I've noticed the leaf tips only drying and THE PITOLE BLACK. I m misting it, wiping with moist cloth and even put it under the shower every 4 / 5 days. It's as big as the one you have. HELP ....An extremely worried plant parent from b'lore. Should I repot it?
I had bought an erica 2 months ago...and my older leaves is stared becoming yellow and brown crisp tips. There are many new shoots in my erica but they are not opening up and my soil medium is more on the side of sand...i water it 5 6 days once..then shift it to partial indirect sunlight for one or two day and then i put it indoor next to window.(bright light no direct sunlight) This is my second erica which has started drying on me..i am not sure what to do.... I think i am underwatering it..do you feel the same..!?
Hi vasvi, it's okay for old leaves to die, as long as new leaves are coming, it's a good sign your plant is healthy. Yellow leaves can be due to underwatering. One thing, most plant parents are not aware of is that plants get accustomed to thier environments. If you change it often...it can hamper your plants growth. Keep it in indirect sun indoors and make a water schedule. Add fertilizer or cocopeat to soil if needed.
I've heard that we can add Peroxide mixed into water to give it more oxygene, is it right? I don't know which quantity and how frequently.....let me know if you know
Excellent presentation. Thanks for sharing your insight!
