One small point of contention from me is that Soul Calibur seems a tad oversized - twice the size bigger than what is seen in the game (Soul Calibur in-game had about the same size of a Jian sword), while Soul Edge is PERFECT! My nitpick aside, you guys did a GREAT JOB!

Honestly, to get the amount of detail needed for a weapon as intricate-looking as Soul Calibur, I'm not sure they could've easily done a small sword.

I think this is my favorite so far. The way the organic parts and the eye pops out, and the general complexity of both builds is really impressive. In addition to that...I might have to get this game, so it's also an effective commercial for Soul Calibur VI. Damn...and here I thought I was gonna manage to not spend a lot of money on games this month...well well

Your not wrong xianghuas soul calibur is suppose to be jian. A chinese straight sword similar to rapiers. That sword is way too big. Great detail but a huge letdown on its proportion

they probably couldn't make it the right size because the two prongs would've been too weak.
Soul Calibur's shape changes depending on who wields it, so it being a little bigger here can probably be excused as it adapting to suit the style of guys who wield larger swords.

When a game in its entirety gravitates around two swords, one of which was literally *made* with the shard of the other and MANATARMS makes both is... too big to comprehend.
And they made them both so much akin to their in-game models. You've truly outdone yourselves, you guys.

I agree these are amazing, and these guys definitely put a lot of masterful work into these builds, but I would have to say I still think that the engraved Excalibur is some of their best work (in my opinion). I would honestly be curious what they thought was their best project...

It's difficult to find the right length for the perfect Soulcalibur considering (like Soul Edge) it molds itself to match the will of it's wielder and their fighting style.
Except They made clear, this is Xianghua's, it should have been scaled down. I suppose all the work needed couldn't be done on a smaller piece.

A pair of guys named Peter Lyon and John Howe hand made all those swords though. Idk if there would be copy-write infringement if Man At Arms made replicas since United Cutlery holds the license for making replicas.

It's supposed to be the original Xianghua's Soul Calibur, a one handed sword which you can use for martial arts. So not too much heavy.
Maybe it was too hard to reproduce on that size, but don't tell me that it fits to the user because he wanted it bigger, even the team seem to have issues to handle it properly x]

It kinda feels like they took Xianghua's Soul Calibur and scaled it up to something Siegfried might use. I'm guessing it's because trying to do that kind of work on something the actual size of the sword in-game would've been impractical at best. Or maybe they just decided they wanted to do two ginormous swords in one build. :P
It is man-sized now and in game it is a one handed sword used by a girl....
How large they made it was impractical, it would of probably been more work on their part to make an actual sized Soul Calibur, but it would of been godly and made sense. Hell the split blade would be wonky for such a large sword, that's why it was so wobbly when they were swinging(yes I know swords wobble sometimes but not to such an extreme).
And don't bash on how small the sword is or that its "girly". One handed swords are meant to be "small" so they are easier to wield and you could be more precise with your swings/stabs. Its finesse over brute strength/power. That's why the current wielder of SC does a lot of fast/flowy movements as if they were dancing, as opposed to Nightmare whose movements are slow, straight forward, and heavy. If it were anyone else but Nightmare, it would be a waste of energy.
It's not only too big, it's also not quite Soul Calibur. They built a sort of hybrid between Siegfried's SCII version (Size), the Soul's Embrace from the SCII Opening (Handle), and Xianghua's Soul Calibur (General Profile).
Could be a possible story spoiler.

I wondered the same thing. Soul calibur should have been a smaller single handed sword. There was also an excessive amount of wobble in the blades. These guys aren't making functional blades. It's just show.

Because Soul Calibur is Soul Edge's light counterpart. They're the same sword, but one's good and the other one is evil. Wouldn't make sense if the two swords were completely different sizes.

Been waiting for Soul Edge for a long time, great build! And great team effort in the demo lol. Getting Soul Calibur as well is a great bonus, though I think it was kinda odd how large it was. I'm guessing it is so the two individual blades would have at least some amount of structural integrity? They were wobbling so much as it is. The way it is in the game is definitely an impractical design for a real weapon.
It's a magic sword that reshapes itself and resizes itself. In Xianghua's hands I think it becomes a lot smaller than it would normally be.
Amazing craftsmanship on both swords and I'm sure it was difficult to pick these two swords out of the many imaginative weapons in all six games. The whip sword would of looked awesome, but definitely to dangerous and problematic to wield around for the demo portion at the end.
You should do the Red Queen (Nero's sword) from Devil May Cry 4, and 5. Bonus points if you can actually make it rev up!
