good work
Jim love your open mindedness
I fell in love with Invincible, I'm a 54 year old Warrior, struggling to remain relevant, with my battle against Multiple Sclerosis, and I love Tool. I love this album, I can get lost in it.
Andrea The Outlaw stay strong, you are relevant. We all are.
March on soldier! MARCH ON!
@@shreyaspai3791 Always and forever, God bless you forever too 💪💪🧡🧡
@@BrannBergenBy Thank you friend, yes we are, we all have our own journey in life ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rock on Andrea... age and affliction are irrelevant. Your method of living is. Keep on livin!
This album was absolutely worth the 13 year wait
Descending gives a grown man goose bumps, makes me feel like I’m going on a journey to another dimension
You've got that right! ❤️
Invincible even sounds like an aging warrior going to battle one last time. It fits with the lyrics perfectly
sable mae the way invincible is structured really reminds me of right in two. Same sort of theme applies to right in two as well. By the end of the song everything is much more aggressive and falling apart. As if we can’t keep dividing ourselves much longer before we ruin ourselves entirely.
Exactly what it's about on the surface. Deeper, it's about aging in general. Wanting to remain "relevant" and "consequential". Remember, Maynard is 55 years old now, Danny Carey is 58, Justin is 48, and Adam is 54. None of them is "old" in today's terms, but they are much more mellowed and mature than they were 13 years ago, when 10,000 Days was released. Even that album showed much maturity beyond Lateralus. TOOL has moved beyond screaming and shouting, IMO.
Invincible is one last fight....descending speaks of my swan song and epilogue. May be our last new Tool album. I'm sure That was on their minds as we all age.
@@dennisyoung1783 Not sure what maturity you're talking about. To me, Lateralus was the most sonically mature album by far, save a few soungs off of their two most recent albus.
Love the eargasm at 27:20. Jim was really feeling it. Descending made me cry when I first heard it, the lyrics are so powerful and beautifully delivered. The instrumentals are expansive and emotionally overwhelming. All other music pales in comparison. I have listened to this album almost every day since August and it still delivers. I will patiently ride the spiral another 13 years if the resulting album is as good as Fear Inoculum. Thank you Tool.
26:50 Jim just stunned and lost for words...
My god! Descending!! What a master peace
Jimamazonas the master of peace. A peaceful master it is.
Master peace? yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/Master_Peace,_the_True_Dracoslaying_King
Mountain-breaking song
100%
I feel like it will definitely win a grammy.. I mean f**k grammies but regardless it will still win one I think.. What a massive song!
There are only two bands in my 65 years who wrote songs i never wanted to end. Pink Floyd and tool. The two greatest bands there ever were
I love how clear Maynard's voice is in this song. He wants you to hear and understand every word.
I love how tool has no front man...Maynard is merely another musician whom only adds his incredible voice when required! Each musician plays his part only to add substance to the songs and enhance the songs only. Fucking amazing stuff 🤙
Maybe now, although back in the day Keenan certainly went through the motions of being a front man, as vids from Undertow will demonstrate. It wasn't really until Lateralus that he started skulking like a manic vampire in the shadows and hence forth his time front of stage was done and dusted.
Mr Carey is the front man on this album
@@andrewlockett4569 I saw an interview recently, he said he stopped the frontman thing because he felt it was distracting from the music. I can understand that.
That evolution made this album so fucking good
@@mugwump7049 The man is an introvert, and he was tired of it being "The Maynard Show". I commend him for making that decision.
the crescendo of descending is so overwhelming..... i actually teared up at that exact same point where you just stared at the screen like.... jesus christ im overloading this is just too gd much. fantastic stuff. it really is.
this is so clearly dannys record. his magnum opus.
adam finally steps into his own which was amazing to hear..... but danny is the mvp of fear inoculum.
I cried when I heard Descending. Like, ugly cried.
It's too f'n beautiful for words. Tears of joy were shed.
Once invincible, now the armor’s wearing thin... heavy shield down
Holy shit....just dawned on me that at 7:30 it IS bass. Justin killed it there
Just gonna thumbs all of these as we move along here 👍
Same here lol
Yup
😂😂😂👍🏽
👍🎶🎸
Smart!
Descending is my current favourite, the second half starting with the slide guitar (7mins in) is simply sublime.
Pneuma, Descending, Culling Voices and 7empest have all had this place for me ^^ It changes at every listen. Just to hard to choose :P
@@Masamune7610 yes, my favourite changes with each listen.
Haha me too i keep discovering things each listen. Tbh that happens any tool song still to this day for me. Probably why they feel so timeless.. amazing details and this record has extraordinary mixing.. its blowing my head off! Descending drops my jaw every time though... im so proud of Adam’s playing.
So much YES! amazing guitar work on here. Gotta love it.
Goosebumps every time
Invincible. Raw. Real. Complete. Primal perfection. This is life shedding itself down to the heavy core.
This album has ruined other music for me this year.... so far above and beyond the “competition” I wonder when the rest will catch up?
It hard to listen to this album and then everything else... there just isn’t any comparison and craftsmanship.
Never.
Me to my friend I’ve been saying it since undertow
Descending is everything I thought it would be. So happy right now
I cannot get over just how good this album is. With 13 years of expectations and epic hype in the last few months, I wasn't expecting it to meet those.
It did, and then some. Best album I have ever heard.
You guys are full of shit. Just hyped up because it's new. Fake asses.
Eduardo Pedroza go back to enjoying your Fall Out Boy
@@elringogans8763 what crap do you listen to that will still give you the same emotion in 30 years?
@paula It's certainly better than their pre-Aenima recordings, and I'd also rate it above 10,000 Days.
Invincible is arguably the best track they have ever made.
After Lateralus
Antoine Moran invincible makes lateralus sound like the shaggs
Its too hard for me to pick a favorite song on this album
It's definately up there. It's a masterpiece.
Danny Octopus Carey yep!
Whole album is fantastic. Not a single bad song on it. Even intermission songs are awesome
Completely agree. I have to say they're much better when stoned and played loudly. The production of them is just... immersive
Agree!!!
liar, the filler songs are crap
Rob Diaz 😂😂😂😂😂 (points and laughs)
Yeah this Is a all fucking Amazing album it's too beautyfull for me
Adam Jones making me hear colors over here...
I'm going to get kicked out of my apartment. Louder every listen. Early on, and Tool favourites constantly change with me, but 7empest is leading the charge followed by Pneuma and invincible. You react like I react.
I haven't had music make me happy like this in a long time.
@G K Same here dude, I have listened to the album 4 full times but I can't even really pick a fav yet, I need to let it grow on me for a while. I learned with Lateralus that when I listen to a full Tool album, there will be songs that are still stuck in my head when I wake up in the morning, that's how I decide my favs. So far I like 7empest, Invincible, descending, Pneuma. Shit that's half of the album haha. IDK, I like the title track a lot too, I I've listened to the title track like 15 times or more so it's more familiar than the rest for now. I am still hearing new angles in 10k Days and even Lateralus when I listen to em now, but the song Wings 2 gives me friggin chills every time, and that album(10kdays) did not hit me right away the way F.I. is doing now, it took over a year before it really stuck for me, and I loved Tool, at first it was slightly disappointing. Now 10k is my fav Tool album, maybe soon to be second, after F.I, which has gotten/will get better every time I listen. It's like they put so many tiny details in that you can't catch it all consciously the first time, but as you get familiar after a few times the layers separate and the details reveal themselves. I love Tool.
Been 13 years for me
Headphones, man, headphones! :D
Invincible and Descending are absolutely incredible! I saw them both live at the very first show they played them at in Jacksonville 🤘🏼😁🤘🏼
Wow, so lucky, my bucket list, to see them live.
@@andreawheatley5528 See if there are any shows near you for their upcoming tour!
@@94clutz I think they are out west right now, I'm in Michigan, but I will check it out.
Lol I love that everyone watched both Jim and Juniio
@@jeremydenton4192 I just came across both of their channels within the past month or two! Seriously some of the best reaction channels! Lost In Vegas is pretty cool as well and some other channel/dude I can't remember off the top of my head
descending's guitar solo at the end is just everything i need in my life!
That solo is like witnessing a shower of comets flying above in all different colors and lighting up the empty plains on a barren planet.
@@Stubz_Perez
Beautifully said. This song is so, so stunning. It brings tears of joy to my eyes.
Well put, bro
It's a bit too early to tell because every song grows on me the more I listen to it, but as for now, I gotta say Invincible is my favorite song and exactly the TOOL I've been waiting 10,000 Days for!
Descending is amazing.
Seeing your face during Descending just makes me super excited for you to hear 7empest....couple more viddies before I get to that...but man....this album...right??
I've been listening to Tool for 27 years and every album has blown me away. What I have noticed about MJK's musical progression is a reflection of his personal journey through good times and bad. This album seems to be his reconciliation and unification of past experiences towards a greater understanding of ones place in the universe... Maybe I'm just really stoned though.
Me too WANA...
me too.
Long in tooth and soul
Longing for another win
Lurch into the fray
Weapon out and belly in
[Pre-Chorus]
Warrior struggling to remain consequential
[Chorus]
Bellow aloud
Bold and proud
Of where I've been
But here I am
[Verse 2]
Beating chest and drums
Beating tired bones again
Age-old battle, mine
Weapon out and belly in
[Interlude]
Tales told of battles won
Of things we've done
Caligula would grin
[Verse 3]
Beating tired bones
Tripping through remember when
Once invincible
Now the armor's wearing thin
Heavy shield down
[Pre-Chorus]
Warrior struggling to remain relevant
Warrior struggling to remain consequential
[Chorus]
Cry aloud
Bold and proud
Of where I've been
But here I am
Where I end
[Pre-Chorus]
Warrior struggling to remain relevant
Warrior struggling to remain consequential
[Instrumental Bridge]
[Refrain]
Tears in my eyes
Chasing Ponce de Leon's phantoms
So filled with hope
I can taste mythical fountains
False hope, perhaps
But the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting
Feeling time bearing down
[Instrumental Break]
[Refrain]
Tears in my eyes
Chasing Ponce de Leon's phantoms
So filled with hope
I can taste mythical fountains
False hope, perhaps
But the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting
Feeling time bearing down
[Outro]
False hope, perhaps
But the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting
Feeling time bearing down
Bearing down
Justin went off on that bass. My goodness.
9:43 hits and the old warrior is committed to Valhalla, trudging forward on his death march, at peace with his commitment.
Jim almost tears up during Descending. I don't blame him. I did, too. :)
Me too.
I'm 48 and Invincible is an awesome song but really hits me. Feel the sting, feeling time bearing down...…..
It's been a long time, like 10,000 days, since music gave me goosebumps...this is a masterpiece composition.
i like how they throw you back to Jambi with invincible.
Invincible has been kicking my ass all day
Legion Inoculant is what the universe would sound like if it had a voice.
that spot at around eight minutes in Invincible where Danny makes that double bass sound his bitch, jeebus. I literally had tears of joy when i heard it live for the first time, and that does not happen. Thanks again Jim!
"Beating tired bones.
Tripping through remember when.
Once invincible,
Now the armor's wearing thin.
Heavy shield down".
Yes, this is all about growing older.
Finding myself listening to this album all day. And every listen is like the first time hearing it
"Stay the grand finale
Stay the reading of our swan song and epilogue"
Totally an allusion to either the last 5 - 6 minutes of Descending or all of 7empest. Such good lyrics.
I hope it's not an allusion to this being their final album. Now that they're finally back, we need more!
Jim, gotta say man. You're videos just put me in a good mood. Simple as that. Thanks.
Man you can really feel how hard they all are playing in this album. Absolutely a beautiful thing to witness ! Great musicians playing there heart out
fall guy dead right man. They could have coasted and cashed out! But they made music instead. Art doesn’t care for expectations
I really don't understand the people who say they were lazy on this album. I mean don't they have ears?
I'm just in love with the death march part, I'd like a 30 minute loop of that for my workout
when r u talking bout
@@evening4092 I think he means the "swinging" part near the end of Invincible that sounds like the beginning of Jambi?
Like, the "Diggidy-dee-dee Diggidy-dee-dee-dee" (lmao) Or if you play guitar/bass, ||-3-0-0-0---0----3-0-0-0---0----0----||
@@evening4092 Exactly, the Jambi-ish, steady... death march :D
Omg that death march killed me!
Descending is my favorite off of this album, bit the other main tracks hold their own. Amazing album
I love the feeling while listening to Legion Inoculant when you are listening to all that eerie ambient sounds and you hear Maynard whispering BLESS THIS IMMUNITY! ^___^
Invincible? More like INCREDIBLE!
Even the palate cleansing interludes are amazing.
I sweet this album gets better every time I listen. Which is crazy because I almost lost my mind when I first listened.
What an Amazing vocal line
Stir us from our
Wanton slumber
Mitigate our ruin
Call us all to arms and order
Sound the dread alarm
Through our primal body
Sound the reveille
To be or not to be
Rise
Stay the grand finale
Stay the reading of our swan song and epilogue
One drive to stay alive
It's elementary
Muster every fiber
Mobilize
Stay alive
Stir us from our
Wanton slumber
Mitigate our ruin
Call us all to arms and order
Every time i got goosebumps over and over one Word *rise*
8:01 Danny Carey God-mode
He godmoded the entire album.
I can't stop listening to this album. The music is so complex, so wonderfully perfect in pitch, tempo, and beat. Every time I listen to it, I hear new things. Incredible. :)
i think i love this one even more than Pneuma (Invincible i mean)
28:25 hes actually shaking with glee
Tool understand nuance, texture and how to use a motif is different ways so that a song takes you on a journey but never seems wholly unfamiliar. They are very Pink Floyd in that respect.
I think Invincible is my favourite on the album.. that said, I now need to listen to the album about a million more times as these songs all seem to get better the more you go back to them :)
I love how tool can completely subdue people who think they understand time changes and counting. They are way above everybody on that account.
My favorite part about this album is you can ask a group of tool fans what their favorite song is and youll get 7 different answers. the big standouts are pneuma and 7empest among fans, but theyre all fantastic and thats the mark of a truly great album.
Agreed. I see people mentioning all the songs as their faves, one even said chocolate chip trip was the best he ever heard! At first listen Pneuma was the one for me, but a couple listenings later i'm starting to really dig on Descending and Invincible. Bah, they are all epic and worthy of 13 more years of scrutenizing.
Invincible is my current favorite. As always, the beauty of Tool is that my favorite songs by them rotate. Next week, it could be Descending or 7empest or Rosetta Stoned or Lateralus or The Grudge or Pushit or.........
goosebumps again and again when listening to this masterpiece.❤️🎶❤️
Invincible is a very relatable song. I feel it in the gut every time hear it.
12:35 Oh, my fucking God indeed!!!! Danny has a taste in fills that is incredible!!!
Album is epic🤯🎧
I've been watching several "review" videos, enjoy them all in different ways, but you being calm and quiet and just enjoying the music is so refreshing! I love this album so far, no favorites yet (they change too quick, lol) but Invincible is one I do relate to as a combat veteran who is getting long in the tooth as well, lol. Thanks for putting these up Jim, you rock Brother!
These songs are absolutely mindblowing!
I also refused to listen to them until the album came out, I heard PART of Descending last time I saw them and that was enough for me to not want to spoil the rest.
No one can agree which songs are the best because they are all just so good!
weird thing about tool. their live versions are almost always the same length as the studio version. within about 5 seconds.
I used to think Tool needed to be listened to as loud as the speakers could handle. In the many years between Tool albums I have grown up a lot and started to appreciate the music more. It was watching the many Tool reaction videos by Jim that made me slow down and really listen. And also buy decent headphones. My mind continues to be blown.
All (good) music needs to be listened to loud.
This whole album is pure gold, love it
Invisible has been a special song for me. It came out (the live version at least) when I was going through some health problems. The timing of the release really hit home with what that song is about
I LOOOOOOOVE TOOOOOL!!!!!!!! Love your reaction. Keep it up, and always be you.
So many influences noticeable on here @1:18-Rush “Losing It”... @13:10 is absolutely ELP “The Endless Enigma” many others
You are the only person I have seen react to Invincible that recognizes that it is a bass solo.
The great thing about Tool is that you get so caught up focusing on the masterful performance of one instrument that it takes a moment to notice that other masterful performances of other instruments are going on at the same time. For instance, the guitar at 24:00 is so prominent that when you notice Danny Carey's drumming in the background, you go, "Holy s**t!" It's like several fireworks finales all going off at the same time.
Amazing album
A velvet textured beautifully rich album and I love it
But of course
Watching you react to these songs is priceless, in a great way.... I get the same way with my music, though sometimes I can get quite animated....... hahahaha
LOL it made me laugh my butt off when you said "oh my fucking god" xD
The whole album is a masterpiece, but Invincible is my favorite tune. So haunting and personal.
I love Invincible... one of my favs together with Lateralus
Invincible is just.. wow
picked up on the bass solo by ear 0.o noice! My interpretation of Invincible is a bit more negative than others perhaps, I think he's sort of condemning retired soldiers who got away with war crimes in iraq and such and have come back and started turning to extremist ideas to remain relevant~ That's just how I hear it though, not trying to hurt anyone's feelings with it~ (it always takes me like 5-10 listens to really hear everything going on in tool songs, looks like you were hearing the drums a lot in this listen? always a good rule of thumb to listen to tool songs a fair few times to really soak them up! Especially on this album~) EDIT: just watched your summary video and you mentioned what I said at the end of this comment, sorry!)
What I really love in your reactions is that you do not interrupt. You listen. Thanks! Always a pleasure. man!
Also 9:30 best DJENT EVER!
maynard james voice is somewhere beyond
Love this so much!
Thank you for this ☺️
I did listen the Invicible, when the crabby mobile filmed live footages took over the youtube, but also quickly decided to wait the album, because this sounded so poor and I was sure it'd be better with the prober studio sounds. Invincible does remind me a bit of the Rush's song Losing It (album: Signals), but not to the point, that it would be disturbing.
Oh damn, you resisted listening to the live bootlegs, lol I couldn't do it. I saw "new tool songs live" and had to hear em, and I was fairly happy with what I heard, but they did not do the album versions justice at all, not that they were bad performances, they were played perfectly as far as I can tell, but the bootlegged sound quality is of course not great, there are people talking in the background, I'm yelling "shut up!" at my computer. I definitely do regret listening to them early, oh well.
Excellent. Didn't want to end...
Thanks for just listening to this album and allowing it to play thru without pausing every thirty seconds. Reactions don’t need to be driven by any and all thoughts spoken out loud. Keep it up man. Just found your channel and can’t wait to check out the rest of the videos you’ve done!!
Invincible is sooo damn good! Descending may just be the best song on the album though, its just flawless
Tool the pride of fucking Los Angeles California!!!!!!
Thanks again Jim :)
ole Jimmy doing god's work
Tool is to music what Stanley Kubrick and Sergio Leone were to motion pictures. You need eyes ( 3 ) ears, patience and probably some undiscovered series of extra sensory perceptions that only aliens from Andromeda galaxy possess! Ah bollocks, I hear em cry!
Every Tool song is like their PA system arriving late to the show, and we gotta hear it's commute to the stage...
Immense review as always Jim Bob 👍🏼👊🏼 loyal subscriber 🔥
