I would consider that shower in an extreme no other option scenario. It is nice though. I'm a tad bit older with knees that wouldn't allow me to sit cross legged in there. I have a power wash/camp shower combo for outdoors but most likely I'd choose the bucket and wash rag method if it were cold. Nice demo though. Always nice to see what's out there.

I think you can connect the hose so as you use the water it can drain. I don’t know the purpose of the screen floor…perhaps it is a stabilizer for the sides? ..and you can cut that hose down to fit..but the bucket could be placed outside and then the hose into it from the inside of the van.. and there are towels you can buy ..just add water and they puff out to a bigger towel to wipe the inside instead of using a good towel or get a towel they use to wipe down your vehicle after a car wash.. and maybe I missed it but how did you not get your c,others wet while redressing…

Outside showering is just easier, even if you have to wear a bathing suit. The whole point of this rig is that it makes an indoor bath in a low roof plausible. She mentions a stool. The entry step stool should make it possible for those of us who cannot squat for 5 minutes.

...also so many videos mention outdoor shower but I'm like where are these people parked that they feel comfortable just standing naked outside with usuallyno mention of any privacy thing over them? If it's in bathing suit near beach or outdoor swimming area then I can see that being no big deal maybe but that's not a full shower. Indoor wet bath of some sort in a well-curtained vehicle seems like great options for if ever needed.

I appreciate the candid demo. Growing up, we did not have an indoor bathroom until I was in the 6th grade. Basin baths were the norm, including washing our hair. I have a collapsible pet pool I bought to use as a shower in my van, but never actually used it. Basin baths are just easier. I use washcloths, not baby wipes for the bath (after pre-washing the private parts with the disposable wipes). I have a chux pad I lay on the floor, to avoid water dripping on the floor of the van. I also have a pop-up shower tent that I could set up between the barn doors in back. Have never used it either. I might if I felt the need for a true shower. I am thankful for my high roof van, but I think I would use a basin bath esp. in a mini-van.

Lol very candid, real. Thanks for sharing! * telescopic poles (instead of the fiberglass poles) would be handy for getting out of the shower. If you could just press the pin on the side and slid the pole down to the next pin hole. Then you could climb out more easily without taking it all the way down. Just a thought for the crafty people out there.

When we had a water shortage, we used a one gal. milk jug, the caps are easy to poke holes in to create a shower flow.

    Some ideas...
    * The mesh floor may come in handy to protect the bottom (floor) IF you do decide to use a stool in there (or get a rubber mat under the stool.
    * Turn it inside out (if possible), and it might be easier to dry (you might even be able to put the support rods in to make it sturdier and easy to dry?). You might even be able to turn it upside down to dry outside the vehicle in the wind.
    * I think a face cloth would come in real handy, also maybe a small bucket of water inside the tube maybe?
    * A rubber mat could even help your feet dry off, if you use more water, or you're not parked on a slope.

I have a wire cubby in the Hatch area for storage. I also have a platform bed with some storage space underneath. I have kept the smaller section of the backseat as well as the two front seats for when my grandchildren travel with me. The rest of the floor space is taken up by my power chair. I am by no means a minimalist and definitely travel with too much stuff. And I still have more stuff for camping and emergency gear at home outside Palestine TX, for the day I can score a larger rig. Unfortunately, due to the wheelchair modification, I cannot have a rear hitch for a tiny trailer or even a storage box on the back, and being in a wheelchair it is hard to access anything on the roof. But I do have 2 100 watt solar panels and a roof box up top (for when other people travel with me). As well as a Bluetti EB70 n EB3a solar generators n a 100 watt Yargo portable solar panel. My dream vehicle is a short wheelchair Bus conversion with plenty of storage space! Safe Travels & Enjoy YOUR Journey

It's the only one I've seen that solves the problem of not being able to climb in and out over a 3ft tall side. I bought the tallest stool that you have in the description. I also got a 5 gallon bucket with an immersion heater and a rechargeable shower nozzle. This solves a very real problem of expensive gas station showers, lack of gyms in the wilderness and I'm simply tired of not being able to shower at home! FYI: Fishtank siphons work great to drain kiddie pools and other options that dont have a drainage tube

with a professional microfiber twisted loop towel (heavy quality, 1600-1800 gsm) from car detailing your shower will dry super fast. You come near water with the towel, it magically attracts it... Don't forget to wash detailing towels with microfiber detergent for car detailing, it needs only a small quantity. Towels will be like new for years instead of hardening and loosing drying ability. i use different types of detailing towels inside the camper, also for drying dishes, glass, or cleaning without a vacuum cleaner. btw I enjoyed your vlog very much, thanks for sharing your experience.

I do not live in my van full time. It is a Toyota Sienna. I do like the fact that I can potty in my van using a bucket. I also like the idea of taking a shower in my van when I am on the road and boondock at a Walmart , Cracker Barrel and so forth. How do I shower? All seats rear of the fronts are removed. I line the recess for the rear seats with shower pan liner and use an existing hole as a drain . That hole is retrofitted with a sink drain and I use only biodegradable soap. I sit on a collapsible step stool and use a 1.5 gallon garden sprayer . In the end I squeegee the water a bit to drain out. Then again I am only 5 feet 4 inches tall which helps in maneuvering in that small space. To warm the water I use a couple rubber hot water bottle placed on my dash while driving. Hope this gives some folks some ideas. I do not have a kitchen like some builds. Then again my Sienna is not a build per se but equipped for road trips. Regards

Interesting idea. I use a foldable pet pool , a 2 1/2 gallon bucket, 1 gallon of warm water (heated with my electric saucepan) and a sponge to wash up in my minivan. The unfolded pool can kind of adjust itself to fill the uneven floorspace of the van. When done I fold up the pool and pour the water outside, then put the folded pool upside down in the bucket where any residual moisture will drain, which can be poured out later.
I stand on my knees (with knee pads) and crouch low to the ground while washing. I try not to get too aggressive with the sponge to minimize any splashing outside of the pool.

My shower set up is two shower curtains around the lift gate and overlapped using magnetic clips (one curtain protects my modesty, the other keeps water out of the van/suv), a bamboo mat that gets me off the ground/dirt, a collapsible bucket and a USB rechargeable pump with a spray nozzle. It all packs away super compact. I use about 1 to 2 quarts per shower unless I'm washing my hair (long hair so another quart or two for that once or twice a week). I don't technically shower in the vehicle but I really wouldn't want to even if I had a high roof Sprinter, Promaster or Transit. Van showers are a waste of great storage space IMHO, lead to mold and mildew issues without proper ventilation and more things to repair if you drive on rough roads. I normally use an outdoor shower when it’s warmer weather but in the colder weather and in places where people are I use a collapsible basin with a tarp on the floor, then start with the hair then the upper body then the private parts ending with the feet. I bought it for me and my nephew to use on my property I use to have in Florida and we only filled it like 3 times and showered every day. And the water was very warm. Now that wouldn’t work in colder climates. But you went thru a lot making this video and we thank you.

😂😂 That seems like an awful lot of work to have a shower.

Hey Jesse! You’re not wrong… lol! But now that I’ve had a little practice with it I think I’m going to like it.

She is young and can handle all the set up / break down detail! A disabled person is quite different..

I too shower in my minivan. It is a bit of a job but with practice it gets easier.

I was In tears when you were frantically searching for the drain while in the process. That’s a lot of work for a shower but is suppose there are times when it would be needed.
We only camp not live in our van so I would wait till I found a place to shower other wise wash cloth clean up.
