Dooku 9:1 In my book. Windu is younger, but Vapaad is not as much of an edge as most think. Dooku is far too discaplined to use the DarkSide against Windu, and while he may not have been involved with Vapaad's development he was a Jedi at the time & asociated closly enough with Vapaad's co-developer - Sora Bulq - that he could have experienced the form personally. Windu was no stranger to dueling but like most Jedi of his time saw Makashi as unnecessary. Dooku has all the knowledge, skill & experience to win a purely martial contest with anyone. Add in Force abilities & his age almost becomes a non-issue. If Sidious could indeed defeat him I suspect it would be due to mastery of techniques the ansient Sith developed or those of the Banite Sith, of which Dooku would have no knowledge.

Yoda is stated to be twice as powerful as Dooku during their encounter in AotC. Mace later defeats Palpatine cleanly in RotS, and canon vapaad no longer creates a super-conducting loop; meaning Mace won on pure skill. Dooku's only chance of winning would be during TotJ. By the time of the prequels, Mace folds him like a napkin.
You do know, Dooku was told to go easy on Anakin by Palps and when he asked "What if young Anakin should best me?" Palps said he'd step in if that happened
Dooku is clearly the best pure swordsman. Against Windu on Ridley he demonstrated that Vapaad was useless against him. On Geonosis and Vjun, Dooku demonstrated that pure skill with the saber can almost bridge the difference between him and Yoda in terms of sheer Force power. In their duel on Tatooine, Dooku demonstrated that on his best day he can absolutely defeat Yoda. Darth Plagueis also considered Dooku to be a superior swordsman to Sidious and a grave threat to himself. In terms of pure swordsmanship, skill using the Force mid-saber, BB IQ and experience, Dooku is without peer.

@@magnushenriksson6580 It is in the novel "Darth Plagueis" which is perhaps the best Star Wars novel ever. But yes, in the book Plagueis considers Dooku by the far the most dangerous Jedi of the era. Not only because he believes Dooku could best either of them in a duel, but because Dooku would have completely reformed the Jedi Order had he become the Grand Master. And because Dooku commanded such respect and political skill that he could reform the Republic. Making things better for the Jedi or Republic was detrimental to the Sith plan. So, that is also why Plagueis believed it was possible to turn Dooku and, in fact, in the book, Plagueis considered Dooku a replacement for Sidious since at least 40 BBY as Sidious was climbing the political ladder, but perhaps enjoying himself too much at the time. Had Sidious failed to kill Plagueis that night, Plagueis would have made Dooku his apprentice. It seems that any which way, Dooku was destined to become Darth Tyranus. It is interesting to think how a Plagueis/Tyranus relationship would have progressed. Dooku was obsessed with Prophesy and Force esoterica. I think they would have been a much more cooperative pair than Plagueis/Sidious. Whats more, it is entirely possible Dooku is content as Apprentice and would have no need to slay Plagueis. Together they may well have succeeded in cheating death.
The Great count wins against mace . Dooku was an extremely disciplined individual that always kept his composure. If you didn't relise , he never actually drew much from the Darkside as he didn't really need to because of his confidence in his lighsaber skills alone . Proof is the fact that he never had sith eyes (rarely anyway) . He also was a master of hiding his dark side presence , which he learnt from sidous, who was thee master of the ability. Mace windu vapad would not be much use.. Mace will eventually overstrike using his aggressive form, leaving an opening for dooku to take advantage of , with speed and precision . Ggs to Mace, ONE of the greatest duelist in the jedi order.
I mean in the clone wars, you can see Anakin get closer and closer to Doku’s skill level. But in the revenge of the sith novel didn’t Palpatine tell Doku to let him win?
That was the plan, but when he realized (early on) that he was in danger, he was trying to survive. But the text makes it clear... it doesn't matter what Dooku did, all Anakin had to do was decide, "... and he did."
Also, by RotS, the dark side of the force had taken it's toll on him due to him being advanced in age when he had fully turned. I feel like he was at his peak early on in the clone wars. This, and the fact he wasn't supposed to fight with the intent to kill, contributed greatly to his downfall.

Dooku was always better than anakin. Anakin was just pure power and speed. Anakin skill got good enough finally that his power and speed overcame dooku. It’s like Brock lesnar winning the UFC championship. He wasn’t a better fighter than almost anyone he fought. But he was good enough that his overwhelming power and speed carried.
Just my 2 cents on why Obi Wan always seems to lose against Dooku, it’s because ironically I believe that Dooku’s mastery of Makashi is the perfect counter to Soresu. Despite Soresu’s focus on perfect defense, a lightsaber still can only perfect so much of the body. Unlike Djem So meant to break through a person’s defense, Makashi is all about aim for the tiny cracks in the armor. This kinda creates a statistical triad between Anakin, ObiWan, and Dooku: Anakin’s power will always best Dooku, Dooku’s precision will always pierce ObiWan’s guard, and ObiWan’s resilience will always weather Anakin’s aggressive.
Both Dooku and Anakin are a step above Obi-Wan in terms of overall ability, though that does not stop him from being one of the best ever. Dooku was strong enough to not only out duel Ben, but later on rip right through his defenses and force choke him then incapacitate him. Older Anakin on the other hand was an anomaly. When fighting for those he cares about or against those he couldn't care less for, he beame a wall and smothered any foe. But as Vader, his focus noticeably dropped when dueling someone who meant everything to Anakin. That contributed to him regressing mentally to episode 2 levels Mustafar, and getting slashed in the face by Ahsoka
I could be wrong about this, but in Legends, Mace Windu is stated to be Dooku's equal by the time of ROTS. Mace Windu is also stated to have mastered all forms of lightsaber combat. Also, he has the rare force ability called Shatterpoint. Great video, BTW 👍

In Legends by TPM Era he was noted in multiple reports, reportings, observations, and observors that he was a peer to Yoda And Mace as a saber duelist and a close second to Yoda in force potential and current force ability and economies yeah.
A lot of people are not going to like what I have to say but Mace Windu will get his ass kicked by Count Dooku because when you are fighting inform to you have to stay calm and collective in order to perfect the form and to do the techniques right as a fencer that is how we were always taught so if Count Dooku's form is very similar to fencing he will always stay, no matter how hard or how dangerous the fight gets

Just one thing I noticed: Qui-Gon didn´t actually use Ma-Kashi, Qui-Gon used Ataru, Yoda´s speed-focused form, allowing himself to raise the bar of his physical limits via the force. He was however not the greatest practicioner of lightsaber combat, being, as commonly understood, the perfect jedi, only using his lightsaber when truly needed, relying on the force for almost everything.

Yes Vaapad probably wouldn't be as effective against Dooku so Mace would simply switch to another form. I mean he must have mastered other forms since he created Vaapad himself that means he initially studied and learned a different form. Considering he survived the battle of Geonosis I'd say Shien or Djem So would be likely forms which are the perfect forms to use against Makashi.

I think you forgot to mention his saber hilt resembles the sword on of Lee’s ancestors. As if we needed more reasons to appreciate this character.
