The time given for the voting was completely ridiculous - a grand total of 30 minutes for community interaction, limited to a specific time and requiring a twitter account. Not even 0.01% of the playerbase actually voted or was able to vote. If they were serious about community input they'd have the polls open for at LEAST an entire week, with the option to vote directly from the launcher or from the minecraft website - you know, making it accessible to as many players as possible?
JAiZ- I begged my parents to let me make a twitter account for like 2 mins but they said no. I wanted badlands to get updated, but, even though I paid Minecraft over 30 dollars in games, I have no say in the new updates whatsoever. I feel like many people feel the same way. Like you, I want Mojang to put it on the Minecraft website. I think the launcher wouldn’t be the best way, because many people use Bedrock, not Java. I totally agree with you though. Minecon Live was just a scam for views. I’d say about 25 percent of Minecrafters had a chance to vote- but probably only 20 percent voted. I wish I could complain more, but I’m clean out of words. Very true. As most of Minecraft's player base is mostly between 10-20 years old at a rough estimate most of them don't have atwitter account as it seems most people use other social platforms instead. Why have a livestream open on so many different platforms and the vote only open on one, lesser used network?
I totally agree, these updates aren't biome updates. They are just extra features that happend to be in a certain biome. A actual biome change would require something like the new oceans or the upcoming nether, a special fog or different colors. For me the updates sound like they finished a biome off, for the last time, but the feel for the taiga biome didn't change at all. Mojang should: Put actual work into rethinking the biomes or rename the biome vote to feature vote.
hobrin I’m on Xbox one not Xbox 360. Consoles also include ps4, ps3 and so on. I just feel like it bull shit that we haven’t even gotten foxes yet but we get the lame ass berry bush it came with! I mean what the hell its like half a year since the update released!
"Is it a block, is it a particle, is it an entity?" No. The Tumbleweed is a peaceful mob that has knockback 12 on impact and causes levitation and slow falling for 20 seconds.
@RandomShtuffs where did you get this info? Because with f3 open, it doesnt count tall grass as entities in the entities counter. AND it also doesnt have health, meaning its definitely not an entity.
Mojang's update philosophy is just wrong. They don't want to shock the playerbase with too many features, but that's exactly what the game needs. When you ask players about their fondest memories in Minecraft, or the strongest ones, a lot of the responses are gonna be about starting out, not knowing the game, and being scared of the dark. Now that Minecraft has settled and most of the features haven't changed in ages (ahem, cave update), MInecraft is just too familiar, too unchallenging. I love 1.14 and 1.13 especially (like you said, 1.12's oceans are basically unplayable now) but the game really does need more
I think the biggest problem is the shallowness of new features implemented. Features like a new dolphin or fox aren't going to keep you playing. They are just things you look at for maybe 20 minutes and then the game is the same as it was before the update again. They need to add features that have unexpected behaviour. The observer block was a good example of this. Although it made block update detectors redundant, many new things were now possible, adding hundreds if not more hours of gameplay, even though I can't imagine Mojang spent a lot of time on developing that feature. I haven't played the game in years now because nothing new or innovative has been added since. If they would add something fresh that could offer more fun things to explore, I could consider playing again, but I'm afraid this will not happen anytime soon...
@@literalynxxo okay. ive never heard anyone say it was bad but whatever. that update was good, introducing new mechanics, mobs and more. nowadays, we get a biome vote which adds 1 block, changes a biome a little, and adds 1 absolutely useless mob.
@@literalynxxo He means beta 1.8, which was an update which changed so much, and was really cool. It was also called "The Adventure Update", which he said clearly. I haven't heard that anybody disliked any features in that update.
Finally someone who says minecraft is a good game and says that all its updates are good when they are literally just trash thrown on a plate and the maple syrup poured on top
The update aquatic and the soon to be nether updates are perfect examples. If something needs redoing, completely strip it and start again. Like you said, adding 1 mob, a new decorative block and then a new grass/foliage is not enough.
EVILBUNNY28 hello from the future,There is hoglins a new mob 10 I think new decorative blocks A new Ore (Netherite) A new god tier armor Netherite Gold Has a new use 3 new Biomes
You hit the nail on the head Sarc. I miss the older updates that were pretty much complete surprises. Things have changed. While I enjoy the community interaction with the voting, I miss the mystery and fun with the game's updates. Also Minecon Live is a joke.
Not to burst your bubble or anything, but even if they wanted to bring back the old style of updates, they couldn't. In case you haven't noticed, we live in an age of leaks.
R3mix I can agree with you on that. I wasn’t around much for that era of the game, but I can see the appeal. I don’t think Mojang is ruining things nearly as much as most people say, though.
Savanna is the worst biome in the game. Roofed Forest is annoying, ugly, and is only used for the wood. Mesas have a cool block palette and that's it. Mega Taigas are my favourite biome and they still kinda suck. Bland, unpopulated, lack of foliage... The biomes in this game have always sucked. 1.13 was the best update since 1.7 because it overhauled half the world and added entirely new gameplay and meta. Unfortunately, it appears 1.13 was a fluke.
BakedPotato_ because 1.14 and 1.15 aren’t very good. 1.13 isn’t perfect, but it was a step in the right direction. 1.14 was disappointing because villages basically only got a mediocre reskin. Villages still seem hollow and are extremely vulnerable, requiring you to pour lots of time to protect it for minimal rewards. 1.15 is awful though. Bees are a cool edition and everything they added was fine, but to release it as a single update is absurd. Also1.14 has unfinished aspects and 1.15 didn’t even follow through with it lmao (blacksmith table and fletching table)
Sockmother we’ve always had small updates between big ones we had 1.7 which changed world gen massively(even out side the new biomes), then 1.8 which didn’t do much, 1.9 changed combat(for the better in my opinion) and made the end infinite, 1.10-1.12 were small, 1.13 overhauled oceans, 1.14 redid villages, and yea 1.15 was minor, but 1.16 is gonna completely overhaul the nether and adds 3D biome support(which could be used in a cave update)
love the fact that modders can basically create a new game in the time it takes the entire mojang programming team to add a new type of bush. Still waiting on foxes over here on bedrock...
This reminded of Better Than Wolves mod. Back in Beta 1.4 wolves were added. One of the moders, FlowerChild was dissapointed, that Mojang spent a month working on update and made only useless wolves. So, in the same amount of time he modded mechanical power mod and named it Better Than Wolves. In a month he added: cement, hibachi, block dispensers, cauldron (that actually boils food), new light block, detector block (think about observer, but back in Beta!), mill stone, hand crank, various side slabs,etc... I definitely agree that Mojang could work more effectively.
They're not creating a new game if they're just modding, now are they? Anything Mojang adds is an official product, which is more strictly regulated compared to unofficial mods. Modders also don't have to worry about budgets, pleasing shareholders, quality assurance, make sure it works on every system ever, doesn't conflict with anything, doesn't take up too many resources, doesn't infringe on other IPs, merchandising, administration and all that other fun business stuff.
That Leetri Guy except that often mods get more support and bug fixing than actual Minecraft does. Sure they don’t have to please shareholders, but if they really want MC to become immense again they really should do things like revolutionize the exploration and mining aspects of the game. Whitelight had recent video where he talks about adding dynamic systems to the game, and I agree that it needs that badly.
well if you compare it to what a team of that size with that experience could have dine; yes. But I think the updates are coming out in good intervals with about the right amount of change so that you fully get the experience from each update but still often enough to make you have some interest in them. Now I personally don't play the game that much so that might be why but hey, that's how it is and I like it
I think the largest issues are the many different play styles that a sandbox game offers. For example, you have the technical community (see the many times they reworked iron golem spawning in 1.14, even after release), the PvP community (who still haven’t gotten over 1.9 yet) and the modded community, who need a stable base to build on to make the mod frameworks - it takes a while for there to be a big shift in which version mod and mod pack devs use the most, in my time playing the game, there was 1.7.10 for a long time, then 1.10, and right now 1.12.2. Also don’t forget that the Java team are making major technical changes to improve performance every update, Bedrock is getting RTX support and also has a large number of major bugs still in that version, there are additional demands on a relatively small studio (compared to games with a similarly large install size), that still having these new updates come out once or twice a year, for free, is still a great thing.
@@itskdog similiar install size? Isn't Minecraft like 600mb. I think that's what it was last time I downloaded it.. There are games made by only 1 person, yes 1, that are plenty of gigs and are actually good, not perfect, but successful games
My headcanon is that even now, 7 years later, the whole mojang team is just desperately trying to fix the deepseated coding issues with the java edition of the game, and every few months a siren goes off in the office and they spend a few hours coding a new update, send it out, then go back to fixing the game.
I think those biomes which lost will all be updated in some "Biomes" Update. Though now seeing that Moutains will only be updated by 1.17, I dont see much hope for this
I believe that update will occur, but not the way you guys want it to. Likely when (so sure that I'm not even saying "if") they do the biome overhaul update, it will just be updating the biomes that lost the previous votes and they need to clean the backlog. Because Minecraft is running off of Microsoft now, they don't take risks anymore. They do minor things rather than attempt to "wow" anyone. You can even see this idea put into their events. They no longer hold any more Minecons because they're unable to control the crowd and they have to worry about expectations. With Minecraft Live they have a studio audience that they can vet in. They have canned laughter and applause. They've blocked out all conversation about the next "big move" or update and don't plan on recognizing their mistakes (they can't directly address that the community is divided in the combat mechanics, and make it seem lighter than it needs to be) It's great to hope, but Minecraft's development has steered in another direction.
what are you talking about! llamas: carry stuff parrots: new pet, great dancer, makes you look like a pirate dolphins: you can go so fast turtles: new helmet and eggs Polar bears: Fox: auto farms cats: yay! another pet!
@@portemanteau3802 Level 8 Hey, I'm just quoting the video here. I love all the all the animals in Minecraft! @@portemanteau3802 Foxes are mostly useless though... because Sweet Berries are useless. Its a mediocre food source you can barely eat (because right clicking a grass/dirt block with it causes it to be placed instead of eating it) and you can't even craft any better foods with it. You can manually farm them much easier than making an automatic one using Foxes, and aside from the Sweet Berry trade that Butcher Villagers have, they can't be used for anything.
I honestly never really thought or even realized this until now. I mean what use are polar bears, parrots, foxes, and pandas other than a good PR tactic? I agree that the ocean update was amazing, but the only useful thing I can say about, for example, the taiga update is that berries grow fast and are a very reliable food source. Mojang really needs to up its game and update a really fundamental feature.
@@mask3dal3xx Parrots are actually kind of nice atmospherically, add a nice third dimension to movement in the jungle. But polar bears... I cry every time.
Mystic-Malevolence I guess you can say the same thing for polar bears but for it to be a nice feature it needs to come along with a bunch of other features and polar bears and parrots are just so lonely.
@@timtam3730 have you even seen the Nether Update features? I mean, Piglin's will be useful because they are basically villagers 2.0 but they have exclusive drops, and Striders are far by far the most useful peaceful mob they have added in a long time.
@@drakejoshofficialyoutubech5569 Yeah I guess Striders maybe useful because crossing lava oceans is usually never even an option for most players. But I still think that the amount of uselss mobs has been increasing, for instance, you have the most useful mobs like Sheep (Wool and mutton), Cows(leather and beef), Chickens (meat and eggs), Golems, Horses,( tbh maybe even Striders 😒) , Villagers, Wolves, Cats, Blazes (probablythe most important mob because it's part of the games progession and potions, duh), Creepers (Gunpower) and Endermen and useless mobs like Llamas, Bees (yes, I think bees suck because they are so hard to farm) , Squid (you used to be able to milk them though), Parrots (ehh, they are still pretty neat to keep as pets) , Pandas, Polarbears (Top Tier Uselessness, can't even get their hide as a drop, which would be cool though), Turtles (yes you can make the stupid turtle helmet but it's not even worth the effort when you can just make an underwater breathing potion), Dolphins ( seriously, when was the last time you fed a Dolphin to find a ruin?), Foxs (cool game mechanics though), Fish (except maybe the puffer fish, because you can already get a lifetime supply of fish from afk fishing), Wandering Traders (I don't even trade, I just kill them for the leashes). I will tell you that some of the more recent useful mobs are the Drowned (because you get a trident with crazy new enchantments), Phantoms (Not really that useful but you do need them to repair your Elytra) and Pillagers (Some of the few hostile mobs you can fight during the day plus, you need to kill the captain to trigger a raid, where you can get some rare loot like Totems of Undying). I really thought about putting bees under useful but didn't because of all the times I raged quit after trying to farm them. Just one hit and they're all after you, of course you don't die but you lose all the bees you worked so carefully to farm. After writing all this, I realized that the most useful mobs are the ones that help you progess in the game, which is why the Blaze is probably the most useful mob because you need them to make potions, the most useful game mechanic in Minecraft and to make eyes of ender, in order to get to the end.
@@timtam3730 I still think that the mobs that we are getting from the nether update are some of the most useful mobs that we have gotten in a long time (even the zoglin because now we won't need lava to kill cows or other peaceful mobs). But I agree that with the other updates, we have gotten pretty useless mobs. I'm hoping that they have realized this and that is why they have made these new mobs have some kind of use other than aesthetic. On the other hand though I get the point that these useless mobs make the world more lively, but even then they should be adding these after they fix some of the game's glaring problems like caves and the end. Just one last thing, what are your opinions of the vulture that they will be adding with the badlands/mesa part of the biome vote. Personally, I think they are going to be Phantom level of annoying but without the membrane, which is going to make not just a useless mob, but one that might actually hurt the game experience.
I agree with everything you said! Finally, someone who steps back for a moment and tries to look at the game from an objective perspective! If only Mojang would listen...
Meanwhile in the studio... Dev: hey why don't we add another real life animal in the game!, like the minecraft community would suggest anything and even care to notice. If they add more stupid shit like animals and anything cute, i would really like to contact microsoft and ask for a refund.
@@dellet4000 This is the thing i hate the MOST! They don't add sharks cuz they are not familly friendly, they add useless dolphins, polar bears, when we dont even have regular bears and foxes and pandas which are cute, period. They make us BEG for a shitty biome update and make us vote for it like this is what we want. They tell us to vote in the minecraft feedback forum, and then they completely ignore it. They take forever to get updates out, and when they're out, they are full of bugs which take another few months to be partially fixed. Back in the day, we would get things like Wither Boss, Horses, actual biomes and cool stuff. Do they let us turn of new combat system? Do they let us make mods so we can get something actually good in the game? Do they make the game free? No. But they even took 2 years to get 1.9 out. This company doesnt deserve this community. The mobs were the best thing in minecraft. Were.
Dragos Niculescu some of what you said is completely false. Dolphins are some of the coolest mobs in Minecraft and they have multiple uses and are just general fun. Foxes are interesting and at least add variety. Polar bears and pandas are useless but they pretty much exist to go with a specific biome that is otherwise bland or pointless. Early Minecraft lacked much content so of course early updates were big things. Making the game free is pointless because it’s really cheap for what you get from it. 20 dollars for hundreds of hours of content, access to servers and multiplayer, access to any mod, etc. Also I don’t get your point with mods. Minecraft has been moddable since before creative mode was a thing. Minecraft even added things like horses from the Mo’ Creatures mod and worked with the mod creator to add them. Base Minecraft can take hundreds of hours out of you, then after that you can enjoy updates that give you more content, servers which are there are thousands of, and mods which there are also thousands of.
Everyone: Can we have a cave update? Mojang: I like llamas, let’s add llamas! Everyone: but- Mojang: Come back in 2020 to see the next real life animal we’ll add!
Stratowind I do agree that we need a Cave update and a Nether update. Though in my opinion what they are might do with the Nether update I don’t really think is the best thing. I don’t know I might like it when it comes out but on paper it just doesn’t sound all to good to me
It still baffles me that Mojang, a large company with incredible funding, finds a way to pump out some of the least amount of content I’ve ever seen in a game. Especially considering how easy it is to code Minecraft.
It's not about quantity is about quality. Those biome mods are at the same level as Mojang's biomes. Minecraft is like an ocean but with no depth, there is no need to make this ocean already bigger.
If they want the endangered species to be promoted as an education tool there SHOULD be positive benefits to the player for trying to make sure these creatures are around. Maybe like beacon like buff or the dolphin buff.
Yeah I mean it's not complicated to code it so that if these mobs have the proper food and are in the correct biome and have enough free room then they give you a buff for being near them
Now you can use soul speed on soulsand, depth strider, speed 2, and *dolphins grace* to go insanely fast. But honestly, almost half the mobs literally do nothing.
See, the problem with that is it encourages players to find ways to force the animals into serving them, which isn't really conservation. For example, people have come up with a number of ways to make use of Dolphins' Grace by putting dolphins on leads, which would be _very_ bad for real world dolphins. Honestly, it's kind of hard to put a conservation message in a game built around harnessing natural resources and bending the environment to your will.
@@notagoat281. It's a game. Treat them like mobs, not animals. Also, with the lead, the dolphin swims after you playfully and doesn't just get pulled. It's like a pet dog going for a walk.
I do agree that there's a lot of missed potential, and I also agree that they seem to pick animals to add based on educational value instead of entertainment (although Llama's don't seem to do either of those things and I have no idea why they added them), but I disagree that they shouldn't add real life animals. In fact, to me, the world still seems too empty and not atmospheric enough and adding real-life animals seems like a good way to fix that. But the problem is that they're adding the wrong animals. We need more common ones! Instead of polar bears and panda's, we need brown and black bears. And bees are alright, but we really need more birds - small ones that actually fly and tweet instead of hopping and making mob noises. Many different kinds, including land/water fowl like ducks and geese! Birds that actually fly and nest in the world would make it much more immersive.
I feel the exact same way about animals in MC Unless they give them cool twists, like mushrooms, it just feels forced, boring, takes away from the uniqueness of the Minecraft world And for the updates, Mojang is just being a damn pansy if they think the community would react to harshly to a bigger update _if they are capable of bigger updates, _*_we want them_* I don't want to wait 3 fucking years for a plant, mob, and block to be added to a biome that was probably completely forgotten about because of bigger updates 1.17 should just be a massive sweeping overworld (and possibly even end) biome update, though that seems unlikely with what they have said about the mountain update so far
yeah, I disliked the addition of rabbits, polar bears, cats (in villages) and even pandas which are kinda unique are actually pretty boring and useless. I think every passive mob should have at least 1 *concrete* unique drop or feature (cows-leather, sheep-wool, horse-ride, wolf-companion) and some new ones include dolphins (although they ain't that useful to me) etc. Only one I liked that wasn't as solid is the parrot because it's cool.(and dances). Mountain Goats? Ostriches? I want none of that. If I did I could have downloaded a mod like mo'creatures or somethin'
They need unique mechanics or drops that actually do something Sheeps give wool wich is really useful, wolves serve as combat allies, cows provide milk wich cures status effects and leather wich is useful for a variety of things, horses work as vehicles on the other hand we have polar bears who drop nothing nor help you in any way, foxes who steal stuff and nothing else, turtles who can allow you to skip the water breathing enchantment entirely actively hurting other content and rabbits who are pretty much land bats with drops so pitiful that makes poisonous potatoes look good To Faceless, the parrot alerts of what mobs are nearby, it has helped me get ender pearls in the early game a lot
I agree, Polar Bears and Pandas are useless. Real world animals are kinda uncreative and obviously put in the game just to be cute and attract new players. I'd rather have more fantasy animals from now on
@Snoi Med Or have the llamas protect your livestock like they do in real life. You live in a Taiga and haven't tamed the local wolves? Don't worry, your sheep will be fine with the llamas to scare off the pack! Something like that would be awesome.
@@mattstat716 Also, Valve can at least hide behind "We just run Steam and don't make games anymore". Mojang is literally a game dev studio and is the one directly responsible for Minecraft, they can't hide behind that excuse.
when mountains were announced, me and a friend were talking about how volcanos would be a brilliant addition they could even bring in red dragons for a end game flying mount and when we heard all 3 biome options we were less then thrilled, they didnt seem to be actually adding a decent choice just some basic choices, they need to give us one patch even if it takes a while to just flood us with new stuff, the sense of discovery even with the newer players is fading away, and they need to put something in to rekindle that spark.
Just get a mod or something plus overworld dragons seems fun but annoying when they attack your house it's just like the phantom on paper it's awesome but when you actually play it's just a pain
I just want Mojang to introduce sweet berries as a brewing ingredient: they heal some hunger and give you speed for a few seconds since they are sweet with sugar

That... Isn’t true tho. Polar bears in Minecraft are a neutral mob. They won’t attack you, unless you get close to them or their offspring or if you hit them. And if they hit you they ain’t gonna scratch, they are dangerous if you upset them. They did the same thing with goats, wolves and now with goats too. They won’t attack you unless you get too close or you hit them. It’s the same in real life. In real life, bears, wolves, llamas and goats aren’t the monsters portrayed in classic tales. Biomes currently stand as copied and pasted landscapes with different colored trees, grass, and water. Maybe a couple mobs and plants serving no real purpose apart from ambiance thrown in. Take the Oak and Birch, for instance, same textures, same plants, just different colored woods, and leaves. The Mobs like pandas, turtles, bats, foxes, squids, along with a few more, have been added to the game with no real purpose apart from ambiance and maybe a helmet. I wish biomes had actually different trees, new textures, unique mobs with purpose, and some new generation. Most miss when the game had stuff you didn't know, new things to expect, but we've come to realize that finding that feeling now is difficult cause large portions are the same. The seas of 1.13, and the villages of 1.14 are what I am talking about, new generation, features, textures/colors, mobs, new playstyles, etc. are all awesome! I still come by new things down below that I am interested in. Although the game may be infinite, what's the point when there is nothing to expect? (I love the game, by the way, I just wanted to give some criticism on the aspect I think it's lacking.)
Oak and birch give color to the world, and are from the Beta. Squid is from one of the earliest Beta snapshots And was the only way to get black dye for a long time. Foxes are useful for farming red berries. Spruce, Oak and Birch provide these different trees and textures that you want. It sounds like you both want more ambience and are piffed about the things that do bring ambience aren't unique enough.
I think content is the wrong word to use. I think fundamentally, Minecraft is the true sandbox game and what makes a sandbox game is its systemic features. Players make their own content, but it is built on top of the systems put in place in the game. The update aquatic was actually very much a systemic update. It added water logged blocks, introduced new ways to travel and interact in water (improved swimming, bubble columns, dolphins grace, conduits, turtle helmets, tridents) and when introducing the new biomes, gave the additions interesting mechanics (blue ice, coral). I don't think the update was perfect and some of the introductions were more on the content side than the systemic side (they could have done more with turtles and dolphins) but it was good overall. I think that some of the suggested biome updates are very heavily skewed to the content side. I do think that what they have done with Bees is quite good though, if they added this level of systemic changes they added with bees with every mob, I think it would be very interesting.
Yes! More systematic changes are what this game needs. New blocks are cool for building, but they don't change the game play. However, systematic features are far more difficult to achieve because Minecraft is based on multiple completely different aspects, all of which must interact in a balanced manner: Exploration, creativity (mainly building), survival and PvP. New content can easily help one style of playing while not touching the others (see the above example with new blocks), but systematic updates may benefit some players while harming others. However, I'm not saying that Mojang should go the easy route, since if done right, systematic updates are MUCH better. I'm just saying that it has some difficulty to it which e.g.modders don't have because players choose the mods they use freely.
Mojang has a bandaid. Instead of ripping the whole thing off and revealing tons of content, they slowly take off the bandaid to "not bombard you." Personally I love being bombarded with content if its fun. But saying that just means that you don't want to keep us waiting so you give us only like half of the full update and then the rest gets in the snapshots. And then we have to piece it together.
I’d hate it if too much was piled on but on the other hand you stop playing Minecraft for a while and when you come back it’s almost an entirely new experience
Greenpixel I was actually thinking about some shark alternatives, something that could give a shark vibe (not a water zombie), fit into Minecraft’s vibe, be more useful to players than aesthetics, and add some lore, like other features. I was thinking placoderms *(They’re armor-plated fish, which not only look cool, but could be used to make a slightly better armor tier than leather, also they’re extinct, so no harm abusing them in game because you can’t abuse an already extinct fish IRL, only problem is giving them lore that would make sense, I mean, how do these swimming guillotines exist with modern sea creatures that certainly did not evolve with them? Would an ancient race have somehow revived them because sharks died out and they needed a new top predator to balance the oceans?)* Lobe-finned fish *(most are extinct, though coelacanths are endangered, could be solved by adding original species of lobe-finned fish that are based on extinct species, could supply raw forms of themselves or fish they eat as a food source and scales as armor, maybe you could even tame some to deal with drowned, and they could spawn in swamps, which are currently devoid of fish, and their lore could be that some lungfish and coelacanths survived the apocalypse, and diversified to fill roles once held by sharks and other aquatic apex predators in the swamp.)* or chimeras *(AKA ghost sharks, which gives off a very shark and fantasy vibe, they might naturally attack drowned, on account of being scavengers or bottom feeders, and perhaps they survived an apocalypse and replaced sharks.)* What do you think of those ideas?
@@drsharkboy6568 How about extinct animals. I mean they are no longer alive and we are most likely not even close to cloning them, one reason or another and kids will not hurt them (one of the reasons mojang gave for not adding sharks).
Modded Cheese that’s why I listed placoderms, or something based off them. They’re long extinct, so no chance of hurting them. Just look up placoderm and you’ll see that they give off a fantasy vibe that might fit well with Minecraft. I mean, imagine fighting a large, armored sea monster with a terrifying beak that could cut through armor like butter. Perhaps they’d also take a similar role to large sharks in our oceans, hunting other large sea creatures. Perhaps a reward for killing such a beast could be unique aesthetic armor almost as durable as diamond (key word, almost) depending on the variant you kill, that gives you a dolphin’s grace-like speed boost or other perks, also depending on variant. Perhaps there could be a lot of variants based on size (small, [
If I were to take a guess I think the main problem is how ''professional'' Mojang is trying to be. Minecraft's iconic mob was added because of a mistake and the game dev going: You know what ? Sure why not. Mojang needs to be way more ambitious than they are right now, they need to surprise us and astound us. If the majority doesn't like a big change they make, then they have no obligations to keep it in the game. Scrapping content is normal. But ever since the phantom's release I get the feeling Mojang feels like they CANNOT remove a feature they've added into the game no matter how many people dislikes it and explains how its a bad thing for the game. But that shouldn't be the case??? Mojang should be more ambitious and get out of their comfort zone, all while keeping in mind that features disliked by alot of people can be removed with no consequences.
Yeah phantoms are annoying but I think they are an excellent addition to minecraft. They are not another real world animal, and add to gameplay by adding a flying hostile mob to fight and making sleeping and smite more important. They have a unique drop that actually has uses and have different spawn mechanics to other mobs. But yes I very much agree they need to be ambitious and surprise us with new things, preferably not animals that do nothing.
I'm glad that the nether update seems to be addressing these concerns; varied, interesting biomes with distinctive looks and blocks, plus imaginative mobs like the Strider and Piglin who have a useful purpose in game.
if only they would overhaul the other everything, comparing the fleshed out and interesting, brutaly agressive nether landscape to the samey, boring endless plains makes the new stuff seem modded in comparisson
@@crimsonis936 I mean.. is it even a competition? piglins are just the most flexed out mob in the game.. ever.. I wish mojang did that more often instead of making preety cardboard cutouts of real life animals
they already have scared some players with many features just because some havent played since like beta or 1.8, so i dont see a problem with "scaring" people with new features more. other games add loads of things in updates and ya just sorta figure it out.
7:49 anybody who says they WOULDNT want that is dead to me. That reminds me so much of the days in 1.7.3 and i would kill for that kind of generation in modern minecraft again
It'd be kinda ugly as a general/common terrain tho. I would absolutely LOVE rare biomes that look all magical and gravity-defying, but if weird warpy terrain is found literally everywhere, it ceases to be magical or even look good.
I’d rather have more realistic generation. Weird generation is cool in smallish doses (some of it can stay, that’s some of the magic) but too much really takes me out of the game and looks too jarring and stupid
I love this style of critically analyzing the game design of Minecraft, and I don't see many other UA-camr's making these sorts of videos. I would love if you made more video's like this!
3:05 see i kind of dont like *how* these newer animals are implemented. They feel less and less like minecraft each mob they add in my opinion. Mostly pandas. Pandas are doing flips and have random personalities and a bunch of stuff like that. It does nothing for the game and just makes the pandas feel out of place. The fox is okay but the jumping thing and the holding items is just a bit much. idk, i like my mobs to be simplistic but contribute something to gameplay.
They don't do anything or contribute meaningfully to the gameplay aside from the player thinking "oh cute it's a _____" and then never interacting with it again
@@Alzter0 yeah, and even things that come with them that would contribute to gameplay sometimes don't. Like pandas came with bamboo that turns into scaffolding. Scaffolding would be really cool but bamboo is so rare the block may as well not exist. But with other mobs the blocks are a bit more common.
I’m actually in strong disagreement with you there, I think the new animals’ personalities are some of their only redeeming qualities. Does it really _add_ anything, gameplay-wise for Pandas to sneeze and roll around? Not really, no. But what it definitely _does_ do is add character and personality to the game, and generally just makes the world feel a bit more alive. Yeah, I wasn’t really dying for any of these animals to begin with, and I wish they had more gameplay functionality, but I’m glad that they all have their own uniqueness and aren’t just blank slates. I don’t see how that makes it feel “less like Minecraft” at all.
With ocelots, I'm really wondering why they're even still in the game. You can't really do anything meaningful with them. Same goes for other animals as well. I'm just not sure about this whole "educational approach" they're using. Adding animals that don't really add anything beyond a questionable level of flavour is quite pointless. Worst offenders in that regard are likely bats. Why the push for standard Minecraft as an educational game when they literally have a whole education edition to dedicate that to?
Bats were added long before the "educational approach" started... and their purpose was an attempt to make caves easier to locate, since bats would spawn in them and make noises to help you locate them (keyword, attempt... they aren't that useful since caves aren't that hard to find).
All in all, Microsoft needs to have this game updated more if they want it too succeed in the future because so far its been way too slow to keep the hype up.
Yeah, no ones going to be excited about a mountain update in fall 2020, alongside what will likely be a much more major update, maybe even the cave update
Im soory, but I just hate it when people refer to Microsoft as the developers of minecrafy. Microsoft may hold the business stand point, but it certainly does not develop the game. Mojang does. Once again i am so sorry for getting triggerred.
Finally after years and years were getting some content in mountains 1.a mob that as far as we know is just a sheep reskin 2.there making the mountains have better layouts and not actual content 3. And “sNoWYeR SnOw”
@North Atlantic Treaty Organization I love Minecraft as much as everyone else but FFS, stop defending Microsoft. Updates take way too long. The only reason they're neglecting the game is because updates aren't profitable. Imagine if the community came together and boycotted all the new Minecraft themed games no one asked for until they redirect their focus on the main game. We could be getting massive updates every month.
Mojang : doesn't add sharks because they're endangered and could be abused and influence the opinions of them on children Also Mojang : adds polar bears, dolphins, parrots and pandas
I think Mojang has a very common problem, their team only has game developers and graphic designers, but no actual game designer. They theoretically have the ability to get the job done, but they are struggling to figure out what to actually do.
Community: "Caves need updates! Biomes need updates! Animals need updates, and we need new mobs!" Mojang: "Nether Update" Community: "Uhh... dang I didn't realize how much we needed that."

Find a zombie spawner while mining and your set
Your content is so amazingly simple but also informational. All the visuals are helpful and you do a great job of breaking down everything really simply.
There's another big factor, they want to fit these features to a specific update. Campfires were used as decoration of the villages in 1.14, mountains and goats are tied to 1.17, etc. It's fine that they want to do this, waiting for each feature's turn... but should players really be the ones to affect that? Should we really wait for a "Swamps & Sand Update" to have our frogs and meerkats? The devs are trying to keep everyone pleased, but it comes off as ignoring us because the features we voted for aren't coming right now. It's a complicated situation
I dunno why they did a vote when they could just add _all_ of them. It wouldn't be _that_ hard... and I'm not like most people, I understand that game development is _actually_ hard. I STILL think it would be easy to just add them all, because there aren't that many features.
I personally think that being so open with the community and giving them some sort of control over future updates is great, but the wait in-between these big updates feels a bit weird compared to the complete surprise updates that don't take another year to be actually released. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have them take their time and focus on making the updates good and not "rushed", but over the last couple of years Minecraft has started to feel more and more "empty". There's still plenty to do in Minecraft, for new and old players, but I feel like they shouldn't tease the community with new content that is supposed to be released so far down the line.
I see the Nether as one of the largest, oldest and most untouched biomes in the game. 1.16 will do to the nether what 1.13 did to oceans and we'll ask ourselves how we were all ok with the endless expanse of lava with the occasional fortress interspersed to break the monotony. We'll be getting new structures, new biomes, new mobs, new blocks, new mechanics and new items which will make the nether much more than it's original purpose of 'the fast travel place.' These new updates are all proving that Mojang wants to drastically update and upgrade the game to match its new popularity.
Mojang: “Let’s add animals just because they’re going extinct to create a healthy awareness.” Me: “This animal is useless, it shall perish by my blade.”
agreeeeeeeed I don't want Minecraft to be a storyline game or an RPG of some kind, but currently it lacks goals other than just killin the Ender dragon once
Eh, for now, I disagree. Ambiance is lacking right now, we have plenty of content for progression. I'd like a few more realistic mobs and ambiance in biomes that lack it before we get new stuff that feels like it was modded.
Ocelots should be a new type of cat that actually fights for you like the wolf, however deals less damage. It would add a new cat and a point to the ocelot
@@schoolshootersteve6997 people raged last time they updated combat, and a lot of servers still just decided to now update past the combat update to this day. They'd only do it if the spells were non-combat related.
6:28 I disagree. Looting ship wrecks is a big part of the early game experience in a survival world and it is very common to fill up your inventory while doing that and having to go back to your base to empty it. Storage boats would fix that problem.
@@astroknight5 That's fine when mining or adventuring, but when hunting ship wrecks your inventory fills up extremely fast and you have to go back to empty it constantly, which is very tedious.

The biome vote is just a reason for people to watch the stream, because most people aren't interested in 'big UA-camrs digging through slime'
@Calin Game Being cautious is lazy? Bruh, if they add every single thing everyone wants, would the game be even playable. They are being smart. Not lazy. They actually think how every update will tie in with the game and how it will affect the game code. Which had been up for years. It took them til last year to even expand the things that they can add to the game, til the last few month to even have 3d biomes.
no, I actually would like storage boats. Not the most useful thing but a nice and still useful addition. They should along with that make so that horses(and other animals) can not be dragged behind you on water. Then boat w/ chest would be useful before you get shulker boxes
boats are the closest thing you'll get to a honda civic in the game. just build a water / ice highway. the chest would be like a storage boot, idk. except wait you could just convince a llama to sit in the back for the rest of eternity and that would do the same thing nvm

This video is still super relevant. Because since it's come out over 2 years ago, we've literally only gotten 1 of the 4 losers updated. And they didn't even update swamps aside from adding frogs. They added a new biome, without fixing the fact that the original swamp still uses modified oak trees. And they couldn't even fully update swamps because they scrapped fireflies

You're not missing much. They're cute, yeah, but none of their behaviors are particularly useful. You can... build a berry farm? Except berries aren't very useful. Technically you can use the fox to make a better chicken farm, but it's finicky and prone to loosing the sword, feeding all the chicken to the fox. As is, they haven't changed much.

Polar Bears: Pointless. Llamas: Mountains actually needed these and they're sorta useful. Parrots: Pirate Roleplay and dance dance revolution purposes. Dolphins: Sealife that isn't a fish and they lead you to sunken ships. Turtles: Adorable and Turtle Shell helmets are hella useful cause Aquatic Update. Fish: I mean... this just makes sense to put in the game. Cats: I actually do not like this, these things are why I can't tame an Ocelot anymore. Pandas: New source of slimeballs and adorable. Foxes: I mean they're cute but they are also just fluff. Bees: The honey block will be really interesting and also puns so this works.
I kinda just wanna be able to tame a wild ocelot as it is, and get a domesticated ocelot as a pet. Maybe only be able to tame it with some kinda rare fish catch or something.
Well, you could say you ate your words! The swamps now feature a genuinely fun mob, and mangrove biomes themselves are chock-full of new mangrove blocks, mud, mud bricks, and more. They even branch out into renewable clay, and chest boats help with dispersing items into hoppers evenly. And trying to play minecraft without those new mountains is impossible for a good majority of people. They're just too good- Let's hope that with the other biomes, and with future votes and updates, the biomes left to tackle become so good that I cant see myself playing without termites, palm trees, tumbleweeds and more.
This is a late reply but although I think this is a great update a lot of people were expecting more. They shouldn’t have called it the wild update if they were just updating the swamps. I know they added the deep dark and the warden but they should just have called it the swamp update. Since they added both the mangrove swamp and the deep dark biomes my prediction is that they will update two biomes per update so hopefully the updates will come soon. I also wonder if termites will eat your Mine craft house if so I don’t want them.
Oh, you mean the "wild" update, the one that promised a unique identity to every biome yet didn´t touch more than two, one of which had been delayed for 2 updates prior, the swamps are exactly the same since the day they were added but now with frogs which feel more like just a meme, the mangrove biome which is basically just like the roofed forest or the savanna: pick a sappling and leave, there´s not much more to it even though it was the perfect opportunity to add swamp villages or some new small strucure, but there´s just mud which you can make anywhere with dirt and a bottle of water, and chest boats which... if I can alrady put a donkey with a chest on a boat which doesn´t pop off my items when I take it to ground, why would I get a chest boat? and the thing about dispersing into hoppers is pretty much something for technical minecraft which accidentally just made the allays a little more useless since they´re only useful to move items but they only work consistently when riding a minecart just like the chest boat... And don´t get me started with the cut off features I just hope votes stop happening since they don´t add much to the game and the division they make on the community is not worth it, i rather letting them take their time with an update and not with pressure of due-date because "the community" (0.01%) voted for this or that
that's only really somewhat true, though. They do occasionally have big updates that overhaul large areas of the game (at this point, being the aquatic and caves & cliffs), but even still, the overworld biomes remain largely untouched and barren, despite the fact that we spend like 90% of our time in them. Mojang has shown that they're capable of having large scale changes and additions (even if they take forever like the caves and cliffs update), yet they refuse to do it for the biomes.
Aaand then somewhat LESS nice after the Wild update kinda fell flat with the swamp. Like, the old swamp is still there. And the only things we've gotten are a new dirt variant (and way to get clay, I suppose), a new tree, and a new mob who's only functionality is to get an incredibly annoying to acquire new light block that has zero advantages over other light blocks.
With Minecraft’s recent resurgence I feel like they really need a big update to keep players interested. P.s. even though it’s unlikely I really want buildable boat’s.
Ships and Airships would be a very nice feature because they would allow combining building and exploring to some extent. However, I think the major problem with them is how to realize them without creating excessive lag. Mods may be okay with small boats and speeds, but the main game can not support shitty performance and a ton of bugs/glitches.
Community: “Hey Mojang, can we get a cave update and End update? Both haven’t been majorly updated in a while and could use some new features because they’re getting boring” Mojang: “Here’s a real life animal and a situational item/block, see you next year!” Edit: Feel free to have a nerd-off in replies lmao
Fans: The game never gets updated and we dont like half the things you add Mojang: Ok, you guys choose the next thing we should update Fans: these biome updates are just filler to keep people happy Mojang: =/
>Mojang: Ok, you guys choose the next thing we should update If that was really the case, we'd actually be getting a Cave update instead of three random biomes that, mind you, Mojang picks out for us instead of the community.
@@justaguy2183 Although that is a decision made by Mojang, I do see your point in that the Nether getting an update would indeed be something highly requested.
Here's a good quirky use for the chest boat, if 1.15 doesn't fix it. You can put a boat into a minecart, and you get a manually powered minecart that goes at a respectable speed and can go uphill without powered rails. Imagine if that had a chest now.
The transformation of mountains was brilliant! It’s interesting to see these older videos worrying it would just be like amplified. It totally adds a new aspect to the terrain, just like oceans did
I personally voted for Mountains because of Cubfan's video highlighting the lack of features in the biome relative to the alternatives. I don't mind if most biomes are somewhat bland so long as there's a consistent level, and it doesn't feel like one biome is greatly ahead or behind. I currently feel that the Jungle is the most ahead in this regard.

The time given for the voting was completely ridiculous -
a grand total of 30 minutes for community interaction, limited to a specific time and requiring a twitter account. Not even 0.01% of the playerbase actually voted or was able to vote.
If they were serious about community input they'd have the polls open for at LEAST an entire week, with the option to vote directly from the launcher or from the minecraft website - you know, making it accessible to as many players as possible?

Mojang's update philosophy is just wrong. They don't want to shock the playerbase with too many features, but that's exactly what the game needs. When you ask players about their fondest memories in Minecraft, or the strongest ones, a lot of the responses are gonna be about starting out, not knowing the game, and being scared of the dark. Now that Minecraft has settled and most of the features haven't changed in ages (ahem, cave update), MInecraft is just too familiar, too unchallenging.
I love 1.14 and 1.13 especially (like you said, 1.12's oceans are basically unplayable now) but the game really does need more
i remember 1.8, "The Adventure Update" that had a FUCK ton of content. easily the best update to date.

Old updates: Nether! Pistons!

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but even if they wanted to bring back the old style of updates, they couldn't. In case you haven't noticed, we live in an age of leaks.
@@chippotato5647 Ya I understand that. It's just nice to reminisce
R3mix I can agree with you on that. I wasn’t around much for that era of the game, but I can see the appeal. I don’t think Mojang is ruining things nearly as much as most people say, though.
They literally surprised you with a nether update. I'm so confused.
Remember when we got Mesa, mega taiga, Roofed forest and savanna in the same update?
@@nickydarling5208 1.15 wasn't only for bees you dumbass, like others have already said, it was mainly an engine update.
Divine Engine 1.15 still runs like shit without mods tbh
love the fact that modders can basically create a new game in the time it takes the entire mojang programming team to add a new type of bush.
Right ! Me too ! I need foxes
That doesn't mean those mods are good though. Quantity isn't the same as quality.
Updates take ridiculously long for the amount of content in them
well if you compare it to what a team of that size with that experience could have dine; yes.
But I think the updates are coming out in good intervals with about the right amount of change so that you fully get the experience from each update but still often enough to make you have some interest in them.
Now I personally don't play the game that much so that might be why but hey, that's how it is and I like it
Yeah... Mojang is pretty slow on the updates.
Faceless they mean the amount of players who have installed the game, not the size of the file
My headcanon is that even now, 7 years later, the whole mojang team is just desperately trying to fix the deepseated coding issues with the java edition of the game, and every few months a siren goes off in the office and they spend a few hours coding a new update, send it out, then go back to fixing the game.
This is the most likely explanation. Notch coded it in just a few days and it's very spaghetti-fied.
Haha unless they stop working on it, cus, ya know, HYTALE

@@quentingilanian8045 yeah. It will probably be a nature update of some sorts.
They've blocked out all conversation about the next "big move" or update and don't plan on recognizing their mistakes (they can't directly address that the community is divided in the combat mechanics, and make it seem lighter than it needs to be)

@@portemanteau3802 Foxes are mostly useless though... because Sweet Berries are useless. At last someone said it. Most of real life mobs that have been added in recent time are useless
they are basically no different from the terrain. They're just there to look pretty and it pisses me off.
Yeah, the last useful mob added was the horse.

@@notagoat281 Honestly, a conservation message really doesn't fit in a game like Minecraft.

They need unique mechanics or drops that actually do something
Sheeps give wool wich is really useful, wolves serve as combat allies, cows provide milk wich cures status effects and leather wich is useful for a variety of things, horses work as vehicles
on the other hand we have polar bears who drop nothing nor help you in any way, foxes who steal stuff and nothing else, turtles who can allow you to skip the water breathing enchantment entirely actively hurting other content and rabbits who are pretty much land bats with drops so pitiful that makes poisonous potatoes look good
To Faceless, the parrot alerts of what mobs are nearby, it has helped me get ender pearls in the early game a lot
I agree, Polar Bears and Pandas are useless. Real world animals are kinda uncreative and obviously put in the game just to be cute and attract new players. I'd rather have more fantasy animals from now on

Polar bears in Minecraft are a neutral mob. They won’t attack you, unless you get close to them or their offspring or if you hit them. And if they hit you they ain’t gonna scratch, they are dangerous if you upset them.

Instead of ripping the whole thing off and revealing tons of content, they slowly take off the bandaid to "not bombard you."
Personally I love being bombarded with content if its fun. But saying that just means that you don't want to keep us waiting so you give us only like half of the full update and then the rest gets in the snapshots. And then we have to piece it together.

*There was no shark...*
Sharks would be abused a lot, probably. Mojang needs more unique mobs (but hey, with the nether update, they're doing a lot of that)
Greenpixel I was actually thinking about some shark alternatives, something that could give a shark vibe (not a water zombie), fit into Minecraft’s vibe, be more useful to players than aesthetics, and add some lore, like other features. I was thinking
placoderms *(They’re armor-plated fish, which not only look cool, but could be used to make a slightly better armor tier than leather, also they’re extinct, so no harm abusing them in game because you can’t abuse an already extinct fish IRL, only problem is giving them lore that would make sense, I mean, how do these swimming guillotines exist with modern sea creatures that certainly did not evolve with them? Would an ancient race have somehow revived them because sharks died out and they needed a new top predator to balance the oceans?)* Lobe-finned fish
*(most are extinct, though coelacanths are endangered, could be solved by adding original species of lobe-finned fish that are based on extinct species, could supply raw forms of themselves or fish they eat as a food source and scales as armor, maybe you could even tame some to deal with drowned, and they could spawn in swamps, which are currently devoid of fish, and their lore could be that some lungfish and coelacanths survived the apocalypse, and diversified to fill roles once held by sharks and other aquatic apex predators in the swamp.)*
or chimeras *(AKA ghost sharks, which gives off a very shark and fantasy vibe, they might naturally attack drowned, on account of being scavengers or bottom feeders, and perhaps they survived an apocalypse and replaced sharks.)*
What do you think of those ideas?
I think they are fine but do way to much damage and especially in swarms.

They obviously just added Pandas for marketing purposes. They're completely useless otherwise
@@thatoneguy609 I totally agree, most mobs are just there to be there and don't really add life to the game.

And most importantly: It will actually remain balanced within in the game.
I hope they get to the End at some point as well, it’s way too empty atm

I kinda just wanna be able to tame a wild ocelot as it is, and get a domesticated ocelot as a pet. Maybe only be able to tame it with some kinda rare fish catch or something.
Wdym adding fish doesn’t make sense? It used to be that the only way to get fish was fishing, and the fish would just materialize.

They're just too good-
Let's hope that with the other biomes, and with future votes and updates, the biomes left to tackle become so good that I cant see myself playing without termites, palm trees, tumbleweeds and more.
And don´t get me started with the cut off features
I just hope votes stop happening since they don´t add much to the game and the division they make on the community is not worth it, i rather letting them take their time with an update and not with pressure of due-date because "the community" (0.01%) voted for this or that
It's nice to revisit this video after seeing the major complaints within being addressed by the caves and cliffs update announcement.
that's only really somewhat true, though.
My list of updates I want
-Cave
-biomes
-bosses
-Ore/armor and tools
the last one is already done
@@zzzzz28 hardly
At least the last one came true
With Minecraft’s recent resurgence I feel like they really need a big update to keep players interested.
P.s. even though it’s unlikely I really want buildable boat’s.
put 5 wooden planks in an "U" shape in the crafting table
Faceless touché, I mean like building with blocks and then driving it. Similar to ark’s rafts
@@EC-nn1cx So, something like the Archimedes' Ships mod?
Dinoman972 yeah essentially
Ships and Airships would be a very nice feature because they would allow combining building and exploring to some extent. However, I think the major problem with them is how to realize them without creating excessive lag. Mods may be okay with small boats and speeds, but the main game can not support shitty performance and a ton of bugs/glitches.
Community: “Hey Mojang, can we get a cave update and End update? Both haven’t been majorly updated in a while and could use some new features because they’re getting boring”
Mojang: “Here’s a real life animal and a situational item/block, see you next year!”
Edit: Feel free to have a nerd-off in replies lmao
Nether update... :--:
What can I say, never expected them to do a 180

Fans: The game never gets updated and we dont like half the things you add
Mojang: Ok, you guys choose the next thing we should update
Fans: these biome updates are just filler to keep people happy
Mojang: =/
It's true though.

>Mojang: Ok, you guys choose the next thing we should update
If that was really the case, we'd actually be getting a Cave update instead of three random biomes that, mind you, Mojang picks out for us instead of the community.
@@foko3036 What about the nether update?
@@justaguy2183 Although that is a decision made by Mojang, I do see your point in that the Nether getting an update would indeed be something highly requested.
Here's a good quirky use for the chest boat, if 1.15 doesn't fix it.
You can put a boat into a minecart, and you get a manually powered minecart that goes at a respectable speed and can go uphill without powered rails.
Imagine if that had a chest now.
The transformation of mountains was brilliant! It’s interesting to see these older videos worrying it would just be like amplified. It totally adds a new aspect to the terrain, just like oceans did
I loved how the scenes from the game complemented what you said, Sarc. Sometimes subtly, sometimes not! Great video!
Be kinda amazing if they delayed all till 2023, and then released the biggest update ever, with all the biomes updated
Agree
I disagree, with Hytale coming out in 2021 It'll be a death sentence for Minecraft to stay the same for 3 years while it's shiny young competitor takes over
@@voidsenight9927 Minecraft doesn't die mate, never did, never will. Everyone comes back to minecraft. It's the nostalgia effect it has. No one forgets minecraft, and people eventually feel nostalgic and come back. No one will beat Minecraft, unless they make memories for a generation and define the sandbox genre. And honestly Hytale looks like an ugly Dark Souls mod for minecraft.
@@anonsdad2196 Listen, I do understand that Minecraft has a lot of nostalgia fuel to keep it alive, but just think back to the 1.8-1.9 update when they took a whole year and a half to update the game, that literally kickstarted Minecraft's decay to irrelevancy until Pewdiepie brought it back, and that was when Minecraft didn't have any competition, now think about what will happen if Minecraft did nothing for three years while a rival game with a much stronger engine and customization option launches in the meantime, it will kill Minecraft for good, sure people will come back to it every once in a while, but that won't really be good enough for Microsoft now would it?
It's okay if you don't like Hytale or think that it looks like an ugly dark souls mod for Minecraft, but you gotta understand how business works. nostalgia is fleeting, innovation is forever.
Mothman Kai Yeah i forgot about the Microsoft problem, with that plus the other stuff does prove your point
