- Minecraft is finally adding copper to the game! We know it's gonna have some cool new aging mechanics, but what else could copper do?

This is what we need. The idea itself needs some tweaking, sure, but it’s so much better than people saying we need copper armor just for the sake of having a new tier of armor. At this stage in the game, Mojang has no reason to add tiers of armor or tools without giving them special uses, like netherite where it doesn’t burn in lava. If you just add a new tier with nothing to differentiate it from the other tiers, there’s no point. We already have the established system, so you have to give extra tools and armor a use outside of that for people to actually want to use them
Can we just send Mojang this link on twitter?
@@futureknight372 we have to
I am going to use this comment on my college Theseus lmao
It's like if we added obsideon weapons; you could put obsideon shards into wooden swords for example, and get a sword with better damage, and a bleeding status effect for what you hit with it. Hell, maybe we could even have the ability to tip them with a temporary poison effect.
I had an idea that you could use copper with iron in the smithing table to make bronze armor
so basically he's thinking about splitting minecraft into 2 paths: magic and science

i always thought about such a concept. Take the 2 dust ores for example, lapis and redstone. 2 dust ores, yet completely different. 1 for magic, the other for science. Copper could expand on this

For the love of christ use anything but this same stale meme.
What he proposes is similar to Embers Relindled’s Ashen Armor, which, as you take damage, “charges up,” and that charge can be used to give it a permanent unique boost. The downside of the ashen armor is it’s low durability, relatively high cost and large upgrade cost.
Kinda like dark armor from the Ender IO mod, special arguments can be added to it so it is charged with energy, you can also add other augments like increased jump which use energy when used.

What about making copper a redstone enhancer? Like adding copper to redstone imbued craftable items (i.e. powered rails, pistons, dispensers, etc.) makes the items produce a greater affect. Adding copper to a powered rail could increase the speed, a piston can push and pull more blocks, and a dispenser can shoot items further and with more force. What if copper and redstone could be used together to craft something like a rechargeable battery? Add the battery to a boat and it moves faster; same with minecarts. Mojang: *Adds a neat decorative block with aging properties*
Sarc: *Creates a parallel tech tree*
Seriously though, this is a really cool idea. Maybe the copper blocks would carry less energy the more they aged, so a fresh block would keep 100% of the energy, a half-aged block would carry 50%, and a fully-aged block would carry barely any. This would create the need for maintenance over time in order to keep everything running.
Yeah, tho Lady Agnes said in a tweet that there is a way to keep the blocks in a certain state
@@joakimpw9671 Fair point. Going on a bit of a tangent with that, I think it would be cool if they added oil reserves deep underground. Oil could be scooped up with a bucket and refined into various things. On top of acting as a coating for copper once it's properly refined, it could be used as fuel.
Actually that’s the other way around: the exterior oxidising keeps the inside more insulated, _increasing_ the power movability and decreasing power loss. That could reinforce the idea of an aged world and its evolution and improvements.
It would also keep new players for charging for 24 hours and killing the ender dragon in one hit.

@@InchonDM yea
Mojang should seriously add super charged armor that actually sounds extremely cool and it would give copper a really unique use
I have added copper to my Mega Mod list (which will most likely never come out, since I don’t know shit about coding). The main use would be the lightning rod. Any lightning within a 200 meter radius of a lightning rod will hit the closest one. Placing a brewing stand with empty bottles directly below the lightning rod will give you a new item: Lightning in a Bottle. You can throw the bottle as a splash potion and it harms like an instant harming potion, but it has a chance of paralysis, an effect that stops you from interacting, walking, camera movement and jumping. Throwing a LIAB in water will electrocute the water blocks around it and kill all the low-health fish that get electrocuted. Lightning also does this, but on a larger area.

@@arcanetech2244 You... you throw the line... into the water... and wait for the bloop. And also, I think Terraria mining is MUCH better than Minecraft. There are so many unique caves and structures to discover, underground biomes, as well as events that can completely randomize your experience.
I’m not saying Minecraft is a bad game, god only knows how many hours I’ve put into it. While they’ve gotten better about t recently, I still think that Mojang should be willing to take more risks, add more content quicker.
@@AzureTheAvian there is so many fucking content in terraria, its amazing, i dont get it, why cant minecraft have at least half as much as terraria haves? cmon, and how isnt mining in minecraft also a chore? i dont get it, and also basically 60% of the whole map is underground, there is so much stuff to get and see and progress, terraria is a masterpiece, and yet we have mojang that cant add a boat with a chest at the same time as a goat, no, they need to make a vote on twitter to decide.

Honestly, it feels like they aren't even trying, hell even Space Engineers actually adds mod content to their game, and they honestly seem just as stubborn and greedy for money as Mojang/Microsoft
That’s the thing. Terraria is a boss rush so progression is more important. Minecraft is more loose in terms of progression, so implementing more ores for armor just doesn’t work as well
fully charged copper armour: *exists*

One of my ideas for copper would be to let it carry redstone charge through itself. Like you could use a repeater to push charge through any block, if you specifically used copper, you could let power every block. There would have to be a cap tho of like 6-12 blocks

Although the spyglass is pretty underwhelming considering its literally just an optifine feature but worse and it takes up an item slot in an inventory that seems smaller and smaller. I think they should try to add at least something new about it.
@@eldritchart716 I agree it's a bit too complicated and kinda overruns that classic vanilla feeling. Pretty cool idea though

Find someone to make this into a mod, PLEASE
Here are my takes on how the copper charging system should work (get ready, it's long):
Copper Block: crafted with nine copper ingots, used to carry charge
Battery Block: crafted with seven copper ingots in an "H" shape, one diamond in the top spot and one iron ingot in the bottom slot, directionally placeable (iron/cathode side always faces the block it was placed on, diamond/anode side faces away), can charge copper blocks that have an unbroken connection to it within four chunks, powered by work done on the line and powers anything on the line
Magnet Block: crafted with five copper ingots (bottom row, left and right squares, like a letter U) and four iron ingots (top row and middle square, like a letter T), directionally placeable (iron side always faces out), a netherite block placed between the iron sides of two magnet blocks produces a field that charges all Batteries in a 16-block radius to varying degrees (closer to magnet = higher charge)
Copper Armor: crafted like regular armor with copper ingots, can be charged by standing on a battery-charged copper block for charge, charge has three tiers that each come at a cost
Boots: 105 durability. Tier one increases speed by 10%, tier two by 20% while reducing soul sand slowness by 50%, tier three speeds by 35%, negates soul sand slowness, and allows extra-long jumps as a special action
Leggings: 129 durability. Tier one adds 10% protection, tier two adds 25% protection and reduces hunger lost by 10%, tier three adds 40% protection, reduces hunger lost by 20%, and as a special action causes you to be pulled slightly towards metal ores within two blocks of you (strongest with netherite)
Chestplate: 156 durability. Tier one adds 10% protection and gives attackers a half-heart shock upon hitting you, while defending you from the same shock. Tier two adds 20% protection and makes the shock 1 heart, tier three adds 30% protection, a two-heart shock, and as a special action adds a regeneration boost. Each tier adds a 10% mining speed increase.
Helmet: 105 durability. Tier one allows a mobile light source (like a headlight), tier two adds extra defense against falling anvils or dripstone (like a hardhat), tier three reduces suffocation damage by 25% (special action).
Each additional tier of charge wears off after 5 real-life minutes, or every time the user sleeps in a bed. Once a tier 3 item wears off, it becomes a tier 2 item and the count begins again. The special action takes 15 seconds off the timer. Water is a hazard to charged copper armor, each piece of tier one armor adds a half-heart of damage per second in water and removes all charge, tier two adds 1.5 hearts, and each tier three piece adds 2.5 hearts of damage, meaning a full-health tier 3 player dies instantly on contact with water. Contact with water deals 5 durability points per second per tier of charge. Charge is not maintained after death.
Imagine being a zombie, you see the player staring at you, follow him to his house, he closes the door in front of you and to track him down you start breaking it, after a while the door collapses, it appears that the player took a staircase in the inner levels of the house, underground.
You walk down the staircase, go in a dark corridor, not being able to find the player, but before you decide to leave, you hear:
*”Energy at 400% capacity.”*
*”How about that?”*

To be fair: gold and silver are better conductors. But they are far more expensive

Gold is a worse conductor than copper.

This is a honest to god great concept. Wish it was actually in the game
The bass music in this video fits so well! Really good man!
A few tweaks and ideas:
When a lighting strike hits already charged copper crmor it will overcharge and explode. (Lightning is more likely to strike nearby)
Copper armor rusts overtime.
Netherite blocks should not have gravity since they're the only explosion immune block that can be moved by pistons, wich will sadden redstone engineers.
Netherite blocks could be used to slowly convert redstone energy into copper energy.
Or Netherite could only enter a falling state if placed next to copper.
If that is the case, the Dragon Egg should generate a moderate amound of energy overtime to give it an actual use as an endgame item.
Maybe the Netherite loops he talked about could fill that role
Wait why would the gravity interfere with being pushable by pistons?
@@dooplon5083 if the block is in air the block would fall by a piston
Example

@OddTomato I like your ideas
Acient debris is used for redstone not the actual netherite blocks.

instead of netherite being magnetic, why not have "cores" in end islands that "hold up" the endstone. that way you get the powerful magnetic properties far into the endgame and a cool mechanic where endstone isnt affected by gravity if its touching the end cores
edit: since having endstone be the affected block seems to cause to many problems, how about new block that either forms in "asteroids" found randomly in the end with the cores inside the asteroids or have "end dust" on the underside of the end islands (excluding the central island). that way theres no massive lag spikes from islands falling and previous builds wont fall apart.
Ooh, good idea! And then you could use those cores to hold up gravity affected blocks, such as make sand float
Isn't Netherite confirmed to be magnetic by the lodestones?
Well, it's been HEAVILY HEAVILY HEAVILY implied that the End is in space, and not on Earth.
@@Iliadic No, its heavily implied that the end is a different dimension than the overworld. Last time I checked my NASA satellite it didn't exactly look like the end sky. I see 0 issue with having cool magical end cores holding up floating islands above the void.
Then if you take the “cores” would the island just fall like sand into the void?
imagine some superpowered juggernaut in full copper destroying everyone, then someone decides to just hop in a pool of water and stops him in his tracks
yeah it would basically be unviable in PvP because all you have to do is place a water bucket and they gone

After all the years of modded Minecraft having Copper, it's great to see it finally become part of the vanilla game, even if it doesn't quite have the same uses, but your ideas there are pretty incredible indeed, and certainly could be made into a pretty awesome mod itself too!😮👍👏

I like the idea of the water conduction killing you with highly charged copper armor, but I think it could be made more of a strategic play for gutsy players by also killing any other players in the water, since it would conduct through the water. This would give at least some sort of edge to the player if, say, they are holding a totem of undying. This goes pretty well with your concept of productivity since you get the incentive of an insta-kill skill if you have progressed enough to gain totems of undying in some way.
“Diamonds are just kind of useless” Yeah, I only use leather armor.
Yeah I was kinda confused with that bit. I mean yeah fundamentally, it kinda is because Netherite, but you need diamonds to get Netherite and whats going to protect you when you dont have all 1 billion pieces of ancient debris to make 1 bar? Diamond gear.
@@whydoitrystuff usless in a sense that it has little use. It's only real uses are to protect you and upgrade your tools. So pretty useless

Haha lol sama here dude
@@whydoitrystuff 4 ancient debris equals 1 netherite so you need 7 for leggings, boots, helmet, chestplate, sword, pickaxe, and axe so you need 56 dont worry tho cause in bedrock i see so many frigging numbers of ancient debri i advice you to use it on one on of your pickaxes then armor cause if you upgarde pickaxes it will mine much fatser and if you upgarde armor with it,it reduces knock back and adds more armor
