? What do you mean might own Tiny, Lanky, and Chunky? Tiny was in Mario Sluggers, Sm4sh (as Trophies), and Chunky was in the Mario movie. All the Kongs are owned by Nintendo, they're just choose not to use them.
That's what I was gonna post. There's a video called "The Kremlings are owned by Microsoft" that sheds more light that Nintendo rightfully owns those Kongs and Kremlings Rare made. They just choose not to use them for whatever reason.
I'm just glad this dream/idea is still alive! Thank you Super Joe Bros! We totally need a sequel, or at least a reboot w/ better graphics! Donkey Kong 65😂 that's funny! Maybe Donkey Kong 64 remastered? Or Donkey Kong Switch?!?
I actually have an idea to a brand new world. It might sound very weird, but I hope you still like the idea. I call it: GLACIAL GRAVEYARD. It's a mix of Crystal Caves & Creepy Castle with a touch of Icecrown Citadel from World of Warcraft. Imagine a fortress that has been frozen for hundreds of years. Maybe even thousands. During those years, a whole frozen town with a big fortress in the middle. Transformed into a big cemetery of snow & ice. The enemies would be like those ice kremlings that you mentioned in the video. Or to make it more creepy, add some real skeletons, zombies & ghosts. The perfect boss for this world could be a giant skeleton dragon covered in frost. (Inspiration of Sindragosa from World of Warcraft) The Kongs could defeat the dragon by Chunky smashing on it's back, or Tiny actually going inside the dragons body to destroy it's frozen heart. Maybe Diddy could use his jet pack to shoot the dragon's eyes or other weak spots.
@@kyleisreal_tv Heavily disagree. Returns and TF are phenomenal games and they were made by Retro. I would actually trust Retro to also make a new 3D DK game given what they have done with DK AND Metroid Prime.
@@kyleisreal_tv Donkey Kong is still Donkey Kong, with or without Rare. They haven’t made a Donkey Kong game in 25 years, I don’t think Rare would make a difference at this point. If I was Nintendo, I wouldn’t trust Rare with the Donkey Kong IP with a 15-foot barge pole. Hell, their most successful original IP hasn’t seen a new game in 16 years. Rare doesn’t care about any of their IPs except Sea of Thieves.
I'd love a DK64 "sequel" (i.e just another DK game in that style), but since that'd be a revival of the style, I think I'd save the K.Rool-Bowser team-up for an eventual next time. You gotta nail the style first, hook people on the "collectathon" concept again with a pure experience before the crossover event starts. (No need to go as hard on the collectathon-ism as DK64 did, mind you, a lot of people think it was too much.) Something I think would be neat is to "fix" the tag barrel concept by allowing the whole squad to run around at once, with the currently controlled character in front and the others following (if they can, because there'd obviously be character-specific areas too). Then you could just switch characters on the spot (if available) when you need/want to play as a different Kong.
K. Rool & DK teaming up to defeat Bowser would be a dream come true 🎉Awesome ideas for a sequel, love the level dangers. Here's to hoping a sequel turns out just as fun. Cheers from a fellow DK 64 fan ❤
I could see them teamign up but please not against Bowser. Make it some huge in-DK-universe entity that threatens them both equally. But please not Bowser (or Ganondorf, for that matter)
One thing I feel is off in DK64 is the fact that a lot of the characters are there to fill space. Tiny is basically a floating Diddy and Chunky is a stronger Donkey. Playing the game, I couldn't help but feel like a 2 or 3 character game would have made more sense design-wise. It sure does expand the world and the DK lore, but in the gameplay, it really just added more back and forth to the tag barrels instead of just being able to carry big rocks and smashing gates with donkey kong for example. Realistically, if Nintendo were to make a new Donkey Kong 64 game, the playable characters would probably be brought to two or three. Sure, the three new kongs have their own personalities, but I feel like their multiple gimmicks could be summed down to a button press while playing Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong (although Lanky is the most original one of the bunch and the less expandable one) Also, for a sequel, it would be a good idea for it to take place on Kremlin island as a parallel to the DK country's sequel
For me I would want something like Mario 3D world for a new 3D DK game with DK, Diddy, Dixie, and Chunky as the default characters with more Kong’s being unlocked as you progress through the game the plot would have K. Rool wanting to make a huge comback so he kidnaps most of the Kong family, with each world (Probably being being separate islands) having the idea of past gimmicks K. Rool experimenting with before abandoning them (like a Wild West world and a circus themed one). Honestly instead of Kiddy being the Kidnapped Kong, maybe have DK Jr.? I think that would give this old kidnapping plot a new thread and finally put that whole family issue with the modern Donkey Kong to rest.
I like this idea! I've been dying to have a new 3D Donkey Kong game. I like the idea of your "Donkey Kong: Kiddy-Napped". It would be interesting to possibly see Mario and Donkey Kong put aside their differences to work together as I actually like the idea of K. Rool and Bowser teaming up as the villains. Maybe be able to switch between Mario/Luigi and Kongs to solve puzzles, uncover secrets and pass platforming challenges? I agree that having too many playable characters can be detrimental to the game, but I would love to see the new 3D Donkey Kong game try something unique in a platformer. As much as I like Donkey Kong 64, it has quite a few design flaws that would be hard to ignore for a modern game.
I think if they did a followup that having bosses taking mulitple kongs to beat would be a nice twist, basically like a mini version of they K Rool fight. For example we could have the Dogadon fight start like normal and after Diddy's part is done. Chunky could then be tagged in either with a cutscene or a tag barrel with only him as an option to finish the boss. It would also be nice having bosses where you could choose whoever to start with that focuses on abilities all the kongs have to beat it.
No Mario Just Donkey kong Donkey kong 64 part 2 and part 3... The first 3d DK needs its own trilogy like Country. K.rool obviously gotta be the main Villain Other 5 kongs would be cool to explore! Donkey, Diddy, Dixie, Kiddy kong and Funky As banjo tooie was a bigger adventure far from home... DK64 PART 2 needs to be far from DK isle. The kremling territory, a foggy creepy isle with portals to transport the protagonist to different worlds. And a K.rool dressed like a Viking... Yes! The idea from tropical freeze but better, in 3D!
A DK64 sequel could of released on the Gamecube. I think the hub could take place on an island very similar to Crocodile Isle, maybe it is and it resurfaced. Kops could be surveilling the area to make sure no Kongs are on the island. Barrel blast and minecart courses could be integrated to the main levels instead of being in a separate area. The coconut boat races could also evolve to be part of the main levels with added wheels to also race on land both to simply get around faster and race certain NPCs for a golden banana. These new coconut car/boats could also potentially solve puzzles and would be placed in context sensitive loctions. Animal Buddies could be used a lot more, potentially more inspired by ones you'd ride in the canceled Donkey Kong Racing. More can return like Rattly and Squitter. Espresso could easily play similarly to a Flut Flut from Jak 1 for breif precise long scale platforming. My idea is similar to Jak and Daxter 1 where there's rarely any loading zones and vehicles are naturally part of the main levels.
I really appreciate the work that's gone into this, and I love the idea of the worlds. But I really don't want to see bowser in DK. Bowser has shown up in basically every Mario game for the past 30 years, and K rool has been missing entirely, just let him keep the spotlight.
I think the best thing they could do is give each Kong their own world to do. And have DK in New Donk be at the end and the boss fight is you throwing barrels off the construction tower only this time we are fighting to save someone we care about.
0:23 jeez we really took things for granted back then and were quite lucky. Literally a new game from the company every year. Now we’re lucky to get one every 10 years.
If they're ever making a DK64 sequel, they would first have to QoL the game loop massively. For starters the Kong's movesets would need to be unstiffened, and add some more versatility to them. I feel some moves should be removed (like Gorilla Grab since it's just a permission slip for levers) but I'm not against some of the moves you've proposed. Moves though should have both combat and puzzle solving properties. Maybe enemies could be beefed up so you actually have to focus on fighting them with a combo system and not just swat them away like the old game. Maybe there can be enemies who inadvertently "help" you with puzzles. And yes, any Kong should be able to get most or any items, you may absolutely favor one Kong over the other than them just being all character specific color coded. This could provide an opportunity for certain golden bananas to be obtainable by other Kongs, but you need to use differing tactics.
It’s such a shame that Rare got purchased by Microsoft back in the day. We would’ve gotten so many more DK games. It would’ve been insane. With that said, though. We can’t dwell on the past. It’s time to look ahead and be excited for newer games. I love your ideas, although I wouldn’t mind if they brought back one world from DK64, but changed enough that it still felt like a new experience. Maybe fungi forest could be brought back but look entirely different? Just an idea of course. Also, as far as the developer. Nintendo has several teams that could easily work on a new 3D Donkey Kong game. That would not be a difficult thing to do. Rare already layed down the foundation. Somebody else just needs to build upon that concept. Plus, we just need the DK crew to come back again in full force.
So donkey Kong 64 is so named because the n64 was named for having a 64bit cpu. My argument is it should be Donkey Kong Arm since that’s what architecture the switch uses! In that version of the game instead of being on an island in the shape of DK’s head, it will be a DK arm shaped island! (Just kidding about naming it DK arm, haha)
I have given this concept some thought myself the last few days, so seeing this video on it is kinda surreal. One thing that really should be discussed is the Kongs themselves - or more specifically their movesets. The basis for any good platformer is having character(s) that feel good to play as. So lets give some real thought to how the Kongs control and move. The 6 Kong lineup of Donkey, Diddy, Dixie, Tiny, Lanky and Chunky seems good - but it has a few problems. Chunky and Donkey Kong both fit the role of "the big guy", so one or the other will feel redundant - in DK64 Donkey Kong himself feels like he is being overshadowed in his natural role by Chunky. The same goes for Dixie and Tiny - they risk being identical characters, and what is then the point of having both. My idea for this was to specialize the Kongs more than in DK64. Make Diddy the speedy character that moves and attacks fast. Make Lanky focused on range, with his gun being the dedicated sniper, and his attacks having large hitboxes. The small characters will not hit as hard as the large ones, but have better jumps ect. In this framework Chunky can focus on raw strength while DK will be all about POWER. DK will be the brawler that hits hard with good attacks and decent mobility, whereas Chunky may hit hard, but has long endlag and slow movement, making him only really good for select bosses. This reflects that DK is a skilled and experienced fighter, while Chunky is timid and young. In the same way, we can use the fact that Tiny has grown taller in later games to our advantage. Now Tiny has a different build than her sister, Dixie can focus on being the nimble mobile small Kong. Tiny can instead focus on verticality - her Pony Tail Twirl now gives a big boost in height, but doesn't hover anymore. Even give her the better air attacks and a few moves that pop enemies into the air for some midair combat. With these changes the Kongs would each have a specialty that changes how you play with each one, and gives them a role on the team: Donkey - Brawler. Specializes in fighting and other high danger situations. If an area has lots of hazards, you send in the main Kong. Diddy - Speed. Moves fast (especially with a buffed Chimpy Charge) and has fast attacks. Used in most races. Dixie - Mobility. Floaty jumps and mid-air hover. She can get across gaps none of the others can even hope to reach. Tiny - Verticality. She jumps the highest and has an effective double jump. Her air attacks are also far better than others. Lanky - Reach. His attacks are long range and safe, he can hit switches and climb into places others can't. Chunky - Strength. Hits hard but slow. He can break through walls and lift very heavy objects, but is also notably slower than the others, and has a terrible jump.
All I want is tiny orignal design, I hate the teen one. And barrel and tracks part of the world and not only a mini game. That would give a new way of exploring
With how negatively criticized dk64 was received for abit im sure it scared Nintendo away from making another. That and they are notorious for putting game franchises on ice simply cause they dont know what to expand on or do with them. I feel like a sequel could be called Donkey Kongs Barrelpack barrage, and it really ramps up the tag barrel as it lets you carry it like a backpack, and you could use it to pull other characters out of when needed like tag anywhere. With modern tech they could let you use multiple kongs at once to help complete puzzles or combat. Not only would this free the need to backtrack all the time but it doubles as giving the kongs a newer design, even if it is dk with a backpack, its something on brand Nintendo would do. I dont think they would bring Krool back at all, they'd definitely use something made after the GameCube era. for the worlds, i think theyd make them relatively the same size as 64, but also maybe spread them out by having 2.5d styled segments to shake up gameplay segments. Theyd maybe bring back one 64 kong, but primarily would use the kongs they always reuse in the returns series.
My only hope with a new 3-D Donkey Kong game is either remove the bonus stages or add variety to them. Just reusing the bonus stages and adding more point criteria or other modifications doesn't really help matters. It felt lazy. DK64's mini games truly shine when they try something new. Even the scarab races as crazy hard as they are are at least a breath of fresh air rather then trying to coral Gnawties into a hole with iffy collision for like the 5th dang time.
@@superjoebros64 Yeah which is why my favorite DK64 mini games are the ones that try something new okay yeah most of the other minigames not confined to bonus barrels are gathering coins sometimes with the added component of racing an opponent to the end but the thing is they at least fit the themes and give you unique challenges and obstacles that fit with the world theme. I can't really say the same about the bonus stages. The best ones for me believe it or not are the ones that make use of the Kong's controls like the swimming one, the one where you swing across vines, beating up enemies in a maze, or sneaking around a maze to avoid being caught. Shame then that these are the bonus stages that are used THE LEAST.
Hmmm, interesting ideas. But I doubt they'd put Bowser in it. Here's a sequel idea by another user with his own world ideas: ua-cam.com/play/PL2BA3DC69FDE46AF9.html&si=bgB95T8x5-q-TsAY
OK, hear me out for a second. Rare had so much time within that timeline to make a sequel. Let’s take away conkers bad fur day from 2001 and will replace that game with the sequel for DK 64. I mean after all, it is an inappropriate game not for children. Then in 2002 they could have made a more appropriate conker game and starfox both in the same year! Rare has zero excuses of why they couldn’t make us a sequel! They have some apologizing to do!!
I would argue if Conker was canceled instead of reworked we would probably have a timeline where Nintendo and Rare maintained their good relationship and most likely would’ve lead to Nintendo buying rare
@ from what I can find, it was mostly Rare’s fault that Nintendo was weary since they weren’t working on GameCube hardware and recent financial failures, so it was most likely that Conker and Star Fox Adventures are the games that kind of soured their relationship, I do think outside of Conker, most of Rare’s franchises would probably remain the same in a Nintendo buys rare timeline outside of Banjo’s game in 2008 being a platformer instead of a car game.
Way. It’s titled imagining a Nintendo Land 2, I wonder what he could come up with for a third, maybe Fossil Fighters, Golden Sun, Earthbound, or even Fire Emblem. Don’t know what he’d bring back from the first 2 though.
IDK i don't i want a sequel to DK64 the tone of the newer DK games are totally differente. If a 3D DK games exist it better go for something completely different tone and gameplay, i mean it's hard to make a collect-a-ton in the modern age without being an homage to the past. What i do want is a fixed version of DK64 like being to collect any colour coded items with any kong and fix some of the jank and maybe tone down the louder voices of the kongs i have to lower the sound volume which does work. (Yes i know about the tag anywhere mod which is also a good fix).
These are awesome ideas. I would buy a console for this alone.. the music in your videos is so intricately placed lol. The music at 1:00 is from fungus forest i believe? Phenomenal job.. Also phenomenal newer metalcore band that I found years ago ua-cam.com/video/Pj1m7TuSGBs/v-deo.htmlsi=E4uxRvohltPTeDR9

Nintendo should seriously hire you to make the next Donkey Kong game.
I'll live stream the ideas and report back to them on what the people want 😂
If a sequel ever did come out I'd play it. DK64 was a big part of my childhood!!!
Same here, i didn’t even know how big the game was, maybe i had so much fun?
A new 3d Donkey kong game would be awesome, i can imagine a name title Donkey kong continent fruits.
Thanks for the shout-outs Joe! We can all hope to see a return to 3D DK. Your idea of the animal buddies is actually a level in Country 2.
for sure! I love that we're all kind of thinking the same thing. It's time!
(Inspiration of Sindragosa from World of Warcraft)
The Kongs could defeat the dragon by Chunky smashing on it's back, or Tiny actually going inside the dragons body to destroy it's frozen heart. Maybe Diddy could use his jet pack to shoot the dragon's eyes or other weak spots.
Also there are 65 banana fairies to find this time, hence the title
I don't wanna be a downer because DK64 is my favorite game from childhood but it would suck. Rare now is not the same Rare in 1999
I mean, I wouldn't expect Rare to be the ones making a potential sequel!
@ Donkey Kong isn’t Donkey Kong without rare. But anything is possible
If we get a DK64 sequel, I actually want them to keep the cartoony polygonal style.
(No need to go as hard on the collectathon-ism as DK64 did, mind you, a lot of people think it was too much.)
Something I think would be neat is to "fix" the tag barrel concept by allowing the whole squad to run around at once, with the currently controlled character in front and the others following (if they can, because there'd obviously be character-specific areas too).
Sure, the three new kongs have their own personalities, but I feel like their multiple gimmicks could be summed down to a button press while playing Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong (although Lanky is the most original one of the bunch and the less expandable one)
Also, for a sequel, it would be a good idea for it to take place on Kremlin island as a parallel to the DK country's sequel
Oooh interesting! Didn't even consider a Mario 3D world style game. That could be really fun!
@ I think instead of power ups it would be the kongs you chose that basically act as power ups sort of like how the classic DK games handled it
I like this idea!
Missed opportunity to have Snowmad remnants teaming up with the Kremlings in the ice world!
Rare does not own the rights to "the kongs" or anything else in the games. They never did
Idea: Instead of Funky have Swanky Kong be playable He's in need of a Comeback
honestly, true! I can get behind that
@@Geomaster97 swanky doesn’t seem like the type to adventure, but I can see him taking up a shopkeep role
@smashers6971 Even the most Money hungry will embark On a crazy Advebture to get paid
No Mario Just Donkey kong
Donkey kong 64 part 2 and part 3...
The first 3d DK needs its own trilogy like Country.
K.rool obviously gotta be the main Villain
Other 5 kongs would be cool to explore!
Donkey, Diddy, Dixie, Kiddy kong and Funky
As banjo tooie was a bigger adventure far from home...
DK64 PART 2 needs to be far from DK isle.
The kremling territory, a foggy creepy isle with portals to transport the protagonist to different worlds.
And a K.rool dressed like a Viking... Yes! The idea from tropical freeze but better, in 3D!
Having Bowser be involved sounds really interesting actually. I'd love to see that
A DK64 sequel could of released on the Gamecube.
Donkey December is rocking. Let's go last half
I really appreciate the work that's gone into this, and I love the idea of the worlds. But I really don't want to see bowser in DK. Bowser has shown up in basically every Mario game for the past 30 years, and K rool has been missing entirely, just let him keep the spotlight.
that's totally fair! Afterall, it's been awhile since we've seen Krool
Appreciate your dedication to these daily vids!
absolutely! When I said daily videos, I meant it haha
0:44 Does Rare own Tiny, Lanky, and Chunky? They were in Barrel Blast in 2007 (well, chunky wasn’t)
Rare don’t own any Donkey Kong characters.
Nope, all Nintendo!
Very good ideas to a sequel, I like it all
I love donkey Kong 64 I never got to play it though so I really hope they make a sequel or a remaster either way I’ll buy both of them
gotta make it happen! it's a blast
The final boss should be the Microsoft Logo
I think the best thing they could do is give each Kong their own world to do. And have DK in New Donk be at the end and the boss fight is you throwing barrels off the construction tower only this time we are fighting to save someone we care about.
AAAH that's such a cool idea! Really flip the table. Someone do this!
0:23 jeez we really took things for granted back then and were quite lucky. Literally a new game from the company every year. Now we’re lucky to get one every 10 years.
honestly though. we didn't know how good we had it!
Funky Kong could replace Chunky because, you know.
Surprise reappearance from Banjo and Kazooie
I love having a new dk64 video everyday
it's the best feeling right? 😂
They should give us 7 kongs in one game. Screw it. Go crazy.
I would love a sequel to my favorite childhood game 😔
With these changes the Kongs would each have a specialty that changes how you play with each one, and gives them a role on the team:
Donkey - Brawler.
Lanky as... Rubber?
LANKEY KONG GEAR 5 GOD MODE
No ideas for animal buddies like Squawks, Squitter, etc.?
It should be an open world like BOTW.
My only hope with a new 3-D Donkey Kong game is either remove the bonus stages or add variety to them. Just reusing the bonus stages and adding more point criteria or other modifications doesn't really help matters. It felt lazy. DK64's mini games truly shine when they try something new. Even the scarab races as crazy hard as they are are at least a breath of fresh air rather then trying to coral Gnawties into a hole with iffy collision for like the 5th dang time.
totally agreed, the variety is needed badly
@@superjoebros64
Yeah which is why my favorite DK64 mini games are the ones that try something new okay yeah most of the other minigames not confined to bonus barrels are gathering coins sometimes with the added component of racing an opponent to the end but the thing is they at least fit the themes and give you unique challenges and obstacles that fit with the world theme.
Hopefully this 2D platforming trend will finally go away and 3D platformers will finally be in
DK 128 ? 😂
I would play it 😂
@ what do you think about a new game with just DK and Diddy ? It’ll basically feel like jungle japes during the 1st run
Hmmm, interesting ideas. But I doubt they'd put Bowser in it.
Here's a sequel idea by another user with his own world ideas:

I like your youtube videos
I’d rather have a remake with updated graphics and fixed gameplay
I'll take anything these days 😂
@ I would much prefer Nintendo to buy rare than Microsoft to buying rare. We probably still would’ve had really good games coming out to be honest.
@ what is your take on CBFD being just an adult game?
@@christiangledhill4848 I think it’s a fine enough game, but I can’t deny the original 12 tales would’ve been more interesting.
Nintendo Hero made a similar video to this about Nintendo Land.
oh snap no way!
Yeah a sequel would be a far stretch, a remake is probably has more potential! a guy can dream though lol
