Xenoblade Chronicles X was probably the title that had the most time invested from me by a mile. I also grinded the hell out of ZombiU back in the day, hunting zombified survivors for loot.
I just got Nintendoland a few years ago, when I bought my WiiU it got bundled with new super Mario bros U (and new super Luigi bros) I probably spent the most time playing super Mario 3D world tho. I also played a lot of super Mario party 10
Some of my favorite Wii U games are Xenoblade X, Wind Waker HD, and Nintendoland. There are more but I'm just having a hard time remembering them all at the moment.
I still own a Wii U solely because of this game. So many memories with friends growing up, and it's still fun to bring it out at parties and during the holidays. This game introduced me to almost every Nintendo franchise outside of Mario and Zelda. It's almost as nostalgic as Mario Kart Wii
I think that’s why this game shines over Mario Party or other Nintendo party games when it comes to accessibility. It’s tremendously easy to explain to people who don’t usually play games and the fun factor is almost instant.
The Wii U was the last time i felt the joy of home gaming consoles.. consoles today lack soul. Even the Switch is blend and soulless compared to Nintendos past consoles. Here’s hoping Switch 2 brings back some of Nintendos creativity.
For the first few months, always thought the Switch menu was a “placeholder” for some future update that would have the same charm as the Wii U’s interface. That update never came 😂
My youngest nephew and I used to play the heck out of this. We actually made some good progress in the Zelda and Metroid attractions. Those were my favorites. Also, the DK attraction can go kick rocks.
I didn’t go into it in the video but Zelda was incredibly difficult. Metroid not as bad but if you still have your Wii U, try completing this some day :D
SAME i'd always be a pikmin while my mom played as olimar. i was also obsessed with the wooden glove(?) powerup that let you punch and shoot blue fireballs
this was a go-to game when my cousins came to visit (along with sports resort) since there were 4 of us! i remember playing s lot of mario chase and the metroid game, and hours taking turns with the DK game!
So easy to pick up for quick multiplayer! I kinda wish I had Wii motion pluses and more Wii remotes to get the most out of Metroid with my friends back in the day.
My fondest memories of Nintendo Land have to be 1. The time where my parents were the toads and I was Mario and for the majority of the match.... I ran in circles in the same place. At the end when it shows the map of everyones movements, me and my mum were laughing so hard at me in just one place. And 2. Theres a vid of this one on my old YT channel but basically.. At the time I had a kitten... Named Link... And in the Yoshi game, he was sitting in front of the TV, and mum couldn't see all the fruit and lost. Was hilarious. Unfortunately Link died last year 2 months away from his 11th birthday. But that video will always bring me joy.
Yo I still actively play this game, we have a small speedrun community on Nintendo land ^^ This game is truly a gem, and i'm happy so many people have great memories on it
There's pretty much no reason for them to have not made this a staple on every console aside from... Not wanting to, i guess. With their various series both dormant and active, the idea has pretty much endless potential. Kinda reminds me of the, i guess you could call em hub worlds, of the Namco Museum series in that regard.
Yeah I think for the switch the best comparison would be 1,2 Switch? Which people didn’t like so much. Something about Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, and Nintendo Land ooze this charm that was lacking during Switch launch
@TheMentok definitely agree. And them giving 1,2 switch a sequel to double down on that choice lol. Guess someone's playing it but a Nintendo Land or anything adjacent would've been universally preferred I'm sure
because that would require the switch to have actual charm and original gimmicks besides the joycons 😭😭 besides jokes though, nintendo land should've been a launch title for all future consoles and unfortunately they wanted to be innovative instead, as nintendo usually does, with 1 2 switch. unfortunately though i believe nintnedo's idea of innovation is more akin to sterilization these days. they could've easily done something for a launch series, especially when two of the most notable switch launch titles (mk8d and botw) were wii u games already.
Absolute tragedy that Nintendo never made a sequel for Switch. Idk if a port would have worked considering the chasing games where one person uses the gamepad screen... I think they might have worked if there was a second Switch in the room to use.
I want to say never say never but seeing how this game kinda came and went I have my doubts too. But we’ll see if they plan to have a similar game to showcase Switch 2
Gotta say this video really captured some of that "Nintendo magic" that things like the Wii U excelled at. I was in my late 20s when the console came out and while I was definitely more into what other companies were putting out still had a great time with Nintendo Land. My girlfriend had gotten the console, entirely because of Pikmin 3, and we had some good times with it. The fan service is pretty excellent and while not resonating as strongly with me as Smash does (I'm a sucker for the 80s/90s stuff, especially the obscure) Nintendo Land was a cool idea that I feel was a mixture of both ahead of and behind the times. If something similar to this hit on the original Wii during it's first year I have no doubt it would be considered an all time classic. As is it's a cool little footnote from the beginning of an era where Nintendo was struggling in the home console market.
My older brother is one of the seven people that owns a Wii U and him, my sister, and I would play Nintendo Land for HOURS when we were kids. I can remember he always played Mario and the Ghost and my sister and I would gang up on him. Heck, we still play Nintendo Land at least once a year. So many hours of my childhood were spent playing on the Wii U; Xenoblade Chronicles X, Mario Kart 8, Nintendo Land, etc. Truly this video made me smile ear to ear by reminding me of how much I adored this system as a kid.
Wii U is imo a quality over quantity console with it's game library. It may not have anywhere near as many games as the more popular Switch it definitely had a much better ratio of quality games. I also love the dual screen setup. When Wii U games get ported to the Switch I still see reasons to go back to the Wii U version because there is usually compromises that need to be made to fit the dual screen stuff on a single screen.
I actually made a video on how much I adore this game on my channel when I was talking about the legacy of the mii games. God I wish I could this was ported onto the switch 😢
Forgotten? No no no... Its only been what? 5 years? Heheh... Heh... _Except it HASN'T been 5 years... Nintendo Land came out in 2012._ Its been *12 years.* 💀
I honestly think Nintendo Land is something that should be revamp in a new deluxe treatment in Switch. Because it’s nostalgia and creativity to see if they would do more experiments like this one. Overall, great review! 👍🏻😁
As a kid, since the game came out, I'd play this game with 3 of my friends and my sister at my birthday every year. We'd always play, Mario chase, Luigi's ghost mansion and legend of Zelda: battle quest, with the occasional animal crossing: sweet day round. Good times.
It wasn’t intentional but now that you mention it, I unknowingly took cues from my guy Kevin from Defunctland. Not enough puns or tongue twisters in this video though, I gotta work on that 😂
I remember Mario chasers. Me and my brother used to play it with our childhood friends, we’ve lost touch with them and my brother doesn’t come around much, last we heard the friends duo was- somewhere, one was and might still be growing and smoking pot in his own room to this day, it was a lot of fun, even if we did rough eachother up a bit because of it. Good memories
I still have my Wii U 10+ years after it’s release. Nintendo Land and Wii Party U have always been our go to games for family night. Once my dad won a round of Mario Chase by hiding in the mud for the entire game and we still check his usual hiding places when playing it to this day.
i loved nintendo land and the wii u. i hate all the hate it got i absolutely have fond memories on mine. nintendo land was a great party game when my cousins would come over.
Wait… i just realized i should play skyward sword from watching this video. Motion controlled sword. It’s like wii sports swordplay, but a full game, which is exactly what i’ve wanted. Thank you.
Forgotten by many… Remembered by few… This game, alongside Mario Kart 8 (Not Deluxe), Wii Sports, and Wii Party U. Was part of my childhood… I still remember when I used to hate those twister enemies in the Metroid game…
You forgot to kill the fake Monita at the end of the ninja castle one! The hard mode on there is insane, and probably the coolest secret in the whole game
" ONE TWO THREE. ONE TWO THREE. ONE TWO THREE- RAAGGHHHHHHH!!! I'M GOING BACK TO PLAYING ANOTHER GAME. " Thanks Nintendo Land For existing you were awesome
Nintendo Land helped me a lot through college, actually. That's where I also learned that Animal Crossing: Sweet Day technically works with 6 players if you have one person on each side of the GamePad. 😉
I LOVE THIS GAME BRO This video was amazing to watch, because I had so much nostalgia in Nintendo Land I accidentally broke my original Gamepad Years ago when raging, so I have an entirely new Wii U sitting in my room, so I can play Nintendo Land whenever I want again
This was me and my silblings childhood, can proudly say we had over 500 plays on Metroid blast. Criminally underrated, 100% one of the best multiplayer games of all time. (If you fight kraid with a gunship, you can attach to the ship and drop into kraids mouth)
It's not just Nintendo Land that died with the Wii U, other Wii U games such as Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Star Fox Zero, Yoshi's Woolly World etc. did not receive Nintendo Switch ports and have died as well.
I fucking loved Nintendo Land. Only sad part is I could only do the single player games. I feel like if they wouldn't have forced half the games to be locked behind multiplayer, Nintendo Land would've been a smashing success.
The Wii U was a fantastic console with a TON of untapped potential in its form factor. Most people I've played with were surprised by how fun it was, despite assuming it was going to be a crappy experience due to its very negative reputation. What I've noticed is that most people(in my own experience, at least. Obviously I dont know everybody who bought one lol) who actually owned one genuinely loved it. Sure, there were some dry periods, but when it got something good, it would be REALLY good. But due to it's poor sales, we never got the steady stream of quality games we should've. It didnt take long for Nintendo to treat it as primarily an obligation while focusing much more on the 3DS. And for 3rd parties to, at best, provide lazy ports. We certainly never got many unique 3rd party titles built to take advantage of the unique hardware. We would have had it the install base made it worth it. The Wii U is a tragic case of "what if". I would seriously kill to have the Switch successor use the dock as a way to send a secondary display signal to a TV when the console isnt using it. Like how the Wii U did with an ad-hoc wifi system between the console and gamepad. But this time, reverse it and send the signal from the Switch 2 to the dock. Easy peasy. There if devs want to experiment, invisible and out of the way if they dont.
omg dont say forgotten 😭 anyone who knows what a wii u is knows this game, for what it is its so iconic,, when the topic of the wii u is brought up, so is this game!!
I hope asymmetric gameplay returns on Switch 2. I'd love to see the ability to play on two screens again, and for the console to connect wirelessly to the dock allowing you to view different things on the console and the TV. They could bring back not only games like Nintendo Land or Starfox Zero but many DS and 3DS games as well.
Some people got in trouble for emulating Wii U games and the Successor of the Nintendo Switch is rumored to have 2 screens on it because of some patents floating around. Maybe they can bring Nintendo Land back with it somehow?
Nintendo land was such a magical game growing up. I have so many fond memories of the game and it's sad to see it become forgotten. A sequel to Nintendo Land would be amazing and I don't understand why Nintendo just gave up on the concept.
Wtf, I had no idea there was a second DK board, it took me forever just to beat the first one. My brothers and I played so much of the Metroid game, best attraction in the park.
With all the Wii U games getting second life on the Switch, one game I find myself enjoying much more on its original platform is Super Mario Maker. The stylus controls make for a much cleaner interface, so I find it much more fun to create levels in that one, overall.
Nah, Nintendo Land went SO HARD- Pikmin, Luigi’s Mansion, and Metroid ones were easily my favorite, god damn did those minigames go so hard Also, can I just say that seeing one of my favorite games I played as a little kid be referred to as a “forgotten game” is surreal- I also loved the donkey kong game-l, even if I raged at it
I loved playing this game, maybe that was because it was one of 5 games I owned for the Wii U ever, but eh. Unfortunately my cousins also liked playing it, and they completely lost the disc (including another one of my games) so I’ve never been able to play it again :/
this is amazing. my fam n i would play this during big parties or js to hang out. never even played the single player games lol. the pikman one is the only game my mom ever played w us that she liked. nintendo land was amazing and the wii u let us play wii game on it too. love the playthrough to know theres an ending😫🎉
Why is this game getting attention again? I remember being the sole person who liked it. Oh, yeah, cdot made a video on it and now everyone loves it. Makes sense.
To the seven Wii U owners --- share your favorite Wii U game here!
I literally repaired my Wii U this summer just to play Nintendo Land. Had to replace the motherboard!
I love Yoshi’s Woolly World. It’s kind of sad the switch got crafted world instead of a port of woolly world. It’s such a great game.
Some of my favorite Wii U games are Xenoblade X, Wind Waker HD, and Nintendoland. There are more but I'm just having a hard time remembering them all at the moment.

Same
As someone who misses this game so much after a decade, it's nice to see this.
Imagine when I did the math and realized it’s been 12 years. 🥲
The Wii U was the last time i felt the joy of home gaming consoles.. consoles today lack soul. Even the Switch is blend and soulless compared to Nintendos past consoles.
Here’s hoping Switch 2 brings back some of Nintendos creativity.

I love how you framed this vídeo like a visit on an actual theme park where you enter early in the morning until its closing time at night
My youngest nephew and I used to play the heck out of this. We actually made some good progress in the Zelda and Metroid attractions. Those were my favorites. Also, the DK attraction can go kick rocks.
It's frustrating, but I still enjoyed it.
I didn’t go into it in the video but Zelda was incredibly difficult. Metroid not as bad but if you still have your Wii U, try completing this some day :D
Can't believe the UA-cam algorithm kept this hidden from me for 15 whole seconds
Clearly I’m shadowbanned 😂
Mario chase is one of the few wii games I could convince both my sister and mum to play.
23:48 - Nice nod to the twist ending for Takamaru's Ninja Castle. 😉
But you can attack monika during the "epilouge" to unlock a more challenging mode
That soundtrack! Especially the baloon flight and Octopus tracks!
This is truly the hardest Wii U game to master.
the stamps are concerningly cruel.
Pikmin Adventure is PEAK! Being able to play _as a Pikmin_ was mind blowing as a kid.
SAME i'd always be a pikmin while my mom played as olimar. i was also obsessed with the wooden glove(?) powerup that let you punch and shoot blue fireballs
Peakmin?

Wasn’t ready for the nostalgia bomb with the WiiLikeToPlay clip
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS GAME AS A CHILD AND IT NEEDS TO BE PORTED TO THE SWITCH
Great video! The Donkey Kong Crash Course part made me LoL 😆
Awesome video, I love Nintendo Land so much, super nostalgic playing all the games with friends.

The WiiU Never Quite died, and never will as long as I keep playing.
Sweet Day and Luigi’s Ghost Mansion were go to’s every time my friends and I hung out when the Wii U was new
Forgotten? No no no... Its only been what? 5 years? Heheh... Heh... _Except it HASN'T been 5 years... Nintendo Land came out in 2012._ Its been *12 years.* 💀

The people who were in charge of making the Wii U feels like it was entirely done by a brain damage chimpanzee!
This was one of my favorite games to play with friends when I was a kid

Who put Defunctland into my Mentok? Two great tastes that taste great together.
It wasn’t intentional but now that you mention it, I unknowingly took cues from my guy Kevin from Defunctland. Not enough puns or tongue twisters in this video though, I gotta work on that 😂
@@TheMentok don't feel like you have to commit perjury on our account, we like you just the way you are.
What a blast from the past! Metroid Blast was my favorite
I MISS THE GAME SO MUCH DUDE
I remember playing DK's Crash Course with my grandma once. It's still one of my fondest memories
I remember Mario chasers. I can happily come out and say i am one of those wii u owners
Same
watching him play battle quest archer so bad was painful
My favorite attractions are Pikmin Adventure, Metroid Blast, and Battle Quest.
The Donkey Kong minigame was a blast!
The Metroid one was cool.
The Zelda one was great too!
I loved Nintendo Land!
BRO KENNY LAUDERDALE WAS ONE OF YOUR FIRST CHANNEL MEMBERS?!
THATS AMAZING TO THE POINT IT MADE ME BREAK CHARACTER
I don’t care what anyone says but imo, Nintendo Land was one of the GREATEST games on the Wii U
That game was so fire. Every few years I boot up the Wii U just to play it. It's part of my childhood and just amazing
I remember all of these games fondly. I was one of the very few that actually played this with friends and family during my childhood
i loved nintendo land and the wii u. i hate all the hate it got i absolutely have fond memories on mine. nintendo land was a great party game when my cousins would come over.
Nintendoland was insanely fun and creative. So so so much nostalgia and laughs with friends. The WiiU was awesome especially for this game.
Wait… i just realized i should play skyward sword from watching this video. Motion controlled sword. It’s like wii sports swordplay, but a full game, which is exactly what i’ve wanted. Thank you.
Hope you enjoy! Skyward Sword is definitely worth your time if you’ve never played it before. I can’t speak for the Switch version but it’s a ride.
Forgotten by many…
Remembered by few…
This game, alongside Mario Kart 8 (Not Deluxe), Wii Sports, and Wii Party U. Was part of my childhood…
I still remember when I used to hate those twister enemies in the Metroid game…
I really hope the Switch 2 has some kind of two screen functionality like the Wii U
You forgot to kill the fake Monita at the end of the ninja castle one! The hard mode on there is insane, and probably the coolest secret in the whole game
5:03 this game with the sword is literally just the campaign like game mode for swordplay in wii sports resort
" ONE TWO THREE. ONE TWO THREE. ONE TWO THREE- RAAGGHHHHHHH!!! I'M GOING BACK TO PLAYING ANOTHER GAME. "

Nintendo Land helped me a lot through college, actually. I would bring my console to the common room area and have friends and strangers alike join in for a few rounds, and there were always plenty of onlookers that were just as excited as we were to play.

Forgotten? They made a real theme park.
Like all 'forgotten' Nintendo games... they seem to dominate everything.
Mario chase is the reason me and my sister hate each other 😭😭
It’ll come back eventually

I had a Wii U and for some reason I never gave Nintendo Land a chance. Wish I did
I have not forgotten Nintendo Land.
