You chose not to give in to the indulgence many make and just lie to Ember because you wanted to preserver her precious naivete. You decided to be the good father that taught his brave child to face the world not to play pretend. Good for you man, I salute you for not simping over the only seemingly innocent companion. Even the story tells you again and again that she is pitifully naive, not just naive.

Aeon's are not individual entities, they're almost a hive mind collective of cosmic judges, their sole reason of being is to purge anomalies and minimize planar-scale chaos. The true aeon ending happens if you stay true to the "gaze" of the Aeon and eliminate the anomaly of the World Wound through time travel. This creates a parados about your own existence, resulting in a timeline where the demonic invasion never took place, and therefore you never existed. The Renegate ending happens if at some points in the game you have refused the will of the Aeon. This allows you to resist their influence, not go back in time and deal with the World Wound in your own timeline. Then you can ascend, given you met the pre-requisites, and become a demi-god of law, order and balance.
