This is truly an amazing piece. I'm a hobby composer of sorts and am trying to recreate this piece in my own DAW. I noticed that there is this echoey/humming sound in the low frequencies and I just can't figure out how you did that. Would you mind telling me which instrument you used for that?
@@DelaronZarath Thanks. If I understand correctly, these are analog synthesizers on low notes. I duplicated the double basses with synthesizers on low notes.

@@MW-qt9ts actually you go back in time and kill areelu before she creates the worldwound... thus canceling your existence because you were never created in the first place... but some people seem to remember you despite that... for example... if you romanced the succubus before this... she will go back to being evil but tortures people wishing the commander could see this.

ironically unless the succubus did something that cause cosmic disorder, monad will not recycle mc and send them back to the world. Just being evil is not enough. And even if she manage to achieved that, monad can simply didnt give mc memory back. Being true aeon is literally becoming the husk of yourself.

Upon finding the dagger and reading the story, I realized that with aeon's ability to see through time the only reason to die in such a stupid way is to do it on purpose. So the aeon probably watched 14000000 versions of future and decided that the best option was to pass his mission to an angry dwarf executioner named Oleg.
This path isn't a path about glory, and ultimately neither power. You're not supposed to have an ego. You can ascend, but a True Aeon will not care about that. You are here to bring cold justice - and peace to a world ravaged by passions. You don't really have an ego, a "self". You serve a purpose greater than you. This is why this theme sounds tragic, but beautiful at the same time. It's cold, but it's magnificent... just like the Aeons themselves. You will be remembered, or not, it does not matter. An Aeon isn't a hero, neither a god. They are the relentless logic of the universe, the universal judges, keepers of a not-so-solid order.
What a path to walk. Incredible.

It speaks to how much the demons were winning that most of your reality rewriting actions were against them.
And damn do I wish that Trickster path was along the same axis. They could have made them be like harlequins from warhammer 40k, they could have made them like Neil Gaimans Eternals, they could have made them like LeShay from the Greyhawk -- a manifestation of terrifying chaos and awe inspiring style, created and related to the tragedy of their own, pursuing their goals out of their own passion or mania instead of some predefined order of things. Instead we got to turn Worldwould into a planar projection of the Discworld.
I mean, Jinx from recent Arcane tv series is a perfect example of the trickster in the epic story and it works. Trickster path could have been so much more...
@@chazzwozzio I know the term "Aeon" is adopted from Gnosticism, but the Aeons in Pathfinder don't really fit that. Gnostic Aeons are more like really powerful angels, so powerful that they can be mistaken for gods. Aeons in Pathfinder are powerful, but they are more like cosmic judges and maintainers of the universe, not true gods. Granted, their power is arguably _greater_ than that of gods in a few respects, such as being able to manipulate time, but the fact that they can freely intervene in the affairs of mortals without causing a war between the planes indicates that they are something different, for if Pathfinder gods interfered, that would be cause to start a war between all the gods.
Yeah, Aeon is the quintessence of Lawful Neutral. Utterly selfless yet also emotionless, cold, uncaring as to the woes and boons of others so long as Cosmic Balance is kept.
It is Justice in it's most beautiful form, but also at its coldest.
The whole OST is a fine masterpiece, but this one in particular stands out to me the most - the melancholy and elegance behind it is so powerful. When you are first greeted by the song, it masterfully pulls you in and adorns the whole theme of cosmic balance and time - especially the latter : note how the ticking clock beat perpetually reverberates in the same exact tempo of 1 second throughout the song, alluding to the incessant passage of time itself.
Also the clockwork mechanisms of the multiverse itself
It has the most melancholic yet beautiful ending as well. Won't spoil further but ill say it allows to save most lives at basically highest cost for the player.
Yeah, this track is definitely one of the best in the game (This, the Lich theme and Betrayer of Humanity are my favorites). I always think of the first time you hear this in the game, the story of the Aeon that was killed attempting to fight Deskari and the choice to carry on for the Aeon or to let it dissipate. I don't know why but every time it just hits me a certain way.
Lovely detail with the ticking, I never paid attention to that particular part.
Such a sad, tragic, story. Arueshalae is my favorite character, and I just couldn't do this one.

@@NeoCreo1 the person above summed it up. You choose law and order over everything. Would most of your companions and the world been better off with this choice? Yes. But you aren’t doing it for them because most people wouldn’t want this to happen. They lose the friendships, rivalries and love, what made them who they are, that was only possible because of the worldwound. A lot of bad came because of it but a lot of good too. So yes it is a selfish choice. An epic journey though for sure.
@@Xxsorafan Doesn't make sense, this doesn't make it selfish in the slightest. People wouldn't want this to happen? Tough luck, but it doesn't matter if somebody likes/dislikes it as it has no bearings on the judgement, it is like calling the force of nature selfish. The True Aeon is selfless because there is no self to even speak of, it maintains order and that's it - to the point where the Aeon itself is something that obstructs this order and needs to be removed. The choice is for the balance, not the self.
Angel is the canon path.
Demon is the alternate canon path.
Aeon is the path no one remembers because it never happened.
Trickster is the goofy fanfiction path.

@@JeanBaptisteEmanuelZorg I picked Azata for Aivu alone in the first playthough, but it's really a bit silly. Not like the Trickster silly, but it's got a cookie-eating girl dragon, a hippie angel floating island, is a possible gateway to the devil path- it's complete opposite- and resembles a benevolent version of the enemies dealt with in Kingmaker, the fey.
Lich then is the power fantasy path

When i first started my campaign, my intention was to follow the Lich path. But when i heard this music, i instead chose the Aeon. I cant remember a time when a single music changed my perspective of thing just like this. Absolutely beatiful
I was gonna do Aeon but I used the good/Angel option on the wardstone. There really should have been some kind of warning beforehand
For me it was the opposite, I went aeon, realised I couldn't revive a certain someone and decided to lose 26 hours of play time so I could go back and do it right as a lich. Haven't regretted it yet. Who needs friends anyway?

Barely stuck to Azata when I heard this track, still followed through, but I'll try Aeon soon.
At first, when I set foot on the path of the Aeon, it seemed to me that I was playing the role of a cooldblood cruel executioner. But the more I immersed myself and thought about the path of Aeon, I realized that Aeon is not really a judge or an executioner. Unlike other gods, heroes and entities, Aeon is truly pure and sincere in his motives, which caused me great respect.
Aeon does not punish - Aeon heals what is sick, repairs what is broken without excessive pathos, and completely to the very root of the disease. Even such unfortunate traitors as Staunton - able to find redemption and endure changes to the best thanks to the intervention of Aeon.
Yes, sometimes you have to sacrifice something small to save more. But Aeon does not hide the need for this sacrifice under a veil and hypocrisy. When passing judgment, Aeon will never say - "I'm sorry... I don't want to do this, but I have to..." in order to just make himself look better - Aeon does not look for excuses, because Aeon is always truthful.
It may looks a bit scary... but it's scary to the point of awe.
I remember how Irabeth said to Commander something like - "There is something strange in you, cold, but not evil, inspiring hope".
An Aeon is pure justice, why is why they are feared. They never do anything out of compassion or malice.
Horgus Gwerm said something interesting during Act 3. Something like "People say they want impartial justice, but they don't." They'll be happy when you judge others, but when it will be their turn, they'll say you're cruel, ruthless.
Regardless of being loved, hated or feared, an Aeon embodies the logic of the universe, protecting what should be protected, destroying what should be destroyed.
People don't understand or are scared about them because of their complete moral neutrality, because as humans we can almost never truly put our ethics and emotions aside to see the big picture, so some Aeon actions are seen as edgy/evil. And yet, by nature, an Aeon is almost always right. They are incapable of lying or being biased.
Incredible creatures, for sure. One of the best mythic paths.

@@wcs792 Ah, it's the angel from the lab. I don't remember much about her, to be honest. It seems we only meet her once per game (maybe two?) to say for sure how our decision will affect her.
I played a year ago, I no longer remember some of the details.

If my memory serves me, playing as the demon mythic path, the main character can feel the evil that comes from her (but I may be wrong, as I said, I played a year ago or more).

The weight of this masterpiece gets heavier the longer you play Aeon route. Like when you all of a sudden see stuff you really shouldn't see. All of a sudden everyone and yourself just becomes small and you feel zoomed out.

The ultimate thing that ties this peice together is the piano in the background, which occurs at an extremely rigid interval and always in the same pattern.
Just like the ticking of a Cosmic Clock.

Henceforce they are actually interested in saving everyone and everything. Just no one and no thing in particular.

@@Stellarheim Yes, BUT... saving someone sometimes means destruction or harm to preserve the balance and disregard all subjective emotions of the unit for the greater good, so it's not looking like he saved everyone.
This is definitely one of the best songs in the whole game. Throughout most of the song, it perfectly expresses what the Aeons are: Cold, unemotional, patient and calculating (the ticking in the background is especially fitting of those last two parts), but then there's the climax of the song at 1:20, and that is what REALLY makes this song so good to me. While most of it is representative of the indifferent judges that are the Aeons, the climax of the song feels like the one last emotional outcry of the individual (the protagonist, specifically) who was once there. An outcry trying to convince what remains of itself that there is more to this existence than the merciless and unfeeling law of the Aeons. That, perhaps, there could be something right about uncertainty and emotion. It sounds beautiful, but also desperate. Just like everything else that gets in the way of the logic of the Aeons, it ends up vanishing, and at 1:58 we are left with the cold logic of the Aeons once more.

I read your analysis while listening to the Track and you gave me goosebumps all over again. Good job!
I would argue the crescendo is not from those that remain but the aeons themselves. For they are more than logic. They are balance in it's purest form. In this case a balance of emotion and logic. The ending balances the beginning.
The aeon accepts uncertainty and emotion. Even they acknowledge that theirs is a thankless and lonely task. Several times, the aeon states something to the effect of that "because he or she is mortal, they have the power to choose." But this freedom and uncertainty can never exist without balance at the cosmic and planar level. It is only because the universe is set up the way it is that mortals have the power and freedom to choose their own destinies. When Deskari invaded the mortal plane and Iomedae created the wardstones, they disrupted the balance that allowed for mortals to control the material plane. Without that balance, mortals are the slaves of the demons or the pawns of the heavens. By destroying the worldwound and banishing the demons from the material plane, the Aeon is really the ultimate provider of a freedom for mortals, a freedom that cannot exist except in the way the universe was before the wound.

The ending of this path is... yeah. Don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but it's the coldest, most reasonable decision. Yet it's so sad... I can't go with this path for that reason alone... Yet thematically it's one of the best implemented mythic paths in the game.
Truly changing things, to make the lives of millions better, requires immense, heartwrenching sacrifice.

I remember when my character joined the aeons and swore the oath in front of the mirror. I repeated every word. Definitely one of my most personally involved and memorable playthroughs

Throughout the cosmos and in every time I have searched for irregularities and yet I could not find anyone who gave a f. - My Aeon to Areelu Vorlesh.
One of my repeat playthroughs will be aeon purely because of this theme.

There is something incredibly tragic in the sounds used in this piece that mirror the actual ending of the Aeon so well it's... extremely powerful, to see music so well attuned to writing. I think that one and the Lich one are my favorite just on account of how well the music itself tells the story... I hope you compose more music for the game's eventual sequels.. I believe you have a gift for this
Really they're all perfect fits. Except demon, that one is a really good song but the story doesn't let you be as violent and bloodthirsty as the music would make it seem. At least, not at first.

The first time I heard it play I was blown away! I felt it was perfect for the kind of character I want to role play. Determined heroism but a growing melancholy due the state of the world around her. No matter how much justice is dispensed its never enough. Only the ultimate sacrifice will do...

Aeon Theme is absolutely stunning.
I love this song but it feels so bittersweet for me.
It reminds me of the last year I spent with my mother before she passed away from cancer.
In that year I saw her slowly wither away, becoming more and more sick as time marched on and nothing could be done to stop it.
In the end when she finally passed my only solace was that she was not suffering anymore, that feeling resonates with me at the climax of this song.
I don't know why, but this song brings back period for me, something that I will never forget.

Not often you hear a musical piece without text that still can tell a story, but this one does so magnificently. Well done, sir!

Bloodlines existing through divine intervention but not having the right to exist. With every day, every week, every month more and more of the fabric unravels Infront of you. Until you see it: the threat Areelu used to stitch in the world wound. The needle the abyss abused to sow itself into this realm. As you pull this thread you hear and see everything falling apart and recollecting again. Crimes undone, celestials banished.

Considering the ending of this path. Man this soundtrack is perfect, sad but with a underlining determination that can reshape a world.
I remember the first time wbile i was reading about the purple knife story, tbis played in the background, and it absolutely blown me away, same thing happened for the Azata, amazing game

Mesmerizing theme.
While going through Angel path, I still find Aeon path beautiful and tragic in a ways. And this music perfectly represents that feeling.

honestly the first time you find the aeon thing and this plays in the background made reading the story to the aeon 1000% better it fits it perfectly. I have to say this is my 2nd favourite only surpassed by the song of Elysium. I have nearly 600 games on steam and this is literally the only one where i can say i went back and bought the upgrade just for the soundtrack cause it is so fucking good. thanks for all the work you put into the soundtrack of this game it is perfect.

Не обращая внимания Эон все идёт и идёт вперёд, и последним кусочком руки сдвигает кубик причинно-следственой связи создания Мировой язвы, мир меняется и глаза Эона гаснут...

Know whats funny tho? Aeon is all about time travel and being an omnipotent entity that fixes up stuff behind the scenes... and its theme song is heavily reminiscent of music from doctor who particularly some stuff from the 10ths run. I wonder if Dimitry mayave gotten some inspiration from there

Не знаю, что закладывал сам Дмитрий в композицию, но мне так четко слышится звук часового механизма, четко отлаженного, что я в восторге. Как говорится, "хммм... Я слышу что-то на эонском. Мне нравится".
За нее прямо вот ЦЕПЛЯЕТСЯ ухо при прохождении, она прямо что-то в душонке будит. Она из тех, что заставляют плакать от того, что внутри будится что-то хорошее, красивое.

Да уж, единственная причина почему я удержался от выбора эоновского варианта - это осознание, что эоны рабы закона. В тру эоне нет метаний, он и есть машина, и логично если игра в какой-то момент лишит меня выбора) Да и только дурак будет ломать камень во время полномасштабной войны.

Brilliantly dark, a contradiction of balance that is perfect for the Aeon. You can feel the determination of an eternal struggle to keep the scales even.

I truly love your work with this soundtrack, the cold, unfeeling nature of the Aeon really comes through. Unlike the Lich, however, it doesn't feel sinister, merely mysterious and unknowable. The clock like rhythm and unfeeling sound emphasizes how the character doesn't care about morals or ethics only order and the law in the strict nature of the cosmos. An order unknowable and unseeable to mortals, and the ability to find flaws in the most righteous people, and to punish those flaws as the Aeon deems fit.

Я новичок. Мне кажется что этот персонаж и музыка, олицетворяет всемирные законы мироздания, физики, химии. Течение времени, естественные науки. Насколько я близко к игровому представлению?

Тревожная ли? ... нет скорее предопределенная, но полная ярости и желаний внутри... и все же ... предопределенная. Потому что кто-то должен исправлять то, что натворили дети.
Худший путь для главного героя. Не потому что он не становится героем, нет. Просто если обратить все события вспять, то главный герой навсегда остается в аду.@@ussr_tao

Эта тема - лучший ост, что я слышал в этом году из кино/игровой индустрии. Как по мне, это лучшее отображение всей атмосферы pathfinder: мрачной, жестокой, загадочной, с малыми проблесками надежды, что может всё станет лучше, когда-нибудь, даже немного жалко, что он не является главной темой всей Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous, но для меня этот ост - лицо всей игры. Спасибо вам за проделанную работу, влюбился в этот трек при первом же его появлении в игре. После первого прохождения пойду перепроходить по пути эона.
Aeon is by far is the happiest ending of all endings, just not for main character...
It is actually the saddest for almost every companion, selah would have been executed due to her crime, Camilla probably would have been executed. Woljiff likely would not exist, lann and wendaugh wouldn't either. Aerueshalae would never have changed. Anemia would be dead and irabeth wouldn't have met her. Darren ember and sosiel are the only companions which would be better. Regell would still be regell tbh.

@Alduin the Anti-Dragonborn yea that was my original ending I'm glad I chose it. The ending gave me chills like no story has before. Masterpiece ending if you ask me.
Gives me chills, this theme is very misterious and ominous in some ways. Roleplaying a path of Aeon is personally pretty challenging for me, since impartial lawful choices rub me the wrong way, but there is always another playthrough I guess. Also love the clock ticking, very thematically apropriate.
My favorite 'mythic path' track of the game. A story on its own. Simply great!

EDIT: for the people that don't get the joke, Nordom should be Lawful Neutral, which is the recommended alignment for an Aeon. Through an effort of imagination we imagine this is the song of Mechanus.

This song really emphasized the feeling of wrongness that I felt after ending up in a world not my own. It felt like I massively messed up by "fixing" things and I loved that, it was like a horror game twist and this song was so spooky and fitting. I chose the path of the Aeon to begin with, but the more I played it, the more I rejected its philosophy and asserted my own individuality over that of the cosmic forces pulling at me. Rebel Aeon is such a cool story, especially if you ascend at the end.

This track made such an impact on me that when I first heard it I stopped everything I was doing to rewrite an entire area on the D&D campaign I'm DMing. It's so beautifully melancholic that I felt compelled to try and bring the feeling it evokes into the campaign... and oh boy did it work lol
Absolute masterpiece - definitely a theme that I will remember for a long, long time.

It was terrible. I finished it as a True Aeon the other day. "Sometimes, I don't know if I am an Aeon. Sometimes, I don't know if I want to be an Aeon". When my love came to me at the end, I acted like I cared, but I wasn't a mortal anymore...little more than a mechanism, all to solve this wound. But I slept with her anyway. I acted out the mortal I was no longer. It was all about to be turned into dust anyway. It was a Dr. Manhattan experience.
Aeon truly surprised me in a lot of ways, but it's hard to talk about it without spoilers.
you know the idiom "I don't know whether I wore the armor or the armor wore me" the aeon path is like "the armor wore me and I disappeared"
I remember when I first heard this soundtrack IG and how mysterious and haunting it was and I remember immediately only thinking of the Aeons. This song captures theyre essence perfectly.

As for me, WOTR wasn't about fighting evil or searching for answers, not even about the "I NEED MORE POWER" gimmick, although each of the above is present on different paths. It's the story about the choice, how will you/commander overcome your mortality, and which plane/road will you sell yourself to. Because mortals botched 4 crusades and lost one of their strongest assets at the beginning of the 5th crusade. And Aeon... Mechanically he's nothing much, but boy-oh-boy, he's the most suited for what's happening (planar collision is, yeah) story-wise. I love this theme, love this game and hate to have only 24 hours in a day as WOTR is really long.

Эон и законники вообще не моё, но когда услышала эту музыку в 1 акте, время словно заморозилось. Потрясающе. Жаль, что я не услышу ее дальше, т.к. выбрала иной путь.

Rarely have i heard a song that perfectly manages to express what it *feels* like to walk the Aeon mythic path. This song has a depth that i didn´t expect to find, and it does the lore of the Aeons justice, which is no small feat.
Абсолютный шедевр, редко какая мелодия пробирает настолько глубоко. Именно по этому слушать её тяжело, сразу накрывает эмоциями. (ну это связано и с самой игрой и путем Эона, надеюсь потом мне полегчает :) ).
